- In today's video, we offer insights on how to prepare for the NSW Selective test scheduled for May 4th, 2023. We emphasise that the time required for preparation will vary depending on your existing knowledge, understanding of the material, and learning style. The video features a step-by-step guide aimed at helping students make the most of their study time. Key aspects include evaluating your current knowledge level, familiarising yourself with the exam format and content, and devising a tailored study plan. By adhering to these guidelines, you can focus your study efforts, strengthen your weaker areas, and perform effectively in the selective test.
The 5-step approach outlined in the video includes examples specific to the NSW Selective exam but is versatile enough to be adapted for other exams such as NAPLAN, HAST, Scholarships, and more. John provides a general guideline for students, but it's crucial to tailor this advice to your unique circumstances, taking into account factors like time, resources, personal ability, and specific exam requirements.

@@BingsAcademynope 😭 I never enjoyed it but it is good I don’t go anymore 😭
Thanks again :D
Finnaly I found a vid which explains this properly and gives a recommended time to study in a day I started studying 2 months ago and I'm going to follow this video
yes! just a general guideline but if you follow it, should help you be in a good position
@@BingsAcademy yes thanks
I was given an opportunity. The floods delayed the exam days before it happened. I woke up and saw that I needed to study to get in. I studied very hard for the next 3 weeks non stop. I went from like 55% to 75%-80%. Do not worry, you will do fine.
The easiest to master or get really good at is you writing. Put in detail. Big words. Instead of purple use violet. Red, scarlet. So on. Use things that will blow them away, make them just go wow.
I hurried to the train station.
I rushed through the puddles splashing my coat. I glared over at a misty, cloud silhouette representing the train. I sprinted to the train station as if my life depended on it. Short sharp sentences.
@@Koby3797 great tips Koby regarding writing! exactly! i know many kids that lounged around and did not work when it got postponed.
Thanks. Keep up the good work. You were a big help on my way to get into a selective high school.
Hello John! I am going for my selective high school test in less than 2 weeks and have been studying at home to try and get more efficient with the questions! I would like to get into Caringbah high school- I usually get between 32-34 for thinking skills
27-30 for English
24-25 for writing
And 28-33 for maths
Do you think I need to up my mark or do you have any tips for what study I should do in the lead up
Thank you!
hey best of luck! It is a bit hard to tell because I don't know what your exam is like from a difficulty point of view. Instead of looking at the mark, try to see where you rank in comparison to everyone else who did the exam. That may be a better approach for you. Then whichever subject you are most weakest in, spend more time in these next two weeks on that!
I get around
24-28/30 in reading
23-28/35 in math but my scores are going up
30-32/40 in TS
16-17/20 in Writing
Is that enough for girraween or parramatta?
I started studying in December 2022 ( Yr. 5)
But I did a bit of studying in yr 1-4 too
the ranges for your reading and math is quite wide. It will depend on the test you are doing as I don't know if it is easier or harder than the other exams. Instead of looking at specific scores, try to spend more time on the areas you are weaker in.
@@BingsAcademy ok thanks!
I have Improved a bit and these are the percentages usually.
Top 10% in reading
Top 20% in maths
30% TS
20% Writing
Hi Bing, how much time would I need to study for the HAST test?
depends on where you are at right now. it is a very competitive exam.
I have a question: How is the TEA score decided? Is it school assignments and mock exams or the exams conducted by the government.
what do you mean by TEA?
@@BingsAcademy tertiary entrance aggregate
@@BingsAcademy the score that decides ATAR
@@yeetboisanimeeditz8763 it is a mixture of your school performance/rank and what you do in the HSC. that is why people want to join higher ranked schools here in Sydney as the school plays a big factor
@Bing's Academy Thanks for the information.
I have selective in 2 days and I only started to study 4 days ago 😬😟
oh my! who knows, maybe you are so naturally smart and don't need as long. goodluck!
I started like over 1 year ago is that a good time to start??.
Yea Sherlock
