It is hard to believe she is already older than her father ever was. Sad stuff.
Kurt has been dead longer then he was alive.....
I remember when I surpassed my father's age. Such a bizarre experience. That was 30 years ago & now I'm approaching my grandparents' age. Still, growing up in the shadow of a great tragedy, it doesn't feel like tragedy until you're older.
I lost my dad at 4 and when I turned 33 I was his age when he died (cancer). At 40 it's strange looking through pictures of him..younger than me. I remember imagining facing death at that age.
What's great is my son looks and acts like my father. It's around the eyes too, its strange because I haven't seen those eyes animated outside of photos for decades.
@@RunninUpThatHillhthey live through us❤
Is so sad that his daughter has a similar relationship to kurt as the fans, all she has is the little trivia she can collect. I'm sad as a fan for his death, but I can't imagine loosing him as a father, he was amazing. Wish all the best to Francis.
Oh so Courtney is your mom too? Kurt left you a legacy? How do you figure her relationship with her own father and what he left behind for her is at all equivalent to his relation to a sea of blurry faces and people he never met? Get over yourselves.

Hearing her say “Kurt and Courtney” is so sad. It’s like she feels like she can’t call him Dad because she doesn’t remember him and she doesn’t call Courtney mom because… it’s Courtney Love. I love that she calls her parents “Kurt & Courtney” instead of Mom & Dad.. really shows the disassociation she has with them, more likely seen as celebs than parents.
It's totally understandable that she called her dad by his name. But her mother.. Well she's still alive so it sounds weirder for me, but knowing the kind of mom that Courtney seems to be.. I'm, quite happy to be honest that she call her mom by her name because it show that Courtney didn't brainwashed Frances about her dad, totally (or at least didn't succeed in it)
@@ambre6490 Frances probably doesn't think much of her selfish Machavellian mother.
@@bobshenix Courtney wasn't in her life a lot
Yeahp… understandable and also surprisingly relatable
It's completely understandable; my father isn't dead, but he left when I was a kid, and when his name comes up among others who also knew him, I usually refer to him by his name.
It's a shame that she lost her father and had to grow up with a mother like Courtney. It's strange that she says "Kurt and Courtney had a monkey", like she is talking about 2 people she doesn't know and not her parents. Kurt was a musical genius and an icon to my generation. He was part of a movement that actually changed music, and in a way changed the world. Kurt might have pulled that trigger but he didn't kill himself.

I’m glad for her. Even though she doesn’t have her dad physically with her, she still carries him around everywhere, as she does carry his genes, and his legacy. I’d say she’s keeping Kurt’s dream alive.

I am Irish, and live about an hour and a half from where this exhibition was held. Im 41,and Nirvana have been my favourite thing in the world since I was 12. I went to this exhibition twice, both with different friends. It was an incredible experience to attend and take in all that was seen at it. Be it his childhood drawings, or the iconic Teen Spirit geansaí (top, jersey). I loved hearing the snippet of Kurt praising Ireland and his roots here. The Cork gig he speaks of is no doubt the show they played when supporting Sonic Youth, right before Nevermind was released.
I love it
Family History is big w me and it seemed that there was a connection to his kindred dead there. People do choke up. By the way FamilySearch may show more
Im Irish and i could care less. Achievement has nothing to do with Race. People need to stop making race a big deal about everything. We did not win our race like you win an Olympic medal. We inherited it WE only say we are proud of what we are bc thats what we are and cant change it. Im Irish, ok, Why am i proud? If i was born black or any other race l would be just as satisfied with myself. We all would. Im a person who can achieve anything i put my mind to. Race is irrelevant.

Kurt perfectly describes how I imagine it feels to be reunited with your ethnic roots after generations in America, regardless of where on the planet that may be. I noticed some Irish folk in the comments section of a video about Irish-Americans decry the notion that we’re in any way Irish now. But I don’t think it goes away just because your ancestors left their homes. Ethnicity and cultural history and identity is still important. And stereotype or not, Irish roots may just help explain Cobain’s musical and storytelling gifts. 😀
Yes, the Irish ballads are the most moving in the world. There is a strong sense of this balladry in so many Nirvana songs...'Danny Boy' moves me to tears every time I hear it, as do many Nirvana songs...
Many are, and should be that way. The U.S. isn't a country, that would mean shared blood and experiences, tradition and culture. Common goals and kinship. This place is just a multi culti economic zone that exists for corporations to make money and, well, one other main reason I won't mention. The people have nothing in common and there is no "strength in diversity", there's strength in cohesion, and we have none. By design.

Kurt had such an impact on music and with many of us and that is rare now. I don't think we'll ever see too many musicians like him again. I am glad Kurt was feeling spiritual when he was in Ireland. I felt the same way when I found out almost year ago that my Grandpa was not my mother's real father. She confessed to her half-brother before she died that she is half-German-Jewish and I'm almost a 1/3 German-Jewish/ She met her stepfather a few years or more before her real father died. I have Irish roots but not as equal as I thought. I am equally Scottish (paternal side) and equally Norwegian (maternal side). I have never traveled outside the U.S. but I did the Ancestry thing before I found out all of this. It led me to meeting my own father's sister and son. My half-brother and I met each other 2 months ago for the first time. We went to high school together in 1979-1980 when he was a senior and I was a junior. @@444ltr she has to be! She looks just like him!
@@444ltr if anything she was probably hiding the monies from her mother
@Dyson Dyson Don't even bother. Humans today are even dumber than they were in the 90s.
When you asked where might I'd seen that monkey before I immediately thought I'd seen it on the cover of a Pixies album. I'd totally forgotten about the back of Nevermind.
I thought the same!
Surfer Rosa was the album that inspired Kurt for a sound he was searching even hired Albini.
Already know👀
Cool to see! Good work 👊
Wow cool video! Thanks man
Omg, I was at this museum a few years back!
I’m not convinced. She sold that guitar couple years ago with little cutlery set in there.
And hadn’t bothered to even look before selling it.
Yeah,I'm not either. Plus she basically bad mouths Kurt every chance she gets.
@@originalbjustme I imagine that has everything to do with hearing endless lies about who he was directly from her mother her entire life!!
Had the privilege of witness that exhibition. Awesome
Kurt the musical genius, Frances so beautiful not just in looks, but spirit also. Seems very confident and genuine. That lil monkey though 🐒
I was at that. I'm from Ireland.
That's cool
Big fucking deal
We're in Ireland was it
@@kikeheebchinkjigaboo6631 jealous a bit!
@@hedgy1318 it was in Newbridge. Newbridge silverware to be precise.
He and Courtney owned a brand new Lexus I believe for maybe a week. She went and bought it and he made her take it back because he was embarrassed to be seen as a wealthy snob driving it.
@Nate Stephens I didn't.
I heard that was not true...
@Nate Stephens Funny Allen Wrench got same car after Kurt was 💉Murdered!
@Nate Stephens ah yeah cos that info is everywhere how could I have missed it???!!!
Yes...it's almost like Courtney is money hungry and will do anything for it. She leached off kurt.
She's a lovely person.....inside and out.
Thanks Dudeman. My mom.s family came from Cork as well.
I really enjoyed this video. I had the pleasure of meeting the Cobain's, in Kildare, pic is my profile. Kurt's actual family were from Carrickmore, County Tyrone
That is awesome!
BAD. ASS.
that hits different when she said “Kurt and Courtney had a monkey-“ instead of dad and mom had a monkey, I’m not sure what to think?
was lucky enough to visit this exhibition on my 14th birthday back in 2018… some seriously interesting stuff there
People from County Cork founded the 1st neighborhood in Detroit! It’s called Corktown and is still there today!
I’m just glad to know she’s not as depressed as he was (at least to my understanding).
Agreed, she sounds really bubbly and hopeful, it warms my heart 😄
I don't think he was depressed more than any regular person. That's just the story you've been led to believe. Truth is he was murdered. Didn't kill himself, he was about to divorce his no good wife and she fucking killed him.
Addiction has its ways .
I'm just so heartfelt true happy she lived longer then he did😭
@@erickraueldallasskywatcher8262 Are you sure it wasn't JFK, Jr. who killed him with the help of Jim Morrison, Tin Foil Hat Guy?
Kurts part Irish? That's fun to know
Yup😌
I went to see the exhibition and got a cool photo beside Kurt's car! Being Irish it was nice to hear about Kurt's family heritage. There was a cool drawing he done of Gooofy and Michael Jackson
I still have Kurt’s journals and man, I don’t see how anyone can read that and not think that dude was going to off himself someday
Also, in two photos (taken at separate shoots but both within a year or so before his death) he posed with guns pointed at his own head. There is no doubt he had suicidal ideations, but there is also compelling evidence that suggests he may not have killed himself. I feel like it’s like 50/50 whether he did or not. Both sides have strong arguments.
@@assmane999 I don’t disagree. I’ve watched the documentaries and read the theories. The Allen Wrench hire for hit theory is probably the most convincing. People say he couldn’t have picked up a shotgun with that much heroine in his system but idk man, that guy did that drug like it was his job. The body can adapt to substances overtime.
@@LRM5195 yeah, I’ve heard heroin addicts say that it’s not inconceivable for a heavy user to be so tolerant of extremely high doses that they’d still be functional.
She doesn't refer to Courtney as "mom"..can't say I blame her.
