    My my. Another Affinity whiz with great tools and tips. It's 12:43am and I'm sleepy from vids. But no, I'm experimenting and utilizing what I've learned from the varied AP contributors. The complex is simplified, the tools and the techniques are clarified. Where would we be? Sincere thanks.

    Do you do a photo to watercolour abstract video please?

  • @budsurtees4224
    @budsurtees4224 3 роки тому +3

    Very informative. Thank you very much! But what if you wanted only a certain part of the photograph to have the watercolor effect and the rest would remain as a photographic image? For example in the portrait the face would remain photographic while the hair and dress would gradually fade into a watercolor effect, outwards from the center? I've seen that done in some print catalogs and it creates a very interesting effect which keeps the focus on the main subject while fading everything else into a watercolor. Could you do a video on this? Thank you again.

      Hi bud, what you are looking to achieve can be done in a very similar way using layer masks - Export your final edit > open your original image and place your edited version on top in a new layer > add a mask > invert the mask > with the brush tool, paint over the areas where you want to reveal the sketch / paint effect. (Maybe something I could include in a future video) - One of my previous tutorials explains how to use layer masks: ua-cam.com/video/SMEnFqr5rpE/v-deo.html
      Thanks for your comment and feedback. very much appreciated.

    An excellent presentation but a little too fast for beginners like myself.

    Hi - what Affinity Photo are you using? This is exactly what I've been looking for to turn my photos into paintings. More from a sketch point of view though as I want to actually paint with either watercolor or acrylics (I'm not a very good sketch artist). I see that there are several Affinity Photo apps and I don't know which one to get.

    Ok, I get your process. It's more of filtering & adjusting an image. You are not really painting. (like you say)

    • @Jayat3am
      @Jayat3am  3 роки тому

      Spot on Lee. 'Painting' relates to using the brush tool to paint on to an inverted mask to reveal the image below without leaving any hard edges, not actually painting the image. This process is all about the layer order and layer adjustments to create the desired effect. Thanks for taking the time to comment. Much appreciated.

    I dunno but the charcoal effect is like lots of stuff to make a photo look crappy.
