- since this is a very underrated show and there's not a lot of compilations, i decided to make one about my favorite El Tigre character, Rodolfo Rivera AKA White Pantera. i just can't with this guy, he is honestly a funny, silly, but also a very sweet responsible hard working single dad who just wants what's best for his son Manny. And i'll be honest, he was also one of my childhood crushes when i was 13 (i was 13 when the show came out on Nickelodeon back in 2007)
but yea, i really think White Pantera is a very underrated animated dad, i know there's a lot of popular cartoon dad characters like Darkwing Duck, The proffesor from powerpuff girls, Greg from Steven Universe, Dr. Doofenshmirtz, Goofy, and so many more but Rodolfo will always be my top number one cartoon dad ^w^
ALSO! the creator the show Jorge R Gutierrez recently said in his twitter few days ago that he wants to bring back el tigre! which is just awesome because that show deserves a second chance after the way how Nickelodeon didn't promoted it enough in 2007 and also because they always aired every new ep very early in the morning which caused it to get very low ratings and then getting cancelled after one season. so i do wish jorge and his wife the best of luck of bringing the show back. not so sure when or how they will do it but i do hope they do. also! during this year of 2021, jorge will reveal his upcoming netflix series Maya And The Three! i am so looking forward for that series ^w^

White Pantera is too nice for this series. While the people are gratful for his heroism, It's pretty tragic that he defends a city where people tend to look up to Supervillians more than Superheroes (including his son at times), cause they think there're cool. Still the fact that Manny still loves his father is the best thing that ever happened to him.
Yes! Exactly!! And let's not also forget that he is like always the only hero who does most of the work, meanwhile we never see most of the other heroes who appeared in the hero convention episode. He works so hard everyday to protect everyone and that's why i love that character so much. He was always my favorite when i was a kid, and he still is my favorite. I really hope he or manny get to be in the upcoming nickelodeon all stars smash game 😃

Another thing this show should get credit for, is showing a healthy pair of divorced parents in a kids show. Both love their child, and still care, respect, and love each other. They (more so Manny's mom with his dad) just arent IN love with each other. and cant be together because of their own reasons.
Also they dont undermine one another and Manny himself learns, respects and understands their reasons and choices as his parents.
This show was ahead of its time.

@@skylerb97 yep. Basically for now they are separated because it’s better for her health. But later, we shall see. Or never see since you know, the series is over.
It's also worth noting the reason why they split up. A partner being unable to constantly see the person they love risk their lives everyday is a very real and understandable stance in any relationship with a dangerous job (much less superheroing), but is very seldom dealt with in the genre.
I'm happy the creator confirmed that Rudalfo got a happy ending with Maria after the events of the show.
That heals my heart.

Ending the yellow menace. 2. Better writers on his show during seasons 9 and 10 to not include Sparky and a wannabe Marcia Brady.

I like how his flaws and troubles are mostly realistic things an older guy might deal with: worrying about whether he's still strong enough to do what he loves, hoping to keep an amiable connection to his ex-wife and still harboring the same old feelings, and struggling to relate to his sometimes-delinquent son.
Although, I wonder what he does for a living if he's semi retired from heroism.

You got a love how the show included so many villains based on Latin folklore and just the atmosphere of it was so unique. The inclusion of a healthy divorced couple, a city where ppl think villains are cooler than superheroes, but most importantly how bad manny’s mom was like sheesh her superhero outfit is bad 😧😰😰😰 and also how dorky manny’s dad acts for his ex wife cuz he wants her back
Honestly Latin actual culture seems to be more inclined to glamorize the criminal life style, so showing how people prefers to be the bad guy for the aesthetic is preeeeeeetty accurate (Unfortunately)

You know, the fact that he's able to withstand all that punishment without suffering long term consequences is probably his greatest asset as a hero.
He also curbstomped a demon dragon without trying, he thought it was a cheap costume until he realized the dragon blood was real after he killed it.

A version with adult or highs chool versions of the character might be intersting to see.

See, it all boils back to my philosophy that cultures are ment to be shared. A Filipino can run a taco truck, a white frat boy can dress up in a poncho and sombrero (which I, a (half) mexican, get a kick out of seeing), an Indian can go to a Native American pow wow, and a Native American call work in Tech Support. It's not Cultural Appropriation, it's Cultural Appreciation!

I do have some interesting news though. Back in december 2020, the creator of the show Jorge R Gutierrez says that he actually wants to bring back el tigre. But right now he is very busy with his upcoming netflix series Maya And The Three. And it's not just that, there's still many other projects that he wants to work on too. So hopefully i hope one of those projects is a el tigre revival 😲

I only have like a few vague memories of watching it as a kid such as when Manny hung out with a character called Zoe and did all sorts of mischief.

One of the reason why white pantera is the best cartoon dad is in that bird "superhero" sibling episode where he actually believe manny about those jerks and actually listen to him.
Yea. And i think the reason why is probably cuz of the dragon worm episode where rodolfo saw that his childhood superheroes were not only jerks but they also used manny as bait for the dragon. So i really think it was that moment rodolfo learned that not all superheroes are humble and 100% good. Which is why it was sweet of him when he told manny that he believed him more than the golden eagle twins 😊
Gosh THANK YOU for making this, White Pantera was my favorite part of the show when I was able to catch episodes. Lots of children's shows back in the day were so prone to making father characters incredibly stupid and neglectful of their children (except Hugh Neutron, despite being a bit of a dummy he genuinely loved his son and family). But Rudolfo was always careful to set a good example for his son and be the hero that not only Miracle City saw him as, but his son as well. The episode with El Mal Verde always stuck with me because he loved his family so much that he ran away from a fight, something that shames him despite it being the right call, and seeing his son in danger spurred him into action to take El Mal Verde on again. Also not to mention despite his own father being a notorious super-villain, he still stays true to the Hispanic virtue of taking care of family under your roof. And even though he has his flaws, he's still one of the most charming characters on the show.
Jorge KNOWS how to write his dad characters and I love it. White Pantera, Carlos, and Maya's dad are all great fathers.
Yes! Exactly! Rodolfo isn't one of those typical stupid dad cartoon characters. Instead he is humble, hardworking, silly in a cute way, and a very caring father.
Also yes! The Mal verde episode also got stuck to me too ever since i was a kid, it's one of my most favorite episodes, and the argument scene between him and manny, damn it was so harsh when manny called him a coward which really emotionally hurt him, yet he still came back to save his son's life from mal verde, and there's also the part when manny found rodolfo's wallet and finally understood his dad's reason in running away, manny realized that he should've been more grateful that his dad didn't got killed. like i would've been happy, grateful and relieved if my dad ran away from a dangerous fight instead of continuing to fight.
Aw yea! I like his relationship with grandpapi too, sure they may have different opinions, but they still do care for each other.
And yes, rodolfo may not be perfect and that's perfectly fine, because he is still amazing in his own heroic fatherly way 🥺
Carlos, maya's dad and rodolfo will always be amazing dad characters, and i'm glad jorge did a great job in developing them ☺️

Because of that show, many people are recently learning about jorge's past projects like El Tigre and The Book Of Life. It really makes me happy that el tigre is getting a lot of attention now, it really deserves it after the way how nickelodeon poorly treated it.

White Pantera may not be my favorite El Tigre character but I do see him as a genuine hero of this show and deserves a lot more credit and reward than he is given. A lot of the heroes from this show weren't all that good; the only exceptions being Cyber Sumo, Seventh Samurai, Albino Burrito, and (somewhat) Justice Jaguar and Gold Leon. Only reason I don't count El Tigre yet just because he is still on his own journey than his dad but he has the right qualities. I don't count Maria as a hero at all despite her looking hot in the Plata Peligrosa outfit; honestly some of her reasoning don't line up or "work" from a story perspective anymore.

In terms of Nickelodeon dads, Rodolfo is the exact antithesis of Fire Lord Ozai.
So true!! Ozai is pure evil who is filled with so much hatred and cruelty who wants to take over the whole world because he believes that he and his nation are far more superior than anyone else. And let's not also forget that he doesn't even loves his own kids, he doesn't even sees them as his kids. With zuko, he considered him weak, scarred zuko's eye, and banished him. Meanwhile with azula, he may have treated her as the golden child but he still didn't saw her as his daughter, to him azula was nothing but just a a tool for war.
But Rodolfo though, he is the complete opposite. While ozai is the evilest nicktoon dad, Rodolfo is the most kindhearted nicktoon dad. He is pure, heroic, kind, sweet, nice, hard working, a child at heart but also still responsible. And of course he loves his son manny so much that all he just wants is for manny to be on the right path. I swear, i freaking love rodolfo. He will always be my favorote nicktoon dad 😊

That show (The Casagrades) is basically a inferior version of this show plus while I am not saying that you have to be the ethnicity to understand the culture it also helps that the show was created by two Mexicans.

Yes!! I love that rodolfo isnt the typical dumb unlikable dad type of character. Instead he is more of a adorable himbo who all he wants is doing what's best for miracle city and making sure that his son does the right thing.

Rodolfo is one of a series of fictional characters that made me realize I am into men who:
-are dorky
-are kind
-can command respect/be firm when needed
-would probably wag a concerned finger at me in a stern manner if they found out that I hadn’t eaten anything or hadn’t drank any water all day
That’s why I love him so much. He is a nice example of positive masculinity. He is responsible, hard working, tough, but yet he can also be such a sweet and silly guy. And also sensitive since there are moments where he cries. Some guys think that crying is considered weak or less-manly but Rodolfo isn’t afraid to be honest with his feelings, even when he gets emotional. He is such a sweetheart 🥺
