I could not disagree with you anymore or less brother. I'm a sucker for the 80's and 90's stuff. There definitely isn't real music with decent valuable content anymore. 🎶🤘🎹🙏🎶🎷🎸
I’m 75 years old and am amazed how good the music from the late 50’s thru the late 90’s…..and now the current music has deteriorated so much….BTW COREY HART was simply outstanding in this song!
VERY UNDERRATED artist. I think he only got BETTER with age and each passing album!! He just wasn't promoted well enough....that's my take on it anyway!! Wonderful song from 1988.
I agree with you, his writing and voice got better, Jade is one of my favourite albums along with Attitude and Virtue. But this song is simply awesome on so many levels. ua-cam.com/video/-XaVRuAIYqs/v-deo.html I have been addicted to this song since it came out, give it a listen please!
He got screwed by his record label after his third album was a commercial disappointment. They wanted him to co writes songs and he said no, and in turn they promoted him less. Very true, his songwriting improved as he went along. He released some excellent albums they would have sold more if he had the support.
I love this song when it came out. I still love it today. Love everything in this song. The sax, vocals, Corey, OMG her voice just runs in my soul. The sax is whoooo! Still gets me!
This song is so good I have to find it and play it at least once every couple weeks! Corey Hart does not get enough credit for the fantastic songs he has written over his lifetime.
Maybe not just his best song ever, but one of the best songs ever. Ruby Turner's angelic voice sends shivers up my spine. The musicians playing this song can't be beat either. A perfect storm of writing, singing & playing of a fantastic and meaningful song. Well done ppl!
@@AMANOFCOLOURS np tyvm also. Ya shes amazing and a star in her own right....and perhaps the reason this song is so great. Check her out en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ruby_Turner
I was a freshman in college in 1988 and still clearly remember walking from class back to my place singing this song to myself. It's weird how things like that can stick with you for no real reason. "Ever since I was, a little kid I have always thought, that I could run faster than the wind."
Saw him in concert 2 years ago... he rocked it! Brought out his wife of more than 25 years and kissed her onstage, and then serenaded a woman who was supposed to have met him when she was14 but he had to cancel. She was in tears! A true Canadian Classic Hero!
It is one of my favorite songs after Never Surrender, since I heard Corey Hart, this song counts as a part of my life, it has helped me get out of my depression, when I lost my parents, this is where I take refuge, in your songs the lyrics, thank you Corey Hart, thank you for your lyrics, the music, without a doubt helps a lot, you are one of the great artists, who are undervalued, but those of us who know about music, you are number 1, thank you for existing! Someday I will return home...
I saw Corey Hart as an opening act for Culture Club on April 1984 at the Montreal Forum, didn't know at this time Corey will have a longer career than Boy George band, this one is one of my favorite
Yes, the addition of Ruby Turner (no, I did not know her name but saw it posted here) really does make the song a goosebumper song. ¨...Count your blessings Cause it's in your soul, oh it's in your soul...¨
This Artist understood the importance of integrity in music above fame and fortune there for his legacy is secure in the hearts of fans around the world .
Lyrics Ever since I was a little kid I have always thought I could run faster than the wind Stare up to the sky with open spaces I could live and die Well man you can't find that in no book Never find that in no book Someone will drag you down And try to knock you under Hey mama said with her words of wonder Don't matter 'cause, 'cause it's in your soul I have always felt That I had to prove it to myself No salvation from the firin' line A million dreams won't set you free God I know there's something trapped in me There's no refuge from the ride No shelter ever saved a man his pride Give you pain and never feed your hunger I won't close my eyes when it rain and thunders Don't matter 'cause, 'cause it's in your soul And when the night is overcome And I've been racin' down a road That's got no trace, no face If I could live by the words I've sung And carry all the choices I've made I swear, I swear I'll be there Hey mister don't shadow box with me 'Cause I don't want to someday be An old man cursin' what I might have been Now I realize what I see That the wind was never chasin' me And I don't feel so alone I can close my eyes I'm goin' home Behind the clouds the sun is shinin' Some rain will fall no use cryin' Oh no, oh no not me Got a picture in my head that won't let go Of young man running in search of Count your blessings 'Cause it's in your soul, oh it's in your soul In your soul, oh no Ever since I was a little kid I have always thought Young man running
This is one fabulous song. The lyrics are so cool and the beat? You just have to MOVE. COREY COREY COREY AT HIS BEST. The female co-singer is awesome. One of my favourite songs ever !!!
Favorite song as a kid and still gives me goosebumps everytime i hear it, which is like once a day. Its like it speaks to my soul. Couldnt explain why if i were asked. Im now that old man but not cursing what i might have been. And thats because if this song.
Corey Hart captured the soul searching we all experience throughout life in this extraordinary beautifully written and performed song...some songs stay with you for a lifetime, this is one of them ...listening to this almost 23 years on it still evokes the same wistful, yet optimistic feeling from when I first heard it. Thanks for posting.
one of my top 80S inspiration ballads from my teenage era of struggles in journey of life which is undeniable pure talent n don't forget ..SOUL..timeless COREY HART
Me too. There's just something so powerful in his delivery and in the lyrics. Heard it on Boom 97.3FM in Toronto and had to UA-cam it again. Great song by a talented artist.
absolutely one of his best songs ever. although he has some extraordinary songs with the same wishful and motivational intention, just as never surrender or thrut will set you free. i wish i could presence him alive someday. love to all of you who feel the beauty of life through music and voices like these.
My favorite Corey Hart songs - Can’t help falling in love, Ain’t Enough, I Am By Your Side and In Your Soul. Don’t get me wrong I love Sunglasses at Night and Never Surrender too but these songs really deserved just as much.
I was dreaming this song word for word, could her Corey and Ruby, very lovely. When I awoke, I played it and fell in love with my youth and Corey Heart all over again! My daughter leaves to Montreal Saturday, July 1st for a youth student exchange, I did let her know you just might be there, keep an eye out for him haha. Love you Corey!
Corey Hart is very underrated. He writes and sings his own songs, and does it great. One of my favorites for sure.
Im not sad that im 51,just sad music today is no wheres near as good as 80s/90s.Amen to you tube.

This tune is just a masterpiece, the tempo, the lyrics, the vocals, Corey nailed it with this one for sure.....
And Andy Hamilton's saxophone, of course.

I think he was doing what he wanted to do ! Anybody who has the Gift has a choice!👍

What a beautiful song.
To this 68 yr old, this video was like an apology of sorts for all the other crap he pumped out.
A requiem of sorts. Good kid.
My absolute favorite Cory Hart song along with my favorite era!
You have it on this one Corey Hart. Beautiful.
I can't believe that "Sunglasses At Night" topped this song. This was much better on the ears.
Corey Hart is just simply awesome.....I can never get tired of his music. It brings peace to my soul.
Lyrics
Ever since I was a little kid
I have always thought
I could run faster than the wind
Stare up to the sky with open spaces
I could live and die
Well man you can't find that in no book
Never find that in no book
Someone will drag you down
And try to knock you under
Hey mama said with her words of wonder
Don't matter 'cause, 'cause it's in your soul
I have always felt
That I had to prove it to myself
No salvation from the firin' line
A million dreams won't set you free
God I know there's something trapped in me
There's no refuge from the ride
No shelter ever saved a man his pride
Give you pain and never feed your hunger
I won't close my eyes when it rain and thunders
Don't matter 'cause, 'cause it's in your soul
And when the night is overcome
And I've been racin' down a road
That's got no trace, no face
If I could live by the words I've sung
And carry all the choices I've made
I swear, I swear I'll be there
Hey mister don't shadow box with me
'Cause I don't want to someday be
An old man cursin' what I might have been
Now I realize what I see
That the wind was never chasin' me
And I don't feel so alone
I can close my eyes I'm goin' home
Behind the clouds the sun is shinin'
Some rain will fall no use cryin'
Oh no, oh no not me
Got a picture in my head that won't let go
Of young man running in search of
Count your blessings
'Cause it's in your soul, oh it's in your soul
In your soul, oh no
Ever since I was a little kid
I have always thought
Young man running
Ruby Turner is fab, and adds an extra quality to an already fantastic song.
