I can't use The Good and the Beautiful with a clear conscience. I don't want to support a faith that is spreading literal lies about Jesus and the gospel and I was SO pleasantly surprised to see your take on the curriculum because so many of my homeschool mom friends love it! I think when you know something, you can't unknow it lol it's just there. That's me with TGTB. There's an interview on youtube with this ex mormon woman and she's the one that convinced me. They have an agenda, why support them when there are SO MANY wonderful other curriculums to choose from!

Great video! I wanted to add my thoughts. We have used TGTB for 2 years now, level K, and Level 1 and we will be using Level 2 this coming year. I don’t use this curriculum to teach my child the Bible. I use the Bible to teach the Bible. We also love The Answers books for kids by Ken Ham. I will say that there are plenty of references of the New Testament throughout TGTB curriculum, whether it’s LA or Handwriting. TGTB has worked very well for us and my daughter loves it! It is affordable and it is easy for me to teach! We have used BJU Press for Spelling and it is great! I love that they incorporate the Bible in their workbooks no matter what subject, however buying an entire grade level for our family on one income would be very hard! It is a solid company though and I never rule anything out! Thank you for insight!!

Hi Brandy, thanks for commenting. I guess my problem with TGATB is if one uses it but not with the intentino of teaching the Bible because they think it doesn't have much good teaching from the good book, the curriculum shouldn't call itself a 'Christian' curriculum. It would then be a secular curriculum. I guess it's just false branding. I don't have a problem with the 'educating' side in a way - but then again, shouldn't our education be all about teaching our kids to love God? And if so, why TGATB?
Totally no judgement though on what you use. They're your kids and it sounds like you're a great mom. There are a lot of affordable programs out there though that are Christian like Masterbooks and Generations...even Easy Peasy which is free.
But up to you! God bless dear friend.

It's interesting. I would actually say it's secular but teaches a bit about god (small g), character and decent values. But you'd feel swindled if you purchased it as a Mormon expecting it to teach traditional Mormon doctrine 😂

Yes, there are lots of cheaper options I talk about in the video though...Masterbooks, Generations, even Gather Round. I guess my point is they are more secular than anything. But you're the parent and you do what you think is right. God bless friend.

Abeka also offers DVD options and you mention that you can use the BJU DVD’s over and over again. This is not quite true. When you choose the DVD option with BJU the DVD’s aren’t yours to keep. You are only renting the DVD’s and must be returned.
It is also worth noting that Abeka also allows you to not have to sit down and teach your children. The quality of the information taught is excellent.

Thank you so much for your comment. I didn't realize it was a rental situation. I'll definitely put that in my video. Really appreciate you catching that one and telling me. Someone else made the same comment. I'm actually a bit dissapointed you can't keep the DVDs. It seems strange. Can you keep them with Abeka? or is it a rental too?

Hi. Yes, DVD are to be returned and they are not in the greatest shape too which makes it harder to use. High School classes are pretty hard and not much math you can find offline to learn on your own. It takes more that 7 hours a day. Add PE and lots of Bible verses to learn which is good but not everyone can keep up with that program. And definitely not cheap especially if you have more than one child. Looking for another online school

What do you think about Christian Light Education? I’m currently full Abeka, but looking at other options and I’ve heard a little about CLE. Not sure how it stacks up though!

    • @killuaxkillua2384
      @killuaxkillua2384 3 місяці тому +1

I’m using Christian light for kindergarten and it is very simple, the subject aren’t really separated they’re combined into a single lesson being used together. I haven’t used it for any other grade levels and this is my first year but I like how it’s not hard to complete a lesson with a 5 year old boy who doesn’t want to sit still haha. I do find at least at first it could almost be used for a pre schooler. We’re several booklets in and my son already can count to 12 easily but this is very slowly and repeatedly introducing 1-10 so far. But if gentle, slow, and simple to teach us the goal with lots of simple activities and little stories with questions that have to do with God then I really do like that about it.

I don't think TGTB are hiding anything for anyone to think they need to be called out. They are light on Christian doctrine (which I appreciate because I am of a different faith than Jenny Philips) but all that is mentioned is sound. I believe TGTB's strong point is on Christian moral character and the importance of reading sound, highly moral and intellectual books for kids. But for the sake of this videos title I guess you can say that it's weak in doctrine but not in Christian character. 🤷🏻‍♀️

    • @beloved-1

@@LoreLovesFamilyif it’s weak in doctrine it IS weak in true Christian character. Those both go hand in hand. Once you try other strong Christian curricula you can easily see the difference. It’s hard for those that have only tried TGTB to see it as they’ve only stuck with that one and don’t have anything to compare it to. If a strong Christian curricula is not your thing then by all means choose what works best for your family. I went all over the place and ultimately Abeka and BJU are the strongest both academically and doctrinally. It is the equivalent of doing private Christian homeschooling.

Oh lovely. Thanks for being such an encouragement, friend! Great to hear about your 14yo son and his healing. If you need to, I wrote a blog (in the process of being turned into a video shortly) on special needs homeschool choices. I thought a lot about it, but it might be helpful for your son. God bless. www.homeschoolcurriculum101.com/blog/10-best-homeschooling-special-needs-curriculum-picks

Love your videos. Agree about TGTB, we are using it for LA and Math, but I got Abeka video lessons for Bible ❤

Hi Elena, great to hear from you again. Love having your comments to make me think again about stuff. Iron sharpens iron. God bless friend. I'm glad you've got Abeka for Bible :)

It's great. I'm using it for my 4 year old because she has begged me to do some 'homeschooling'. I wouldn't usually, but she's so so keen! So different from my older child who (if I'm honest) I think I burned out by starting too early!

😬😬 definitely would not use alot of the ones on this list. We use TOG right now with Generations literature mixed in.

Thank you so much for making this video! I was considering leaving Abeka because it’s become expensive.,we love it but not in the budget any longer and BJU press looks promising 😊 Thank you 🙏 God bless

No worries! Masterbooks is also much more affordable than both. They've started offering SOME video lessons too...but they're not as good as BJU or Abeka. Did you see my video today? It compares them both. God bless friend.
