Though Mario Odyssey had an entire, professional team to create the game. A Hat in Time had some of the most amazing boss fights I had ever seen.
ikr, my only gripe with some of the bosses is they kinda drag out the fight as long as they possibly could, after a while its like "how much health do you have??" but other then that each boss is great and fun in their own way, funnily enough though the snatcher is the only exception, he doesnt have enough health, his fight ends way too quickly
Social Freak But it’s also a nice change from the old rule of 3 boss fight idea. I hit you 3 times, phase change or death, but I can only hit you when you do this one thing, the only boss like that in A Hat In Time is Snatcher, with his weird attack, and even he pops up randomly. The AHIT bosses can be hit so much more openly, like a real fight, but have more health to compensate for that. They have awesome music while you take any opportunity, risky or no, to try and hit them.

A Hat in Time really hit me when i realized it wasn’t JUST a loving homage to classic 3D platformers, but to popular video games from the 2000s in GENERAL. There were early horror game references, zelda references, metal gear solid references, and much more.

I played and completed Mario Odyssey before A Hat in Time and I was worried that during the playthrough I'd keep comparing the two games..
But I had so much fun with A Hat in Time that I didn't even think about any comparisons to Odyssey and enjoyed it for what it is. Which is how it should be, they're both great games and they don't need to be compared.
I mean, CircleToons just compared them and it doesn’t seem like anything was lost from that. I’d say don’t let comparisons devalue your experience, but comparing can be fun.

Don't get me wrong, Nintendo make masterpieces and Mario Odyssey is so damn good. But my god...A Hat in Time is such a fun game too. I spent 50+ hours in the game and I haven't even completed it. Personally AHiT is my favorite
Personally I've had more fun with A Hat In Time than Mario Odyssey. It just seemed Odyssey was a continuation of the Galaxy series. Half the price, and to be honest the graphics aren't even really on par with Odyssey, but in my opinion a better over all game experience than what Nintendo gave us in this new Mario installment. I would definitely like to see another Hat In Time.

A hat in time has the most fun boss battles I’ve ever played in a 3D platformer. Gears For Breakfast did such an incredible job making all of them unique and fast paced.

Odyssey's damn good. If someone just brushes it off as "just another Mario game", they don't know what they're talking about. 3D World is just another Mario game. Odyssey is not.
Exactly. I've seen quite a few people dismissing Odyssey as simply being "just another Mario game". What exactly does that even mean? It's only another game in one of the most critically acclaimed and revolutionary video game franchises of all time? I think it's most likely due to games like 3D Land/World and the New Super Mario Bros. series being so similar and generic that many people have this image of Mario being nothing but another lazy, rehashed, by the numbers game series akin to Call of Duty or Assassin's Creed that only exists as a cash cow for Nintendo and therefore never give Odyssey a chance.
Oddyssey LOOKS fantastic, however it actually isnt my kind of game. I dont think i would have as much fun with it as everyone else. Breath of the wild was great though.

It’s fun to move around. I concur. Out of my 200+ hours of Mario Odyessy playtime, literally at least 50 of them are spent trying crazy jumps or just flinging myself around the kingdoms.

A few years ago I found this video, and I decided to get AHIT for the PS4. AHIT is the first game I got all of the achievements for (it took MONTHS to get them all), and I still play it to this day. Thank you for making this video, I found one of my favorite games because of you.

Both games I absolutely loved the heck out of for what they both brought back to 3D platforming and what new things they introduced. Both Hat in Time and Odyssey feel so good to control and are just plain surreal fun I was never bored by for a minute.
my only gripe is that i wish hat in time was on switch so i could play it anywhere because i'm always coming back to it. even if it'll never happen it's the one game that i think deserves it the most

Well the planet Mario lives on is definitely not Earth, or at least, Mario isn't a human, so he would technically be an alien. There's also those things you can become which could also be considered aliens. And because Mario is a different species, we don't really know if he is actually an adult or child. Same with the things he can capture. And who's to say someone like Yoshi is or isn't cute? Cuteness is based solely on opinion. There are definitely a bunch of lovable characters, and the tunes are indeed quite jammin.

Tbh, It just feels more rewarding to gain a time piece in Hat in Time then it is to collect a moon in Mario Odyssey, mainly because there isn't an over abundance of them. But I'd be a god damn liar if I didn't think Mario Odyssey was a hell of a time, cause god DAMN was the game fun!
