Dean had a home in Palm Desert and when his son died in the plane crash many people where greatly concerned about his welfare, Frank was constantly visiting him and always taking him to restaurants when he could get him outside. I delivered the Daily News to the residence when I was a young boy and occasionally I met him when I had to collect for the paper, he was a great tipper and gave me a 10 dollar bill for Christmas time. thanks again for showing this, Dean was a part of the desert community along with Bob Hope and Frank Sinatra. It was not unusual to see Dean driving in town or at the store, always a nice guy.

Thank you for sharing your somewhat sad, and wonderful memories Bill.
I love Dean Martin's music. I've always felt that I was born in the wrong era. Some have made fun of me for being into his music.
Thank God, we will have his music forever.

This video is not correct on one thing Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis were good freinds for years and stared together in alot movies. Until they had a big fall out with each other and they never talked to each other after that at all. You need to research your information more. Then the rat pack became the rat pack was only three people Dean Martin Sammy Davis Jr and Frank Sinatra. I grew up watching them and all them had ties with the mafia especially Frank Sinatra so before you make a video get your facts straight. I enjoy your videos cuz always have your facts straight but in this case you don't and people my age know what i just told you. But thank you for your videos

Regis Philbin who used to work on the Dean Martin Show said there was no rehearsals for the show. Dean just came out and did his thing. An amazing talent but nothing beats his Roasts.

Martin was more involved with the show the first two years, so I've read. That included the dress rehearsal and final taping. Later, he showed up around noon. He watched a recording of his stand-in doing his stuff. Then, he went out and did it, relying on cue cards and his own adl-ibs. He sang songs he was familiar with. If there was something new, he was supplied tapes to listen to before the show. (Tom Bosley claimed Dean only sang four songs per season, with a range of four notes. That wasn't true.) The taping was arranged so Dean did his stuff first, then the solo numbers were taped. Dean was out of the tux and relaxing at home while the show continued taping.

I'm one of Dean's biggest fans. Everything that you have mentioned I know by heart. Just to let you know that this is by far the best information ever shared about Dean with the viewers. What I admire about your or information is that you're very detailed, and very informative. God bless and may he rest in peace.

At venues where the Rat Pack was performing some hotels/casinos said that Sammy had to come in through a back door. When told that, Sinatra said Sammy enters with the whole Pack or the Pack wouldn't perform. After that there were no problems for Sammy.

He was always so cool, and had a voice that made you tingle (and I was just a kid!) The end was so sad. Just saw his episode of "Autopsy" and Scott Michaels' vid of his empty home in Palm Springs. You always include important research, are the #1 storyteller in my opinion. I always appreciate your thoroughness.

I was crazy for Dino (of Dino, Desi and Billy) back in the day and I've always admired his famous Dad. I remember when DD&B sang in "Murderers Row", one of Dean's "Matt Helm" movies. It was heartbreaking when Dino died. Dean Sr. never got over losing his beautiful son. Amy is correct - Dean did NOT drink alcohol when he performed. He joked about it, but it was all part of his act. Anyway, THANK YOU for doing this wonderful vlog on a true Hollywood icon.

4 kids with the first wife. Dean didn't come to any practices during the week, but he showed up for the taping with all of his songs ect performed perfectly. Now they did adlib lines which he thought would not have same effect if rehearsed. I'm not sure, but I don't believe he knew who the special guest was so his reaction could be spontaneous Everyone should read Deana Martin's book- Memories Are Made of This.

My late grandpa loved Vegas - he also had a thing for the ladies... and gambling. He once told a story where he was in a casino and Dean Martin sat next to him and chatted with him and wanted to buy him a drink. Since grandpa wasn’t a drinker he tried to decline, but relented after it was insisted. This was during the Martin and Lewis era, and my grandpa also said Jerry Lewis entered the casino and was very rude to a fan. Grandpa didn’t like Jerry Lewis after that but Dean Martin was just the greatest guy as far as he was concerned.

T0 Marnie: your grandpa was right. Jerry Lewis could be a little short to fan's and people in general. I was at a music store in Cincinnati. Lewis was working at Beverly hills night club across the bridge in northern Kentucky. Lewis walked in and needed a trumpet to use in his act. The salesman offered Lewis a cheap entry level model because it was only a prop. Lewis became a real asshole and bought the most expensive model they had. So much for looking out for the customer

When I moved to Los Angeles 20 years ago, my first job was working as a waiter at The Hamburger Hamlet restaurant on Sunset Blvd. It was one of Dean Martin’s regular haunts when he was still alive. There was a table; a little 2- top as you entered the Tap Room area of the restaurant, where Mr. Martin preferred to sit. It was frequently requested and inquired about even though he had been gone 5+ years at that time. People from all over the world would ask about it. I worked there 4 years and met many, many people from that era of Hollywood, including his daughter Deana and her husband John. I sure miss that Hamburger Hamlet but it has gone the way of most of the Sunset Strip in the past decade or so...no more. Thanks Jordan- A guy after my own heart with this interesting history of all things Hollywood😎

The ‘Rat Pack’ was actually formed in the late ‘40’s, with Humphrey Bogart as the recognized leader. It was Lauren Bacall that came up with the name ‘Rat Pack’ after looking at the group the morning after a night of carousing. Sinatra joined soon after, with the Pack most people recognize joining in the early ‘60s.

The more I see todays so called talented entertainers, the more I gravitate to the yrs of Deano's hay days. He truly was an entertainer and w a voice like no other. May he RIP.

I read somewhere that Dean was one of few people Elvis idolized... He was also a great friend of Marilyns and stood up for her when Fox tried to replace her in "Something's got to give". Dean had final approval of his leading lady, and refused to continue without Marilyn...

Dean had cue cards. I remember that one with Bob Newhart returning the gift of a toupee his wife had given him! 🤣
He promised his second wife Jeannie that he’d always be home to eat dinner with the family & he would tell Sinatra, he was going home. That was sad...the death of Dean Paul...not long after Rick Nelson passed with whom Dean played in Rio Bravo. Dean’s mother also passed away on Christmas Day.

The Dean Martin celebrity roasts were my earliest memories of comedy. Foster Brooks made my dad laugh so hard, when I watch UA-cam videos of those performances I understand why. Thanks Jordan
