When i see a manong (man) selling them green mangoes with sweet and spicy bagoong (fish paste) i just cant help my self but to stop for a sec and eat. Out of all the street foods i ate i just cant eat balut, i understand why many other foreigners dont like it because of the appearance. but other than that, you should try everything, from bbqs, to isaws and kwek2. god i miss the old days in the philippines i wish i can come back there

I really missed Quiapo Manila studed my first year College in Manila 1960 and stayed in Quiapo boarding house after finishing my college degree in Iloilo City, I went back in Manila to find some work. I Worked in Manila for 8 years married with 2 Children and that time we lived in Bacood Sta. Mesa for the last 5 years of my Mainila residence and moved to the United States in 1974.

There's a place in Ph called Zamboanga where they speak "Chavacano". It's more on Spanish than Filipino. And as Filipino it fascinates me also that they were able to retain the language while in greater Manila, it's more on English. I wish the govt did not abolished the Spanish subject in college way back in the 90's.

You have not seen Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern. He is the man that ate a balut that gone rotten and ate no more of the rotten egg.But Andrew couldn't eat Durian and walnutts, favorites of Mark. Andrew Zimmern is a hero of Mark. But Manilla is a lot better than Bhutan and more entertaining. The market is amazing, so many different people; young and old mixing together. You have not seen Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern. He is the man that ate a balut that gone rotten and ate no more of the rotten egg.But Andrew couldn't eat Durian and walnutts, favorites of Mark. Andrew Zimmern is a hero of Mark. But Manilla is a lot better than Bhutan and more entertaining. The market is amazing, so many different people; young and old mixing together.
This video is an example that's keep me with awe for people that's make a living in market stalls. Thanks Mark for a beautiful video again !

You should visit Quiapo nowadays for the big change. I can even use my phone while walking in the streets of Quiapo unharmed and safe. I guess the new government changed a lot of things..
