Tabi-tabi po is a line Filipinos say whenever we’re passing by forests or walking in grassy areas. This is said so we could ask spirits and elemental creatures to move aside since we cant see them, that way we wont disturb them too. It somehow means “excuse me” :)
There’s a tagalog and japanese dubbed version on netflix! It’s pretty good too!

The Wakwak is a vampiric, bird-like creature in Philippine mythology. It is said to snatch humans at night as prey, similar to the Manananggal and the Ekekin rural areas of the Philippines. The difference between the Manananggal and the Wakwak is that Wakwak cannot separate its torso from its body while the Manananggal can. Some believe the Wakwak is a form of vampire. Other people contend that a Wakwak is a Philippine night bird associated with witches.

It's high time the philippines explored other genres such as anime about music. The japanese anime on music usually involves a piano or a violin. Lets create our own by telling our own story with the international audience in mind. We should compete and stop our mentality of self-torture. Let us compete with asias best may it be in anime or tv drama. Either we swim... or sink. Thats the way of the world now.

"Tabi tabi po" literally means "Space please/step aside please" We say that when we are somewhere in nature as to not disturb the elementals (like Philippine yokai) cause God forbid you accidentally step on one and get cursed...

Hope u guys read this. Wakwak means monster, so wakwak hunter is monster hunter. The folklore in philippines is filled with many scary monsters, different types and versions in differion regions of the philippines, also contains gods and goddesses, that can be evil or good. and some monsters can also be evil or good. Theres also items places and locations that are considered to be "cursed/haunted". When i was young, i was taught that if i find a compact mound of dirt that you pass by, you have to say "tabi tabi po" which means "please excuse me", so that the being that lives there wont curse, attack and or follow you home. You can also say tabi tabi po when passing by any ominous or eerie places (like an abandoned house that looks haunted) just in case something/someone might follow you home if you don't say it. You can say it in an elevator too or if you're in any place that suddenly has lights flickering in a dark rainy night. You know.. just in case...
PS because of the many languages in the philippines monster names may differ in other places. I know that where i was from, wakwak generally meant ghosts/spirits but when other ppl say it they think of a monster

    Lakan
Lakan originally referred to a rank in the pre-Hispanic Filipino nobility in the island of Luzon, which means "paramount ruler." It has been suggested that this rank is equivalent to that of Rajah, and that different ethnic groups either used one term or the other, or used the two words interchangeably. In Visayas and Mindanao, the most common term used to refer to this rank is "Datu". "Sultan" was also used in the most developed and complex Islamized principalities of Mindanao. Today, the term is still occasionally used to mean "nobleman", but has mostly been adapted to other uses. In Filipino Martial Arts, Lakan denotes an equivalent to the black belt rank. Also, beauty contests in the Philippines have taken to referring to the winner as "Lakambini", the female equivalent of Lakan. In such cases, the contestant's assigned escort can be referred to as a Lakan. More often, a male pageant winner is named a Lakan.

Nice Reaction,. Kuya Yoshi and Kohei. These are just some of the many supernatural creatures that appear in Trese - Netflix's first Filipino animated series - based on a widely popular comic book series of the same name.

It’s not the first anime, it’s the second, the first one is titled “Brgy. 143” but still “Trese” is better cause it’s a dark fantasy. “Brgy. 143” is a sports anime like “Slumdunk”

Alexandria might look like a mix Asian race... Trese is a very fast pace story... Full of Filipino paranormal folklore... You guys can read the title by ti-re-se, they say is fast... Enjoy the Netflix Animation Trese!

Imagine Spooky Kitaro, but the lead is a human female who is 20ish, and the horrors are similar to Junji Ito's level

I haven't watched it yet but was told to just watch the Japanese dubbed with English sub. It seems the antagonist is a Tiyanak which is a baby demon whos mother died while the baby was still in the womb and thus the baby is born from the ground. The baby has a vampire nature and kills for survival mostly hunt in forest and mountain areas.

Pronounce as TRE-SÉ -- 》like 13 in spanish. The story is about a lady whose family name is Trese. She came from the family of shamans (babaylans). Shamans are people who specialized in communicating, appeasing, or harnessing the spirits of the dead and the spirits of nature. So probably the film is about her fighting bad spirits.

Heads up too, the Aswangs and Halimaws are kinda like Japanese Yokai, and the Babaylan are like the Onmyōji or the Miko, who are chiefs of magic and supernatural.
I am familiar with my local historical legends and Japanese ones too due to having Japanese Relatives in Sapporo

The monsters in trese are mainly about some mythical creatures in the Philippines. And that's why it's interesting bcoz it shows the beliefs and superstitions in our country. (I haven't watch it tho lmao)

Basically Trese is a Babaylan (Miko) and a Mandirigma (Bushigeisha) whose Family (Ichisuko) fights against Evil Spirits (Yokai/ Youma/ Yurei).
