It is nice to know you are a millennial and that you have lived in other cities. The best part of Albuquerque for me is the family oriented spirit and my family is in NM. I’m a boomer and I’ve lived in St Paul, MN, St Louis, MO, New York City, Detroit and Chicago. They all have their plusses and minuses. ABQ has good parks and libraries. Thanks for sharing your perspective.

I’ve lived in ABQ for the past 10 years, and I like it here. I’ve lived all over, from the “war zone” to the UNM life, to uptown and now to my first home on the west side. I’ve experienced very little to zero crime. Maybe I scare people? I have no clue 😂 I think if people are street smart anywhere they will be fine. I got my first home quite easily here, about 2 years ago. I have a great job with aps that I love, and I’m in my final year of grad school. (I also have my own YT channel regarding vintage gaming if you’re interested.) I disagree completely about having to travel so far to enjoy the outdoors. We should hang one day and I’ll show you the local sights within 20 minutes from downtown. Amazing sights and lots of fun if you like the outdoors. New Mexicans I have found are a proud people with lots of pride, some of that from their faith and background. I’m from Dallas Ft Worth (lived there for 35 years. I could also tell you about some great restaurants there, and I’ve got a few here too.) keep up the great work man, although I disagree with having to drive far to see the sights. This is it 😂 people here live on “Albuquerque time” as they say. I love the work you do with the homeless, that’s great and I appreciate that, as a future counselor. You’re right about people demanding respect here, it comes from a history of being invaded and having their culture ripped away by other states, religions and everything else. Have a great one! Let me know if you want me to take you to a few cool local outdoorsy spots that Would take your breath away. Also. People here don’t lock their cars and leave them running, so they don’t have those street smarts one of us might have from living in larger cities. Small town mindset with big town problems, I’ve found. New subscriber too! Peace! BB

We just moved here in October and so far it’s great. We spent the last 9 years in Phoenix and took a vacation here over the summer and decided to stay. I thought the weather was amazing. It’s a little cold for me now but I’ll trade this for Phoenix summers any day.I’ve heard about the crime but it seems like a half of the city is very nice. We live near the CNM campus on universe and it’s very quiet and pretty. I’ve lived in PHX, Tucson, Houston and was born and raised in San Diego and the bad areas in ABQ don’t seem any worse than anywhere else

I loved living in Burque. I'm from San Francisco, and for me the quality of life in Albuquerque is better. San Francisco is dense, has a lot of things to do, but it can be noisy and of course the crime here is pretty insane. I ride a motorcycle, and the backroads in NM is fantastic. The Native culture is alive and strong. I miss it.

Abq has gotten way worse. Like bad. It wasnt this bad in early 2000s and late 90s. I was born and raised here. I use to think Abq and NM was the best place in the world. Until i met my spouse and visited her family in western NC and its total culture shock and a lifestyle change. It was safer. People were nicer. More hospitality and alot of kindness. I laugh when people say crime is everywhere. Its not.

Honest video and some real facts. I think I mentioned in one of your other videos that it would be nice to film some nice parts of town. i.e. stay the F away from Central! I have mixed opinions of my city, so it would be nice for others to maybe see some of the better parts of it. I'd recommend the foothills, anywhere pushing North towards Paseo and some parts of the North West Side or North Valley are so, so different. Anyway, good luck and hope you continue the ABQ journey.

So, the walk/drive around videos hit close to home (literally California and Kathryn SE). I'm 52 and have owned a house for the last 4+ years and our block is ok-neighbors are great. But it is a constant battle to be vigilant due to the high homeless/crime issues. On the flip-side, being able to walk to work (VA is 1.5 miles away) and not have to share walls is great.

Outside or the city there are nice quiet housing for regular people who work i was homeless and i can say I survived ABQ for 10 years living on the street downtown and in the war zone. i was stabbed up went to the hospitial holding a knife in my chest so i wouldnt bleed to death i was just going to tape it up with gorillia tape. police talked me into going to the hospital. a few weeks after i had enough fun. my family let me come back home after 20 years eating out of dumpsters and sleeping where ever i could to survive the night, God is Great

But there are really nice areas in Albuquerque, beyond the War Zone. The city climbs right up to the foot of the mountains, and there are lots of nice neighborhoods up Paseo del Norte, Academy, etc. Have you been to Elena Gallegos Open Space or Michael Emery Trailhead? It’s really beautiful up there, and it’s in the city limits. Albuquerque is my favorite city in the US.

I have to say the crime problem is down to the usual gun and knife club gatherings of already gonadal youths getting too high.
Back in the Eighties convenience store clerks were getting blown away like once a week, no cameras, not even a panic button. The 0k on University there lost 3 or 4 clerks in like a couple of months, Hollywood video, etc. I got shot at and almost run over a couple times, just out of left field, right across the street, escuse Avenue, from frigging UNM. Robbed in front of Frontier, a friend of mine, well never mind.
Worked at the magazine and video store on 2nd, there was fresh putty and paint behind the register where the last clerk had been cut in half with an UZI. And they had working cameras, even hired a security guard after. Some of the highlights there good times.
Burglary is maybe worse now, read the news - whole U-Hauls of people just passing through, being an interstate crossroads has a lot to do with both the violence and nomad situations. And the nomads, some of those people have never had lights or running water in their lives.
Got ganked myself during the lockdown, still recovering from that, but at least not homeless.
Cops haven't even shot anybody in day or two, although some loco was running around stabbing people in neck the other day.
Worst thing is the school shootings, very sad in this, already sad a little state. People take things in stride in their own way here. There are old ways here, many of these people were here before the Pilgrims, and you know what those people were like: after hanging a bunch of chicas, Cotton Mather was booted out of Plymouth colony for birddogging half the wives in the congregation.
NM is a very complicated, traditionally rural, multi-culti state. A lot of very powerful creative energy here, even in the midst of poverty.
It's a beautiful state, full of beautiful people.
I've never been anywhere there wasn't bunch of assholes running around looking for trouble, there's nothing you can do about the random shit but watch your ass.
Girl from El Paso told me they used to wake to the bodies of women hanging from the fence across the river.
Count your blessings: the "good old days" weren't always so good, and even if it is not the best of all possible worlds, it can always get worse.
