Sorry for the wait guys! Here’s a FULL in DEPTH review of my new car - BMW 640d M sport. The first drive video of this will be uploaded in a few days time, so keep an eye out!
I’ve owned this car for a few months now and I’m still loving it and look forward to getting into it every morning!
This was an upgrade from my E92 330d and in this video I talk about why I bought this particular 640d, costs involved and a walk around, checking out all the features, such as the B&O sound system, HUD display, 360’ cameras, panoramic roof and many more!
This is honestly my dream car and I hope you guys like it!

A very comprehensive and well presented review. I bought a 640d 2 door a year ago, and it is, as you say, a lovely car to drive. I absolutely love it! What do you guys think of the 640i? I am not exactly a fan of the typical diesel sound. Is it very noticeable in this car? In that case it would be worth for me to pay the extra price for the 640i gas. But i don´t know, maybe i would not even notice the diesel sound after few weeks... i appreciate any comment :)
@@Schaufelor hey bro, to be honest you won’t notice the diesel sound that much. It won’t be as smooth as petrol. But it’s got so much sound insulation, that inside the car you won’t notice it. Even on the outside, it sounds decent. 👍🏼

The 640d however was the natural choice of upgrade for me, I’ve always been a fan of these and when I saw this one pop up on autotrader, I went the next day and bought it. Good review, however one thing you were incorrect on. The windscreen camera is for the high-beam assist & lane departure warning system. The birds-eye view image is generated from the cameras under each side view mirror.

Thank you so much David, I’m loving this 640d! Although the 330d e92 still holds a special place in my heart 😆 I felt the 640d was the natural upgrade from the e92, not a fan of the 4 series 🤷🏻♂️

@@Brian-jv8iy I agree with the regular oil service. BMW Recommend doing the oil service every 15,000 miles on this car! I’ve chopped that in half. I’m doing the oil service every 8,000 miles, plus other maintenance to keep it tip top 👍🏼

Great video thank you! I've loved the 6 series GC for years now and may be in a position to buy one for the first time. A friend recently bought a Gulia and made the point that in not too long from now ICE cars just won't exist on the roads , so if you want a special one you need to try and get it soon!

Just look at out for (these were the problems I had with my car when I bought it)
1. Check general electrics - my passenger seat would go back randomly.
2. Front left light main bulb would go off sometimes. (Mine have LED lights which are expensive to repair!)
3. And it should go like a train, so give it a good push and make sure it feels rights. Your gut will tell you.
The previous owner told me about these issues so I knew what I was getting myself into.
I’ve also done a video on these issues and a few others which will be uploaded soon. All in all, great car and worth every penny!

Great review. Ive been looking for one but cant decide on the colour. Im traditionally black, but the space grey and white look really nice. Whats the general consensus on the best colour for a 640 ?
Hey, to be honest all solid colours look great on this car, however my previous car was a space grey 330d e92 and that’s why I went for a white 640d, I wanted it to be different and stand out a little. But I do like the greys in these 😍 whether it’s grey, black, white or midnight blue - they’ll all look great! This spec is spot on. How do you compare the 640 vs. the M6? Is it that different in day to day driving? They cost half the price, use half as much fuel (and cheaper) and the maintenance is much cheaper. The 640d is not that slow.
Hey! I have an M6 too, so this is a good question. Overall this 640d is much cheaper to run. Definitely saving a lot on fuel, insurance and road tax! And like you said, the 640d is definitely not slow and has a lot of low end grunt. But the M6 is something special. May cost you more to run, but it is worth it! Both are fantastic cars in my opinion, however if you don’t want to spend that much, then the 640d is a good option! 🙌🏼

My e92 335d was written off by a pillock on a roundabout a few weeks back. Was running about 360 bhp and 715nm. Did you do the same?

Hi Ben, ahh sorry to hear that bro, people don’t know how to drive lol. I had a e92 330d for 3 years and I absolutely loved it, so reliable! However I wanted to get an upgrade, so I bought this 640d and sold the 330d. I have no regrets, the 640d is an absolute machine, great all rounder and still good on fuel. You’ll notice it’s bigger though.
A few things to look out for:
1. Check general electrics - my passenger seat would go back randomly.

Great review but BMW lifted the interior controls from the F01 7 series and top end F10 5 series models. I have the same set up in my 730d except for the larger infotainment screen.
With a Remap the 640d would be a rocket ship.
Thanks Phil, yep aware that the buttons had an uplift in the facelift models. I’ve always been a fan of the 7 series too, that’s real luxury and comfortability! To be honest the 640d is already quick but I may think about a remap one day 😉

I'm stuck with 640d vs 640i. I don't know which one I prefer. The 640i is petrol, sounds better, faster reaction, better overall sensation, cheaper to maintain... The 640d is cheaper to run, and for insurance, a bit faster and doesn't have bad sound at all! What a difficult choice man
I have the 640d recently had it remapped to 400bhp and 800nm - firstly the 640d stock is quick (no doubt) but remapped it is a serious machine. I’ve taken mine to a number of car shows and I have kept the likes of 911’s honest. If I was you, go for the diesel!
Not a difficult choice, the 640i will be the one to have long term if you keep your cars for a long time/indefinitely. 640i also has the active sports exhaust standard with facelift models. I daily it and love it. Done 32k miles in mine in the last 2 years.
That diesel suits the perfectly. It’s a weapon.
Don't be a peasant with a diesel, the diesel is not any quicker than the petrol.
@@Anythingyoulike2013 they are about the same in a straight line but the torque is insane in the diesel which suits this type of car perfectly. The diesel is on a different level. The petrol is more suited to the smaller cars such as 3 and 4 series.

Had my 640d GC for 5 years ..remapped at 408bhp never had any issues, top end around 140 mph and fast enough 0-60 to get you where you want quickly.
Where mapped ? What mods.

Hi Kyle, appreciate it and thanks for watching! I actually bought the car like this, so credit to the previous owner. However you can buy the skirts/splitters from Maxton Design. They’re on Instagram or just google them. It makes the car look that little bit nicer!

Hey, thank you appreciate it! I’m still chuffed I actually own this 640d 😮 my dad had a CLS 350 diesel and to be honest they are very similar in fuel and servicing cost. The CLS has air suspension and has been quite costly to repair in the past. I think you won’t notice a difference in costs that much!
I had a cls. This is almost half as much in road tax. More power. And better MPG....no brainer really.
I've got an e46 m3 and getting fed up with rattles, bumps, noise etc. Been looking at newer M3s but the more I think about it, the more I'm thinking I'd prefer less anxiety and get one of these.
Do you miss the E46 when driving this? I have an F25 daily with the single turbo N57 and, imo, is faster around town than the m3
I had a m6, and saved my self so much anxiety and stress and got a 640d so easy to run, only a 3.0 diesel and it’s quick and sounds lovely…
Im own e90 335d 370hp/800nm. And looking jump to e71 x6 or 640d. It worth to do it or keep better e90? Thanks for advice.

Hey Lewis, the car has been great on fuel, I’m averaging about 34-35mpg. And don’t forget this is quite a heavy car, so I think it’s good, plus I tend to have a heavy foot too! It should definitely be better than an A45 👍🏼

How heavy does a 6 feel compared to the e92? thbak
It does feel heavier. The e92 definitely felt more nimble and agile. However the 6 offers a more comfortable, relaxing drive.
Great car. Black wheels do it zero favours though.

I passed my way cause how unreliable those are, especially the N57 (3.0 diesel) chain issues, rod bearing issues, catching fire (egr issue) high pressure pump recall (only in the us) here in europe its 12.000€ to replace everything..
Love it how all of a sudden it became a "beauty", while when it was brand new costing brand new car money, everybody, I mean absolutely everybody, was burying it.
Hey! Yep I agree. It was an expensive car when it came out but you can pick them up at bargain prices nowadays! And that’s why they’ve probably become popular. I’ve personally have always loved the design of this car 😍. P.S sorry for the late reply!

I had one for 2 years. Too big and not the best handling car. Poor dynamics for a bmw - wouldn’t buy a 640d ever again
Rubbish car I had one for 3 years - not very dynamic, drives like a ship
Yep does feel a little boaty, but then again it is a grand cruiser. Best on the motorway in my opinion. Still can throw it around too.
