I used a fluffy yarn to make this and honestly I don't recommend if you're a beginner. I couldn't see any of my stitches😂. But this tutorial is excellent and the fluffy yarn hid all my mistakes

Hiii I love your videos!!! Thank you for posting free patterns that are so beautifully made!! I was wondering if it would be okay if I created items using your youtube tutorial patterns to sell?
for some reason she cut out the entire part where she does regular DC rows from rows 7-12. idk why. i can definitely see that being very confusing for any beginners out there.
if i’m being honest it’s because I have an average watch time of 2 minutes and it’s makes the video longer and it’s extremely repetitive since all you’re doing it’s just 1 dc in each stitch for 6 rows
yes, first two rows is 10 stitches and rows 3-6 you decrease in the beginning and end until you have 3 stitches left and then make 4 hdc on the top to make it round
@@DayannasCreations thank youuu, was also wondering do i do sc around the entire hat or just the ear flap? if just the ear flap how do i go about doing that?
yes! using a bigger hook/yarn size that I used will affect the pattern, I suggest looking for a video that uses that yarn and then alter the ears and head bumps to that
i followed your exact instructions and somehow mine came out three times smaller than it's supposed to be, im using an 8 ply milk cotton worsted yarn and a 5.00mm hook i dont know where i went wrong help 😭
@@DayannasCreations wow you're fast haha thank you for your advice, the red heart yarn doesnt exist in my country so i tried to find another one online that's similar but turns out it was really different from yours but i found a solution, i decided to use a hook 2 sizes bigger than the 5.0mm and it gave me the size i wanted, not as big as yours but still pretty close i think
@endahp6192 i’m trying to figure this out as well since someone else commented this recently but our yarn is measured by weight and not ply so I don’t really know how to convert it if i’m being honest! I just know that if the yarn is smaller so will the hat
@@DayannasCreations yep i tried to look into red heart's website and amazon descriptipns and it only listed the yarn as worsted and the yarn i got was listed as worsted with the same size of hook recommended for it, tbh i only started crocheting recently so i thought it was the same thing so i suppose many people experienced similar struggles hahah but i ended up liking the yarn i bought since it's light, breathable, and very soft, a perfect choice for wearable products to me. I love your tutorial and really appreciate swift response!
helloooo, can I ask how to make it bigger? like, do I increase stitch again on 7th row? cuz I've followed your tuts but it seems a bit smaller on my head :(
are you using the same hook size/ yarn weight that I am? because that may alter the size but adding an extra increase row will make it a little bit too big so you’d add It to the extra rounds so since I did 12, you’d do 13-14 rounds total
@alexsandravaladez9527 yes! if your tension is much looser than mine it will come out bigger than mine. I recommend either sizing down the hook size or crocheting tighter on the 7th row, it won’t automatically make a bowl form until the 9 ish row so it’s okay if it still looks like a plate
Hi, I was wondering if it’s okay to use a 5mm crochet on a yarn supposed to be used with a 4.5mm one ? (btw the hat looks so cute, can’t wait to make it)
Hii, could you please tell me how many stitches should I have on the very first part on the first 7 rows please? I think I'm doing it the wrong way but I just wanna make sure :p
row 1 - 12 dc stitches row 2 - 24 dc stitches (inc every stitch) row 3 - 36 dc stitches (inc every other stitch) row 4 - 48 dc stitches (inc every two stitches) row 5 - 60 dc stitches (inc every three stitches) row 6 - 66 dc stitches (inc every nine stitches) row 7-12 - no inc just normal rounds of dc
yes! I made increasing rows from 2-6 and you would make increasing rows from 2-5 and instead of increasing every 3 stitches on the 5th row you’ll do every 9, hope that’s clear!
I don't understand how you got back to the middle of the flap after doing the single crochets :( I've been working on this hat for 3 days now I don't wanna give up
you do one ear flap first and cut it off, then when you do the second ear flap you DONT cut it off and then you round it off and end up where you started. if you’re still stuck dm on insta and show me :) @dayannacelaya_
if your base is curling from rows 1-6 it just means your doing ur stitches too tight so it’s causing it to curve but that’s okay because after you do rows 7-12 it evens out but if it’s still happening then practice your tension to keep a consistent tightess
Hellooo, I know this was some time ago, but I’m using size 4 yarn and a 4.5mm hook. Would i just do more than the 12 rows or do I need the same weight yarn and hook size ?
using the same hook/yarn weight I used would be ideal because altering it might make it come out smaller than what mine did. you can use a 4.5mm you would just have to do 14 rows instead of 12 or see what works best for you
@@DayannasCreationsthank you so much!! and with the ear flaps, when you say sc all around to round it off, what do you mean? like around the whole hat or just the ears? and if it’s just the ears how would we sc on the bottom to get to the other side of that flap?
yes! you make 1 double crochet in 9 stitches and then on the 10th stitch you do 2 double crochets in the same spot and repeat for the rest of the round
This is a pretty easy pattern to follow so what I suggest is to search up “crochet basics” and learn how to do a chain 4 for a ring since magic rings are a little bit hard to get as a beginner but becomes easier later on. In the video I do a magic ring which is what you need to do to start something, it’s the foundation but you’ll be doing a chain 4 instead which is easier. For this pattern I used single crochets and double crochets so watch videos on how to do those as well to get a hang out it first.
personally I think it is, this is basically a bucket hat with no brim and extra stuff. you’ll learn how to make a magic ring (can be changed to a chain 4), increase and decrease and lastly, amigurumi. these are all skills that are used often but if you have any questions i’m here
I used a fluffy yarn to make this and honestly I don't recommend if you're a beginner. I couldn't see any of my stitches😂. But this tutorial is excellent and the fluffy yarn hid all my mistakes
thats so real!!! even after crocheting for 2 years I stay away from fluffy yarn 😹😹😹😹
For anyone that doesn't want to watch the video or is better at reading the pattern, here it is!
Round 1:
Make a magic ring
chain 2
12 double crochet (dc) into magic ring
pull loose end tight
Round 2:
dc increase (dci) into all stitches
slip stitch into chain
chain 2
Round 3:
dc, dci (repeat until you get to the chain)
slip stitch into chain
chain 2
Round 4:
2dc, dci all around
slip stitch into chain
chain 2
Round 5:
3dc, dci all around
slip stitch into chain
chain 2
Round 6:
9dc, dci all around
slip stitch into chain
chain 2
Round 7-12:
dc all around
stitch markers:
put stitch markers to frame your ears on both sides as well as enough room for your face
the ear pieces:
connect yarn together next to your stitch marker
chain 2
dc until you reach other stitch marker (2 rows of this)
chain 2
dc decrease (dcd) at beginning and end of row
continue the chain 2 and dcd at beginning and end of row 2 more times
4 half double crochet (hdc)
slip stitch
chain 1
make 3 single crochet (sc) all around
the braids:
take 9 strips and feed it into the end of the tip
split into 3 strands and braid
at end, take longest strand and loop it around to tie it off with another strand
cut excess off (optional)
the puffs--
Round 1:
magic ring
chain 1
6sc in ring
pull string
Round 2:
2sc in every stitch
Round 3:
sc, sc increase (sci)
Round 4-8:
sc in every stitch
at end of 8, stuff puff
Round 9:
sc decrease (scd) in back of loop all around
cut yarn long enough to sew up bottom
pull through puff then cut off excess
sew puffs onto where you think is best (her example is 4 rows above the rim)
then you're done!!
