I watched your video about 10 times and it gives me so much hope. I got my walking boot 3 days after surgery. I do take it of daily for an hour to move my ancle. In 12 days they I will have another small surgery and then I can finally Start walking without the boot 🥰
Thank you for sharing your recovery 🙏🏼

The most helpful video for those of us with broken ankles! It’s now end of April and I broke my ankle in early March. I’m out of the cast and starting to do exercises and take tiny steps with crutches and boot. The pain is unreal and the emotional, mental part of having to pause so many aspects of my life has been hard. Such a long journey. Sigh. But could be worse and I’ve been touched by how my loved ones have rallied to help me.

The good experience for sharing. I'm an vietnamese old man, I broke my ankle and tybia fracture, after I watched your video give me a big hope to back in the normal life. This is a critical time of life. 6 months for total to fully recovery take for a long time, but you had fun in viet nam anyway.

I had an ankle fusion on June 6th. Today it's been 6 weeks post-op. I go for my second post-surgery meeting with my surgeon on July 22nd. They will do their second post-surgery x-rays at that time. My bones were fusing great on the first post-op x-rays back on June 22nd. so I'm expecting my Dr will tell me that I can start bearing a bit of weight. I'm actually kind of scared because in an "ankle fusion" there is always the chance if your bones have not completely fused and that the fusion will break. In that event, I'd be back to the beginning of the 10-week healing process. I don't think I could do it. The limited movement and exercise have been tortured both physically and mentally. My foot is still slightly sore, slightly swollen and purple. At least I see your ankle is also still purple at your weight-bearing stage. This is comforting to me. Thank you for this and your video.

Hi. Was your "upper breakage" into the leg? Im asking because I was told yesterday my fracture also has a dislocation and I feel pain up into my leg but my ortho was dismissive of my pain so I'm seeking a 2nd opinion as soon as my pcp gives me a new referral. Hope your recovery went well. Also, they are recommending surgery and told me the screws don't come out. Was it your decision to have them removed or protocol where you are? I'm in NYC. Hope u see this. Thnx

for people who are afraid of practising to walk slowly my advice is walk side to side while leaving your back on the wall let the wall be your cushion if you plan to fall thats my way of doing it and if you think you can walk straight after the practice on stepping then you can move on to the next one by moving forward the important thing is experience, experience on how you step with your foot when you walk side to side while your back is facing the wall thats all my advice for those who have ankle injury since thats what i do right now as i have fracture on both my bones on tibia and fibula without surgery and now it isnt much hurt as i do step it on land unlike back then where my foot freezes and i can only move my fingers its been over 3 weeks now i hope it helps

March 13th I was hit on my motorcycle open fractured tib/fib 2 fractures on my foot. Had the ex fixed brace took it off after my surgery which was April 3. I was given the boot but it weighs too much and makes my foot swollen faster. I prefer to walk with my tennis shoes and crutches over the boot. He didn't even give me a walking boot. I've been on crutches for half a year now and my ankle still hurts from time to time.

I know this was a while ago for you but I have a question. I had a trimalleolar fracture with dislocation in May of this yr. I'm up and walking in my street shoes after 12 weeks of braces, casts and aircast but have a hard time walking just right. Did this happen with you. Like did you forget how to walk? Now, because I'm not walking right I've put a strain on my inner knee on the bad leg and am back to using 1 crutch to take the pressure off the knee and to help me walk right. I think my issue is I haven't been extendidng my knee right because of my aircast teaching me bad habits for the last 6 weeks and plus fearfulness of hurting the ankle. The brain plays bad games on us. I know I need to trust the hardware. My PT didn't have me up and walking with crutches instead just said, start walking without your boot. That's when the knee pain set in. 🙄

      Did you go thru surgery?

    • @moonkitten5934

@@NghiaTran-sr1oe hi . No surgery was needed . It was a clean break on the fibula and the other two were hairline fractures. My ligaments and tendons were still in tact. I’ve been walking with my crutches but now I’m limping. I hope that’s normal until I regain my strength. I don’t wish this on anyone.

Trimalleolar fracture with dislocation. Each of my bones were shattered into small pieces at the fracture points. 2 plates and 12 screws. I had 6 weeks bedrest but I healed! Ecstatic to move into a boot for 2 months. However putting weight through my foot and trying to walk is hard. Not only do you have a heavy cumbersome boot but I find my foot very tender with a 'bruised' feeling. Walking is limited atm (5 days into boot) and I have to rely on a wheelchair a lot of the time due to pain. I find doing a task ( making a cup of tea, washing up) encourages me to stay on my foot longer. My Gp has told me not to push it and take my time but like all of us that have been in a cast for weeks the desire to get up and walk is strong!
Good luck with your recovery and take it easy.

You need to follow your PT advice. I'm 4 months out and my foot and ankle swells anytime I've walked. It's something you will need to grow used to for awhile. Ice and elevation should be your friend.

I had an accident while running my leg got pinned by a motorcycle behind me... it happened so fast, I realized I couldn’t put the foot on the ground cos it had completely twisted n my tibia protruding from the skin....X-ray said I fractured my distal fibula n dislocated my tibia... so it’s been 5 months now, I don’t feel pains from the fibula anymore but my tibia still looks like it’s protruding a bit, it doesn’t hurt much tho but I’ve been trying to walk with it... with crutches it seems very easy but without it’s almost impossible n I limp so much

Learning how to walk again is not easy. Today is my second day out of my cast, I cannot stand up on my own, so I have my boot on and I use my Walker. I go to PT next week and I just hope something happens because my doctor wants me walking without my Walker within the next two weeks and my boot has to come off in three.. I had Foot and Ankle surgery about 6 weeks ago but I have to take it one day at a time and not overdo it
