People who say things like "that's not funny!" don't really understand humor. Making jokes about serious things is how we deal with the serious/hard parts of life.
Sadly I think there are just such people that are as they would say, the sensitive type, and I personally think it's ok if you're a more emotionally driven person. However, think we can all agree that people like this should probably reconsider going to live audience comedy show. Because many comedians will roast a person about anything! @@beyond_hjaemmetraening The eyes were alread on her, man. What are the options? Have no one talking, and this woman just recieving medical attention in the middle of a packed room, or have a comic talk at the crowd so at least their's some degree of deflection and a lighter air surrounding all of it. And it's not like you can just do material that isn't addressing the situation, it's not going to connect and it's going to seem inconsiderate. Besides all that, you can tell he's being sincere. Like he honestly knows the position she was in and wanted her to know she didn't have to feel bad about it. There'a a very good chance it didn't make her any less embarrassed at the moment, obviously, but there's also a very good chance she appreciated it in hindsight. Had he not said anything to her as she was walking out, she's really left with nothing but an indication that she was an interruption to everyone's good time. That just carries this alienating, dehumanizing element that seems way worse to me.
@@billie_vanilli I did not say that he should not joke about it. It is just the annoying "don't be embarresed" comment . I would be furious if he did that to me in that situation. Such a dickhole comment imo.
@@beyond_hjaemmetraening I didn't accuse you of saying he couldn't or shouldn't joke about it. That's not the reason I was trying to explain why he probably felt like he had to joke. I went into describing that in order to draw a plausible line of reasoning that would have led him to make the "don't be embarrassed" comment. He was tasked with trying to provide a distraction and get the show back on track, but there was no way talking about anything else would work. That doesn't mean he wanted her to feel bad about herself, so he said that to her. I'd agree it was a dick comment if he said it condescendingly, but I only saw sincerity in his words. And he was showing obvious concern for her throughout all of it, so I see no reason for her to share your outrage at that comment, but hey, idk. I know if it were me, I'd appreciate it. Maybe not right then, but later on for sure.
Nah I'm fucking glad he said that. It's already a scene, people are already looking at you. The worst thing about having a seizure is the embarrassment afterwards, and most people don't understand the guilt/embarrassment people feel after having one. Also she likely doesn't even remember this lol. Shit is hella confusing after a seizure.
As a comedian he did his job. He lightened the mood of an entire room after they witnessed a seizure but the paramedic sat there and complained about jokes
As an epileptic, I feel bad that she had to miss the show. I miss out on a lot of things because of seizures and skipped med doses. I'd be pissed if I woke up with paramedics over me, taking me out of the room.

I was blessed to see this live. Absolutely phenomenal. I have never in my 29 years of being alive have ever laughed so damn hard. Superb. And my wife and I got to meet you. Best night ever.
As someone who had a seizure, this is my biggest fear. I love his compassion and genuine concern. Being said, there's absolutely nothing you can say to make the person not feel embarrassed, especially when the entire show was derailed and all the attention was on you. It especially sucks because it's forever online. When you have a seizure you just want to have a normal night and it royally sucks when it randomly happens and people see you at your worst. It's always on the back of your mind. I'm constantly thinking "what if I had a seizure right now?"
@@MGSLurmey That's the thing, though... was he joking about HIS experiences, or the experiences of someone else? Having a seizure in public can be really embarrassing. Yeah sure, laugh and joke about it... but I feel like the line is where you're laughing with a person about their experience or laughing AT a person about their experience. He wasn't the one who had the seizure. Paramedic lady was wrong for not helping, but... he was taking it a bit too far. Not to mention, you can actually die AFTER having a seizure... so she potentially wasn't out of the woods yet.

Been years since i looked at the medical field but i believe they follow the same protocol as police and security. Once a drop of alcohol enters your system you cant help. If you do you can and will be sued for malpractice
Not arguing but just adding information. If she'd been drinking, she may not. Depends on the level of emergency, level of intoxication, etc. Medical professionals may be held liable unless there was no other options and they're not too drunk and the level of intervention needed is low complexity. That being said, she could have at least checked out the situation and directed people. Epileptic seizures are generally not too hard to assist with. Protect their head and put them on their side. Call 911. Watch for other symptoms.
I also wonder if location could have been a factor. Since they were in Florida, there's an above average chance that she might have been on a vacation. Each state has their own laws pertaining to the expectations, limitations, and the extent of immunity for off-duty and/or out-of-state medical personnel. She might not have known what she was legally allowed to do in that situation. Still not an excuse, but maybe a contributing factor. Especially if she saw that the situation was already under control.

She’s a paramedic. She legally has an obligation to jump in and assist. On or off the clock
Prob didn't bc she didn't want to miss the show she paid to complain, apparently.
