Pizza is definitely one of the most popular foods Brazilians eat. We love our pizzas! The dough can differ immensely from place to place, and I for one love the thicker ones. That's usually what sets them apart: being able to make a good quality dough is a game changer. Some toppings are pretty standard and traditional, while others are exclusive to that specific pizzeria, so that makes them unique. Regarding the use of fork and knife, I would say that we use them when sitting down, especially in a pizzeria or at the mall, but I would 100% grab it with my hands (and a napkin) in a different environment (or at home). Last but not least: holy sh¡t, that was incredibly expensive. You can find great pizza for almost a third of that price, you don't have to pay that much. I'm in shock.
In Brazil we eat pizza with fork and knife most for being polite in public places or for hygiene reasons but at home we actually eat with our hands but yeah, in public places it's more common to eat with fork and knife.
Please, visit Lençóis Maranhenses! I've traveled to many places in Brazil, all super beautiful, but this place is the most beautiful thing I've seen in my entire life. Trust me, you will love :)

Great Video! São Paulo has so many pizza restaurants that is hard to say what is the best. Vai vai is a traditional samba school from São Paulo from traditional an Italian neighborhood. Braz is also a name of a neighborhood in São Paulo in which you can find Castelões Pizza Restaurant, one of the oldest and most traditional pizza restaurant in São Paulo although now Castelões is decadent in the 90s, figures like the president of Brazil went there to have some pizza
Hello guys, I'm a Brazilian from SãoPaulo that grew in Chicago, I've been around visiting several countries. I recently discovered your channel in you tube and I'd like to thank you for visiting Brazil and saying so many good things about the people and our country although I have to let you know that we make the best pizza in the world and the awesome people we have in our country and the delicious food you can find all over Brazil isn't due to our European ancestors, but for the creativity of the people. Believe me, because I've worked in an Italian ship cruise company, I've been to different places in Italy and the pizzas are awful. Including Naples, Italy, where according to the history of pizza it should be the best. I hope one day we could meet and I would have the pleasure to show you more of our best food.
Brazilian Pizzas are the best in the world, I would not change it even for an Italian pizza. We have soooooo many flavors and we do it sooo good. I like to say that Brazil improves every food from another country.
some Brazilians comment here that they do use their hands to eat out. It's fact. But it's not that common. Brazilians reject eating out without using cutlery, as this is considered rude. When they do, they use napkins to touch finger food, for example. A famous chain of fried chicken restaurants did not prosper in Brazil, and one reason was that people had to pick up chicken with their hands.
Very interesting! Our friend Gustavo said it's quite comment to see people eating a burger with a napkin over their hands to avoid touching it directly. Which is something interesting! Maybe we will try doing that in our upcoming sandwich videos :)
"Hawaii" style pizza with pineapple and even bananas and some curry powder as well is common also in Sweden and they also have the Kebab pizza fusion going on there. In Brazil you need to try the nutella and strawberry dessert pizza...

Here's an advice for you guys: Try to visit the 3 main football stadiums of the city, Morumbi, Neo Química Arena and Allianz Parque (São Paulo FC, Corinthians and Palmeiras stadiums) They are HUGE and beautiful and pretty different from each other. They all have visits even now that the football is in recess and are close to metro stations. The 3 clubs are part of São Paulo city history and culture. It totally worth a visit.
I'm brazilian, i lived in Lisboa e worked in a typical italian pizzeria. Italian pizzas are amazing, but not over ours. We have all kind of flavors and sizes!
To me, and as I've always been told, we eat with a knife and fork because we can keep our hands free of pizza throughout the meal. Like, you are on a date at a pizzeria, you don't have to refrain yourself from caressing them or holding their hand because both of your hands are clean.
In Brazil we used to eat pizza with hand at home, or chilin with friends at home. At restaurant, we usually eat pizza with fork and knife :) Thanks for enjoy our pizza, in Sao Paulo State, every small neighborhood has a small "Pizzaria" and taste good
try next: Catupiry (Brazilian cream cheese brand) pizza, VERY popular. Pizza tends to be better in São Paulo than other cities in Brazil, maybe thanks to the huge Italian community in the city. And never ever do like cariocas (people from Rio de Janeiro) who spread ketchup in their pizza, that's a huge offense in São Paulo lol :P
It's because the pizzarias in Brasil always skimp on the tomato sauce, which is essential in a pizza, ketchup is a poor substitute, but what to do? If the 'dono' sitting on the cash register orders them to go light on the tomato sauce, that's what they do.

We avoid touching the food most because we are touchy people and greeting someone with a dirty hand would be very rude. Imagine giving a hug while eating a Domino's with bare hands.
The pizza hut in Costa Rica serves something called Brazilian pizza. I always liked it, but I'm not sure exactly what makes it different. It looks like it has a finely ground sausage on it and the seasoning is different.
i also have been around the world. Brazil and Italy have the best pizzas in the world. Some pizzerias They use a lot of wood which is the perfect way to cook pizza

I must say, where I live (the countryside of São Paulo state), the pizza has waaay more toppings than the ones you ate. Here the toppings usually are like an inch thick or more, it's crazy lol Edit: 14:14 nvm, she just mentioned a pizza that was exactly like the one I described :p
Born and raised in São Paulo. I believe it welcomes everyone: tourists, imigrants, refugees... Well, about food - Italian, Japanese, Middle Eastern peoples were among those who brought their cuisine and culture to our city. It's cool to see how you guys try to do the things the same way we do, it makes sense. But, if you eat without using fork and knife, most brazilians won't really care about it. Some may think it's strange, but in general we are quite receptive, so you can do it the way it feels best for you.

i'm brazilian and used to eat pizza with fork and knife for a long time, but honestly after some time i got tired of it! it's like a liberating moment eating pizza with your bare hands, so good!
We Brazilians tend to try as hard as possible to never touch the food with our bare hands; even when eating fast-food, we tend to hold the food through napkins; I'm one of those who like to use fork and knife for anything I can't eat in just one bite, but most Brazilians eat fast-food with napkins and draw the line at pizza.
Hey, just read you guys will spend 1 month in São Paulo. Make sure to go to museums too, AfroBrasil Museum, USP's Contemporary Art Museum and Modern Art Museum, all located in Ibirapuera Park have nice collections of brazilian art. Pinacoteca, Portuguese Language Museum and Catavento Museum are other important museums, but stay vigilant, because the luz/downtown neighboorhood where they are located, are dangerous spots depending of the hour. Concerning travel tips in general, i would not recommend to you guys spending 1 month straight at São Paulo. Minas Gerais state has a lot of wonders, historical, nature-based and turistical cities, i think they would make more vlog material to you. Santa Catarina state has beautiful beaches and germanic colonies too, people feel in Europe in some catarinense cities. It's nice to explore another brazilian states because you will be able to see the differences in brazilian accents, slangs, miscigenation, food culture, dresscode, etc.
I tasted pizzas from US, Canada, UK, Japan and Italy and what I can say is the dough of our pizza is almost the same of the italian one but the main difference that we think the our is better than italian pizza and the italians don't agree is basic the fact of they focus on the dough and we focus on the cover! The first time I ate an italian pizza with my italian friends was one described as 'ham, cheese and egg' so the first thing I thought that was their equivalent of our 'portuguesa' but when it came I got an individual plate size pizza with a almost raw egg on the middle of that... as I like raw egg it wasn't a big problem! :D

The main reason we use fork and knife is because usually we use more toppings, and they may fall, or destroy the pizza because it's heavier.
Us Brazilians love watching Gringos react to our culture 😁 thx for the nice comments about our stuff
In Brazil we eat pizza with fork and knife most for being polite in public places or for hygiene reasons but at home we actually eat with our hands but yeah, in public places it's more common to eat with fork and knife.

I must agree, that Albania does have awesome pizza.
some Brazilians comment here that they do use their hands to eat out.

To me, and as I've always been told, we eat with a knife and fork because we can keep our hands free of pizza throughout the meal. Like, you are on a date at a pizzeria, you don't have to refrain yourself from caressing them or holding their hand because both of your hands are clean.

try next: Catupiry (Brazilian cream cheese brand) pizza, VERY popular.
Catupiry não é cream cheese
