Nice video. The only mistake you made is that you diluted the degreaser in water ( hot water, for the worst, led to decomposition of the degreaser!) . A degreaser is supposed to be used as it is. If you dilute then apply, you would have reduced its strength to cut grease more than a half. Am commenting as a detergents formulations chemist from Kenya. Thanks
Good info. I was wondering about that but I guess I was being too stingy on the amount.
@@Jay_Rule You are so welcome. You should also not heat the vinegar and baking soda mixture as well...it decomposes the mixture. I used it to clean kitchen hood for a hotel and earned good cash in 2017! Inbox me through george.mulahi@gmail.com i advise you on the recipe
That's awesome. I live in a 12 unit highrise. I'm on disability so an organization takes money off my rent. My problem is I got my full deposit back on last apt. Then I switched with same landlord. Nobody cleaned my kitchen (or did much else.) Being a 113 lb (Sry dont know conversion for Kenya, America doesnt like change, haha.) Anyway I'm super vf tiny with a bad heart & lungs. I Cannot get strength to scrub off 4 mm grease off underside of faucet, and the underside of my oven is a nightmare. There were a family of spiders living there off insects caught in grease around feet of stove/oven, and abt an entire persons head of hair stick within the grease. I tell you the truth, I told landlord, I left MY STOVE AND FAUCET nice - nice, and she left me that. I'm so disgusted I only use microwave. Kitchen it tiny anyway, only a 3ft food prep area. So I covered top with a dry erase board I had specifically cut as I had no where to sit coffee pot, etc. I got 1 outlet in entire kitchen! Ugh. Everyone thinks Americans are rich, but trust me, after getting chronically sick, I lol when I hear how rich we all are. I cant even afford a stand or kitchen table. Anyway, my landlord is forcing me to clean someone else's mess....any suggestions? I've gone thru so many products. I've even wiped cupboards with steel...(it works if they are smooth.) I wont be reimbursed for however many products I buy. So any suggestions for hair sticking to grease behind stove? Grease 4mm thick under faucet? There is grease everywhere. I like apt but this stove is attracting beetles that like hair and cotton, etc. So I guess I have to do it. I'd rather she remove it so I can save for a microwave cart but the ppl who help pay my rent in America INSIST you have a stove, screens with holes, carpet no one ever steam cleaned, etc. I always see all my neighbors throw away all their furniture and move. Now I know why. She never paints (only spot paints) or cleans carpets. So now I've had to draaaaaaaggg (literally) 1/2 of my craft supplies (cotton material, yarn, etc, to the dumpster. No one finds it weird, cuz they do too. Any suggestions for THAT THICK OF GREASE, for a woman who cannot scrub, (nor has any help) would be great. Thanks. :)
Baking soda is a good baked-on-grease cutter. When cleaning, it should not be mixed with vinegar, because vinegar is an acid and baking soda is a base. When combined, they neutralize each other, which renders them ineffective. The mixture produces water + carbon dioxide + a salt compound: NaHCO3 + HC2H3O2 → NaC2H3O2 + H2O + CO2. Best not to mix them until you want to neutralize the baking soda.
Baking soda is not a surfactant, so is not a grease ‘cutter’.
This. It's kind of a silly comparison.
yes, good info
i love knowing this cleaning info.I help clean some homes and this is one thing all forget to add to cleaning ..thank you for sharing this.rewatching this hood and filter of our stoves.
Thanks for watching. I can't believe this video did so well!
There are some videos that change your life and you wonder how did you miss these things. They have such an overwhelming impact on your life that fills you with gratitude. And then we have this video.
ok, thanks for watching
Now that's just plain cruel Anurag Sharma
There are some useful comments with decent thoughts and opinions or perhaps some constructive criticism and then there are comments left just to offer rude remarks by ungrateful dipshits trying to be clever. Trolling a five minute video without ill intent is uncalled for, there's plenty of content readily available if you're desperate to practice shitting on someone's work.
I love how he says teaspoon of baking soda and goes on to put like a cup! 😂
Thanks for watching please subscribe : )
🤣😂I noticed that as well!!
Lol me too ✋️ 🤣
Thank you! I used vinegar and baking soda on my even dirtier filters and they came out pretty darn clean
Try the dishwasher next time, it's much easier.
the comments on this video are very helpful to understand what to do
Yes, study them
Thanks for the vid. I'm going to try the vinegar and baking soda.
Make sure to soak it thoroughly and in boiling water but be careful
I find just using boiling hot water and washing detergent works well but interesting test I degreaser works well on thin oil and grease but it takes many goes when the grease or oil is thick, were you can use a paint scraper to remove the bulk and blast the rest with boiling hot water, using warm water won't lift it.
Good strategy
The difference could be just down to the different water temperatures ?? Also spraying the degreaser onto the water seems wrong, should spray it directly onto the filter and add water later. Baking soda and vinegar seemed to work well though.
Yes, I should've planned it out better.
Good video and nice sink
I sense some sarcasm lol
Thank you for ur video .Loved it. What is the name of that cream and where to buy it please. Thank you.
Thanks for watching but what cream are you referring to? If it's the degreaser then you can buy it at any hardware store or on Amazon.
I soak mine in a mix of TSP and hot water. No scrubbing really needed. 15 minutes each side. Then rinse.
I now use my dishwasher: ua-cam.com/video/Wwm9dobh6Pg/v-deo.html
Next time stick them in the dish washer with a dishwasher cleaner it's what I do and works like a charm.
Thanks. I actually tried and prefer that method. I also made a video so check it out
if you're using degreaser you don't dilute it, use full strength works great. I've used vinegar and water too both do a good job but vinegar and water doesn't have all the toxins that the degreasers do. don't see the point of using pots of boiling water especially if your using degreaser, not a good idea.
Patsy Chavez
Vinegar is not a surfactant. It cannot cut or dissolve grease. Ever see a bottle of oil and vinegar salad dressing? Two layers.
@@FrankGutowski-ls8jt Thats why people use it with baking soda. It creates a chemical reaction that eats away the grease.
Cray Way
Nonsense. The reaction produces sodium acetate, water, and carbon dioxide, none of which ‘eats away’ grease.
@@FrankGutowski-ls8jt I used it to clean my grease and it works great.
Thanks for the tips. I was just trying out a simple science experiment.
I have those exact same filters. All you have to do is place it in the bottom of the sink with the stopper in. sprinkle generously with baking soda and pour straight vinegar over it. It will fizz and come clean "instantly", no scrubbing. Don't use water to dilute.
I just put it in the dishwasher now once a month and it comes out clean enough
SODIUM HYDROXIDE works the best, by far.
(baking soda is just nothing compared to it)
Good tip 👌
lol Ray might want to call in a cleaning crew!
true
The vinegar and bacon soda hwin hands down.
Actually, using the dishwasher is the eastiest way which I found out later: ua-cam.com/video/Wwm9dobh6Pg/v-deo.html
Can you please do another one where both of the water temperatures are the same? I'm wondering if the extra heat might have helped the vinegar one?
Thanks for checking out my channel and watching my video. Please subscribe for more exciting videos. Do you have a video request?
@@Jay_Rule bro he littarally gave you a video request
They both looked the same there was no improvement
Hi, you can also put the filters in the dishwasher a few time :)
True! I've been doing that and made a separate video 🤝
Oven spray takes the trophy lol you boiled the soda combo and the degreaser was diluted in all that water so eeeeeeeh lol Oven spray, warm up the oven, turn it off and spray it . Let a few minutes go by and clean with hard sponge and rinse . winner lol
I just use the dishwasher now
The baking soda n vinegar looks like it did a good job
I'm kinda disappointed by the heavy duty degreaser because it's sole purpose is to remove grease.
Ya sometimes its good to use home cleaning remedies like for furniture polish i use coconut oil mixed with lemon juice then wipe with a micro fiber and it cleans better than the chemical stuff
true
Yes and prob better for the environment.
Easily
whats the brand of that noodles?
Filter broth ... yumz
I see no noodles lol
I use brake cleaner spray to clean them
What if moisture gets on that and then it drops into the food you are cooking? I found a better and easier method and that is to put it in the dish washer with heated dry.
If you'd have used Super Clean, Would have just had to soak it for about 15 minutes and rinse. Done!!
Hook me up with a sample and we'll see lol
Why do you need to put water why not just concentrated amount of both degreaser and vinegar/baking soda
To dilute it out because I wanted to save the degreaser for other uses
smutchers
Slept soundly through chemistry class.
if you're using degreaser you don't dilute it, use full strength works great. I've used vinegar and water too both do a good job but vinegar and water doesn't have all the toxins that the degreasers do.
agreed
A) Hot water by itself already devolves grease, giving the orange cleaner a disadvantage right there
B) You could have just put them in the dishwasher, saved a lot of money and had them thoroughly clean
That'll clog up the dishwasher n stink it up.
@@Ssheriff007 I agree. You should just get a replacement or scrub it up with degreaser.
I do use the dishwasher now
Why use chemicals on your pots/pans?
To clean the hard to get rid of stains
Let us Comppppppppppppairrrrr !!!!
yessir!
Does that imply trying to clean a greasy stovetop with baking soda and vinegar requires you to boil the stove in water too???
So for the people that commented, he clearly, said luke warm water for the pot used for degreaser.
If he said luke warm water, why did he demonstrate by boiling the water?
I boiled it and then let it cool down if I remember right.
I use the dishwasher now as it's much more convenient: ua-cam.com/video/Wwm9dobh6Pg/v-deo.html
Just soak it in hot water with dish soap and baking powder for 10 min, then spray it off with hot water! Then voilà like new!!!
Yes but now I just use the dishwasher: ua-cam.com/video/Wwm9dobh6Pg/v-deo.html
that was way more then a teaspoon you liked the fizz so u kept adding lmao
Uptowns Finest m
Remember your working with grease so instead of using warm water use hot water that helps the grease never had to scrub before just respray and repeat the first step
I wanted maximum potential
Try soaking them in turpentine instead.
Is that expensive?
@@Jay_Rule
Dunno. Its been years since I bought any. It used be real cheap, back in the day, used as a paint thinner and cleaning agent for oil paint on brushes, etc.
I just tried it today, on the top of a cupboard where grease from the nonworking oven vent has let it accumulate along with the dust. Worked instantly and easily.
@@bobgillis1137 Thanks for the tips. I've heard of the solution before but I've never actually seen it at the store or hear much people talk about it.
Looks like more in that kitchen needs a good clean than the oven
I agree lol
I Just wasted 5:15 mins. Of my life watching this vid
But it's a science experiment. There is no time wasted for learning.
hahahahahahaha
It's not a fair test because you used different temp water
Now I just use the dishwasher. Problem solved.
Is baking soda
Yes, I used baking soda. Did you have a question???
Just go to home depot and replace them. it is in expensive
How much though and not every one carries the exact model
Use Pepsi
factory said to wash in Dishwasher...
The easiest way
That one! 😆😂👍🏻
Which one?
you may want to clean your stove and sinks...ahahahah
Monika Perić
It obvious the family doesn't clean at all...pigssssss
True, I'm not going to lie.
babi you should use costic soda instead of vinger and sodium carbonate and you will see the the magic of the cleaning solution without boiling ! and withen 12 minute only
I just use my dishwasher now lol
OR... go to any hardware store and buy new ones for a few bucks.
Filters aren't cheap especially for the ones that fit my Microwave.
are you from Hong Kong? that's a Cantonese accent right?
I'm from Guangdong
Just spray bathroom cleaner
facts
Chop sticks?
yes, what about them lol
Ahhhh, it's toxic....... So that's the reason for the shades
Gotta protect the eyes lol
@@Jay_Rule The number one rule of cleaning is safety. This method includes boiling chemicals. That is dangerous. The vapors from the chemicals are not safe. Glasses are not goggles.
Bad microwave placement
It has an exhaust fan incorporated into it
Why bother? Neither baking soda, or vinegar, or sodium acetate, the product of their neutralization reaction is a surfactant.
ok
- 3 suggestions -
1- pretty sure by boiling the toxic degreaser those toxins were then being release into your lungs while breathing in the toxic air / vapors.
2- pretty sure you shouldn't be boiling stuff like this at all.
3- if you want to boil anything like this again, try using the side burner of an "outdoor" grill instead of your kitchen where it's releasing God knows what into the air your family will be breathing in.
Best of luck.
Lol, he used luke warm water in the degreaser pan and didn't have it turned on to heat. Listen to what he says in the beginning. I agree with everything you said, but it doesn't apply in this situation since he wasn't actually heating the degreaser. He placed the filter in luke warm water inside the pan.
@@rubiobrandi 4 years later and I stand corrected lol but I'm thinking he should just take this time waster down all together. It was far from helpful.
Yes, you're right. I simply put it in the dishwasher now. It's much easier.
I agree. I worked for a bbq house and we had to use oven cleaner daily and I stayed sick with bronchitis/ bronical pneumonia. I have COPD so I have to be careful of what cleaners to use. May have to hjre someone
As you advertise both pots with greasy filter, we can tell, you never turned on the other pot to boil, but, you did on the other,so,the way we see it, your trying to have your customers to choose that boiling filter to use, hhhh
I should've time the boiling effect better for the video but the effectiveness remains the same was my point
shades, really? 😳
That was my gimmick when I started YT lol
What are the instructions on the degreaser? Does it say to put the filter in a pan of water?
Too, the degreaser is TOXIC for you and the environment.
Jay you might want to check out other videos because you are working just to darn hard. There are easier ways.
I use the dishwasher now. Problem solved.
1 teaspoon = half the box of baking soda 😂
I should've measured but more won't hurt
All you need to do is put them in a ziploc bag put some ammonia in it for about a hour or 2 or even overnight lay it flat outside and flip it about every 1/2 hr or so ..and they will look brand new after there rinsed off.
Actually it's much easier putting the filters in the dishwasher and wash it on high with heated drying
@@Jay_Rule not everyone has a dishwasher.
Easy off oven cleaner 5 min completely clean
buy a new one!
Actually this is the best way: ua-cam.com/video/Wwm9dobh6Pg/v-deo.html
Guys just dont have a clue how its done or to demonstrate
ouch
😂
Thanks for watching
Not a great comparison video considering the solutions you used weren't used in the same way (one was heated, and the other completely dilluted) and I see that you did scrub them a little, but you didn't even rinse them off to show the finished result of both cleaning solutions. I was under the impression this video would show us a fair comparison between using the homemade cleaner versus a store bought degreaser, and I'm sorry but your video Failed to show that completely. I hate wasting my time watching someone's video that claims to be helpful to viewers, and address their needs based on their search terms and your video title, only to have watched the whole thing and come to the conclusion that you just like the attention, clearly. Ridiculous and not helpful at all.
Yes, I could've structured my video better. I later discovered it's easiest and most effective to use the dishwasher: ua-cam.com/video/Wwm9dobh6Pg/v-deo.html
+1 on what Miss Rubio said
buang masa!
This is terrible.
how so
Looks like a pigs house
lmao
This guy have 0 percent cleaning skills.
Ouch 😭
