When I have excess onions, I Carmelize them, freeze in muffin pans and drop in a ziploc. I always have carmelized onions ready for topping burgers, quick fajitas, or just carmelized onion dip. It saves so much time.
Genius !!!
Omg this is genius! I’m totalLu going to do this!
I always have cheese stuffed tortellini, ground beef, Italian sausage & marinara sauce. That can feed a lot of people for when unexpected guess arrive around dinner time. Doesn't take long to cook.
Enchilada sauce & chicken. You can use it with tortillas or put it on rice or put it on pizza for an enchilada pizza.
Cheese pizza is a must have as well. You can add anything to it.
I always keep browned ground turkey in my freezer in one pound packs. I use it for chili. A pack of the already browned and frozen meat, 2 cans of chili ready tomatoes, 2 cans of chili beans and a pack of chili seasoning and I can have a pot of chili ready in 20 minutes. And it just happens to be hubby's favorite dinner. Winter or summer. Lol
I might have to make some packs up for my brother using your instructions. He absolutely loves chilli or anything spicey. His birthday is coming up soon so I might have to make him a basket of his favourite meals as his present (he is really hard to buy presents for).
@@dotcassilles1488 You can't go wrong with food!
Frozen bell peppers are a must have for me. Makes one pot meals quick and easy. Love your channel been silently following for years 😊
Omgosh I'm first! Woo hoo! It's funny seeing your peas called sweet peas....over here they're just peas or baby peas, sweet peas are a flower plant. Lol, isn't it funny how the same thing has different names in different countries. Spring onions for example can be these or green onions or scallions depending on where you are in the world....love your vids. I sure hope there's a freezer meals, or a meals of the week or any other type cooking video coming up soon! Miss these do much. Love to watch you cook and get tons of ideas and inspiration ❤️ from NZ
I grew up calling them English Peas! From Texas
I always have frozen diced onions! So fast and easy to add to a dinner that I want to whip up. Also, sliced bell pepper trio. I would much rather have these fresh but it’s very convenient to have as a back up when I shop my freezer to make a meal
Yes. I slice mine up and freeze before they go bad so I can still use them. But yes. Better fresh.
Hi Kim! Pls bring back Monday motivation. I always liked it. Love from India!
I’m going to be bringing it back on Instagram. I’ll be posting in stories.
My most recent discovery was not in the freezer aisle. Canned diced potatoes. Worked great in my egg casserole.
Prepackaged frozen diced onions from Walmart. Total game changer for me!
I get given a lot of bread as my friends is a food hero volunteer and gets the bread and other fresh food the shops are going to bin but it's still good to eat and I freeze it till I need it x
From the Chicago-land area, so frozen Italian Roast beef was always in the freezer (came in a white plastic container), you just dump in your crock pot and 6-8 hours later dinner.
For the green beans, try a squeeze of lemon juice to make the flavor pop. 😉 Learned that from The Pioneer Woman.
Its always interesting to see how food names change dependant on country. Take Peppers. In the UK they're called peppers, but the US call them Bell peppers and Australia call them capsicum. Zuchini is called corgette in the UK so we call Zoodles Corgetti.
The US has a lot more variety than the UK when it comes to freezer foods. I've never seen any kind of bread item in a freezer section here, nor dough. You also have a lot more frozen fruit than us. Never seen frozen peaches anywhere for example. Even frozen pineapple can be hard to find.
We recently saw bags of frozen soup in our local Tesco in both Tomato and Vegetable varieties, my mum batch cooks and freezes soups for lunches, but these bags could be so handy if we forget to take the homemade ones out of the freezer!!! Cheaper than the fresh ones you'd buy as well.
I like Mrs.Smiths frozen pies or cobblers for a quick or last minute dessert 😊 Thank you for the recipes!
You are so welcome!
Thx for the tips! (Btw- love your shorter haircut!)
Thank you!
I usually have a box of turkey burgers in my freezer. We love to grill those up in the summer for a quick dinner. Throw on a slice of provolone, some lettuce, red onion and avocado slices....YUM!! 😋
YUM!
I like to keep several of the same items in my freezer. Deli meat is another item I keep available.
I have raspberries bushes in my garden. They aren't producing much yet. But a friend let me pick from her bushes twice this week. I now have 18 lbs vacuum sealed in my freezer! And I'm picking again tomorrow. 🤪
I have minced, mashed and diced garlic in the freezer. I dice and slice onions and peppers. All in separate bags. I hate throwing food away.
Off topic, but your hair is adorable!
Thank you so much 😀
Thanks Kimmy for sharing your staple items and tips!😋
Home made garlic bread or herb bread is so yummy. Grated vegies to put with pasta sauce (to increase my vegie intake when my gluten allergy is making my tummy sensitive). Mashed potato, pumpkin and sweet potato mixed together. Fruit dipped in yoghurt. Frozen ice cubes of my favourite sports drink or cordial or tea or coffee. Diced bacon or ham. Leftover cooked roast meat like a chook or lamb, sometimes with leftover gravy mixed in, makes great sandwiches if you reheat it in microwave before or after you put on bread. Small amounts of dip or hommus. I live by myself so find I can freeze the extra helpings of a 4-6 serving meal like spaghetti bol or stroganoff or pork mince with the lettuce cups sauce you get in a sachet. Special fried rice made using leftover rice, vegies and meat from other meals then freeze in individual portions, stir fry meals with large amounts of leftovers I do the same thing, combining leftovers and rice with frozen stir-fry vegies and whatever meal sauce I have on hand.
After our huge half side of grass fed beef is picked up next month, I’ll fill the freezer with basic frozen fruits & veggies especially locally picked organic blueberries. 💙
I got here because of Big Family Homestead. I immediately subscribed. If Brad and Krista recommend your channel it’s gotta be good.
Great ideas Kimmy!
Awesome Kimmie !,, thank you 🤗
thank you so much for the freezer TIP'S
Great Video! Good Ideas, Thanks for sharing!👍❤️
Awesome content Kimmy, thanks! 😁
I love to use tortellini in my pasta salad with fresh veggies, cheese and Italian dressing. Super easy and very yummy.
I purchased a spiralizer to make my own veggies to eat fresh, freeze etc. nothing goes to waste
Great reminders and inspiration (not to mention, guilt relief! TY)
I’ve liked the different things you’ve been showing. I’m old school and miss listening to you & seeing you for some longer videos.
But I’m giving you a 9/10 for covering new topics. Fantastic job!!!!🥰😘
Thank you
You have been so helpful! I found your channel awhile ago and have been hooked…. love everything you do! Keep it up! You look great by the way!
Thank you Shannon
fab video Kimmy loved it. xxx
my granddaughter is my Mimi Our nicknames are Rabbit and bunny so veggies and mixed fruit are huge in our freezer but we try to freeze during " growing season" but I stock up from Sam's the mixed fruit bags and she sometimes just goes for those even in season because in the heat frozen fruit can be refreshing on a hot day.
I know this is going to sound weird but try bbq sauce on salmon. It's awesome!
Yum
I love to make pie crust and pizza dough in bulk and keep them in my freezer! When I'm in a pinch I do like using the great value brand pie crusts. They didn't crumble on me like the kroger brand did!
Thank you.
Great tips.
Frozen fruit & veggies are especially good for people who live alone, as they’re so convenient.
When I buy a bag of peas etc I often put them into individual bags of about 4 Oz. This makes them so handy.
There’s a company in the UK called Kershaw’s & they do the most amazing ready meals. My favourite is the roast chicken dinner one.
Also in the UK there’s a supermarket that specialises in frozen food. It’s called Iceland & is great.
3 items I always try & keep in my freezer are Warburton’s milk loaf, (Bread) fish fingers & ice lollies.
Fantastic video!
Thank you!
We use frozen meatballs all the time throw them in the slow cooker with bbq sause and can of cranberry sauce and cook till done. Soooo yummy over rice.
Thank you for the video it will really help
Loved this! Thank you so much.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Fun fact in Australia we call butternut squash we call it butternut pumpkin
I also so make my own cheese garlic on Turkish bread
This is interesting. Do you call other squashes pumpkin as well?
@@cnk2hoo squashes and pumpkins are definitely different in Australia! Butternut is viewed as a type of pumpkin here. Other common pumpkin varieties include Queensland Blue, (greyish skin) and Jap or Kent (mottled green and yellow skin). We don't have as many orange pumpkins readily available here, but there are varieties such as the Golden Nugget (which are mini pumpkins). Squash varities readily available are Button Squash (small, round and yellow) and Pimply Squash (dark green skin with bumpy nodules). There are many heirloom varities of pumpkin and squash available in Australia, but you don't usually find them in supermarkets - best off looking for them at roadside stalls or farmers' markets (or grow them yourself). Just to confuse the issue, we also have a a large orange squash called a "Gramma", which is often made into pies. I've never seen the yellow squash shaped like a zucchini that Americans use!
Love hat salad!
Hello there Kimmy! Excellent video!!! Have a good day. 👍🏻😉
Thank you! Great informative video
Glad it was helpful!
Have you ever tried making tortellini pasta salad? I've done spiral, etc. but never the tort until last week when I saw a co-worker's Whole Foods pasta salad in the fridge. $9 for a tiny 6oz pkg, but it looked SO good I had to give it a go. I bought a pkg in the fridge section at Aldi ($2.79), tossed it with broccoli, red onion, black olives, cherry tomatoes, fresh spinach, soft mozza balls cut in 1/4s, shredded parm, minced garlic, pepper and Italian dressing. It was amazing. My YAs raved about it, and it's the first pasta salad that got eaten up completely.
Great ideas. I never knew they had frozen zoodles or butternut squash. I'm on the hunt.
Very informative video.
We had air fried tilapia last night. But you could do it in the oven or on the stove
When’s the tilapia and pat dry. Brush on olive oil or any other or you prefer. Sprinkle on taco seasoning or blackening seasoning.
And then just cook so flaky. That’s a go to recipe for us
Also green beans almond one. Sauté the slivered almonds in a while first. Then cook your green beans (preferably the skinny ones)
I'm going to make tilapia for the first time this weekend. I plan to do a gluten free flour salt pepper dipped in Dijon mustard egg honey water, coated in crushed Almonds and shredded parmesan. Baked. Then drizzled with Dijon mustard, honey, vinegar, worscheshire sauce.
I love love your videos! You have given me so many ideas and your pantry has inspired me to redo mine. Now to just get it done...lol!
I'm so glad!
Frozen Riced Cauliflower is a game changer! Nobody’s got time to pull out that food processor! 👍🏻
I like to have Tortilla or Rav's in the freezer and a jar of pasta sauce in the pantry. That is my husband's favorite. If I don't have time to plan, or cook what I had planned, the pasta comes out. :) I have also started keeping french fries and tater tots in the freezer. It's just easier. I will buy a bunch of onions, peppers, green beans, whatever and chop them up to freeze for later. Great video. Thank you!
I like to bulk buy onions and bell peppers and chop them up and freeze them. This makes it so handy when I’m putting a casserole together and it calls for chopped onions or peppers.
I always have the makings of beef veggie soup. Hamburger, bag of frozen veggies, an onion and a bottle of bloody mary mix. Brown the beef, add to a slower cooker and throw everything else in and cook on high for 3 hours. BEST and easiest soup ever!!
Great idea!
What size of a bottle of mix? This sounds great--and a good pantry recipe.
It really is awesome. Easy! Delicious and Everyone loves it. I’ve been making and delivering it to all my Covid friends. Yes, I use the large 750 bottle. Zing Zangs is my go to… but I experiment with lots of other brands. You really can’t mess this soup up. Use whatever you’ve got. Sometimes I throw a few chopped , canned or fresh taters in at the end! Enjoy!!
You look amazing! I love your hair and in this video you are glowing! You are just a beautiful person!
Thank you so much!!
Kirkland frozen lasagna is fantastic!
Love the vids…
Thank you!
Love your channel :) I like adding a handful of Frozen chopped Spinach to my pasta sauses! It really thickens the sause too :)
I do the same, but with frozen chopped kale.
In our freezer we always have garlic cloves, chopped bellpeppers (made ourselves) and our favorite (typical dutch 🇳🇱) frozen vegetable: cooked red cabbage with apple. This is a great side dish with any kind of stew, or simply with mashed potatoes and some meat.
Is there somewhere I can find a recipe for cabbage and apple, it sounds interesting. I'm trying to find recipes with cabbage because it seems to calm my stomach after I have accidentally eaten gluten or lactose. I was recently diagnosed with coeliac disease (severe gluten allergy) and am lactose intolerant. I'm finding it hard to find recipes that I can eat without having to massively experiment with changing out everything that contains gluten and dairy. Blessings from South Eastern Australia, Dot
@@dotcassilles1488
This is a Dutch original, but there are several English versions of the recipe on the internet. Try looking for Dutch red cabage or braised red cabage in the title. I found several.
Like any old-school recipe, there are many variations, especially in the spices used. My suggestion is to first try it with not to much spices, and only use the one you like yourself.
Good luck trying! I hope it really suites your needs.
@@dotcassilles1488
In some recipes they use some butter, that will not suite you. You can use any oil to start the recipe and skip the butter.
I think its smart to have at least a half dozen frozen ready meals in the freezer...on a busy night or if you get sick the hubby or someone not kitchen oriented can get dinner on the table quickly and easily like chicken nuggets, corn dogs, pasta dinners, frozen pizza, potpies...that kind of thing. And no I don't think it necessarily has to be homemade
I have never found a store purchased lasagne that tastes good.
I don't know if it was mentioned, but I like to keep bags of shredded cheese in my freezer.
Absolutely!
I do also!
I love ALDIs frozen tilapia. It has such a fresh flavor. I have tried Walmart’s brand frozen biscuits but we’re not impressed. Love frozen meatballs in Jared sauce. Yes I said jar! Sometimes you need a little help.
From Trader Joe’s I keep gnocchi with gorgonzola cheese sauce. I add a little pesto and some Italian chicken and it makes a good quick meal
I also am looking for some fish recipes. I am trying to incorporate more fish into my diet.
Love ALL your videos.. QUESTION ...when is your yearly big planner coming out for 2023??
In just a few weeks. I'll be announcing the launch date soon. We're working on things for the website.
@@shesinherapron soooo excited. I love mine
Mushrooms. I keep a bag in my freezer and when I make meat sauce for spaghetti, I put some mushrooms in the pot. It bulks up the sauce nicely.
Yum
I keep garlic cloves and ginger root in the freezer. Makes it easy to grate into all the marinades or stir frys. Always having a pizza kit including cooked Italian ground sausage, pepperoni, diced onions, peppers, mushrooms , pinneaple in separate bags placed into 1 bag for the kit convenience.
I definitely have to try this as I have a recently diagnosed severe gluten allergy and I miss having pizza.
@@dotcassilles1488 I use corn Tortillas to make my little personal pizzas gluten free. I have used gluten free pizza dough kits and it's just weird lol
Thankyou. Wonderful suggestion. I have experimented with lots of breads and have only just found a couple I like. I don't know why I didn't think of using tortillas, just put them on my next shopping list. Blessings, Dot
Hi, Kimmy pls post your weight loss tips and food habits
My mom taught me to freeze loaves of bread and milk…pour off some of the milk so it doesn’t explode when it expands in the freezer..lol…when it thaws out it’s perfect👍🏻👍🏻 same with the bread! We stock up when it’s on sale
I've heard but was unsure of the things you hear, but I will try to freeze milk next time.
We freeze sliced bread and defrost a few slices as needed in the microwave (22 seconds in ours)
If you need to defrost milk in a hurry put it in a sink of boiling water for about 15 -20 mins.
It thaws out really well.
Sometimes I’ve often defrosted it in the fridge overnight etc but I often find that it’s still a bit frozen when I do this.
@@julietannOsfan1972 we usually defrost it in our fridge for like a day or two when we see we’re getting low with our other milk
Can you please show us a video about all the food you have prepared and you have cooked and put in the freezer how many minutes can you put it in the microwave or cooking time with frozen marinated preps- I can’t see them anywhere in your vids
Thank you in advance
Brown meatballs, make brown gravy and serve over egg noodles or rice. Love both, just add side veggie or fruit
Sounds great!
There are some freezer vegetables at Trader Joe’s.
What is your thought on saving space by opening the frozen veggie packages and putting them into one container? My problem is one bag may be too much for 2 people, and I end up with half bags of veggies that get lost in the mess. :)
Great idea
I put them into individual bag of about 4 oz.
❤️❤️❤️
Or u can cook with fresh n freeze or can
Expensive
I wanted just your inventory list -such as the inventory list for the freezer you showed on this video
I hardly ever buy any of the things on your list. I use my freezers primarily for meat (raw or cooked and portioned out for easy use) and homegrown produce (mulberries, tomatoes, strawberries, etc). If I stock it with convenience foods I don't have space to store the things I grow while it's too hot to can. I do however have a large amount of shelf stable food storage that helps me feel prepared.
May I ask what you do with frozen tomatoes and how do you freeze them? Whole? I have so many this year!
Hi it us Linda you look so good did you get your hair cut.
I def prefer Rhodes frozen rolls over their bread loves for several reasons.
I use the Dinner Rolls to make small pizza 🍕
We used to make pizza muffins using the English muffins cut in half. Tomato or BBQ sauce, toppings and grated cheese then either microwave or toast until the cheese is melted. Was a popular food at our school canteen.
Also I love making a heap of toasted sandwiches and freezing them. Reheat in microwave or let defrost in my "lunchbox". Best type used to be toasted sandwich with some cheese and canned spaghetti topped with BBQ sauce, tuna and Mayo, leftover spag bol, baked beans, really any leftover meat and cheese. My ex liked to put leftover mac n cheese or tuna money on his.
Tuna morney (a white/cheese sauce)
Kimmie I noticed in your freezer what looked like whole tomatoes. I just threw a bag in the freezer whole from my garden. But I don't know what to do with them? How would I use them? We have SO MANY tomatoes we can't eat them all fresh. I've been giving them to people but still have a bunch.
i usually throw them in a pan ,simmer them then blend to make a pasta sauce,or a tomatoe soup,if that helps xx
I was going to say sauce as well. I love Kimmie's recipe for pizza sauce. It calls for crushed tomatoes. I omit the anise seed, but keep it the same otherwise. So delicious and freezes very well! And when I need pasta sauce I just add a bit of water to it to thin it out. Good luck with your tomatoes!
Thanks ladies! That sounds good!
I was surprised to see frozen avocado.
I don't see your recipe below for the sweet and sour crockpot meatballs.

😍😘
👍💞
Have you decided to do a "pantry planner" only yet? 🤔🤔
One thing I always keep is a frozen lasagna! Try as I might, my homemade lasagna just doesn’t turn out as good!
The Stouffer's meat lovers lasagna is delicious. My guys love it. It is convenient.
@@donnastratton8397 that’s the one I stock!
I have had all of those things (except the tropical fruits...allergies 😔😔)in my freezers at times. Kimmie, aren't you gluten-free?? Do you have some go to gluten-free items....breads or pastas?? Or do you just make your own?? One of my children and myself are finding we need to go gluten-free.
I try real hard to be gluten free. We’re making changes.
Why so many freezers? Do you have large family or business?
All those freezers!!!! In the factory , during transport, in the supermarkets
And then at home! Let us be extremely careful with our energy sources dear friends.
happy to see the Walmart store that is the store 🏪 I have
