    Super appreciate the video! What is the make and model of the large rainbow that’s $30?

      To be honest, I don't remember. It's been a while since I fished that. Let me check.

    Here in Utah on the Provo river, I’ve had my best luck when I can’t use flies, with a red spotted golden jakes lure. Get 1 about every 10 casts.

      Gear fishing is the best, imo.

    Hello
    I make lures in Japan that target overseas trout.
    I wanted to know what kind of things are used, so this video was very easy to understand and helpful.
    thank you very much.

    Rapalas, cutthroat, brown, rainbow, black n silver, patterns are tremendously successful for me. Always the sinking rapalas. I’m in Wyoming.

      What specific rapalas do you like and what size do you find works best?

    This is the video I was looking for thank you. I searched pretty hard for someone to say what lures (not flies) to throw for big brown trout. You got a new sub for that 👍🏼 what do you think about paddle tail soft plastic swim baits?

    I'm trying to experiment with catching trout using a technique that works great for me with bass. I use an offset widegap hook skin hooked in a fluke, and twitch it hard in still water and let it sink and repeat. but I'm thinking I need to downsize my hooks and flukes for trout. Do they make a widegap hook for a two inch fluke? do they even make a two inch fluke? I want to skin hook flukes and not use those jig heads with exposed hooks common with crappie and pan fishing. Any tips?

    • @InTheSpread
      @InTheSpread  Рік тому

      Good thinking Tony and thanks for watching. On the hooks, VMC or Gamakatsu are options. There are 2 inch flukes, but that is probably a tad small, unless you are talking about less than trophy size. 4 inches would be the way I would go. Zoom baits are great for this.

    • @InTheSpread

      Try nose hooking the fluke.

      @@InTheSpread I'll try nose hooking. Can you recommend a hook that will allow me to keep my 4 lb flourocarbon leader with a braid backing, or is it better to go up in line rating and use a thicker hook? Just moved to Utah from fishing bass all my life in the south, so I don't know if these waters have trophy sized browns or what. My thinking was I have to downsize for trout, but hearing im able to use four inch flukes is a surprise.

    • @InTheSpread
      @InTheSpread  Рік тому

      @@AntQuick1102 It really depends on the size of the fish. For the 3-4 inch flukes, a #4 octopus style hook is great. You can always downsize and see what works best.

    How do you get that Zoom bait down

    • @InTheSpread
      @InTheSpread  9 місяців тому

      It will sink on its own. You could add a small split shot to the hook shank, if you wanted. I don't have a problem getting down. How deep are you wanting to fish it.

      Where are you catching 40's. That's impressive. For sure, big trout eat all sorts of bait fish, birds, rodents, frogs, etc.

      @@InTheSpread it's north of Hardy Arkansas in spring river. It was hiding behind a point and thought it was a big carp till I saw the hooked jaws and spots. I've seen a bunch of 10-20lbs rainbows out there but my biggest brown before that was 7lbs off of a worm. I small mouth fish a lot there and my biggest smally was 4lbs. I'll be honest I hate trout 😂 but the browns taste a lot like salmon
