      They are just adorable for it. For ours I found kissing them on the nose worked. They would let go and immediately turn into mush puppy, after all the love they can get. May not be a professional move, and frowned on because you could get bit. But I only did it on our pups who you know inside and out.

      @@ztigris nah, it's totally fine! HUGE difference between getting in YOUR OWN DOG'S face and a strange dog lol. I get in my pits faces all the time.. take away bones, treats, mess with them while they're eating all the time just to keep them used to it.. But, I've got quite a few pits and also have little kids running around everywhere. So I make sure every dog is 100000% stable/sound tempered and non aggressive over food/toy's/treats

    Anyone with an issue about George’s “let go” clearly hasn’t spent time with a bull terrier. They were selectively bred to bite down hard and hold on no matter what. That doesn’t mean they can’t be taught. It just takes a little while. You just need patience to match their stubbornness! Thank you for showing us what putting the work in actually looks like.

      And that's why its a good thing that they are banned in so many countries including the UK. Its not the dogs, its the fact that too many people who get dogs are not prepared, able or willing to get help needed to train them properly.

    • @saraho5846
      @saraho5846 2 роки тому +6

      @@cbcdesign001 you couldn’t have read what he said more wrong. They should not be banned. If you were in a group of people and one person stole something with no one else’s knowledge would it be fair that you were also punished and throw into jail just because you were in the same group as the person who stole? I don’t think you would appreciate it. I’ve owned 4 pit bulls not a single one ever showed any sign of aggression. I’m a vet tech so I take dog training seriously. He’s referencing his drive for the ball and to keep it not aggression and the lie of lock jaw.

      @yexie well that's great except a American Staffordshire terrier is a real breed and American pitbull terrier is a made up breed. Mostly because the main "pit bulls" are the am staff, standard Staffordshire terrier, and the bull terrier.

      @logansilva8017 2 роки тому

      @@masjuggalo no that is not true the American pit bull terrier was registered with the ADBA around 1909 and there was no breed called American Staffordshire Terrier.
      Antel the AKC registered American pit bull terriers under the name American Staffordshire terrier in the 1930's.
      You can look up the first dog's that were registered with the AKC as American Staffordshire Terrier but they were American pit bull terriers.

      Needed to hear that affirmation. Mid 30s disabled w MS n just got a 16 week old aussiedoodle after my labradoodle bestie passed recently. Always had adult to senior dogs so puppy energy has been completely new challenges! I'm home 24/7 so training around the SC heat as a ginger has been a dedicated effort lmao. Just as he fell off the 6 foot table I caught him mid air despite my disability and everyone was shocked and impressed(including me)! I felt super proud. I have been beating myself up after rescues were so cruel about my ability to care for a dog wo meeting me, insisting on obnoxiously classist gatekeepering needs of 2 full acres+ for a rescue dog to be placed w an adoptee. In 2020 or 2021 idk many people who could provide that must real estate AND be dedicated enough to not have children and be able to give a wild doodle the care and support that's needed. I hope there's humans willing to join us w lesser agency to be considered in these spaces. Wo Finnigan I'd still be in my deep grief over Cooper who lived as a giant 120lb doodle mix that I cared for from 7-13years of age. Oh Zak! The patience and kind love you show every dog genuinely inspires me. My little lurcher Isla is a cheeky pup, even though she is 6 next week, she is still like a puppy! All the things I've taught her over the years have come from your wonderful videos, she is a bright girl just like little George, but she is vey reactive with other doggies after a nasty attack some years ago (which admittedly probably made me more nervous and protective too which doesn't help her!), but honestly watching your Reality Dog Training series is helping me so much, just to get some structure back again for Isla, and even in just a couple of weeks of me trying to follow your tips she is already much more attentive to me and managing to give some lovely sits when other dogs are walking by, which is huge for her! So thank you thank you thank you from the bottom of my heart, you're not only helping people learn how to train with kindness, but in this series you're also showing how incredible rescue doggies are :) xxx

He jumped my dad’s privacy fence today, and set off chasing every duck and day he could find in the neighborhood. He’s part vizsla and part pit, so his prey drive is crazy. I never allow him in public off leash, so this one-off gave me a lot of information. At least the cat won. It was doing better training my dog than I am. I LOVE WORKING WITH PITTIES! Thier kryptonite isn't usually to difficult to figure out. In fact the one I work with generally respond to most toys eagerly. I adopted a 6 yr old Korean Jindo dog earlier this year who doesnt respond to food, toys or me when she hyper focuses the way we see George do in this video. I would love to see Zac work with an older dog who maybe hasn't been previously conditioned by people to respond to food or toys. There are plenty of them in the shelters.

    I love you using the ball as currency. Some dogs just aren’t food motivated., but really perk up when a toy they love is introduced instead. Your video shows people to experiment and find a motivator their dog will work for.
    Tying the leash to you, and that particular harness too ❤️

    I don't even have a dog but I love these videos and Zak's channel in general. It's so amazing to see how smart dogs are and the bonds they can form between humans is heart warming. I find myself smiling through the entire videos (unless something bad happens, of course!). I really admire the work you guys do with these dogs and hope that I can someday get a dog myself and put this into practice.

    George is like my Staffy Spike (7years old now), with treats the "let go" and "drop it" command were quickly learned when I got him. It is the beauty of having a dog that listens to you without being broken. My dog is listening to me and I can trust him, but still I love the fact that he still has his stubborn personality. One example, our routine is shops first then park then home. In this order no props. If we go shops ( the ones where he can come in with me inside ) then home because something came up and we have to go later to the park. A diva is born I will have to tell him several times or even put him on a leash before he makes a run for the neighbors gardens.

    I heart George! Thank you for featuring a pitbull type dog in your series. Your videos are transforming me as a dog owner. I am training my second pitmix rescue and it helps to see theses beautiful dogs highlighted. Such fantastic family pets. These amazing dogs are easy to find as the shelters are full of them. BTW, I would throw down cash money to see an episode of "where are they now" where you visit and tighten up any loose training.

    I totally get this experience. I have an Am Staff mix who's a little over a year and we've been working on his bird impulse control. He's super strong and me being a petite 100ish pound woman trying to keep a 80 pound dog controlled and focused and not lunging after birds is super fun. We continue our journey 😉. Keep the faith Zak. George is worth it ❤️

    Oh my goodness! I actually laughed out loud, their you are driving in the car explaining about training early due to the weather and I'm nodding in agreement, I do that check, then you explain about George's moment regarding birds in the previous episode and again I'm nodding in agreement, yup I saw that, then you say "here we are at a bird sanctuary" nope didn't see that one coming. For a split second I imagined both of you in the lake, feathers and birds everywhere, I laughed so hard my tea came down my nose. Seriously though excellent session, love how inventive and honest you are. Any dog will chase a squirrel, but dogs like George will be vilified for it. Keep up the good work 👏💕

      I trained my boy with the term 'give to dad', and MOST of the time it works. He's a bit fixated, like George, on a ball. We go to the park, the beach, he steals any ball in sight. Just wants the other dogs to play with him. He's three and a half. We adopted each other about 20 months ago. He was surrendered to our local no kill, Council Animal Shelter, here were we live in Australia. I love my boy, he's a sweetheart, a real softie.

    • @LRmama2019

      @@kellyswoodyard aren’t they THE BEST?! I’ve had my girl for about 8 months. She we encounter something in the wild that is high value getting her to drop it is almost always a losing battle, but she does really well when we’re training it inside. When I got her she had never been taught not to play bite or mouth people. Training play biting out of 50 lb one year old pitbull was painful and not fun but it only took about 6 weeks and and it was worth it. She is the sweetest girl. When you get a rescue you’re promising to love them and set them up for success. I love that this channel is starting to show that’s it’s not easy, but it’s worth it.

    I really love how you show the good and not so good training sessions. At the very end, the insta story video, it is very interesting to see you put in that time to not let him win the ball, no matter how long you have to try and get it out of his mouth, and I really didn't compute that you would give it back to him so quickly, but I understand why and I'm making a mental note to myself of how to prevent possessivity when I get my puppy (end of this year, begginning of next year, I have been saving up and planning to rent another place that my current flat, a place with with a small garden) !
