    I don't know why there are a lot of negative people..the world would be a better place if humans practice POSITIVITY and KINDNESS..stop using this channel to insult people. we are all different and we have diff. preferences..Mark is working hard to show to us the diff. cuisines..stop comparing cultures to another,learn and appreciate things instead of finding flaws in them..

      @@jjjjk5652 Mmm K. Number 1, you need to study your geography as THAIS ARE ASIANS. Number 2, I AM FILIPINO and i dont see anything wrong with what I said. I love how Mark respects the intonation and accent of each country he goes to and tries to speak that way when pronouncing that name. You’re probably uncultured, judgmental and a lot more. It’s a pity you find hate in what I said. Have a good day though and all the best

    I love how Mark can relate to everyone and is so willing to learn new things about a countries food and culture. The chefs are so humble and inviting into their restaurants and kitchens. The chefs were so open to questions and are happy to talk about their food, I can't imagine this happening in many countries where a lot of chefs are arrogant. We have a lot to learn about humbleness and openness from these chefs. Food certainly brings people together and it's like he saying that once you break bread together you are family.

    Thanks a lot for promoting Filipino Food and sharing the nice experience in the Philippines. I also love Thai foods like tom yam goong the Thai beef salad and especially my favorite the Seafood Lad-nah. That's why i learned how to cook it too here in US. I have worked in Singapore for 5 years and in that 5 years of my stay I didn't have any problem of what food to eat, because there were a lot of choices and that's the reason why i got familiar with these asian foods. All Asian cuisine are so delicious and i hope that the exchange of foods between neighboring countries will continue so that everyone will know how tasty our foods are. Mabuhay! and God bless. . . . .

    I would say that the philippine food has a lot of influence from portuguese food! We also have the roast suckling pig (it's called leitão in Portugal) here in Portugal that's very similar to the lechon and we also eat lots of rice! :)

    • @bhoylhogro5093
      @bhoylhogro5093 7 років тому +11

      Oh, so that's why the pig was called "lechon" because it came from the Portuguese word. Good to know!

    • @billg26
      @billg26 7 років тому +5

      I'm not sure it's derived from the portuguese word but we had portuguese sailors reaching the Philippines several centuries ago, so if I had to make an educated guess I would go with the portuguese influence. In Spain they also have the roast suckling pig but it has a different name (cochinillo) and they slaughter the pig to cook it only 2 weeks after it was born, so it's quite different from the philippine lechon and the portuguese leitão.

      Filipe Martins that's really cool! There's some recipes on my mom's side that I've learned are Portuguese in origin (like the bacalau). I'm trying to trace my ancestry to see how those recipes got passed down.

    Don't forget to ask for fish sauce and chili as your dip in sauce. With that combination you will be able to experience the ultimate Sinigang taste. ;)

    These are from three years ago and I just enjoyed it. Watched the Binondo part first and I was initially disappointed that maybe Mark had no idea where to get good food. Luckily, Binondo's savior who is also a fan of Mark's showed up and tour him all over the best of the best places to get grub in Binondo... Great food. Great host! :)
    BTW, with the Binondo part they almost never spoke Fiipino. Maybe That was Hokkien or Cantonese... That would make sense since they are in Binondo.
    Also, in Pampanga, Mark talked about how oily some of the goat dishes were. As a person who interacted and lived in the Kapampangan areas I can say that maybe it wasn't the goats faut for the dish being oily. The Pampangos are known to love food that's a little more greasy compared to other places in the Philippines.. t's a good greasiness though. I love it too.
    Over all, good food, great host, great channel!
    Kudos Mark! COme back to the Philippines as soon as COvid's over.... :) :)
    Sawadekap!
