I think your content is outstanding as someone who used Photography as a means to heal from grief. I find your stammer and sometimes nerves demonstrate someone with so much skill at UA-cam and photography/ videography is also a real person he's just teaching other normal people like me how to be better at what I have fallen in love with. Thank you for being my teacher and helping me believe normal people still exist in this world just trying to help others.
I bought this camera after your first video about it and I’m totally in love with it. Big thanks for your content, I truly appreciate your work. I’m filming videos with my iPhone using Filmic Pro app, but I’m always taking pictures with my Canon, and funny thing is, I’m not a professional anyhow, but I somehow managed to match the colors and the vibe in general of my videos from Filmic Pro and my photos from Canon. But most important, I’ve started to make way more photos for my Instagram and now my page looks better and it makes my eyes happy.
I got this camera for my wife a few years back. It's pretty good for what it is. It's in a very similar condition to yours after travelling with it for so long. We bought new screws for the back screen in the electronic district of Osaka so I learned that they're called neji in Japanese. I've got to say, the jpegs are pretty great and if you use the Camera Window software you can upload your own custom HSL and Tone curves to shoot in-camera. Combined with the internal ND, zoom, and nice digital IS it's probably the best casual video camera under $3k.
I bought my G7X pre-covid...got outdated and bought myself a Sony A7III and I shelved my G7X. I recently took it out of storage and started using it again. I appreciate the rustic look that it gives and comes relatively close to film. I found my love for my G7X again.
Recently discovered your channel (from your Canon G7 video like everyone else). I'm so inspired by your content and it's making me pick up photography again after 5 years of feeling not good enough. Thank you for taking the effort outside of your day job to create content and educating us. Cheers.
The front ring of mine is set to step zoom, so I can switch between 24-28-35-50-85-100 mms by clicking through the ring which is great to keep things consistent. I'm using shutter priority with auto ND filter, auto ISO with 4000 upper limit and I have the shutter speed and expo comp on my thumb with the dials, combined with consistent focal lengths, I just couldn't ask for more and easier control.
I bought this camera a while ago but shelved it. Your recent videos have made me want to pick it up again. I’m heading to Coachella next week and I think this will be my go to! I would love to see an apartment tour! It looks like an awesome spot
I’ve been a big time fan of film photos but don’t want to fork out $2k plus for the fujifilm and iPhone just don’t hit the spot. Recently found my g7x mii packed away and came across your video, it’s helped me so much just to get back into this camera now, thank you !!
I'm also the one who was influenced by your vid about G7 xii. You just found the perfect solution for me - tiny compact camera that shoots analogue-like photos. Thank you G.
Congratulations on all the new life changes! I hope it all goes well 👍🏾 Thanks to your other G7X video I have picked up my old original version and have been experimenting with it. I hope I can reach a look I enjoy with it, I think nowadays we are so used to reaching for the new best thing or release and your video reminded me of actually how we should treasure what we own already and give it more love. Im so glad I discovered your channel and also cant wait to see what other content you put out! Side note:- Your voice is so soothing and yes we would love a house tour 😀
Thanks for the great video. I let go my Sony Mirrorless camera and bought Canon G5x Mark ii since i like photography.. and it has viewfinder which i love it.
This is a great tip and would like to say thanks is that I bought the canon G7xii also purchased the dehancer plugin because of you and your videos. It inspired me to go out and shoot more pics and I've been loving it so far. So keep up the good work and hope you have a fantastic day
I'm super pleased you did a video about a "junky" old camera, and used that funky green thing ;) to shoot the back display. I think you even used manual focus for that, right? But I totally agree that what is in the photo matters way, way more than which light-tight box you used. Suggestion: do a slide show/review of your "best" photos and then reveal at the end which camera was used for which photo. (You could even pull in some from other photogs.) I'm guessing that you have good photos from each camera, and that mostly which camera was used was mostly "that's the camera I was using at the time".
@@UlyssesAokiPhoto And don't forget to mention which camera strap was involved. (Was just watching another of your vids and trying to figure out what camera strap you have on that Q.)
Hi Brilliant video, Unfortunately I upgraded to the G7X mark iii for video purposes, now want to backtrack. When you mentioned 'image profile' in the video do you mean you shoot in 'standard' mode, as opposed to Fine Details or Landscape settings in the camera ? Thanks for a brilliant video, both of them :)
Would you kindly create a video settings for video shootings? I have the same camera and you're changing my opinion on it, started to love my little bud lol
Amazing video as always , i have a question about buying a camera i m stuck between this one and the mark iii , i m in love with the mark ii after watching your video but i was wondering whether the mark iii would be as good or even better than this camera , do let me know thanks :)
I’ve seen your videos/photos with the g7x ii. Do you think the same characteristics (lens bloom, colour, etc) would hold with the newer g7x iii or g5x ii ? Thank you!!!
hi ,i want to ask you that if i want to take a selfie with my friends and of course i am the one who is closer to the camera, how can i put every one in focus??because the camera keeps putting just me and blur the others,i will be soo gratefull if you answer me, thanks
First I got g9x mrk ii but after I realised that aperture is too high n I can't shoot portraits and can't zoom much . that's why I bought g7x mrk ii and I am so much satisfied and happy ❤
hi. can you get the same kind of film look on the g7x iii? while also having other benefits? or these cameras have very different looks so you lose the vintage effect?
i've got myself the g5x mark II after seeing his G7x II youtube video. The EVF is for me a must outdoor ... Also the G5x Mii gives you just a bit more zoom. Love it.
There is a problem in recomposing after half pressing the focus with this camera. In my experience, it locks both focus and exposure on half press which we don't want that. Like the DSLRs or mirrorless cameras, only focus need to be locked leaving exposure free to change as you recompose because the light changes on recomposing as the frame moves. For instance a bright spot in the background was not within the frame while locking the focus but when you recompose after locking both the focus and exposure the bright spot enters the frame and as the exposure is already locked, the camera ends up blowing up the highlight. Is there any solution tho this? I have checked the menus and did not find any option to toggle between focus&exposure lock and focus lock only unlike DSLRs and mirrorless cameras where this option is available. Please help. Another big problem with this camera is that the step zoom function in manual exposure mode (M) is not available. We street photographers need to be absolutely sure at what focal lenth the lens is at. Everything depends upon the focal length such as perspective, how close we should go the subject etc. Is there any fix for this problem?
You can use the Ring Func button to lock focus, then the shutter is just for exposure. Bit fiddly though, and not as easy as locking or tracking focus with a proper AF ON button.
Does anyone else get a lot of audible autofocus noise with this camera? And I don't mean in video recordings; I can just hear this thing working hard when I'm using the camera.
@@guidokok683 I've tried all the autofocus setting and disabling stabilization. It just seems like the mechanism is very loud compared to my other cameras, which are nearly silent unless I'm putting my ear up to them.
