That's the top speed they would reach with the standard gear ratios allowed by the the current ruleset. Each team in the Hypercar class can homologate only 2 different sets of gear ratios for the whole WEC season (including Le Mans), i.e. one for slower tracks and a second one for tracks with higher average/top speeds. If the Mulsanne straight was reverted to its old configuration without chicanes, this rule would pose a big problem, as these cars' top speeds on the next fastest track on the calendar (Spa) barely touch 330 km/h, while on other slower tracks such as Qatar, Bahrain or Imola, they reach about 300-310 km/h. On this year's calendar there are a few new tracks such as Brazil and COTA, where I believe the Hypercars could reach about 320 km/h.
With the current Mulsanne straight configuration, the teams run at Le Mans with the same gear ratios they use at Spa, and with such a gearbox setup, Hypercars' top speed would be around 350 km/h, as shown in the video (regardless of how long a straight they would have at their disposal). However, with a Mulsanne straight without chicanes, the teams would surely sacrifice one gearbox configuration just for Le Mans' race (since everyone would like to win or at least perform well at Le Mans), but then, with just one other gearbox configuration at their disposal for all other races, their cars would either be in trouble at tracks such as COTA and Spa, or they will be in trouble on the slower circuits, making for them impossible to even ever engage 7th gear at certain venues. This would be of course really bad for the championship as a whole!
However, I believe that, if the Mulsanne straight had no chicanes, the FIA and ACO would allow for a third, special gear ratio configuration just for Le Mans' race. Were this the case, then I think most Hypercars would manage to reach speeds around 360 km/h at the end of the Mulsanne straight, 370/375 km/h with the help of some slipstream. They could not go any faster than that, given the aerodynamics and power unit limitations set by the current regulations.

In the 70' they went 400 km/h without chicanes. That's why they changed the track like it is.
I did this in Gran Turismo 7 and you can go under 3mins with LMP1-H like Porsche 919 Hybrid, Peugeot 908 HDi Fap, Audi R18, Toyota GR010 Hybrid
LMP1s were quite faster compared to hypercars

It was actually the Peugeot WM 88, a car built specifically to breach the 400 kph barrier.
@@azarisLP The Baldi/Acheson Sauber C9 hit 400km/h in qualifying for 1989. Although it was the Schlesser car that held pole. The WM was the fastest measured car ever at LeMans at somewhere over 400km/h in 1988.
Romance says without but safety says with, particularly that given when I was younger I can remember seeing footage of a Mercedes CLK taking off at Le Mans and going airborne into the trees. It was a miracle that the driver survived that kind of incident. Besides the chicanes have their competitive merits too.
CLR**, but I remember. It was my first Le Mans I watched the whole way. He was following a Toyota that would later have its own frightening crash that ended the career of its pilot there and then, which is often forgotten.
Thing is, if there weren't chicanes the cars would be built differently for higher top speeds so this is kind of inaccurate
Top speed is slower than I thought. I really expected the hypercar to break 220 mph. Nonetheless a great video

Hypercars CANNOT break 220 mph. If you want, get an LMP1 or a Group C.

Ohh how about this. Lmp1 car vs Chiron. If the times are too far apart (you would know from testing this) give the Bugatti a chance and the Bugatti will have the full 6km straight and the lmp1 car will have to take the chicanes. What you think

Would have been interesting to see if Hyper cars or even the LMP1s could clock 400KMh. But I doubt it. The lap time will be shorter as they wont have to slow down for thechicanes and then get up to speed again Those Gr.C/70s prototypes were mental. Just like the Gr.B rally cars and Gr.5 sports cars

This goes to show, how fast the LMP1s were. I would be interested to see, how and where exactly the Hypercars are losing so much time compared to previous-gen prototypes
Acceleration. They are very slow compared to Kobayashi's lap. Kob hit 300 before the car in the vid hit 250-260 or so.
With no chicane, the cars would be much different from current one focusing more on reducing drag and maybe achieving speeds upto 380 km/h

They're gonna need Indy style spotters to help drivers from bouncing off each other at 350+kph. That would be nasty.
If they raced without chicanes, the 24hr race would be over a lot quicker

The length is about 13,626m, and it was done in 190 seconds. That's an average of 71 metres per second, 258kmph, or 160mph.
How did you get that specific car to go that fast? What do you change in the settings?
It's all driver! Nah, I'm joking, I used a pretty advanced setup, changed pretty much everything from the base setup

@@THEWINDTUNNEL Good. 🙂 Most people can't detect the motion blur or not due to the lack of flickering/strobe of most thin displays. But I can detect the motion blur due to my "CRT" monitor. 😊

An Hypercar
I actually thought the hypercar was a little faster on top end. Seemed to top out at 218 mph. Fast yes but an F1 car has a higher top speed along with superior cornering ability. I at least thought the hypercar had it beat on overall top speed in a straight line.

Bigger than you think. The lap record is from an LMP1 back in 2017. This years pole was 10 seconds slower, 3:24 (track was quite slow, a 3:22 would've been possible with better conditions)
