  • In 2024, the NSW Selective High School exam saw its most competitive year yet, with a record number of 18,544 students going for a limited number of spots. The advantages of attending a selective high school are well-known: enhanced academic opportunities, a network of motivated peers, and a head start on university. As competition increases year on year, it becomes crucial for students and their families to understand how to improve their chances regarding the acceptance rate. The widely known acceptance rate is 22.9% for 2024 but this number is not actually as high when you factor in the equity students and the students who could not do the exam (with a genuine reason).
    In today’s video, John from Bing's Academy breaks down the latest statistics and trends affecting the NSW Selective High School acceptance rates. He explores the factors driving the increase in applicants and offers actionable strategies to help students boost their chances of securing a spot. Whether it's understanding the equity placement model or making strategic school choices, John provides valuable insights to navigate this landscape with strategies that can give you the edge.

    Hi Bing, I'm planning to apply for Sydney Boys High School and Sydney Technical High School. I'm in year 8 applying for year 9 I have a pretty decent report containing all A's with one B. Do you have any good studying resources to prepare for HAST and resources for SBHS.

      @BingsAcademy  16 днів тому +1

      goodluck! No resources that I can provide besides these youtube videos. We do have some study books that can be applicable for HAST. No one can really help you for SBHS as they have a custom exam (no other school does it). Good work on your report though.

    hi bing, im applying for entry into year 9 at girraween highschool with a report card of all b's and a's in only 2 subjects. I have a lot of extra curriculars however and also have a bunch of certificates in competitions. Is it possible for entry into girra I'm in penrith high school right now

    • @BingsAcademy
      @BingsAcademy  6 днів тому

      yes it is possible if you perform extremely well in your test. if you don't make it in this time, you have to do better for next year in both your reports + hast exam. There is still room for improvement. Next year is your best chance of making it in as they have an extra class in year 10 but definitely don't leave your preparation to the last minute... get a good tutor and work hard. good luck anyway!

      it will be tough for both schools honestly! have a look at what a report should look like in one of my other videos and you can compare yourself

    Hi Bing, Im planning to join penrith high school in year 10 and im currently in year 9 so if i have average reports and mostly C's, and i had 1 D this semester in maths so does this lower my chances of getting in.How can i start to prepare and what are some goud resources to use to prepare for HAST.

      @BingsAcademy  16 днів тому +1

      Hello! Your report is unfortunately not very good so be sure to improve as much as you can if you wanted year 11 entry. Although year 10 has an extra class for Penrith, your reports are quite weak. You will still have a chance if you somehow ace the exam though (although will be small)

    Hi Bing I am a year 9 Student at Parramatta High School applying for Girraween.I have Full A's and Two C's in PDHPE and Psychology, both of which are 65. The rest are all 85+. I have been doing some practice tests, averaging between 85-95. Do you think I have a chance to get selected, since Girraween open a new class in year 10

    • @BingsAcademy
      @BingsAcademy  6 днів тому

      it will be tough as your C's are going to be rough. I don't know how you will go with your other 2 reports (remember they require 3 reports) as well as extra curricular and academic achievements. There is always a chance so goodluck!

    would it be better if you got two average reports but then for your last one get a very good report or get 3 above average reports?

    • @BingsAcademy
      @BingsAcademy  20 днів тому

      is this for transferring into a selective high school? As for year 7 entry, no reports is required.

      @@suikarr hmmm good question then.
      I would say 3 above average reports to show you are consistently a high performer over a year and a half is more impressive. In saying that, getting a better report in the latest one (compared to the previous 2) shows you are improving over time (which is not bad either).
