Thank you for the clarity . I was doing the wobble thing for short distances..and you are right about 100% there ..my ankle would start ballooning up and hurting . So I cast my ,"percieved brave girl all recovered and cast free " image aside and took to the walker again . It is very important to understand this fine difference, so thank you again .
This video is great. Thanks for posting. I was unsure how tp gauge 50% weigh ton my left foot. I broke my ankle on Christmas night 2017 and I went in a back slab cast for two weeks then in a fiberglass cast for 8 weeks all non weight bearing and no surgery thank god. I thought when the cast came off everything will just be peachy agian but no no no. I was only allowed to put 25% weight on my leg for about ten days and now im up to 50%. Im a bit scared to put additional weight on it because I have this fear that my ankle will just snap but my physiotherapist assured me that will not happen.
I just started weight bearing on September 15th of this week, after 6 weeks of no weight. I am excited but i was so nervous. Unfortunately, my foot won’t relax on the floor, I’m doing physical therapy and exercises to loosen it up.
@@brittneyjake2010 hey! Trying to remember all I did. I did the leg presses on the leg press machine, the bike machine(pedaling), steps back and forth on the steps in the PT office. I also did a ton of leg stretches sitting and standing down. I also had to stand on one leg( rotating back and forth) I believe there are more But I don’t remember. I still have do those exercises exercises to including walking, squats and lunges( which after PT didn’t feel comfortable but it’s better now because I’ve loosened up a lot). It’s a work in progress. Keep working out and take it easy. I still have pain every now and then but not as often anymore.
@@rosemondchurchill Thanks so much, that information will do justice. I broke my ankle(tibia and fubula Dec 31, 2021. Start PT tomorrow and Just still wana do exercises at home..it does feel weird that my foot stuck at a 45° angle and wont touch floor. Praying this cease fast
@@brittneyjake2010 this exactly this is what has happened to me. I had a leg operation 4 days ago to add a rod in my leg but am still afraid to walk. I think it hurts also cause I have lost a huge portions of my skin from knee to the ankle? Btw are you able to walk now?
@@kausar9881 yes I'm able to walk again..so happy. It just takes time...time heals...physical therapy and stretching at home will help. Btw I'm walking with a limp for now but this won't last forever...Good luck. Do Abc's with your foot that will loosen it up
I had clubfoot (TEV) and underwent wedge osteotomy (In the tarsal joint) + achilis tendon lengthening, 3.5 months ago. Now the cast has been removed and the dr has allowed me to walk. I want to ask what percentage of my body weight can i put on my corrected foot now? And for how long?
Hello, Usman. Thank you for your inquiry. We recommend speaking with a representative in our office regarding your question. Please contact us at (828) 258-8800, and someone would be happy to assist you. Thank you.
Sir my femur broken and tibia on external fixation so now I'm doing physiotherapy but pain I on my mussels very much so sir now what I do for pain relief
the frame is so much easier than crutches, I've just bag cast removed on leg for broken finals and tubular, I chose not to have surgery, I am now in Velcro cast so can now start bending my knee and been told I can do 50% pwb
My dr told me recently that my crutches are now optional, BUT said I can only have about 40% weight on my foot. I'm like, what?!?!? How can I take a step but not have 100% of my weight on that foot when the other foot is off the floor???? My husband thinks I'm dumb as a result...but I just don't understand it. Thank you for the explanation here that 50% still needs support and that without the crutches it's 100% half the time. Edited to add, as of the date I wrote this, I'm about 1 month post-op from surgery for Haglund's Deformity and Achilles tendon repair (severing it, removing part of it to get rid of some calcifications in it from a broken spur, then removing the spur and deformity). After watching your videos on 25% and this one for 50%, I realize I've been doing it wrong and have been putting too much weight on that foot. No wonder it's been hurting so much more than I thought it should be! I'll have to ease up. Thanks!
Hi had a leg fracture in july and now its December and im finally cleared for full weight bearing and its hard im using a walker , do u have any tips to help me walk without a walker.
Thanks for this. Broke my ankle in a bicycle accident and am finally on the road to recovery.

My question us how do you know what 50% is? Is it too much? If you start hurting, what do you do? Lots of questions
