The idea of commoners talking to the emperor like they are his friend is very funny, but the mental image of the emperor going to a tavern and speaking to officials there, robbing horses or counterfeiting goods is even funnier
When you started chuckling at Sima Hui, I couldn't help myself either. It's so goofy and funny, lol. This is a wonderful idea for a ROTK8R playthough though! You know, in the old ROTK8, Liu Shan had a unique skill I think it was called "Hero" or something and it gave him 100 maximums to all stats, because in that game your stats were capped to 10 points higher than your starting amount, without a special skill. So, he ended up being one of those characters that a lot of people tried hard to make work because the payoff was cool.
Return of the Laugh! 😂 I love how it's funny to start, then annoying, then it circles back to funny, and now I just gut laugh every time I hear it. I also tend to keep starting new games because I get different playthrough ideas and drop the old ones, so it is a rite of passage. Excited to see more ROTK8 playthroughs!
Dude I just watch someone else do a Liu Shan and I can't believe this is his actual stats. I thought it was edited. Very happy youre doing this challenge man itll be very interesting XD
@@Bruh-jz1se Average arts career nowadays, they just steal your likeness against your will as soon as you get a job. (in the TOS you sign, lol) You'll be working in perpetuity, whether you're alive or not!
This video series made me get the Remake. And THE MOMENT I saw in the options that the BGM can be changed to the Original, I was propelled back nearly 20 years when I first played ROTK 8 and 11 with my friend on the PS2. We played that deep into the night hours constantly and had loads of fun. I hope they do an 11 remake. I have that on my PC from when I bought it from Gamersgate many years ago and always go back to that title from time to time.
Hey ST I gotta a tip for you In RoTK games, Zhuge liang as a tactician never misses, so if he agrees, it will work 100%. Also, free officers you need to get information on them first before your tactician decides whether it’s recommended or not.
Surviving 40 years is a pretty impressive feat in ROTK especially when you are boxed in or low stats. I ended up continuing my campaign with Lady Yuan after Lu Bu died and it was definitely nightmare mode it took me until she was 54 to become Viceroy and make some progress in taking 10 more lands 😂
Tbf liu shan guidance was to listen to every zhunge liang advice who is much a ruler than liu shan who is just there to be a figure and symbol of hope and keeping people together
The idea of the Emperor traveling is viable/plausible. Either it could be as part of a public tour to show the rulers presence in various territories or incognito as a minor noble/merchant (kinda like what Gustavus Adolphus did)
Chinese Emperors did definitely sometimes go on country tours (some also had palaces in different places). But I won't claim I know whether it's appropriate for this time period.
As someone who has played Koei games for decades at this point, let me give you one piece of advice when it comes to "difficulty" with Koei. Before playing on any difficulty over "Hard" Keep in mind Koei only knows how to make things Difficult, not Challenging.
I think original game Liu Chan had that Hero skill that you could train him 100/100 in every attribute. Never tried that though :D The reason why I liked the original game so much was that it envolved. Decent officers became almost world class when 10-20 years went by. I usually played with someone who I can develop. Like Wen Qin etc. Now I actually tried original game with Liu Bei, Ma Chao and Sima Yi (resign and create own force). I like the battle system although I never follow advisors strategy. It's run/jog when attacking and intercept even if the castle has high defense rating. Worst part of original game was that 99% officers are captured during battles and even son of the ruler might change the force. Might try this one when price go lower.
would you do a northern expedition campaign next since you couldnt do that in total war. Also wasnt Chen Dao the commander in Yong An and Li Yan in Jiangzhou?
Honestly, Liu Bei rises to power is due to the brotherhood of Liu Bei, Guan Yu and Zhang Fei. But ironically the downfall of Shu is also due to the brotherhood of Liu Bei, Guan Yu and Zhang Fei. Even Zhuge Liang can't help Liu Bei. I guess what they say about power tends to corrupt is also true.
@SeriousTrivia LOL sorry about that I was writing a cmt at the end of the GI clip but autoplay switched to your vid, I didn't even notice until now. I could delete this cmt if you find this irrelevant.
Its okay Chasca is literally just flying around now! If the bottom half of the 5.2 banner isn't so stacked, even I was thinking about pulling her but now I will probably skip her.
I dont know if hard changes this for battles. But during a battle between armies I NEVER see the enemy go after my main stronghold. It makes repairing worthless imo even when I move my units away from it. Itll always feel like youre on offense everytime.
This is a tough question because I don't think the franchise is that good when you compare it to modern games. It was great back in the days (early 2000s) but they really never innovated too much. It is a lot more about nostalgia factor for older players and 8 remake is great for that. The best the franchise has to offer is probably 11 so maybe just start with that one and hope in the future that 15 will be good.
@@CrèmeTropBrûlée it is as good as any Chinese language show to learn mandarin. Serious Trivia from this mod where he recommended it for the game Total War THREE KINGDOMS when I start playing with Lu Bu when loading the scenario it throws me out do you have this problem
So this playthrough is about fixing the mess Liu Bei left behind? It is big problem indeed that Liu Bei neglected his heir education to the level that need more than 3 Liu Shan to beat a cobbler, as Zhuge Liang is beyond imagination at this point. Joke aside, What was education of Liu Shan in history? Was it this terrible? I known that among sons of three kingdoms founders, Cao Cao's sons have the best education, or at least more successful in archiving in education. Was real Liu Shan that bad? If it is bad, why it end up become such epic failure that Liu Bei fandom seem shame to talk about?
