The only reason I wouldn't is if there is no physical disc drive for my older games, but I don't see them getting rid of discs at least this next gen because of the amount of xbox games out there we can play on disc.
Dude they already do. It's called a gaming PC. All xbox games Playstation Games Steam Epic Ubisoft Connect EA Name it. Xbox can't even deliver this now but a PC can. Just go build one.
2K 120fps is easy to do with most any up to date gaming PC. There are very few AAA games running at 4K 120fps natively on anything other the the highest end gaming PCs. I play "4K" 120fps with my 4070ti but that's with DLSS turned on. Most games are only gonna run around 60-70fps at native 4K.
Well I have saying for years that this was the obvious direction. Xbox is gonna be like steam machines. Just been the logical direction for years. Now the idea of them completely becoming a valve partner. This will be awesome
You do remember that the first generation of Steam Machines was an abject failure and didn't last very long. Xbox going this way wasn't always a given and with the failure of Steam Machines first gen may have gave them pause to take on this type of mentality earlier. Only with the success of the Steam Deck and Nintendo switch did they probably take a second look. Also keep in mind though as of right now, CES is coming there is only one Steam Deck, they didn't take the every manufacturer approach that they took with Steam Machines. Microsoft might be wise to heed that failure unless they very clearly message that, messaging is a track record they don't have strong results in.
@@dannypassion That’s why consoles like the Xbox and PS5 are so much easier to optimise for and pc is much more difficult with varying hardware and why devs like Rockstar develop for consoles first and foremost and pc waits 2 years for a port
But the Consoles prices are subsidized. I know PC is better value for money in the long run but not every body can wait couple of more months to save up money for a PC. Right now, you can build a PS5 equivalent PC for 650$ but few years ago, you absolutely can't.
@@shayanali8771 if this console is fully open as some expect I think itll actually be sold for profit and not subsidized at all.. less they use the extra funds from sony and Nintendo to keep it cheaper.
The issue is that my Mid range PC I built 4 years ago is very out of date for modern games and to upgrade it would be at least $500+ to run games at the level an Xbox Series X or Ps5 would and they came out 4 years ago. Thats nearly $1300 for a PC over all when I bought a Xbox series X for $500 and the series x runs games just as well.
@@poseiidon2029 Yes but for that reason, PC/console hybrids have failed in the past. Anyone who would want a gaming pc can build one for cheaper, and the benefits of console hardware standardization go out the window if you allow PC modularity
I'd argue that Nintendo was ahead of the curve by nearly a decade. They foresaw that dedicated high powered consoles in a close ecosystem wasn't a winning strategy so they backed out and did their own thing. MS sees the same future and are taking a different approach. Sony is holding on for dear life and IMO its going to hurt them the longer they stay stuck in the mud.
@jubei2011 Nintendo quit. But it worked out for them. They made the most powerful console at the time (Gamecube) and it flopped. Don't forget that part 😂.
Correct and there's simply no need for any useless middle operator increasing the cost, when there's other better hardware and store options already available.
i have solution. every 3 mintues a new AD appears ; even in game. but you sell the xbox for 199 due to all the ads and money they're going to make for just watching those ads. you want the xbox now?
Prebuilt PCs are becoming a bigger industry. I just bought one from a father and son who partnered with a local PC store that they make the PC builds on their selves. For a prebuilt with a 4060 in it and 32 Gb of RAM is great for $900.
This gen I moved primarily from console to PC so my purchases happened more on steam than Xbox, but I still kept my series x for my old games. If next gen they manage to have a system with backwards compatibility and somehow get access to stores like Steam then I'll gladly drop the money without hesitation.
Consoles generally are loss leaders. Their appeal is affordability. Why would an OEM manufacturer want anything to do with that? I don't see a Microsoft Gaming box appealing to many people at $1,000 especially when Microsoft is putting their titles everywhere. OEM manufacturers will see the same thing. Premium and console don't and won't intersect in the minds of consumers.
@@mckenleymason1212well there not s sold rely well it was the X that struggled even though it's the better console I got x but 1000s for a console that cant guarantee me playing squad 🤔
Negative. A console's number one appeal is that it fits into the living room more easily than a PC. You can buy PCs that are the equivalent to a console budget-wise, it's the integration into the entertainment unit that gives the console the advantage. Sitting on the couch.
@@jsullivan2112 I'm sure that when parents go to the store shopping for little Timmy, the first thing they're thinking about is "the integration into the entertainment unit." Sure they are, in those exact words even.
If Microsoft launches a "1 Box Solution" where people can spend $1000+ on a console that's also a full PC running Windows that doesn't require building, and can be upgraded... it will disrupt the entire entry level to mid tier gaming PC market, and they would dominate. If 1st & 3rd party part vendors allowed people to buy "Barebones Kits" like NUC, we could load them up with tons of RAM / NVMe. That would be even more awesome.
The whole point is Phil wants XBOX to be like phones. He wants a different new SKU of XBOX every year like phones. There 3rd party partners shall have access to make their own XBOXES.
@@ChickenMcThicckenactually I’d appreciate it and possibly others too. If you do anything to the Xbox consoles the warranty is voided. With PS you can at least upgrade the hard drive. Xbox doesn’t even allow for that simple upgrade. Consoles were created for those who don’t have the knowledge to build their own gaming pc.
@@needum9212 took me finding the right game that I enjoyed playing to get the same vibe. I've grown out of COD and those type games. Been more single player story games and I love that I can adjust everything. Way more flexibility on graphics and what I want from it.
@@sgtoz if the games on console I just prefer it on there so I don't have to adjust everything haha. i mostly play all kinds of games but if its just on PC then obviously I play on PC.
I agree. At this point, there's really no need to get an Xbox or PS5; you can play both on PC. I bought my son his first PC Rig, and now he's playing Horizon, Spiderman, God of War, and Gears of War on PC.
I love the idea the one thing that scares me more than anything is the idea that none of these other retailers would produce disk compatible consoles. As a collector of games that has been the hardest thing about staying with xbox is the push towards only digital. I will be a 100% on board if they continue digital media and just make the consoles $50 more for a disc version because I know I am not the only person who loves collecting physical games. The collecting for me makes the hobby that much more fun.
The main reason I stuck with xbox this generation is the fact majority of my friends have them and the fact I can play original xbox games, xbox 360 games, and xbox one/series x games. If Playstation made the Ps5 %100 backwards compatible I would own one right now.
Us old heads is a dying breed these new young kids don't care about physical media they don't even really care about the 3 brands They just wanna play there games and stream it live ..they really can't play unless there are other people watching them play on a twitch site or something similar
At this point, them doing a very user friendly, highly creative and cool PC/console hybrid is the only thing that will get me to buy Xbox hardware next gen. I'm not a big PC gamer but I got a gaming PC and will just start to play Xbox there more. Right now, I don't see much a of a future for Xbox hardware as things stand but if they can change the game with something like this, that plays all PC games but has a console interface and features, I'll very likely be in.
@antoniohill4451 For a lot of us, we dont have high interest because all of their games are available on other platforms. I would just get a PS6 and PC and play there. I know Xbox doesn't care about that and that is fine. Just seems a waste to invest in the Xbox ecosystem when their console will be more and more insignificant. I'll shift over my main playing time and third party purchases elsewhere
@Calinks do you understand what you just said? that You will get a ps6. but you their games will be on pc too like they are now. But you will say noooo , I will play my xbox games on pc when you are not a pc fan but still get a ps6 when all of ps games are on pc. Whoa that's crazy why not say you would just play pc next gen because pc has all of sony and Microsoft games.
@@Calinks xbox are tripling the money sony is making from gaming. More money equal a better future for xbox and the amount they can invest into games. So go ahead and get gamepass on your pc while still buying other games owned by Microsoft on Playstation So xbox ecosystem will be even better.
@@antoniohill4451 I hear you but I'll explain my reasoning, know that I am an Xbox fan from the OG Xbox launch so this isn't some fanboy talk. 1. I prefer to play on console. I am trying to open myself up more to PC, I got a decent gaming PC and will upgrade it in the future but yea, I still like console more. 2. I always get a PlayStation and Xbox. I don't care a whole lot for Nintendo games so sometimes I skip Nintendo consoles. 3. PlayStation is still playing the exclusive game. Yes they are putting their games on PC but generally they wait 6 months to a year. That is enough of a gap where I would just prefer to play those games earlier on console. 4. PlayStation gets a bevy of third patty exclusives. Some times these games remain exclusive to PlayStation console and aren't on PC or again, come far later. I still see a lot of value in owning a PlayStation, largely because of their exclusive practices. I also can see more third part games skipping the Xbox as its audience shrinks because more gamers would see it as redundant. We will almost certainly get all or the majority of Xbox games on PlayStation and some of these are even launching day and date. Microsoft wants to get PlayStation and PC gamers to buy their games on those platforms, so they aren't worried if I don't get them on Xbox either. I will go that route unless Xbox gives me a more compelling reason to get their hardware than they appear to be offering now. (Mostly access to much of my 23 year game library and game pass on console). I will just keep my Series X and play my old stuff there and roll with PS6 and PC.
Nah. Those of us who are seeing the same thing happening that already happened with Android smartphones know better. :) Microsoft/XBox will end up like Sega.
Just bring back server lobby lists like the old days alobg with player hosted servers. Keep anti cheat as optional for player made servers while only being mandatory on the ranked official servers. Player freedom is more important than completely guaranteeing a lack of cheaters. Stuff like cheater only or preferred servers may become a thing and develop its own completely different evolving meta based on exploits in the game.
So what are people talking about when they are constantly saying Xbox is dead ? It seems like they are seriously branching out. Sony is doing the same thing, but not to the same extent that Microsoft is doing with the Xbox brand. But this puts Xbox ahead of the curve it seems. I want to see games continue to push graphics, physics, animation, shadows and lighting further and further. Well these games aren't cheap to make with all these technologies. Time to branch out to more markets if we as gamers want to continue to get these AAA titles.
Console gamers don't want or will buy anything they have to upgrade they want a box that plugs into a TV and sit on a couch all this doing is make Console players only support Nintendo or sony
Nah man, we're tired of AAA. We just want good games, regardless of the studio or the budget. I think less and less people care about the advancements in graphics, as we've seen enough in bad games to see that it doesn't matter. Also, AAA stuff always gets hyped up though the roof just to come out broken and disappointing. And Xbox is dead because they published ONE (1!) good game in four years. Sony is branching out with awesome games, and Xbox has nothing to show for. They're a 3rd party game publisher at this point, and I hope it stays that way and they just silently kill the HW branch, we had enough.
I came away from PC due to the cost of always upgrading ... play station first ... then xbox one because of the back compatability ... at £1000 ... it looks like I might go back to PC ...
@@jbmatey3072 The funny thing is that even PC isn't great with backwards compatibility. A lot of pre-2011 games don't scale their UI's, and I play on a 4k tv. It's kinda sad, as I can't play some of the classics without em looking like absolute shit. And yeah, not just the 1000€ consoles, but the 80€ games, DUDE! They're insane atm
You can already do basically everything you described in this video with any gaming PC that's on the market. My gaming PC is connected directly to my 55in TV in living room. I play all my games from my recliner with an Xbox controller, though you can use any controller. When I turn on my PC it boots directly into Steam big picture mode. I can do everything with my controller just like any console. The only time I need to switch over to Windows is if I wanna play a Gamepass game or an Epic Store game. People act like PCs are this hard to manage device that you have to fiddle with all the time. Nothing could be further from the truth. PC gaming is no more difficult than console gaming. You just get to play everything. With the highest settings your rig is capable of.
You'd surprised how non tech-savvy people still are these days. Heck, even I had to google how to automatically log in to Windows 11 in order to directly boot into Steam Big Picture Mode. Also, people don't know shit about PC specs. A pre-built Xbox PC/console hybrid open for other stores/launchers that can be installed directly on the console like an app on your iPhone would be a real win for consumers, I just don't see how it will be a win for Microsoft or hardware manufacturers.
PC gaming actually is quite a bit more complicated than console gaming, you're just used to it to the point you don't see it anymore. With consoles you just pop the game in or download it, wait for the updates and voila. With PC you gotta fiddle with the settings, figure out how to connect two controllers to the Windows system so it doesn't treat it like one controller (trust me, more complicated than it sounds - for no reason at all)... There are Windows updates that unexpectedly break your game, game patches, drivers... It's more complicated. That being said, I'm writing this from a sofa on my gaming PC hooked to a 55" tv. :D I still game both on consoles (PS5, Switch), sold my Series X and I recently came back to PC gaming. Apart from building/buying a rig (I actually bought an Alienware pre-built and upgraded it - simpler that Reddit and reviews are suggesting) and upgrading it, it's much cheaper. No subscriptions for online play (120-150/y), you can share a Steam library with a family member, constant great discounts on Steam, G2A, Cdkeys and Instant Gaming... Yeah, it's a no brainer. It is a bit more complicated for the uninitiated, and your average person just wants to pop the game in after a long day and play some games. So consoles still have their space, but it's just that Xbox isn't a part of the conversation anymore.
It's not like you can get an upgrade every 2-3 years on a contract where you're paying your phone a month is part of your bill. Its not even the same scenario at all. A phone is more of a need than a want.
I've been waiting for a universal console since the '80s when they first started talking about it, however it's really the PC The PC is the great unifier, Xbox/PC for me. An Xbox console that can run steam and epic and God games I will be in heaven!
Greed is killing the industry i loved. Am i the only one that thinks that new & change is not always good? 🙄 This hurts console ppl who don't give a damn about playing everywhere, PC & Mobile games, keep those things separate!
My #1 concern would be how the games scale. Currently it's not good... Devs would have to build in all the PC-style sliders in the options to even make it feasible on paper.
not necessarily. MS would need to set, say 3 hard-specc'd targets, and the devs would optimize graphical profiles to match the set hardware at those 3 spec levels. It's really no different than what consoles are currently doing with base model and X / Pro model hardware. **edit** should clarify I'm specifically referring to games developed for "xbox machines", games launched from steam would simply operate as normal PC games and you'd have to adjust your settings based on the "xbox machine" hardware level you bought.
That's a whole different topic. Half the games now are made to only play online. Plus how is anyone supposed to know the new Xbox hasn't even been made yet
@Liquid12322 if it's part xbox and downloaded on profile they should still strive for it. That's what I'm saying. If it's wifi/internet hookup only I'm automatically out.
So, history repeats itself. Back in the 80ies console manufacturers also tried to make their consoles more PC like by adding peripherals like keyboards, etc. It flopped because people then bought a real computer instead. And the winner was…Nintendo.
One of the biggest mistakes that Xbox could make is developing a PC/Xbox hybrid. I’m not saying it can’t work but you have to tread lightly since being ahead of your time can become a real problem. Since the start, Xbox has been their own greatest enemy but focusing too much on the competition, internal leaks, lack of frequent great first party titles, and not paying attention to what gamers want. Everyone is complaining how consoles are dying (which they haven’t) and yet, few discuss the reality of how inflation and the lack of first party titles affects console sales. Not to mention, due to people trying to stretch their money, Xbox would be a lot more successful copying the Nintendo model vs pivoting to accommodate Steam users. Once consoles hit a particular pricing threshold, it will just make sense to purchase a PC. Keep it simple, keep it at a lower cost with a mobile hybrid device and finally focus on releasing amazing titles. This will solve most of Microsoft’s problems.
I know, but the nintendo model is that they have the best, most recognizable, longest running, 1st party lineup in gaming history. 😊😊 Tough act to follow.
You are wrong Xbox makes everything easier when it comes to mods files and everything that has to do with downloading a game while on pc you have to do everything your self
I wish people would stop saying that Microsoft/XBox are ahead of their time. They're not, and their senior "leadership" are simply copying models from the smartphone market that are at least 10 years old now. And guess what? They failed there too.
Interesting. I would definitely like to have an xbox that includes steam and others. But they need to still provide an XBox at an affordable price for those of us who are a little poorer than the rest, but still love gaming.
i mean if it is a PC, its a PC, PCs can play game, they can call it a console all they want but unless it is limited compared to PCs than it isn't a console, and if it is a limited use PC than why not just get a PC?
It’s always form factor and ease of use. I’ve been a PC gamer all my life. When PC gamers say optimizing games and dealing with the technical side of things isn’t that bad, they aren’t comparing that to the fact that consoles have about 0 technical side. No pop up launchers, no graphics settings to tweak, no drivers to deal with, less diagnosing hardware failures. Any new games on my HDD load like crap because now they’re optimized for SSDs. Consoles don’t even give you the option to use HDDs for games anymore so you don’t have to worry about where your games are installed to make sure they run well. The little things add up and while tinkering with tech is fun to some of us, it isn’t fun for many people who just want to play games.
Just upgraded my work PC to 4070 Super and sold my Series X bought on launch night. Waited for 6hrs and froze my ass off to get that console, just to be pretty disappointed over the years. My combo now is a base PS5, my 4070 Super rig, and a Switch. I hope Steam Machine 2 happens, because someone needs to keep Sony in check. Had money put on the side for PS5Pro, but when they came out with the price it was a huge hell nah, and I upgraded my rig for 215€ and my brother's rig for 200€, which is still less than half of what Ps5Pro costs in Europe (960€ with the disc and the stand, although the disc units have been sold out and the scalpers are asking for 200+). I've been a fan of Xbox since 2006., but it's pretty much game over for me with it, since they have absolutely no idea what they're doing. Changing business strategies all the time, schizo pivoting all over the place, they continually destroyed the brand and now it's in the ground. I hope Steam Machine 2 turns out great, since Xbox is all but dead. Also, my savings are immense since switching to Steam. Games are cheaper, online services are free, and you can share your Steam library with a family member. I saved about 400€ yearly just with that, minimum. Yeah, buh-bye XBox. although I must say I'm heartbroken a bit because I had really high hopes for this gen.
When I game on PC using controller I use Steam’s Big Picture mode. Console like experience with all the graphical power of PC outputting to on a 65” OLED. Breathtaking! Was excited for Xbox for allowing purchases to be used on Console and PC, but once I got a Steam Deck and could not play my Xbox PC purchases on it natively, I stopped buying Xbox games. I personally don’t trust Microsoft or Sony with my digital library. If I am going to gamble on which corporation to trust with my library I am betting on Valve.
I had both consoles since release i sold my xbox because and went to pc because xbox couldnt deliver on there promises. Most powerful console my ass enjoy playing avowed in 30fps
As a computer science major I shudder at the thought a PC Xbox Hybrid locked to Microsoft operating systems. Un-ironically that would become a laughing stock in the computer world. Genuinely been happy seeing more people hop onto Linux over Windows for their gaming experiences in the last few years. Seems like people are finally starting to pick up on how shady Microsofts practices are and how shitty their OS is
All I know is I’ve been on PC this generation and it needs to be focused on that in the next generation or as soon as possible there’s a model to where on PC, I can play a game that isn’t natively ported to PC that is apart of the Xbox app or whatever have you. That to me feels like a really good idea for the universal UI. It’s not only console players that can access PC like features but someone like me can access the MLBs and the NHLs delivered to me as a console port on PC.
This reminds me a little of the way Trip Hawkins sold the 3DO back in the mid-1990s; multiple companies built various iterations of it, but they all played the same games. It failed, of course, but it wasn’t established the way Xbox is.
Sometimes, too many options are a bad thing. A console is supposed to be a easy experience. Purchase, plug &play. Now you'll have to research which version runs best at which price , which are having issues. How often does that manufacturer do updates. So I'm not a huge fan of this idea.
Picture this: A modular PC/Xbox handheld with dual boot OS. - An 8/9 inch 1440p oled tablet with detachable controlers, something like the Nintendo Switch, but with both Windows and the XBox Os inside. When you want to play with your xbox games and have an optimized experience you turn on the XBox OS, when you want to do productivity stuff or play with your steam or playstation games you turn on Windows (maybe a third OS for Playstation?). Price: around 500$ But then... - Then you DOCK the handheld into a GPU module that give you more graphic power and allow you to play or work on a larger monitor. Price: around 500$ as well - You have accesibility and portability with the handheld at a low price and raw power with the gpu module if you want to pay a premium price. - The modular design allow you to upgrade or repair the handheld module or the GPU module with newer versions. - The dual boot os allow you to have everything you need in ONE machine, no more need to have a console to play and a pc to work. Playstation could do the same as well with its Playstation OS and Windows if it's possible for legal reason.
A great idea, but unless the parts are competitively priced, that box is gonna be a no go area for most parents who are more than aware of the trap of printer cartridges etc.
They are also bringing World of Warcraft to Xbox Game Pass after The Last Titan expansion. Bringing the biggest MMO in the world to game pass will be Huge.
So why would I want this over a real pc or the valve route? What incentive other than my digital library would I have to keep me in the xbox ecosystem. I don't care for play anywhere. And I don't care about cloud gaming.
You’re hitting on the core of the problem for Microsoft here. Steam is geared up to offer all the flexibility described. A console like interface, a handheld device, a library that follows you everywhere. Third party bespoke hardware running Steam os. Valve seems poised to offer exactly this solution within months, while Xbox certainly is still years away
Take my money I believe the 3rd party brands will just have an Xbox app that allows streaming. The actual Microsoft/Xbox console will be the best way to play.
The key is making the directX translation/emulation or the play anywhere layer super good so all your backwards compatible and every xbox game works seamlessly.
Good Luck! Microsoft is confused with what to do with Xbox. They killed off the meaning of console, game exclusivity and trying to hype up what's next. One thing they are good at is Hyping things up and Xbox youtubers are good at that too. I switched from Xbox to Sony, PlayStation. They believe in console, despite some of their games going to PC, they believe in power and awesome games.
As someone who made a frontend before all i can say is if true they might have issues with aspects ratio because of different tv sizes and the only way i think they can fix this is if they recreate textures of ui for different ratios which is gonna double space that is taken up
An open console that boots into an Xbox OS and the option to boot into Windows or even Steam OS would be a major selling point for Console gamers, so long it's plug and play at the baseline. With Steam OS and how easy Steam Deck runs, this is no brainer. I would probably buy one just to stick it under my TV to compliment my Gaming Rig. For Console gamers, the one thing these 3rd party Consoles need to offer though is something more than Xbox OS or even Gamepass. They need to offer integration with the PC ecosystem as options, ability to upgrade if one chooses for more power over time or have offer more tiers for performance etc , that's the pitch. Otherwise, the counter argument would be , if you're a console gamer "just get a Playstation" since MS is going 3rd party with their studios.
There's a reason why Nintendo's consoles sell a lot more than Playstation or Xbox: they are built to be affordable gaming machines based on proprietary hardware and software, which means limited specs, but lower price and creative solutions. That has never been the "game" played by Sony or Microsoft, both looking for the top specs and most technically demanding games. In that area, with consoles increasingly - and necessarily - looking like PCs, both in specs and price, focusing only in the "box" format will be increasingly limiting for companies. Sony may lead in the "high end" console space for as much as it wants, but that is the "old game", since the money is where people buy the software - and you need to offer that software to as many people as possible. And the biggest market is, by far, on PC. Microsoft does have a natural lead in software (since it makes windows) and bridging the gap between console and PC is much more attainable for Xbox than it is for Playstation. Licensing hardware is something Microsoft has always done, and even Sony has a good line of windows laptops (the "Vaio"s). In that sense, a future in which Sony manufactures a Microsoft-licensed Xbox is NOT an absurdity.
Lil bro, Nintendo is not cheap at all it comparing by price to performance. The only reason Nintendo achieves good because it's marketed for kids and the adults that but it are usually either boomers or people with no game experience or retro lovers.
@colteastwood Colt, how would this affect accessories like the Elite controller? Would we still be able button/key map on 3rd party hardware with this vision?
They better not be having third party people making their console. That will be the death of xbox due to the insane prices they would charge for it. Microsoft was selling it at a loss in price.
Exactly, software subsidies the hardware cost. So if you’re a third party and thus need to cover the cost of the hardware plus make a profit, where is that profit coming from? Will XBox be sharing revenue with these vendors?
There will likely still be a subsidized Xbox from Microsoft with an entry level spec. The 3rd party hardware will be higher spec for higher graphics. This is exactly what meta is doing with quest moving forward. Probably also see an Xbox handheld from 3rd party as well
@@Idgafmf007 certainly I agree regarding MS still producing a box. With the third party boxes we’d likely be getting into both PC money - and the upgrade cycle that comes with the PC approach. And if all XBox games are on PC, the market is likely to be pretty small for this niche product.
That's why Phil Spencer sayed games exclusivity won't sell more consoles and the main reason many Xbox games are going to other platforms, their preparing to make a bigger jump than PlayStation and Nintendo, which both have a very old and traditional selling model, this could be a huge killer punch for them. Xbox it's aiming to be massive.
I've always had this exact idea of where Xbox might needs to go like a hybrid Console/PC that runs Windows OS and supports both Keyboard/Mouse/Controller for a competitive price point instead of investing more than a $1000 gaming PC. Make it at least 5-6yr life cycle and make a substantial upgrade for next gen, if this happens it's going to disrupt the market and I do think Microsoft is already aware of this idea.
I'll pass At 48 I'm old school This only means thing will get more expensive Most games have been so bad lately I don't even play anymore, I'd rather play my guitar
Xbox with Steam, AI, MODS, forward and Back compat, gamepass, and a handheld is literally a dream come true. So glad Bill Gates is a geek first and businessman second.
Make is scalable like on PC. You can even make it easy have presets low medium high and allow the user to pick one. It’s not that difficult. Like he said if they want to make a pc it has to behave like a pc
@@daveys_gaming_corner even if they are essentially PC's. Doesn't mean devs will be happy to make games for them. Look at Android mobile devices. You have literally hundreds of OEM manufacturers with a range of app stores. But you'll only find all apps on a small number of app stores.
@@daveys_gaming_corner they can make it as scalable as possible. But there are too many variables missing at the moment. As consoles are essentially off the shelf PCs now but we don't see every game ported. So how do they plan to sort that issue. What OS will it run. As if Microsoft thinks because it has Steam, Epic & other stores that devs will support the platform. I think they are in for a shock. Plus if these devices all have different specs. How will Microsoft make sure each device gets fully supported & optimized for. Even Google couldn't solve that issue with Android.
The day Microsoft chooses to give us a functional desktop OS on the console, that's the day I will buy consoles moving forward. It looks like maybe Valve will be first with SteamOS with a desktop experience.
5:34 as a pc player I've had this for years now and it's the best of all worlds. 100% the only way forward for a serious gamer is a desktop PC. Gaming laptops suck ass. I have a current gen 4070. The experience is okay but it's nothing on a desktop and while consoles are okay I hate they decide when you upgrade and if its defective you're basically fucked like the red ring of death and the power delivery failures we are seeing on the series x now. There isn't much you can't do on a PC. I would love it if Xbox gave their market access to Steam. Third party would be taking a huge risk in the hope that people would buy them. I just don't see it happening. You'd be insane to take a loss on a console (which you would have to do as no one would pay the premium price (no ones hands were up) unless you could guarantee some revenue from the sale of games or something. The more I think about third party xboxs they just seem stupid. No manufacturer would want to make them.
Man I just need handhelds to get more powerful. My dream gaming machine is a Steam Deck with tons of power/battery and the ability to play anti-cheat games like COD. Right now I love playing on my ROG Ally X but I still feel like it needs more power
This all sounds good to me. As long as we keep that “plug and play” console experience. Having dipped my toes in PC gaming with my Legion Go, I’m personally not very fond of the tweaking sometimes necessary to get optimal performance.
I'm just going to stick to my desktop PC that's already conveniently setup to my TV and when I wanna game on the go I'll just use my SteamDeck and that's enough for my gaming needs. I don't care about whatever Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony does. I don't want another gaming hardware.
It would be cool if the next gen consoles came out with an eGPU instead of a mid-gen console refresh. I’m hoping the bridge gets connected between consoles and PC.
Folks complaining this will be just a PC, so? Those who buy an Xbox or PS, why? For the ease of living room use, form factor, and maybe exclusives. So if they maintain the first 2 points while also making it more versatile, sounds like a win win.

I’m not falling for 4k ,120fps market spouting again lol
Even 4090s barely do that lol
2K 120fps is easy to do with most any up to date gaming PC. There are very few AAA games running at 4K 120fps natively on anything other the the highest end gaming PCs. I play "4K" 120fps with my 4070ti but that's with DLSS turned on. Most games are only gonna run around 60-70fps at native 4K.
They never spouted that. They said 4k up to 120

So why not just get a Steam Machine?

@@dannypassion That’s why consoles like the Xbox and PS5 are so much easier to optimise for and pc is much more difficult with varying hardware and why devs like Rockstar develop for consoles first and foremost and pc waits 2 years for a port
But the Consoles prices are subsidized. I know PC is better value for money in the long run but not every body can wait couple of more months to save up money for a PC. Right now, you can build a PS5 equivalent PC for 650$ but few years ago, you absolutely can't.

Thats nearly $1300 for a PC over all when I bought a Xbox series X for $500 and the series x runs games just as well.

Dont worry, Sony will soon follow suit and be labeled the "innovator" by all the fake journalist
They’ll ruin the industry like they did Xbox.
@jubei2011 Nintendo quit. But it worked out for them. They made the most powerful console at the time (Gamecube) and it flopped. Don't forget that part 😂.

Yeah but no PC has all its parts custom made specifically for it.
Especially when they are struggling to sell a console for $299.

I'm not a big PC gamer but I got a gaming PC and will just start to play Xbox there more. Right now, I don't see much a of a future for Xbox hardware as things stand but if they can change the game with something like this, that plays all PC games but has a console interface and features, I'll very likely be in.
Nothing wrong with xbox hardware right now. Why would it's future not look good with all the games it has lined up and gamepass.
@antoniohill4451 For a lot of us, we dont have high interest because all of their games are available on other platforms. I would just get a PS6 and PC and play there.
That title doesn’t even make sense.
all the youtubers who are discounting Xbox now saying its all over would soon eat their own words.

Microsoft/XBox will end up like Sega.
I prefer platforms for online games with no cheaters
You can still get cheaters on consoles lol
@ ooo really? Tell me smart how to see through the walls on console Or aim bot lol

I still game both on consoles (PS5, Switch), sold my Series X and I recently came back to PC gaming.
@@wascha In theory, yes. In practice, I'm sure Xbox will find a way to screw this up as well.

So, history repeats itself. Back in the 80ies console manufacturers also tried to make their consoles more PC like by adding peripherals like keyboards, etc. It flopped because people then bought a real computer instead. And the winner was…Nintendo.
This thing will flop hard. just like xbox series. long gone xbox360 genre, they don't care us.

I've been a fan of Xbox since 2006., but it's pretty much game over for me with it, since they have absolutely no idea what they're doing. Changing business strategies all the time, schizo pivoting all over the place, they continually destroyed the brand and now it's in the ground. When you want to play with your xbox games and have an optimized experience you turn on the XBox OS, when you want to do productivity stuff or play with your steam or playstation games you turn on Windows (maybe a third OS for Playstation?).
Price: around 500$
But then...
- Then you DOCK the handheld into a GPU module that give you more graphic power and allow you to play or work on a larger monitor.
Price: around 500$ as well
- You have accesibility and portability with the handheld at a low price and raw power with the gpu module if you want to pay a premium price.
They have a MASSIVE chance to win the next generation… if they actually go on with this.. it will be crazy
A great idea, but unless the parts are competitively priced, that box is gonna be a no go area for most parents who are more than aware of the trap of printer cartridges etc.
LOL if razer is making the next-gen xbox im out.
They are also bringing World of Warcraft to Xbox Game Pass after The Last Titan expansion. Bringing the biggest MMO in the world to game pass will be Huge.
It needs to happen
So why would I want this over a real pc or the valve route? What incentive other than my digital library would I have to keep me in the xbox ecosystem. I don't care for play anywhere. And I don't care about cloud gaming.
You’re hitting on the core of the problem for Microsoft here. Steam is geared up to offer all the flexibility described. A console like interface, a handheld device, a library that follows you everywhere. Third party bespoke hardware running Steam os.
Valve seems poised to offer exactly this solution within months, while Xbox certainly is still years away
Can’t wait for this Xbox/PC hybrid coming console.
Take my money
I believe the 3rd party brands will just have an Xbox app that allows streaming.
This. They have no fucking clue what they're doing, so they're copying outdated models from other industries (smartphone and streaming services).
Hoping for a premium console. I'm literally willing to pay 800+ bucks, if they can deliver
Same, I'm tired of obsolete hardware at launch
Yeah I’ve always been an Xbox fan boy from day one. And always will be. ✌️ 👾🕹🎮✌️
what game is this 3:24 ?
Modded starfield
you might need to re edit and upload at 11:25
As someone who made a frontend before all i can say is if true they might have issues with aspects ratio because of different tv sizes and the only way i think they can fix this is if they recreate textures of ui for different ratios which is gonna double space that is taken up
This doesn't make sense when I can just play them on PC
Same is said for any Xbox console and Playstation
I would even simplify that and say that basically, Nintendo knows exactly what it needs to be. The other companies are adrift.
A razer xbox would be awesome, razer makes hell of good products just really expensive.
What's good about them?
If they can come up with an Xbox fully opened to other stores for $850, Im buying it day one.
Years later I am still waiting for a game worth playing that takes advantage of all the false promises of the Series X. Never again.
Indiana Jones 🤷🏽♂️
Still limiting yourself to exclusives? The Series X is a fantastic console, it can even play 3rd party games. Maybe you should get the PS5PRO
Bye 👋
Says the Sony fanboy
What are these false promises you speak of? Im curious
I'll pass
At 48 I'm old school
This only means thing will get more expensive
Most games have been so bad lately I don't even play anymore, I'd rather play my guitar
Indie games are pretty good tho ;-)
AAA is a dumpster fire!
We want a PC Based XBOX NOT a Steam Based one.
I’ve wondered why Microsoft didn’t do this sooner
Xbox with Steam, AI, MODS, forward and Back compat, gamepass, and a handheld is literally a dream come true. So glad Bill Gates is a geek first and businessman second.
If developers hated the Series S. They are gonna hate this idea. Especially if all the Xbox & OEM consoles have a range of specs.
Make is scalable like on PC. You can even make it easy have presets low medium high and allow the user to pick one. It’s not that difficult. Like he said if they want to make a pc it has to behave like a pc
This is a whole different idea then the Xbox series s. I think you missed the whole point of the video
@@daveys_gaming_corner even if they are essentially PC's. Doesn't mean devs will be happy to make games for them. Look at Android mobile devices. You have literally hundreds of OEM manufacturers with a range of app stores. But you'll only find all apps on a small number of app stores.
@@Liquid12322 no I didn't. It sounds like the Steam Box. If Microsoft thinks it can make it work but Valve couldn't. They are in for a shock.
This sounds great!
The problem is that the games you buy on steam you don't actually have ownership of
5:34 as a pc player I've had this for years now and it's the best of all worlds.
I love this direction. PC is my Xbox , Series S and X are my Xbox. Can’t wait for new app being released that change my PC into full Xbox experience.
I hope it works out
If Microsoft Is Gonna make an “XBOX/PC-Hybrid” make sure you guys partner with "OMEN-Gaming"... Because I like their Stuff!
Man I just need handhelds to get more powerful. My dream gaming machine is a Steam Deck with tons of power/battery and the ability to play anti-cheat games like COD. Right now I love playing on my ROG Ally X but I still feel like it needs more power
If it's not too much to ask for, can someone tell what game is at 2:19 , at 5:22 and at 7:00 ?
2:19 & 7:00 is Mass Effect: Andromeda
@@naywahn thank you!
@@naywahn 5:22 is still a mystery :))))
@@naywahn ok found it. It's God Of War Ragnarok
Baffles me that all three greedy companies decided to lock cloud saves behind a paywall, this is why I support steam above all others.
This all sounds good to me. As long as we keep that “plug and play” console experience. Having dipped my toes in PC gaming with my Legion Go, I’m personally not very fond of the tweaking sometimes necessary to get optimal performance.
Done with console if the prices are going to be headed this way. I'd rather spend that money on something useful in life.
Microsoft CEO should consider to go thru with no censorship bs woke shitty games ect!!period!!lmao
It would be cool if the next gen consoles came out with an eGPU instead of a mid-gen console refresh. I’m hoping the bridge gets connected between consoles and PC.
That would be a truly game changing strategy for Xbox 🎉
Valve is now explicitly disclosing that you don't own the games you buy from its Steam online store.
It's how it is everywhere. Even with most physical games
Folks complaining this will be just a PC, so? Those who buy an Xbox or PS, why? For the ease of living room use, form factor, and maybe exclusives. So if they maintain the first 2 points while also making it more versatile, sounds like a win win.
2:26 game ?
Mass Effect: Andromeda
