    In india and pakistan people use flowering nodes to cook. Expensive and very high delightful dish. In some countries they even cook the green seed pots also. The whole tree has health benefits.

      Are there roots invasive? Can i plant them in my narrow 5ft side yard?

    • @AmzBackyardOrchardandVineyard
      @AmzBackyardOrchardandVineyard  3 місяці тому

      No, not for us. 😎
      BUT Invasive roots is a relative term. All plants roots search for water in one way or another. These will not lift up walls, concrete or house foundations if watered deeply and properly.

      If you are worried about space, they can be pruned to size. They are very forgiving when pruned. They can grow 30 ft tall and 30 ft wide if you let them.

    I’ve been wanting to plant one in my yard here in the west valley but wasn’t sure how it would do with our scorching summers. Love the video.

    HAVE YOU EVERY HAD LACE BUGS ON YOUR HONGKONG ORCHID ANF IF SO WHAT DOES THE TREES LOOK LIKE AND HOW DID YOU TREAT IT?

      If we did, we didn't notice it. We would try spraying the tree with a jet sprayer setting on our hose nozzle . Then right away insecticidal soap and neem oil in a 1 gallon mix everyday together. If that didn't work we would have to go a little stronger.

    I was told that the Hong Kong can not be grown from seed that the ones that grow from seeds are another variety of it. I got the white and pink but I'm going to get the HK one from too.

    Hi! I just received a Hong Kong orchid tree as a gift, and her leaves are turning yellow! :( Is this a nutrient or sunlight issue? Thank you!

      Orchid tree love heat, Warm temps are coming soon. I would first figure out a spot where I am going to put it, full sun all day long even during the summer would be fine.

      I would personally acclimate it to our new environment where we live. Keep it in its pot, fertilize it with a fish fertilizer. 5-1-1 and 0-10-10 together to give it a boost before planting. Follow directions on the label of the jugs. More is not necessary better.

      We still have a couple of more months before our heat really starts setting in, May.. about a week after you gave it the fertilizer treatment I would plant it ASAP. Orchids live in poor soil condition which we have here in the Phoenix area. Just fill in the hole with a native soil. First compost on top of the soil and then wood chips! You're good to go. Don't let the compost or mulch touch the trunk.

      You need to fertilize with iron in the late spring or early summer months. Not sure if it will reverse the already yellow leaves, but it will help prevent any more yellowing.
