    Very good instructional video but it moves much too fast for me to be able to see what is being done. I'm going to attempt to slow the video down so I can see the individual steps.

    Hi - what Affinity Photo are you using? This is exactly what I've been looking for to turn my photos into paintings. More from a sketch point of view though as I want to actually paint with either watercolor or acrylics (I'm not a very good sketch artist). I see that there are several Affinity Photo apps and I don't know which one to get.

    Nice tutorial, using various techniques. I personally like your trimmed down approach, as you don't give us the layman's version of the tools you use, you are addressing viewers who already have a good command of Affinity Photo. I liked that you gave us details of what artistic effects you were looking for instead. I got a lot from this tutorial, and subscribed to your channel to reward you.

    Hi, I have a really basic question, so hope that's okay. But as I sometimes end up with a brush with eg splatters on it from work on previous time, and can't seem to get rid of them to do a mask for example as you've done here, am I noticing correctly that you 'change brushes' as it were after finishing one process, by clicking on the arrow in the left hand column and then clicking on the black space to the right of the pic? Is that the secret for me to start with a new tool instead of not being able to get rid of the previous tool I might have used? Sorry if this sounds nuts! I am getting on a bit!

    • @Jayat3am
      @Jayat3am 2 роки тому

      Hi Barb, apologies for the late reply. Life has been a little chaotic of late! I use keyboard shortcuts. Affinity has pre-defined shortcuts to change tools etc and also allows you to create your on shortcuts. definitely worth looking into. maybe something I could share in the near future?

      Hi there, apologies for the late reply. Life has been a little chaotic of late! I've manged to develop my techniques with Affinity by simply experimenting and watching videos from other users in the community. It's also worth checking out Photoshop related techniques too... different software but the techniques and principles are the same. :)

    My my. Another Affinity whiz with great tools and tips. It's 12:43am and I'm sleepy from vids. But no, I'm experimenting and utilizing what I've learned from the varied AP contributors. The complex is simplified, the tools and the techniques are clarified. Where would we be? Sincere thanks.

    Very informative. Thank you very much! But what if you wanted only a certain part of the photograph to have the watercolor effect and the rest would remain as a photographic image? For example in the portrait the face would remain photographic while the hair and dress would gradually fade into a watercolor effect, outwards from the center? I've seen that done in some print catalogs and it creates a very interesting effect which keeps the focus on the main subject while fading everything else into a watercolor. Could you do a video on this? Thank you again.

    • @Jayat3am
      @Jayat3am 2 роки тому

      Hi bud, what you are looking to achieve can be done in a very similar way using layer masks - Export your final edit > open your original image and place your edited version on top in a new layer > add a mask > invert the mask > with the brush tool, paint over the areas where you want to reveal the sketch / paint effect. (Maybe something I could include in a future video) - One of my previous tutorials explains how to use layer masks: ua-cam.com/video/SMEnFqr5rpE/v-deo.html Thanks for your comment and feedback. very much appreciated.

  • @BZROMULAN

    Ok, I get your process. It's more of filtering & adjusting an image. You are not really painting. (like you say)

    • @Jayat3am
      @Jayat3am 2 роки тому

      Spot on Lee. 'Painting' relates to using the brush tool to paint on to an inverted mask to reveal the image below without leaving any hard edges, not actually painting the image. This process is all about the layer order and layer adjustments to create the desired effect. Thanks for taking the time to comment. Much appreciated.
