Thank you for watching! Be sure to let me know what I should cover in the next video! Here is a link to the first video in the series: ua-cam.com/video/LVnARJXX6i0/v-deo.html
This is a great video man. I run a small UA-cam channel where I cover similar stuff, called TheDigitalDivide. We should do a collaboration? This is a random example for you: The Wii U in 2024 ua-cam.com/video/4ZvSTol_QW0/v-deo.html
I loved the map creator in FarCry Instincts. I made a castle in the sky level in the game, but since there's no fall damage in the game, the only way to get back up was to drown yourself in a tiny puddle :D
Hey Lare, not really familiar with your work but I've seen you comment on a ton of stuff I like so ill check your page out after this. I just wanted to say that FC was my very first experience with map editing. My friend and I created some abominations with totally dark underwater tunnels, mountains about one foot wide and like 1,000 feet high, and some really ugly beaches covered in crap. They were terrible but I was amazed at how good the water looked and the graphics in general. While primitive by today's tech, this level editor introduced me to the idea so when Halo forge came 'round, we were primed for it conceptually.
I remember when Invisible War was announced for Xbox I was so hyped. They were using a lot of cool new graphical techniques that we had not seen a ton of at that point on Xbox like advanced shadows and lighting and full bump mapping on the textures. It was awesome because it showed console players that an FPS could also be an RPG and not just run and gun. Still one of my fav OG Xbox games. I actually didn't care for Red Faction II much though because when it came out I was still actively playing Halo CE and I really loved the first Red Faction. Both of those games had a sort of large, open and unscripted feel to the gameplay, whereas RFII felt very linear and scripted in contrast. One particular moment that I remember turning me off to RFII very early in the game is when you are shooting down these ships/planes and when you destroy them it's just a destroyed ship/plane with no enemy pilot in sight. And since I had been also playing Halo where when you shoot down an enemy Banshee the elite piloting it would fall out, it sort of broke the immersion for me. I've always loved the Rainbow Six games on Xbox but I remember this being the one that introduced me to the toxic wasteland that is the competitive Rainbow Six multiplayer community lol. I'm pretty sure I've played Far Cry and Medal of Honor but I don't think it was much. I may have to pick of Far Cry though and check out that map editor, that looks fun. Great video as always.
Thanks for watching and for your membership, it really helps out the channel! Yeah, the look of Invisible War is so stunning for the console. The use of shadows is insane. I totally can see not loving RF II for those reasons though, I could see it feeling like a step back. Glad that I never played Rainbow Six games online back in the day, it does not sound like a good environment lol
The amazing thing for me, is Rainbow Six 3 came with a mic. My first mic. You could command the squad with voice commands. Deus Ex Invisible War is a favourite of mine. It's flawed, yes, but for me it was the first time I got to be Alex. I was the hero. I still remember the endings. I played it a lot.
Dude everybody hates on Invisible War but it's such a fun and replayable game. Getting rid of the blood and the bad language was a step down from the first game. but there was a lot of step ups too. The physics were better. The graphics still look good today. I still run through Invisible War every couple of years and have fun with it.
Red faction 2 I remember being 7 years old not knowing how to get past the first part in level one without just doing random things until the beam broke lol
Farcry instincts!!! Awesome video as always! All the games you mentioned we had growing up and did you talk about the Riddick game yet?? Its a good one!
Mac Griffin Bounty Hunter was a lost gem Xbox FPS that I remember playing the demo of from the Xbox Magazine Demo disc. Was this game already reviewed on this channel?
While actually a First Person Sneaker, _Thief: Deadly Shadows_ rarely gets its due. Like with _Deus Ex: Invisible War;_ once you understand how to play by _its_ rules, _Thief_ controls like butter and has nearly endless replayability thereafter.
Some FPS games I really enjoy for the original Xbox would be Serious Sam XIII Soldier of Fortune Double Helix Doom 3 Urban Chaos Riot Response I would have included Black but you already covered that one
Red Faction 2 was always one of my favorites. Another great shooter on Xbox was Unreal Championship. I know it was just a console version of UT 2004, but man did I have a great time with that one! Still holds up, too!
0:26 It was because of the PC hardware in the Xbox as opposed to the other game consoles, a lot more FPS games could be ported from PC to Xbox and PC had a lot of FPS games because of the keyboard and mouse. About 10% of all OG Xbox games are shooters 101 out of 998. For the PS2 1.3% are shooters 61 out of 4,736. 4.3% of Gamecube games were shooters 28 out 651. Dreamcast was 4.5% or 28 out of 620.
Actually I retract part of my statement, may games in quickliest appear misidentified as shooters like aircombat games or even a soccer game. I would have to manually go through each game and I don't feel like it. My guess though is the OG Xbox still has the highest percentage of FPS games though.
I love that Deus Ex used the Thief 3 engine and had crazy lighting effects and stealth mechanics... And they didn't even really mention it in game lol that game was so decent and the endings are... Well, galaxy brain. Literally.
I was a big fan of the original Red Faction, but I've just never liked the 2nd one. I might give it another shot as you get both Lance Hendrickson and freakin Jason Statham voicing characters in 2. Far Cry Instincts is impressive and that map editor is great. But I'd probably stick with the Xbox 360 port that includes it and its sequel in one package. Deus Ex Invisible War gets a lot of flak, but I still thought it was good. I like the original more, but I don't hate the sequel. I don't think I had the Xbox version of Medal of Honor Frontline. I remember owning it as PS2 and a few years ago I played through the HD Remaster on PS3. Good game, but Medal of Honor Allied Assault was better. Recently picked up a copy of Rainbow Six, gonna have to play it one day. Don't care at all for recent Tom Clancy Ubisoft games. Shame we didn't get that port of that forgotten Starship Troopers FPS from the mid 2000s. Plus a cancelled game based on Vin Diesel's xXx film.
It wasnt as good as he original, but i loved Deus Ex: Invisible War, so much i go though and play through from time to time. Thief:deadly shadows which came after is a fav to this day, id love that game to be remade. While not a original Xbox shooter, the Deus Ex:HR influenced game Murder: Soul Suspect is a unsung great game that also didnt get its due.
Have you considered doing a video on missions that were released for games on xbox live back in the day. These downloads were could be for multiplayer only focused but they also had single player missions as well. There are places you are able to download them and can be exeprienced today that i know alot of poeple have no clue about them.
Yeah, it's something I've wanted to do for a while and I might have to do it soon. The missions I want to check out are the ones for Splinter Cell. Are there any others you recommend?
Medal Of Honor: Frontline is a masterpiece. For me, it’s more like a interactive war film made by Steven Spielberg than a documentary, which would make sense since he is the one that started the series in the first place. It sucks that Microsoft made it stuck on the original Xbox. Why they never made it backwards compatible on the Xbox One and yet made Airborne compatible is beyond me. Red Faction 2 is an alright game. It’s the weakest of the entire series though, not counting the Battlegrounds spinoff. It could have been better.
MOH Frontline is one of my favourite games ever full stop I never get sick of it , I can fire it up anytime and run through it I even bought a PS3 and a copy of MOH2010 which included a remastered version of Frontline it was glorious at 60fps 😁
I played the original Far Cry on the PC a few times and I was always curious how Instincts differ from that, I'll try it on CXBX-Reloaded soon! Love the classic Rainbow Six games, the original one for the PS1 isn't quite as the PC in scope, but it's still a great game that I played a lot, 3 is also on the list and it's already installed on the PC.
I’ve just played far cry instincts for the first time and omg mind blown!😂 I’ve literally had the best time trying it out tonight! I’ve played far cry the original that I thought was rubbish but loved 2 enjoyed 3 hated 4 and barely put any time in 5. So much fun!
Fun Fact: I watched a Video of Red Faction 2 a few weeks ago from a Time when it was released :D If u want i can give it to u to watch but it is in german
Have you checked out Soldier of Fortune 2 Double Helix and Return to Castle Wolfenstein? Those 2 are without the best FPS’s on the OG Xbox imo Edit, you did cover SOF :D
I'm of a devoted minority who regard Farcry instincts as the best far cry installment. I think that series fairs much better in an open-linear progression.
Didn't Invisible War get a lot of flak for being inferior to the original including some questionable design choices such as all weapons sharing the same ammo bar?
Unlike first video from 5 months ago, these games are everything but fantastic. Maybe I'm kinda grumpy and picky, but RF2 sucks in comparison to RF1. Deus Ex 2 also isn't exactly fans favorite sequel. Rainbow Six 3 consoles ports are way to far from the original full-sized PC release. Medal of Honor Frontline was okay, but stuck between PS1 and PS2 era with overly arcade setting while PC players had a blast with MoH: Allied Assault and Call of Duty 1. And Far Cry Instincts is just a joke, especially Wii version.
Thank you for watching! Be sure to let me know what I should cover in the next video!
Here is a link to the first video in the series:
ua-cam.com/video/LVnARJXX6i0/v-deo.html
Men of Valor, Unreal Championship, Half Life 2, Star Wars: Republic Commando, TimeSplitters 3: Future Perfect, Area 51, and Battlefield 2.
Timesplitters: Future Perfect, Men of Valor, and Area 51, Darkwatch, and Tron 2.0 Killer App are great options 🤘

lmao I'm glad I wasn't the only one who loved messing with the map editor. Thanks for the comment!
Hello you! I miss your videos Larry. Hope you're doing well mate
Does anybody else remember like “cop n predators” custom games lol

I loved playing thru Red Faction 2. It was fairly linear and I loved not getting lost. So much fun
Rainbow six 3 was so so good, really loved it when I was a kid. I couldn't handle the limited save function though, it was so hard!
The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay was a great FPS/steathy game.
Absolutely fantastic game. The first section blew me away the first time I played it. Thanks for joining the Camp Xbox members!
@@campxbox agreed and it got a re-release on 360 with an added game called Assault on Athena.

Love the old Tom Clancy Ghost Recons...I didn't like that I couldn't see my rifle, but it was way so more realistic AND you controlled 2 teams of 3.
4:50 the secret Hellfire Boltcaster is still one of the funnest weapons in videogames. A stealth dartgun that causes spontaneous combustion!
Farcry instincts!!! Awesome video as always! All the games you mentioned we had growing up and did you talk about the Riddick game yet?? Its a good one!
Glad you enjoyed it! I haven't talked about Riddick yet but it's definitely on the to-do list. It's a fantastic game!
Mac Griffin Bounty Hunter was a lost gem Xbox FPS that I remember playing the demo of from the Xbox Magazine Demo disc. Was this game already reviewed on this channel?
No not yet, but it's one I want to cover very soon!
Good shout 👍
That game is very good.

One of my favorites
Thief DS, along with the first two, is one of the best games ever made full stop.
Currently playing Duece Ex Invisible wars. Solid game with good soundtrack, lore, gameplay, and imersion.
Some FPS games I really enjoy for the original Xbox would be
Serious Sam
XIII
Soldier of Fortune Double Helix
Doom 3
Urban Chaos Riot Response
I would have included Black but you already covered that one
Urban Chaos was a good!
There a lot of interesting FPS on OG XBOX and Rainbow Six was really tactical like the PC Versions😃
this console created the console FPS craze that lives on today
Red Faction 2 was always one of my favorites. Another great shooter on Xbox was Unreal Championship. I know it was just a console version of UT 2004, but man did I have a great time with that one! Still holds up, too!

Glad you enjoy it! Thanks for watching!
I'm so glad to see this channel growing and getting the attention it deserves.
Thanks for watching for so long!
Farcry Instincts was and still is a incredible game.
Rainbox six 3 is a gem!
Wish this one shooter was available with back compat.... Riddick Escape from Butcher Bay. 😭
Medal of Homer Frontline is probably my favorite FPS of all time. The soundtrack is a masterpiece❤
I love that Deus Ex used the Thief 3 engine and had crazy lighting effects and stealth mechanics... And they didn't even really mention it in game lol that game was so decent and the endings are... Well, galaxy brain. Literally.
I like how you used Racing Lagoon music in the background :)
Have you covered the original Ghost Recon on Xbox? One of my all time favorites, I'd love a remaster!
No not yet, but that's one I've been requested to do a lot. That one is a classic!
I liked the multiplayer in Red Faction 2 as well, but even at the hardest setting the bots were far too easy. That was the drawback.
Timesplitters future perfect
I was a big fan of the original Red Faction, but I've just never liked the 2nd one. I might give it another shot as you get both Lance Hendrickson and freakin Jason Statham voicing characters in 2.

This video reminded me of Half-Life 2, that game sure pushed the console to its limits
It's how I first experienced Half-Life 2 and it was absolutely fantastic.

Red Factuon 2 is amazing and it's also on series X at 4k 60fps
I played through it AGAIN just about a month ago
tthe instincts predator was awesome on 360
The Marine strategy game that is real similar to Rainbow six.
Great channel
Deus ex invisible war
Needs a remake.
Games is really good .
Fun not that long .
Perfect op a console

I have all these for OGXbox

To this day I prefer to play FPS on Xbox. The controllers feel better for shooters to me
If Microsoft teased Xbox live for original Xbox turning back on
Aw no Timesplitters Future Perfect? :(
Didn't Invisible War get a lot of flak for being inferior to the original including some questionable design choices such as all weapons sharing the same ammo bar?
Yeah there are a lot of people who don't like it, but I think its a great time.
Xbox was held back by ps2 polygons on most ports
Red faction 2 is underrated
