When I saw Frank Shamrock in a Walker Texas Ranger clip, I just had to click on it! I thought it was going to be some corny fight scene favoring karate but man I was impressed how they pulled it off. The fact for it's time the way martial arts was, they were able to execute so many fantastic grappling techniques and jiujitsu. I was impressed, it was really thought out and performed well by both martial artists!
Kinda cool to see them using some early grappling and jiujitsu techniques here (probably Ken Shamrocks influence), it’s, pretty ahead of it’s time, Walker stuffs a takedown into a Kimura sweep then pulls guard and almost has a guillotine. Some modern movies like John Wick dont even incorporate grappling/BJJ to that degree.
So... to put this in perspective, Chuck Norris is 83. This was filmed in 2000 so 23-4 years ago. So Chuck was 60 when he filmed this. Not bad for a 60 year old man.
It's very telling thar they chose Frank Shamrock. They could have gone with Ken who is the more recognizable of the two Shamrocks but Frank is the more unsung hero.
