I think the benefit of buying an Xbox will be the ecosystem, being able to buy a collectors edition and playing anywhere. Not like Sony where you are locked into the console, having to rebuy all your DLC and games just to play on PC.

I'm an Xbox fan, and I aint't got any problem with Microsoft's strategy. No one's taking away anything from me. I don't get the outrage going on with some folks, exclusivity is a thing from the past. As long as I can play my games on my prferred system, it's fine with me. If there's people playing the same games on their godlike PlayStation, who cares? Let them have fun as well. Doesn't change anything for my experience.

Going forward if Xbox put Gamepass on PlayStation they would never sell a console again. So without exclusivity the only reason to own an Xbox is Gamepass, which as good as it is, it’s not why I bought a Series X.
There are smaller reasons, though important. Auto install appropriate versions, no hassle. Game save sync. It just works. Basically all the qol stuff you lose going elsewhere. I've heard the troubles of game save issues on ps. Especially old Gen to new Gen bc play. I would add play anywhere, except not nearly enough tithes actually used it. Really that being forced gong forward between pc/xbox would be a nice selling point.

After Phil was exposed to have lied to us for the past few years I'd never buy another Microsoft console or actually purchase Microsoft games. When a good game comes out I grab a month of Gamepass for PC to play it. As someone who’s got over 504 players of Skyrim. And never finished oblivion I’m looking forward to the oblivion. I have oblivion with all the DLC. I even have the original walk-through guide. I’m looking forward to a remake with modern graphics that should be spectacular.

I only ever game on my Xbox. I love the environment and I sat in front of my TV on the couch and have fun. It doesn't bother me at all if other people can play it on other things. I don't know why it would. It's not a girlfriend. It's not like you're forced to share your girlfriend. Literally I can play on the device I want. You playing on something different doesn't affect me. At this point with my library and game pass I will always have an Xbox.

I still think Xbox should hold onto Halo, Gears and Fable as exclusives. Forza Horizon makes sense on PS5. It would be nice to have some clear messaging. But buying a game once and being able to play it on multiple devices is a positive. I think when the next gen Xbox is released in 2026, 'this is an Xbox' will make more sense. Especially if Steam is included and companies like Asus have Xbox OS on their devices. Asus in particular make a gaming centric phone. So that seems a natural fit for Xbox OS.

Nintendo and Sony have a deep rooted consumer base in Asia with games that appear there only in their native language. Xbox hasn't been able to make a lot of ground in that region. The game industry is changing, we'll likely see less exclusives due to higher development costs and development time. And if the cost of games increases, less people will buy the games ($70 USD is almost $100 CDN) and not everyone who owns a console will buy your game. They'll need a wider audience.
Oblivion is the easiest Bethesda game to 100 percent, there is only one missable achievement, you just gotta save before you become the duke , reload and do both versions and you can 100 percent it in one go.
That's not pathetic, that's Xbox seeing that Playstation doesn't have as many first party titles in the pipeline as they do, so why not capitalize on that and make money in the Playstation ecosystem while their dev are hopefully making a successful game that will sell at a profit and not be a financial loss. I mean it's obvious so many Playstation players want Xbox games on their console more than they want their own first party games. It makes sense to give them something and make money at the same time. Console aren't the end all be all for gaming, remember we used to have arcades now look how that turned out...

Xbox is focused to become the Netflix of gaming with it's cloud service. That way you can play games on every device as long as you have a internet connection. I think that Xbox hardware will be phased out in 1-2 generations and it will all be replaced with Xbox Game Pass / Cloud.. everything will be an "Xbox" if it support their Game Pass software. Phasing out exclusivity is just to get the big buck.. Xbox use Game Pass as a carrot for their hardware / PC to play it on day one without buying the game, just buy a subscription. Everything is Game Pass now. Xbox is Game pass. The hardware is getting more and more redundant for Xbox.
If they put Gears of WAR on PlayStation MS is cooked, same goes for Halo and Fable. Those should always be Xbox only games. I'm not a fanboy but PlayStation users are and I wouldn't want their toxicity in certain lobbies

In my opinion I kind of don't mind certain games being announced for PlayStation but only after a year that it's been out for Xbox and PC. You don't announce a good exclusive and then immediately talk about the PlayStation version coming as well. After a year nobody would really care that much that it's going to another platform anyway because most people would have got it on game pass or outright purchased it
@colteastwood easily, far better quests and story. You can also craft your own spells and it's more of a true RPG. Skyrim is definitely smoother but much watered down.

Xbox is dead as a console the moment Halo or Gears becomes available on PS. There is going to be an exodus to PS for console familiarity, or to PC - there's absolutely no sense in buying Xbox anymore if you can just play the games on another platform. But there are rumors about Steam making another Steam console, so those who play Xbox can just migrate there to get access to Steam's massive library of games.

I beat Indy and got burnt out on Stalker 2 after 115 hours. That game is way too long. Now i'm waiting on Sniper Elite next month and Avowed in Feb.

I think when the next gen Xbox is released in 2026, 'this is an Xbox' will make more sense. Especially if Steam is included and companies like Asus have Xbox OS on their devices. Asus in particular make a gaming centric phone. So that seems a natural fit for Xbox OS.

Nintendo and Sony have a deep rooted consumer base in Asia with games that appear there only in their native language. Xbox hasn't been able to make a lot of ground in that region.
The game industry is changing, we'll likely see less exclusives due to higher development costs and development time. And if the cost of games increases, less people will buy the games ($70 USD is almost $100 CDN) and not everyone who owns a console will buy your game. They'll need a wider audience.

Oblivion is the easiest Bethesda game to 100 percent, there is only one missable achievement, you just gotta save before you become the duke , reload and do both versions and you can 100 percent it in one go.

That's not pathetic, that's Xbox seeing that Playstation doesn't have as many first party titles in the pipeline as they do, so why not capitalize on that and make money in the Playstation ecosystem while their dev are hopefully making a successful game that will sell at a profit and not be a financial loss. I mean it's obvious so many Playstation players want Xbox games on their console more than they want their own first party games. It makes sense to give them something and make money at the same time. Console aren't the end all be all for gaming, remember we used to have arcades now look how that turned out...

But those of us listening to what has been said by Phil himself for at least 6 years have known what was coming and if we were not onboard with it had already left. I use to game on my Xbox a lot but now that I bought a pc I see what they are doing and it's awesome steam has its own identity epic store kinda has its own thing but Xbox game pass is a major factor in the store front making a lot of noise in the pc community standing out from the rest
Xbox is focused to become the Netflix of gaming with it's cloud service. That way you can play games on every device as long as you have a internet connection. I think that Xbox hardware will be phased out in 1-2 generations and it will all be replaced with Xbox Game Pass / Cloud.. everything will be an "Xbox" if it support their Game Pass software.
Phasing out exclusivity is just to get the big buck.. Xbox use Game Pass as a carrot for their hardware / PC to play it on day one without buying the game, just buy a subscription.
Everything is Game Pass now. Xbox is Game pass. The hardware is getting more and more redundant for Xbox.

In my opinion I kind of don't mind certain games being announced for PlayStation but only after a year that it's been out for Xbox and PC. You don't announce a good exclusive and then immediately talk about the PlayStation version coming as well. After a year nobody would really care that much that it's going to another platform anyway because most people would have got it on game pass or outright purchased it

@colteastwood easily, far better quests and story. You can also craft your own spells and it's more of a true RPG. Skyrim is definitely smoother but much watered down.
Honestly Xbox already make Microsoft more money than windows. So them putting games on PS is just greed. PS built their platform on exclusives, period. Xbox had the opportunity, LOST! Phil Spencer probably had his hands tied. Future is not so bright.

Xbox is dead as a console the moment Halo or Gears becomes available on PS.
There is going to be an exodus to PS for console familiarity, or to PC - there's absolutely no sense in buying Xbox anymore if you can just play the games on another platform.
But there are rumors about Steam making another Steam console, so those who play Xbox can just migrate there to get access to Steam's massive library of games.

Halo was a flagship for Xbox, Now it's Super call of duty vs oddities of the universe, that is sometimes aliens. Sony has drained every dollar from Kojima studios brand . Bethesda, Blizzard, E.A.,wargaming and others too. These particular CEOs are brutal in their approach to making games fit into capitalism. Blizzard in particular has had multiple S.A. cases, bullying office and home, assault and battery charges.
