Truth about the waterproof and thermal liners in the Sand jacket and pants. I have the Sand 3 top and bottom and those liners live in the closet and will be there forever. Wearing layers under as needed, and light rain gear on top is the way to go.
@@MotoPavilion I did that for a while, but it's such a fiddle to get the thing installed in the jacket without twists in the sleeves, doing up little buttons, etc. that I don't bother now. I have RevIt Acid ultralight top and bottom rain gear in the tail bag instead, and they're faster and better. The Sand setup is backwards - rain gear should be on the outside.

None of the major motorbike apparel manufacturers have a shop in Sri Lanka. To purchase riding gear i rely on only two trusted youtube channels. One is yours. I purchased a Tornadoe 3 which comes with a waterproof/thermal inner jacket and trousers and later came to know the advantage of layering. Thereafter bought inner thermals and rain gear separately because of the difficulty in changing while riding. Preparing a Central Asian trip in summer 2023 and your channel is basically the main source of information. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and have a great trip
Agreed about those stupid snap-in liners! What a ridiculous idea. For really cold days I carry a down sweater, it packs down to nothing. For rain, I use thin rain gear like Frog Togs. Simple, fast, convenient.

Spot on, Pavlin. Layers and combinations every time😉. Chances are you'll want a warm casual jacket or fleece for when off the bike sightseeing or whatever anyway. Get double usage and wear that under your motorcycle jacket if you need extra warmth. No need for the jackets zip in/zip out warm layer. Gloves:a lighter Summer weight pair and a warmer waterproof pair. And I carry a pair of glove liners to give a little more flexibility to both pairs. A lightweight waterproof over jacket and trousers and I'm good to go.
I have gone to a laying system as well , 1. Boots - short length Forma ADV boots 👢, can also use off the bike for walking around, hiking etc . 2. Socks 🧦 long motorcycle socks X3 pair 3. Pants my John Doo Cargo AAA rated , inbuilt D30 style armour, love the knee armour as it adjustable up ⬆️ or down according to your height. 4. Waterproof compact overpants ( compact ) 5. Also around X3 T-shirts 6. Compact thermal top 7. Knox Urban pro 2 jacket 🧥, ( it’s a AAA rated body tight ventilated that has D30 style armour and Abrasion resistant as well . 8. Pull over from Knox it’s also AA rated and made from sprecta - 15 times stronger than steel 9. Alpinestar over jacket 🧥 light weight like yours , wind resistant and water 💧 resistant. Also has good vents . If it gets to hot 🔥 I just ride with urban pro on . 10 . Gloves x 2 sets one summer and one ☝️ winter 11. Neck warmer 12. And my new Arai ADV helmet.

Merino wool is the only thing I will put next to my skin. That includes my socks and my underwear. I only travel with 2 t shirts, under wear and socks. I have worn one pair for a week before without it smelling. A packable puffer jacket and over the top rain gear for cold. I have found over the years that proprietary motorcycle gear is highly overrated and expensive.

I use Rev'It! pants and jacket. The jacket seems to be a perfect size for my shape, the pants have been difficult since I have wide hips for a man. I've bought 3 pairs of Cayenne 2 pants, the crotch ripped on the first two. This 3rd pair is holding up just fine. No thermal liner or rain liner, but I don't ride in much rain. I love they pockets. I can never have enough pockets for some reason. I've had the Tornado Jacket for years, and it's really durable. It has the rain/thermal liner, and it's not too expensive. For gloves and boots I go A-Stars.
I prefer leather pants with stretch inside the legs on long mainly road trips. Foul weather ? I put on an rainoverall which is on outside of my luggage as a little foldable bag. Breathable pants do not work for me on the bike and start scratching on my sweat skin in high temperatures

Inside - none! Outside 2 degrees. The helmet has at least 5 centimeters of foam insulation + a cover. To have a temperature difference you have to leave it in the sun for many many hours and it would be just a little.
Hello Pavlin, thanks for this video. It has so many practical tips on riding. I share the same opinion about layering. I started riding with Revit Sand 3 jacket. Its a super jacket but its super annoying to change inner linings - warm and water proof. Instead Im wearing rain jacket over, its way more convenient. Hello, I would ask you, where to leave my riding gear while camping? If I will have a tent I dont want to smell my boots all night. Where amd how to store my jacket, pants to prevent morning fog, to not get wet my gear. My first idea was put boot on the mirrors 😆
I have the Sand 4 h2o jacket and pants in preparation for a trip to Ladakh, India. Had similar worries about taking the inner layers on and off. I think I'm going with your advice to stick with a proper thermal inner layer and use my Sand rain jacket on the outside if the need arises. For the pants I think leaving only the waterproof layer in will not be too bad, my legs tend not to overheat as much as my torso. All the best for your coming trip!
I got used to riding with my riding pants. Then did just a short 2 day trip only 80km a day so I didn't bring them. I was regretting it I didn't realize the difference they made for my butt on even a fairly short journey. this was in Jammu so 80km is hours in the saddle
Revit makes great gear but their rain layer absolutely needs redesign to be over top. Like you said, who wants to strip at the road side and take their gear apart?
There are some gear for multiple use that can work on hot & cold weather, don't you think it is better than carrying more than one item? All the best in your trip

In the past, more than once, I was stoped at airport check for explosives tests. Les than one month ago I was flying to Vienna and the airport security (seeing my backpack and my overall appearance) asked me where I'm going to (like I was going to "East").

How do you handle laundry? Are there washing machines on camping sites? Or maybe it's best to book an apartment once a week to wash thermals/t-shirts?

Since 2011 I only buy white helmets (flip-up Shoei) they reflect the heat and keep my head much cooler, as well as helping with being more visible.
