I think this was very cool of you to cover this story about Elvis Presley. You told it with a very even hand and a lot of empathy for him. He struck me as such a nice guy who just didn’t quite know how to handle the tremendous amount of stress that came with being the person he was. The most famous entertainer of them all. Dear Michael. My uncle Scotty, was Elvis' first professional guitarist. My father, David, Sr., also worked on and off for Elvis over the course of seventeen years, 1960-1977. We lived next door to Elvis' father Vernon and both our backyards butted up to the stable area at Graceland. I had a chance to visit briefly with Lisa Marie at Graceland the weekend before her passing. I guess you could say, I'm somewhat of an insider. I want to thank you for video posted here. More than anything, it has to be one of the best, most sincerest tributes I experienced over the last 45 year. Thank you.
I met your uncle Scotty Moore when he visited England. I told him that I never thought of Elvis Presley without thinking of the name of Scotty Moore. He was a humble lovely man. Michael’s tribute to Elvis is so very respectful, Michael also seems a sincere, gracious man. Thank you.

What I learned of Elvis twenty years after his passing was his deep seated manners and respect to older people. He always addressed older people as Sir and Mam so sincere. Lisa had his qualities.
He may have been too mannerly for his own good. I know he was taught this from a very early age and was deeply ingrained in him. Once he hit Hollywood, those deep manners may have hurt his career. He was too nice to Parker, Elvis wanted to be taken seriously as an actor, and no one really gave him those opportunities to develop into what he desired. He should have broken his contracts regarding the films he was forced to make. All of that led to unhappiness and frustration on his part. I wish things had turned out differently for him. To many..he was a money making machine, and he knew it.
@@LadyCapricorn8he also had no business savvy and was surrounded by uneducated hicks, which he wanted around him. Elvis used to sign contracts without reading them. Yes he should've fought it in court and he could afford lawyers to divorce Priscilla but he didn't actively do anything about his professional career. His manners and respect played a part in cowering to the fake colonel but he was his own boss and failed to stand up for himself. He could've easily got Jerry Schilling to manage him or go on tour without the old boy. He already had a tour manager in Joe Esposito, he didn't dare leave Parker's side because he had thought him a father figure while his own father was inept at all of the things he too was unable to do and he lacked a spine to do it. Imagine how much more he could've achieved. He absolutely did not fulfill his potential professionally nor internationally. He could've sold out Wembley stadium for a whole year in London alone. Tragic, but Elvis made mistakes sticking with parker. He could've been rid of him anytime he liked. He chose to stay unfortunately. We still love him ❤

I know that Elvis was an Army Veteran. Good on him for not using any opportunity to get out of serving after being drafted. I realize he may have not been a combat veteran. I am a combat Vet of OIF, OEF and more. At 43 years old I am a 100% disabled Veteran. But doctors at the VA will stop at no lengths to give me whatever I ask for in terms of pain medication. I told my doc, “look, I have had a problem with alcoholism after I came back from overseas.” Without even blinking she wrote me a script for Ambien. Which when mixed with alcoholism can be a death sentence. Thankfully, I had the wisdom to decline pain meds. But in Elvis’s day, it wasn’t simply going to your doctor to manipulate them into giving you a script. You trusted your doctor’s judgment so you went along. Some of us maybe blindly or not so blindly. But a level of naïveté existed. Even still. Elvis was outwardly anti-drug and perhaps naive to the fact that his prescription drugs were just as bad. If not worse. If he was using street drugs he may have had people around him to intervene. But when it is disguised as medication it can easily go undetected. 7 of my brother in arms lost their lives over my 12 years of service. If not from suicide then from opiates. Prescribed by the VA. 450 day plus sober! Praise God

But Elvis joined the US Army to save his career? Didnt he? If Elvis had been given a proper actor education he could have become one of the greatest. But I would have preferred to see Elvis dedicated to his music totally.

I had the choice to either serve in the IDF or the Swedish Armed Forces (A Swedish father and Israeli mother and dual citizenship) and I served as an Arctic Ranger in northern Sweden instead of having to harass Palestinians.
Thank you for your kindness covering Elvis. As a fan since I was 15 (‘95) soon became a fan of Lisa Marie Presley as well when she released her 3 albums and multiple duets with her dad. It has been a truly sad week for Elvis fans in a way that fans like myself that were not born until after he died have never experienced. Thank you again and I still remember when you visited Spring Branch in Virginia Beach.

I'm in Australia. We loved Elvis in our family, and to this day, I am still a loyal Elvis fan. He died when I was about to turn 11. My older brothers loved Elvis. Anyway, I believe he was a very good man. He was under massive pressure to be at the top of his game all the time. Elvis was no pervert. He was, in a way, one of the boys, but he had exceptional talent. He was the biggest start of his day.
Some girls at one of Elvises shows put up a sign across a row of seats that said "Elvis is the King". He stopped and said "No. Jesus Christ is King". As far as fame goes I have seen ads for a new show "The Price of Glee". All about death and fame. God Bless Michael. Thank you!
The world was never quite the same after we lost Elvis Presley. His presence in our lives was just too great and when he died, it stunned millions of people. I still feel the sadness of Elvis’s death to this day.

At my husband's funeral, I had them play Love Me Tender and Loving You during the photo montage. Most people were crying by the end of it. Those songs reflected the love I had for my husband.

I’m from Memphis and went to several parties at his house. He was a gentleman and very nice, as much as I saw. I don’t know what he was like at his end but he certainly was lovely at the start of his career. My sister had a flat tire on a busy street and he stopped and changed it. Very nice man. 😊
I've told this story a bunch of times but..... My Uncle Steve(who lived in Memphis) used to date a girl named Patsy that worked at Graceland. We were up there visiting one Summer and Patsy asked if we'd like a private tour of Graceland? My Grandmother accepted and off we went (Patsy, my grandmother, my good friend, and myself) to Graceland. We went all over the yard and through the garage (and yes, there was a huge Pink Cadillac). We went in through the kitchen, and when we walked into the TV Room, there was Elvis in a white bath robe sitting on the couch watching football games on four TVs. ABSOLUTE NICEST GUY IN THE WORLD! Hung out with us and shot the shit for about a half hour. Took pictures with us and autographed an 8x10 for grandma, and two 5x7s for my friend and I. This was at the end of July of 1977. Three weeks later he was dead. I remember Patsy called us back home in New Orleans and told my grandmother they were selling a bunch of Elvis' Stuff, and did she want any? The white jumpsuit with cape was $5000 and they had handkerchiefs dabbed in his sweat, framed, and autographed $100 ea. My grandmother said (and I quote) "Patsy, if I bought any of that stuff, my husband would beat the hell out of me!" And so went my inheritance! The last time I saw that jumpsuit go through an auction, it went for (IIRC) $395,000............
Yes, he was, but he learned how to be that performer from African American blues, gospel, and jazz artists such as Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Big Mama Thornton, Big Joe Turner, Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, and so many more. Without them there would not have been an Elvis Presley.

Unfortunately at that time, people knew who Elvis was, but the African American artists weren't receiving any attention as if they didn't exist. It took the English white blues revival with rock bands to spot light those who invented the music. Paul McCartney told a story about how he was talking to a reporter about who influenced The Beatles' sound. He mentioned the African American blues, gospel, and R&B artists. The reporter didn't know who they were. Paul said, "Don't you know who your famous people are?" Elvis was great, but as people became aware of who these African American artists were, they got to hear their music, some of the finest music ever made. I am forever indebted to you for this video. I have defended him Elvis as a good guy, believing too that he wasn't a druggie nor a member of "The Mob", as known to most Americans. Very balanced and compassionate look at Elvis. He is a man who never hurt anyone, never said a bad word about another artist, never claimed to be a King, never took illegal drugs, gave away millions of dollars and sang gospel songs to put his mind at ease. Yet to some people, who have never done anything in their lives, he is easy to mock and abuse.
Never took illegal drugs is a stretch. He got his drugs through dealers with MDs who later lost their licences to practice medicine and recognized as drug dealing illegally
I've always loved Elvis. My mom (born in 1956) introduced me to his music when I was 2 or 3. She was introduced to his music by my Grandmother. One of the things that I love about Elvis is that he was HUMAN. He didn't care who knew that he believed in God, he loved singing gospel music, he owned up to his mistakes, he did his best to learn from them, and he was truly generous. I feel bad about his addiction because it is so easy to get addicted to opioids from medications, and then u add on the fact that he was put on meds that he never should have been on.....I feel bad for him. :( God bless u Elvis. @@Therealflash69 I was 2 when JFK was assassinated and remember my mom crying in front of the TV. I think that memory stays with me because it was the first time that I ever seen my mom cry and as a child I was very confused and maybe even scared. She cried a lot that day but I can assume it was because of JFK because their were no deaths in our family in 1963.
That is so awesome you’re related to Scotty Moore! I’m a guitar player most all of my life and Scotty was and still is a tremendous inspiration to me. I think he was an incredible player, even by today’s standards. He created a brand new style of playing and was the very best at what he did. I still listen to Elvis’s music and as always, Scotty’s playing blows me away. I only wish I could have told him how great he was. Maybe you’ll get to tell him one day…..
Elvis Presley probably brought more joy to this world than anyone save Jesus Christ. While he was a totally stand-up guy, and musically, there'll never be another person who can sing so well in so many different genres. We need both more people like him and yourself, Michael!

While as a writer who covered the life of Elvis for decades, I also know that all of these women love him immensely and would take great umbrage with your characterization, so you should be ashamed. Moreover, these are also only stories told from ONE point of view, and not Elvis', thus making your point about him being abusive total hearsay, otherwise known as BS. When, too, there's also no doubt that Elvis was far better with women than yourself, but there's also evidence too, in various books about Priscilla, that she may have cheated on Elvis first with a local Memphis, TN dance instructor. So, again, who really knows what the truth is while other than Priscilla, Elvis was never married again and was therefore able to do what he wanted. As to the Beatles, when they first came to America to appear on Ed Sullivan, Elvis was gracious enough to send them a 'good luck' note even though they were making the kind of music he wanted to, but he was nonetheless stuck in the movie contracts at that time. Then, two, as it was their dream to meet their idol, and there are all kinds of different stories about the night Elvis hosted the Beatles at his home, the one thing that can not be denied by anyone was that he was very much a most gracious host. Which leaves us with the only other erroneous story you are talking about in which you don't know all the details. As it can only be assumed, given your lack of specificity, that you are speaking of the note Elvis wrote to Nixon to get what was then a DEA badge, and a letter in which he spoke negatively of them being a negative influence because of pot smoking, etc. However, as we know, Elvis Presley was a very shrewd and intelligent person and knew how to get anything he wanted, purposely adding the line about the Beatles, though he admired them, because he knew it would most likely get Nixon's attention, and obviously it did. While Jerry Schilling who is perhaps the most honest man I have ever met, and was also Elvis' best friend, and there with him that day.... He has often told the story of how Elvis did that on purpose, simply to get the badge cited, but loved the Beatles as he would often personally say, not only in private, but also on stage when he sang their songs such as Yesterday or Something. When at no time, as Ringo says, as he has no idea what he is talking about, did Elvis ever do anything to try and have the Beatles removed from the United States, etc. While that seems a rather silly assertion inasmuch as he would so often go on stage and say he loved them. And I love the Beatles, too, as they like Elvis brought the world a lot of happiness, too, but unlike you, I'm not going to go and write a bunch of salacious, one sided rumors about people like John Lennon et al, who are not here to defend themselves!!! It's called having class.

I came to face-to-face with Elvis on the road to Johnson City Tennessee when our vehicles stopped side-by-side due to construction. He rolled down the tinted backseat window of his white limousine and started a conversation with me. That conversation lasted only a minute and then traffic started to move. We tried to shake hands but the span between our vehicles made that impossible. He was one of my heroes as a little kid. I use to imitate moves and my mama would ask me to do the "Elvis Freeze" for her friends. Lisa Marie's son really did look just like Elvis and there is a picture of him at that stage of his life in the Graceland Mansion. Thanks for the truth and the memories Michael! Blessings!
@@TS-gg9dk It was February 1977. You have to imagine he was sitting down but pulled his self up toward the window. He was already in a white jumpsuit with blue and gold in the neck and chest area.. Six months later he was gone.
I remember watching Elvis on tv movies when I was a child and thought he was the best looking man ever. Then when Elvis sang I was in love! Best-looking man ever, golden vocals, had an anointing on his voice, charisma, set his career aside to wear an Army uniform, the recipient of the Medal of Freedom, greatest entertainer ever, and "The King!" I request Elvis' songs all the time on our local radio station. Elvis had that special unique anointed voice that stood out among everyone else! I have loved Elvis since I was a child and I still love "The King!"

My father was friends with Elvis and they both served in the army in Germany together. My father was also one of two MP’s that were assigned to Elvis. He has some great stories!

I was told he drove for Colonial Bread truck in Memphis. One source say he was truck driver, most say he worked as electric helper. I had a dozen different jobs before graduating HS in 1973.. coulda been short time gig?
The only negative thing about the Spa Guy is if you tell him something he hasn't heard about yet he'll tell you he "Finds that not to be true", I don't care for people like that. I told him about an event in Las Vegas, I lived there 35 years, the Spa Guy told me his exact words, "I find that not to be true", I went along with that to avoid him blocking me off his channel but, I've never shared another story with him.

My husband is a shirt-tail relative of Elvis Presleys on Elvis' father's side. Elvis' Paternal Grandmother, Minnie Mae who lived with them was a first cousin with my husband's Grandmother. Their father's were brothers. Their maiden name was Hood. It was pretty well known in the family that Elvis' mother's side had a lot of health issues due to the fact that her parents (Elvis' Maternal Grandparents) were first cousins. As we all know, Elvis' mom died young, but her brothers also died in their 40's and one in his early 50's. It's obvious that he took a lot of the medication to self-medicate for a lot of the health issues he was suffering from. Thank you for your video. I am brand new to your channel, I'm very Italian and enjoy listening to your stories. I come from a large Italian Catholic family. I am number seven of eight children and I love that you are your wife continue on the tradition with your large family.
Great video! I grew up listening to Elvis with my grandparents. They both were huge fans of both his music and his movies. My grandfather’s cousin was actually in the service with Elvis! Both my grandparents are gone now… but seeing and hearing Elvis is always a reminder of them for me. Thank you again for an awesome video, I really enjoy how you always find a way to talk about Jesus in your videos. I mean as cool as Elvis was…he could never hold a candle to Jesus.
I have same thing. My Grandfather died in his 40s. My Grandmother came to live with us. She was a HUGE Elvis fan and some of my fondest childhood memories were watching Elvis movies with my Grandma. She & my Grandfather were a true love story. She was asked put by several men after he passed into her 70s she got advances from men. She always said ‘there would be no point - your Grandfather was the only man for me. She would then smile and jokingly say ‘well maybe Elvis could have been another man I would have dated after your grandfather passed away. She would then wink and say ‘just kidding - never lose your sense of humor no matter what life tosses your way.’ Elvis movies always remind me of my Grandmother. Also of my Grandma & Mom hooking record player up running out to porch & playing Elvis records and us all dancing outside in the yard to Elvis. 😊

I don't think Elvis' memories really ever left us. Elvis has been back so to speak....ever since social media started. I love learning new things about Elvis that I never knew. There's UA-camr's that started making Elvis videos awhile back. There's somethings I did know about him and somethings I didn't. I feel like I grew up with Lisa Marie. We are the same age and several things that happened to her in her life happened to me as well. It broke my heart when Elvis died. Then it broke my heart when Benjamin died. Then when my daughter called me to tell me Lisa passed away it broke my heart again. 🥺😢💔 I feel so sorry for her daughter's and her mother. I've been praying for them. I'm a Christian and I'm not ashamed to admit that. I love telling people about the good news of Jesus. God loves us more than we could ever imagine. I pray he will comfort Lisa's children and her mother and the rest of her family. I even pray for the fan's. Most of us fans that loved Elvis...loved Lisa just as much. I said, we are selfish. Elvis was Elvis. I don’t know why girls swooned over him but he certainly was an excellent performer and had a lovely voice.
Hoover had files on everything and everyone. Elvis served his country and was very patriotic. He was a good human being. He gave so much money and never got a tax write off . Elvis was a God fearing man . His favorite music was Gospel . I have a friend who meet him at 20 . He never said a bad word about him . He loved Elvis and never forgot his kindness. Michael thank you for this episode. I live 2 hours away from Memphis Tennessee and 1 hour away from Tupelo Mississippi where Elvis was born. You did such a good respectful episode on Elvis. Thank you. And I didn’t think that anyone could tell me anything about Elvis that I didn’t know, but you did. I totally agree with you. The irony of what Hoover was up to behind the scenes, and the FBI keeping a file on Elvis as a danger and a pervert just kills me. Elvis deserved better. People talk about his rock and roll but he also sang hymns so beautifully.

My Dad was names after Elvis. His name is Aaron. My Nan is probably the world's biggest Elvis fan. My Dad told me a story about the time he found out Elvis had died, he was 10 and he told my Nan. She thought he was lying and got mad at him and threatened to hit him with a wooden spoon. But when she found out she was devistated.
I think everyones gran/nan is the biggest Elvis fan, my gran used to put a black arm band on at his anniversary and blare his records , I'm a rock guy , Pink Floyd, the Beatles, the stones etc but I know most Elvis tunes (and I don't mind admitting it, he wasn't called the king for nothing) who doesn't know a single Elvis tune? Not many for sure.

Dear Michael. My uncle Scotty, was Elvis' first professional guitarist. My father, David, Sr., also worked on and off for Elvis over the course of seventeen years, 1960-1977. We lived next door to Elvis' father Vernon and both our backyards butted up to the stable area at Graceland. I had a chance to visit briefly with Lisa Marie at Graceland the weekend before her passing. I guess you could say, I'm somewhat of an insider. I want to thank you for video posted here. What I learned of Elvis twenty years after his passing was his deep seated manners and respect to older people.
He always addressed older people as Sir and Mam so sincere.
Lisa had his qualities.
He may have been too mannerly for his own good. I know he was taught this from a very early age and was deeply ingrained in him. Once he hit Hollywood, those deep manners may have hurt his career. He was too nice to Parker, Elvis wanted to be taken seriously as an actor, and no one really gave him those opportunities to develop into what he desired. He should have broken his contracts regarding the films he was forced to make. All of that led to unhappiness and frustration on his part. I wish things had turned out differently for him. To many..he was a money making machine, and he knew it.

Yes he should've fought it in court and he could afford lawyers to divorce Priscilla but he didn't actively do anything about his professional career. His manners and respect played a part in cowering to the fake colonel but he was his own boss and failed to stand up for himself. He could've easily got Jerry Schilling to manage him or go on tour without the old boy. He already had a tour manager in Joe Esposito, he didn't dare leave Parker's side because he had thought him a father figure while his own father was inept at all of the things he too was unable to do and he lacked a spine to do it.
Imagine how much more he could've achieved. He absolutely did not fulfill his potential professionally nor internationally. He could've sold out Wembley stadium for a whole year in London alone.
Tragic, but Elvis made mistakes sticking with parker. He could've been rid of him anytime he liked. He chose to stay unfortunately.

I know that Elvis was an Army Veteran. Good on him for not using any opportunity to get out of serving after being drafted. I realize he may have not been a combat veteran. I am a combat Vet of OIF, OEF and more. At 43 years old I am a 100% disabled Veteran. But doctors at the VA will stop at no lengths to give me whatever I ask for in terms of pain medication. I told my doc, “look, I have had a problem with alcoholism after I came back from overseas.” Without even blinking she wrote me a script for Ambien. Which when mixed with alcoholism can be a death sentence. Thankfully, I had the wisdom to decline pain meds. But in Elvis’s day, it wasn’t simply going to your doctor to manipulate them into giving you a script. You trusted your doctor’s judgment so you went along. Some of us maybe blindly or not so blindly. But a level of naïveté existed. Even still. Elvis was outwardly anti-drug and perhaps naive to the fact that his prescription drugs were just as bad. If not worse. If he was using street drugs he may have had people around him to intervene. But when it is disguised as medication it can easily go undetected. 7 of my brother in arms lost their lives over my 12 years of service. If not from suicide then from opiates. Prescribed by the VA. 450 day plus sober! Praise God

Thank you for your kindness covering Elvis. As a fan since I was 15 (‘95) soon became a fan of Lisa Marie Presley as well when she released her 3 albums and multiple duets with her dad. It has been a truly sad week for Elvis fans in a way that fans like myself that were not born until after he died have never experienced. Thank you again and I still remember when you visited Spring Branch in Virginia Beach.

I'm in Australia. We loved Elvis in our family, and to this day, I am still a loyal Elvis fan. He died when I was about to turn 11. My older brothers loved Elvis. Anyway, I believe he was a very good man. He was under massive pressure to be at the top of his game all the time. Elvis was no pervert. He was, in a way, one of the boys, but he had exceptional talent. He was the biggest start of his day.
Some girls at one of Elvises shows put up a sign across a row of seats that said "Elvis is the King". He stopped and said "No. Jesus Christ is King". As far as fame goes I have seen ads for a new show "The Price of Glee". All about death and fame. God Bless Michael. Thank you!

At my husband's funeral, I had them play Love Me Tender and Loving You during the photo montage. Most people were crying by the end of it. Those songs reflected the love I had for my husband.

I’m from Memphis and went to several parties at his house. He was a gentleman and very nice, as much as I saw. I don’t know what he was like at his end but he certainly was lovely at the start of his career. My sister had a flat tire on a busy street and he stopped and changed it. Very nice man. 😊

I've told this story a bunch of times but..... My Uncle Steve(who lived in Memphis) used to date a girl named Patsy that worked at Graceland. We were up there visiting one Summer and Patsy asked if we'd like a private tour of Graceland? My Grandmother accepted and off we went (Patsy, my grandmother, my good friend, and myself) to Graceland. We went all over the yard and through the garage (and yes, there was a huge Pink Cadillac). We went in through the kitchen, and when we walked into the TV Room, there was Elvis in a white bath robe sitting on the couch watching football games on four TVs. ABSOLUTE NICEST GUY IN THE WORLD! Hung out with us and shot the shit for about a half hour. Took pictures with us and autographed an 8x10 for grandma, and two 5x7s for my friend and I. This was at the end of July of 1977. Three weeks later he was dead. I remember Patsy called us back home in New Orleans and told my grandmother they were selling a bunch of Elvis' Stuff, and did she want any? The white jumpsuit with cape was $5000 and they had handkerchiefs dabbed in his sweat, framed, and autographed $100 ea. My grandmother said (and I quote) "Patsy, if I bought any of that stuff, my husband would beat the hell out of me!" And so went my inheritance! The last time I saw that jumpsuit go through an auction, it went for (IIRC) $395,000............
He had 13 TVs in the TV room.

Yes, he was, but he learned how to be that performer from African American blues, gospel, and jazz artists such as Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Big Mama Thornton, Big Joe Turner, Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, and so many more. Without them there would not have been an Elvis Presley.

Unfortunately at that time, people knew who Elvis was, but the African American artists weren't receiving any attention as if they didn't exist. It took the English white blues revival with rock bands to spot light those who invented the music. Paul McCartney told a story about how he was talking to a reporter about who influenced The Beatles' sound. He mentioned the African American blues, gospel, and R&B artists. The reporter didn't know who they were. Paul said, "Don't you know who your famous people are?" Elvis was great, but as people became aware of who these African American artists were, they got to hear their music, some of the finest music ever made. I've always loved Elvis. My mom (born in 1956) introduced me to his music when I was 2 or 3. She was introduced to his music by my Grandmother.
One of the things that I love about Elvis is that he was HUMAN. He didn't care who knew that he believed in God, he loved singing gospel music, he owned up to his mistakes, he did his best to learn from them, and he was truly generous. I feel bad about his addiction because it is so easy to get addicted to opioids from medications, and then u add on the fact that he was put on meds that he never should have been on.....I feel bad for him. :(

Also, if you have followed the life of Elvis Presley or know anything about him, it is often reported more times than one can count, how unlike with almost any other star, reporters can hardly find anyone who ever speaks negatively of Elvis. And, even the women, some of whom have spoken about Elvis having a temper and perhaps throwing a box of ice cream across the room or shooting his gun at a TV in a fit of rage, or perhaps even a bit worse, have ALL said that it was due to the unprecedented strain on him and the drugs he was given by his doctor to keep up with a schedule no one should have ever been put through. While as a writer who covered the life of Elvis for decades, I also know that all of these women love him immensely and would take great umbrage with your characterization, so you should be ashamed. Moreover, these are also only stories told from ONE point of view, and not Elvis', thus making your point about him being abusive total hearsay, otherwise known as BS.
When, too, there's also no doubt that Elvis was far better with women than yourself, but there's also evidence too, in various books about Priscilla, that she may have cheated on Elvis first with a local Memphis, TN dance instructor. So, again, who really knows what the truth is while other than Priscilla, Elvis was never married again and was therefore able to do what he wanted.
As to the Beatles, when they first came to America to appear on Ed Sullivan, Elvis was gracious enough to send them a 'good luck' note even though they were making the kind of music he wanted to, but he was nonetheless stuck in the movie contracts at that time. Then, two, as it was their dream to meet their idol, and there are all kinds of different stories about the night Elvis hosted the Beatles at his home, the one thing that can not be denied by anyone was that he was very much a most gracious host.
Which leaves us with the only other erroneous story you are talking about in which you don't know all the details. As it can only be assumed, given your lack of specificity, that you are speaking of the note Elvis wrote to Nixon to get what was then a DEA badge, and a letter in which he spoke negatively of them being a negative influence because of pot smoking, etc. However, as we know, Elvis Presley was a very shrewd and intelligent person and knew how to get anything he wanted, purposely adding the line about the Beatles, though he admired them, because he knew it would most likely get Nixon's attention, and obviously it did.
While Jerry Schilling who is perhaps the most honest man I have ever met, and was also Elvis' best friend, and there with him that day.... He has often told the story of how Elvis did that on purpose, simply to get the badge cited, but loved the Beatles as he would often personally say, not only in private, but also on stage when he sang their songs such as Yesterday or Something. When at no time, as Ringo says, as he has no idea what he is talking about, did Elvis ever do anything to try and have the Beatles removed from the United States, etc. While that seems a rather silly assertion inasmuch as he would so often go on stage and say he loved them. And I love the Beatles, too, as they like Elvis brought the world a lot of happiness, too, but unlike you, I'm not going to go and write a bunch of salacious, one sided rumors about people like John Lennon et al, who are not here to defend themselves!!! It's called having class.

I came to face-to-face with Elvis on the road to Johnson City Tennessee when our vehicles stopped side-by-side due to construction. He rolled down the tinted backseat window of his white limousine and started a conversation with me. That conversation lasted only a minute and then traffic started to move. We tried to shake hands but the span between our vehicles made that impossible. He was one of my heroes as a little kid. I use to imitate moves and my mama would ask me to do the "Elvis Freeze" for her friends. Lisa Marie's son really did look just like Elvis and there is a picture of him at that stage of his life in the Graceland Mansion. Thanks for the truth and the memories Michael! Blessings!

I remember watching Elvis on tv movies when I was a child and thought he was the best looking man ever. Then when Elvis sang I was in love! Best-looking man ever, golden vocals, had an anointing on his voice, charisma, set his career aside to wear an Army uniform, the recipient of the Medal of Freedom, greatest entertainer ever, and "The King!" I request Elvis' songs all the time on our local radio station. Elvis had that special unique anointed voice that stood out among everyone else! I have loved Elvis since I was a child and I still love "The King!"

My father was friends with Elvis and they both served in the army in Germany together. My father was also one of two MP’s that were assigned to Elvis. He has some great stories!

I was told he drove for Colonial Bread truck in Memphis. One source say he was truck driver, most say he worked as electric helper. I had a dozen different jobs before graduating HS in 1973.. coulda been short time gig?
The only negative thing about the Spa Guy is if you tell him something he hasn't heard about yet he'll tell you he "Finds that not to be true", I don't care for people like that. I told him about an event in Las Vegas, I lived there 35 years, the Spa Guy told me his exact words, "I find that not to be true", I went along with that to avoid him blocking me off his channel but, I've never shared another story with him.

My husband is a shirt-tail relative of Elvis Presleys on Elvis' father's side. Elvis' Paternal Grandmother, Minnie Mae who lived with them was a first cousin with my husband's Grandmother. Their father's were brothers. Their maiden name was Hood. It was pretty well known in the family that Elvis' mother's side had a lot of health issues due to the fact that her parents (Elvis' Maternal Grandparents) were first cousins. As we all know, Elvis' mom died young, but her brothers also died in their 40's and one in his early 50's. It's obvious that he took a lot of the medication to self-medicate for a lot of the health issues he was suffering from. Thank you for your video. I am brand new to your channel, I'm very Italian and enjoy listening to your stories. I come from a large Italian Catholic family. I am number seven of eight children and I love that you are your wife continue on the tradition with your large family.
Great video! I grew up listening to Elvis with my grandparents. They both were huge fans of both his music and his movies. My grandfather’s cousin was actually in the service with Elvis! Both my grandparents are gone now… but seeing and hearing Elvis is always a reminder of them for me. I have same thing. My Grandfather died in his 40s. My Grandmother came to live with us. She was a HUGE Elvis fan and some of my fondest childhood memories were watching Elvis movies with my Grandma. She & my Grandfather were a true love story. She was asked put by several men after he passed into her 70s she got advances from men. She always said ‘there would be no point - your Grandfather was the only man for me. She would then smile and jokingly say ‘well maybe Elvis could have been another man I would have dated after your grandfather passed away. She would then wink and say ‘just kidding - never lose your sense of humor no matter what life tosses your way.’ Elvis movies always remind me of my Grandmother. Also of my Grandma & Mom hooking record player up running out to porch & playing Elvis records and us all dancing outside in the yard to Elvis. 😊

I don't think Elvis' memories really ever left us. Elvis has been back so to speak....ever since social media started. I love learning new things about Elvis that I never knew. There's UA-camr's that started making Elvis videos awhile back. There's somethings I did know about him and somethings I didn't. I feel like I grew up with Lisa Marie. We are the same age and several things that happened to her in her life happened to me as well. It broke my heart when Elvis died. Then it broke my heart when Benjamin died. Then when my daughter called me to tell me Lisa passed away it broke my heart again. 🥺😢💔 I feel so sorry for her daughter's and her mother. I've been praying for them. I'm a Christian and I'm not ashamed to admit that. I love telling people about the good news of Jesus. God loves us more than we could ever imagine. I pray he will comfort Lisa's children and her mother and the rest of her family. I even pray for the fan's. Most of us fans that loved Elvis...loved Lisa just as much. I said, we are selfish. Hoover had files on everything and everyone. Elvis served his country and was very patriotic. He was a good human being. He gave so much money and never got a tax write off . Elvis was a God fearing man . His favorite music was Gospel . I have a friend who meet him at 20 . He never said a bad word about him . He loved Elvis and never forgot his kindness. Elvis loved his fans He actually gave most of his money away . I knew a couple of his entourage and they had great love and respect for him . Lisa Marie was never the same after her son died . Michael thank you for this episode. I live 2 hours away from Memphis Tennessee and 1 hour away from Tupelo Mississippi where Elvis was born. You did such a good respectful episode on Elvis. Thank you. And I didn’t think that anyone could tell me anything about Elvis that I didn’t know, but you did. My Dad was names after Elvis. His name is Aaron. My Nan is probably the world's biggest Elvis fan. My Dad told me a story about the time he found out Elvis had died, he was 10 and he told my Nan. She thought he was lying and got mad at him and threatened to hit him with a wooden spoon. But when she found out she was devistated.
I was 11 and mom had tix to see him a month after he died.....I was a bastard laughing....wooden spoon was the go to tool in 70s.... lol
I think everyones gran/nan is the biggest Elvis fan, my gran used to put a black arm band on at his anniversary and blare his records , I'm a rock guy , Pink Floyd, the Beatles, the stones etc but I know most Elvis tunes (and I don't mind admitting it, he wasn't called the king for nothing) who doesn't know a single Elvis tune? Not many for sure.
