In the novel, Hu Zhen dies by the hands of Cheng Pu just after Hua Xiong dies, which is probably why his death is included in the event and why Cheng Pu also gets a little boost from it.
I remember playing Romance of the Three Kingdoms 8 when I was a kid. It was the first strategy game I ever played, and my buddy and I usually stuck ourselves in our favorite factions. He was Cao Cao, and I was Sun Jian. We also played our own created characters and stick super close to the crazy powerful factions so we could knock them off the map when we got the troops to do so, and it felt super great. We were kids, and this was the best at the time for us on the couch together.
Oh man, I loooove this game. Me and my Dad used to play this when I was a kid. That's awesome they remade it, I had no idea but will be getting him this for Christmas. Cheers for all the fantastic content as always!
Appreciate the super thank! And hope your dad enjoys the game! My father and I used to play Civ 4 growing up and a few years ago, I set up him up with Steam and Civ 4 collector edition and he now have thousands of hour on the game so I totally feel you!
Worth mentioning I will also definitely be picking this up. TW:3k was great but I am really excited to play this, the other Romance titles haven't really drawn me back in but nostalgia is a powerful thing.
When I was just 7 years old, my uncle gifted us a 486. One of the games he preloaded on the PC was romance of three kingdoms 2. I was instantly hooked. Just a few years later we got a Nintendo and I got the destiny of an emperor game. All of the sudden I got to know more of the history (and fiction) of the rulers, generals, and strategists. Later on PS2 dynasty warriors added more and more. I eventually got a copy of the novel. ST, the knowledge you have added with this channel has truly enhanced my knowledge and experience with the three kingdoms time period. Thanks for everything and I will truly enjoy this series. Rotk8 was a favorite of mine in the series.
I really wish they kept the hotseat feature from the original. I feel like this series could get a real revival with stuff like Parsec or Steam Remote Play. Imagine being able to roleplay an officer rising up alongside your friend who's managing the grand strategy aspects of the game.
Literally just spent an evening on parsec with 3 friends playing ROTK VIII on PS2 emulator and we all had a blast. I think it's borderline crazy to call it a remake with how different the game fundamentally is, and hotseat gameplay is one of those things. What you'd expect from a remake is a grand expansion on the original game with fresh graphics and additional systems, not what I'm watching here which resembles ROTK VIII in name only as far as I'm concerned. Was so hype for this but it just is not remotely the same game.
I am so incredibly excited for this release! VII was my first ROTK game, but VIII was the one that really hooked me. All the improvements and refinements are fantastic and I can't wait to get started! Also looking forward to more videos! *laughs in Sima Hui*
I have a specific memory of getting out of school early one day due to standardized testing, going home and playing ROTK VIII as Huangfu Song for hours. That would have been 20 years ago. By coincidence, today (the day before release) is standardized testing at the schools by me again. Excited to get back into the game. Hoping the Switch release is decent.
Finaly found a video that explains what's going on. Never played any of these games before but I'm so stumped on what to do, watching you explain everything really helps. Keep it up!
Great upload I'm excited to play this at midnight 😂😂😂 . Just to be an nitpick Bianshi became Cao Cao's concubine at 20 so not only did he meet her before this time he impregnated her at least 3 times already 😂
Same for me, played 11 and 13, 13 with the PUK is so good with all the career paths etc... Was always curious about the older ones but feared they would be too "outdated", a remake is the perfect chance.
LETS GO LETS FREAKING GO! I'm so looking forward to you playing this ever since the game got announced and your knowledge of Three Kingdoms history. I only played romance 13 with expansion and only did cao cao story during the battle of chibi scenario. Took me a long time to know what to do so I'm very interested on how you would play. Have fun dude!^0^
welcome back to RTK ^^ to get my attention. I haven’t bought the game yet as I am currently playing d4 expansion. If this is intriuging enough from your videos, then I may consider.
I started with the RTK franchise way back in grade school with RTK 2, 3 and 4. But these days, I dont usually bother with RTK (last one was RTK11). It has beautiful art, incorporating voice over and story but unfortunately the gameplay itself is usually relatively simplistic and straightforward. I really hope they can incorporate some of Paradox Games' emergent gameplay and difficulty.
The only one I ever played was II on SNES. I must admit I prefered Gheghis Khan which was a similar game. I always played England and they sold textiles. That's all I remember. lol
Finally!! I really want you to play rotk series as youw knowledge of the historical event, I thought i could be really fun for see your playthrough, Thank you
I've never been so intimidated yet so intrigued by a game before. How have I never heard of this series? I'll have to watch Serious Trivia to learn how to play it the right way.
I've never tried these games, but I love anything three kingdoms based. I don't know if you've ever played the Dynasty Tactics series, but it would be amazing if they remade those as well.
I just got my ass handed to be by a bandit as Lu Bu and Dong Zhou has shut down three of my requests at parliament 😂😂😂😂 ahhh ROTK 8 how I've missed you
There's not hotseat function as there was with the 20 year old original? Am I right Koei took this step backward? Most people remember playing it with friends. Sad to see. Thanks for the video.
Gao Shun not having any affiliation with siege weapons seems a massive break from the last few games in the series. I wonder if they've changed Yue Jin in the same way.
just to let u know, there is a what if in the game. There are actually skippable story. for example by accident i found the chibi battle where cao cao won by making sure i skipped the event where zhou yu prepare the fire ship. It is possible to avoid death and betrayals and lossess if u manage to skip the right story. For example in my playthrough, i played as Xu Shu and i actually managed to avoid leaving Liu Bei army and was with Zhuge Liang and Pang Tong and after that we restored the han dynasty with Liu Bei inheriting the throne because the emperor gave it to him.
Question: why do you think Liu Chong is omitted from these games? Even if he really didn’t do anything in terms of expanding territory, there are others in game who have done less(I kinda think he should replace Kong zhou)
He doesn’t show up in the novel and this game as the title suggests is based mostly on the novel. Granted Kong Rong does much more than Liu Chong historically
I know this might be an insult to the Rot3K team/fans but the meeting set up seems like a better version of the one DW:Empires Yeah just realised both series are made by Koei so it makes sense why they seem similar
RTK8R is a great game, much better than the original. I'm a little sad that Traits in RTK8R is too exclusive, and some of the Traits are of limited use. That's why I'm dying for the DLCs and PUK where we can create our own Traits.
first time playing this game and any rotk game for that matter. I heard that it's best to start this way as a common officer. So should i start with this lu bu scenario then or go right to the beginning with the yellow turbin rebellion?
陷阵营 (Xian Zhen Yin) is how they are referred to in Chinese so whatever localization is just a preference although I don't know what boan would mean here.
The moment is here series trivia actually playing romance games 👍
Hearing you pronounce the names in proper Chinese really screws with my head since I still use the pronunciations that 10 year old me came up with.
Cow Cow

Me: "Cackling Sima Hui isn't real, he can't hurt you."
Cackling Sima Hui:
"Uoohohoho"
I honestly love the little explanation that you do regarding the individual merit/background of each character. Keep it up!

Worth mentioning I will also definitely be picking this up. TW:3k was great but I am really excited to play this, the other Romance titles haven't really drawn me back in but nostalgia is a powerful thing.

Sima hui laugh is legendary Lmao
I would like to see a free officer run to rp as yourself to see what you will do in Three Kingdoms

Definitely most memorable part of ROTK VIII
RoTK always brings back so many memories. I wish that MP would come back.
I am so incredibly excited for this release! VII was my first ROTK game, but VIII was the one that really hooked me. All the improvements and refinements are fantastic and I can't wait to get started! Also looking forward to more videos! *laughs in Sima Hui*
I think 8 was way better but wasn't 7 where they had hot seat mode 8 players?
I played the first RotK on the NES back in 1998. Might have to pick this one up.
can't wait to play this ROTK 8 remake
I have a specific memory of getting out of school early one day due to standardized testing, going home and playing ROTK VIII as Huangfu Song for hours. That would have been 20 years ago. Lu bu has the same voice actor of Kiryu, makes sense
I was hesitant at first but I think I might wanna try it now. Waiting for a few more gameplay footage before deciding.
Great upload I'm excited to play this at midnight 😂😂😂 . Just to be an nitpick Bianshi became Cao Cao's concubine at 20 so not only did he meet her before this time he impregnated her at least 3 times already 😂
so looking forward to the remake being available to me, I used to play this game almost exclusively for years back when it originally came out
Lu Bu, my beloved. My favorite character in the RotTK.
Im buying this . I love the idea of being an officer like ROTK 13
If only you can end as a trader instead
I used to play this game alot on my ps2 till 4 am haha. cant wait
I been waiting for Serious Trivia to do ROTK playthrough cause you are my favorite Three Kingdom related youtuber
Thanks for the upload! Been looking for some gameplay before it's out.
Very excited for this as ROTK is a series I have really wanted to get into.
My first ROTK was 13 and i was really excited about this one :^D
My first romance of three kingdoms is 11 i had so much fun playing even do i had zero idea what i was doing cant wait to see how will this one fair
I still play 11 from time to time. Best of the series in my opinion.
@@jake5773 Yes something abut it is just great

KOEI is not exactly innovative with their gameplay formula
Nah...wait until you see the tower gatekeeping
Well played! 👏 Keep it up! 🔥
The one that I have been waiting for!
"Do you have any trustworthy friends ? I mean... We're Lu Bu."
lmao
My fave thing to do in these games is to create an officer and join a faction. I loved XIII sphere of influence stuff it was the most fun for me.
I think it's interesting that they use the same or similar map for Dynasty Warriors Empires.
That title music sounds a little different. When I was a kid, I used to let it play while I studied. Invokes a lot of nostalgia.
ROTK8 hype!! Very excited for it
I played so much of this back on the PS2 in the early 2000s.
Hooo this is look interesting, hope you like this so we can see lot more of this series
I can't wait for this game. It's 7am and it's still not on steam yet UUUUUUUUUUGGGGHH!
It will be out tomorrow!
@@SeriousTrivia NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
The only one I ever played was II on SNES. I must admit I prefered Gheghis Khan which was a similar game. I always played England and they sold textiles. That's all I remember. lol
Master Trivia is back! hallelujah!
Nice ! make the Yellow Turban great again ! 👍❤
i really want to indulge my nostalgia but the price tag is quite insane
With these games I'd honestly recommend waiting to see if there's a Power-Up Kit coming at least, they tend to add so much.
I love the character art. I might have to play as Sun Jian to keep him alive
Looks like quite an ambitious game. Hopefully there will be Chinese voiceover for at least immersion.
So far only JP voice though...
There's possibility for the future
Finally!! I really want you to play rotk series as youw knowledge of the historical event, I thought i could be really fun for see your playthrough, Thank you
Not gonna lie, I'm stoked for this. 8 and 10 are my favorites.
OMG FINALLY A ROTK PLAYTHOUGH! I have been requesting this since the start of the channel haha
I was waiting for this, now time to grab some food and watch it
I've never been so intimidated yet so intrigued by a game before. How have I never heard of this series? I'll have to watch Serious Trivia to learn how to play it the right way.

I will watch you play before I decide if I will buy for myself, I really hope the game is good.
Lu Bu's AI-like portrait animation makes me think that he's about to start singing "dame da ne" any second now
I just got my ass handed to be by a bandit as Lu Bu and Dong Zhou has shut down three of my requests at parliament 😂😂😂😂 ahhh ROTK 8 how I've missed you
Soon as I heard Lu Bu's voice, I recognized it immediately. What's Kazuma Kiryu doing in the Three Kingdoms period? 😂
There's not hotseat function as there was with the 20 year old original? Am I right Koei took this step backward? Most people remember playing it with friends. Sad to see. Thanks for the video.
Thanks ST!
Fuck yeah!! I wonder if they added more officers in the game.
-Yo Cao Hong looks nice~ he became thinner here and looks stingy too LOL
Of course Lady Bian already met Cao Cao by 190 lol ... Cao Pi was born in 187
But they have him at 16
Oh this looks interesting. I have not really played much of this series.
now this is going to be content
Good to see this game is still the absolute best menu simulator around.
I love the series, specifically this kind of rtk games. But I would have preferred they remade X instead.
I can see where tw:3k took inspiration from xD
Sad not to see the proper wuxin colors on the chars tho
It's Lu Bu!
just realize bro got another ROTK content
Gao Shun not having any affiliation with siege weapons seems a massive break from the last few games in the series. I wonder if they've changed Yue Jin in the same way.
Lu Bu the flying homeless man
My favorite fictional is stil the split of the cao family
I could play as (and be mostly ignored) Lu Su! Please, my lord, not the swordsmen behind the curtain trick again!
just to let u know, there is a what if in the game. Was there any coastal road from Zhejiang to Gaungdong through Fujian in ancient time?
Jiao province (Shi Xie) now only has 1 city
Kinda wish there was more cities

Finally!!!!!!!!!
I see many bad reviews on steam, but so far game looks great! I haven't played since RTK 10 tho
the AI is shaky which I think should be expected but overall, its not bad for a remake from KOEI
Im still waiting for them to bring back the lieutenants from X. Cities with 1 officer are screwed and cannot do anything.
Do they have joke characters? Like Pan Feng, but absurdly powerful with, say, Pangu's divine axe?
Pan Feng is definitely in the game
Can you make a mtu lu bu campaign? But without those rules like only 1 settlement or chasing around traits
Already done something similar: ua-cam.com/play/PLV2U5Ov1FXfByzc7A3tZQagn2xVwTlgXP.html

Poor Liu Dai looks like he's constipating and having a headache at the same time.
Can you play as the actual Emperor in this?
PLEASE give us a remake of 11
first time playing this game and any rotk game for that matter. I heard that it's best to start this way as a common officer. So should i start with this lu bu scenario then or go right to the beginning with the yellow turbin rebellion?
Common officer to ruler let you experience every aspect of game play so I would recommend trying it out first
Also what happened to the Total War Three Kingdoms lets play? Has it been delayed?
yes, the last two week was a bit rough for me starting with my dog getting quite ill followed by me getting ill so it will be delayed for a bit
Is. Not sure if you'll get the same success as with total war but I really hope you do guides toer lists and like
Just wondering, will there be fictional characters that can be wives (just like ROTK13)
Depends on your friendship most likely
WE'RE GONNA CONQUER ALL OF CHINA IN THIS GAME 🗣️🔥🔥🔥
