Regarding the herbs, they probably picked the herbs the morning of the day they serve the foods. That is why you can tell that the essential oils still exist in the herbs over there. As for in the US, the herbs were pick several days before or even weeks. And these herbs lost most of their essential oils once it is store in the fridge over night.

I'm Thai. I completely agree that foreigners are more suitable for Vietnam than Thailand. Now the cost of living is more expensive, especially in Bangkok because there are too many tourists, making life difficult for Thais.

Honestly for Thai, they did good for their country, at least in 20tr at ago in Southeast ASIA, Thaj did great 👍
Thailand becomes one of most famous & ICONIC when people (foreign & Westerners) talk about SOUTHEAST ASIA!!
      You should proud about this.
      But, anything have bad side!!
With more tourist & open borders, mindset & lifestyle is changing!!
Alots of gay, transgender & start brainwashed younger kids & teenage
IM NOT RACIST & NOT HATEFUL TRANSGENDER & GAY!! But they should not become that popular & act to brainwashed kids/teenage to make them confused & alots of of teenage think it’s a trending to be gay, want cutting their body changing themselves to girl or become a guys!!
Second, to get more attention & tourists, THAI IS SO EASY ABOUT SEX TOURISTS & LET ALOTS OF DRUGGIES THUGS, CRIMINALS SNEAK INSIDE THEIR COUNTRY!!
With no strict laws, alots FORIGNERS act like theyre king & queen in this lands!!
They’re loudly & racist look down locals people!!
They’re travel & living in THAILAND - ASIAN COUNTRIES BUT LOOK DOWN & RACIST TOWARDS TO ASIAN!! How ridiculous??
      Alots of trouble & crimes!!
It’s affecting tradional cultures & even affect good & well class tourism!!
Now, Thailand take alots of bad tourists, they’re lying nake on beach & spend fews dollar to buy 2 beer, they’re can lying on beach & public places just like the way they did back in their country!!
      Drunken & attack locals people!!
It’s all because of cheap tourists & less strict laws!!

I've travelled and lived in Vietnam since 2009 but I would personally not agree with you. The cost of living is actually not more expensive in BKK than Ho Chi Minh City. You can for example rent much more affordable housing in BKK. Also many foods are of similar price if not cheaper than HCMC and usually of higher quality. Japanese food is more affordable in HCMC though.
yes there are abundantly more tourists in BKK than Vietnam but it doesn't really bother me when I'm in Thailand since the infrastructure is good and many other things runs smoother than HCMC. It's all subjective but I'd chose BKK any day over HCMC in almost any regard.

The food portion in Vietnam is smaller than of the US but it’s more authentic and flavorful. You can always 2x your order. Ive lived in Cali for 4 yrs I’d say majority of the pho and other Vietnamese dishes in Cali cannot compare to Vietnam. The main reason is they cut costs by reducing vital ingredients or lack there of. My personal opinion the food in Hanoi is way better than in HCM city

I go out to experience and watch street videos in Vietnam, observing as follow:
Most of the Indian and Black African guys (over 90/100) are either alone or in male groups, never with Vietnamese girls.
The remaining 10/100 are mostly paired with girls from their own country.
Aside from Vietnamese-Vietnamese couples, Vietnamese girls often go out alone or in all-female groups, but these men (the foreign ones) are not considered high enough in status to approach or start a conversation with them.
=> This proves one thing: Vietnamese girls are among the most beautiful in Southeast Asia, so they have high standards when choosing men. Most of them prioritize men in the following order: Vietnamese men -> East Asian men -> White Western men -> Indian and Black African men.

I love Vietnamese food in the US and in Thailand. Unfortunately, I didn't find a good one when I visited VN. I tried to search outside the touristy areas and recommended by the locals. But it's still not as good as I expected. Well, I'm sure there must be a really good one, but I may have to stay longer to find it.
Pros about VN. 1. I find the people and especially the girls are as nice as in bkk.
    2. Coffee. Hands down the best in SEA.
    3. Developing infrastructure is Western style and more organized than Thailand, which is way too congested in every big city of Thailand.
Cons, 1. I saw a truck load full of dogs in Danang, and it really shocked me😢
    2. Tourist towns are either chinese lookalike or French look alike. VN doesn’t have its own unique style in architecture and culture like Thailand.
    3. Thailand beats VN any day in terms of street food scenes. The varieties are endless. Not all Thai food is spicy. Thai people can adapt the food from around the world and make it their own and taste good. You can even try Vietnamese food in Thailand as well. They are so clean and delicious.

@aprilerbe5919 Each country has its own unique traditions. VN is different from China in many ways, of course, especially the food, and Vietnamese people are more welcoming and polite. VN is a country that's blended in Chinese and Indochine together. But the architecture and temples are not the reason for tourists to return every year. I don't think people return to Thailand because of the temples. It's the lifestyle that they love or can't afford it in their home countries.

Thailand feels safer and more freedom of expression. They can protest freely against their government. Vietnam you can’t speak out against the government and they have the death penalty. Thai culture is beautiful and the entertainment sector is developed and is well known and popular in neighboring countries. There’s a lot of cultural sites and their grand palace and ancient cities are unique with its beauty. Vietnam isn’t very well known for that stuff. Like name a famous temple in Vietnam visited by millions a year? None. Like in HCMC I can’t even think of an iconic building that’s pure Vietnamese I’m culture. Thailand also has top notch beaches that’s featured in movies. Etc etc I can go on. Vietnam has great food and pretty girls but that’s about it. Reason why return rate is low there and high in Thailand. Even presentation in Thai American restaurants is pretty while Vietnam looks like a Chinese restaurant, does not stand out . Sorry just speaking from experience

For the south, to change the ancestral name of a city and replace it with a leader from the north (who killed many of their south brethren), there are still wounds that hurt. Immigrants/ 1st gen in the US, AUS, Europe (who are mostly from south) will always call it Saigon bcos it's part of their southern identity/ motherland.
The young ones born in VN (after 1975: fall of Saigon/ reunification) may call it HCMC bcos it's part of their schooling/ indoctrination.

@jimwoo9552 Of course, among NON- East Asian guys & NON- Southeast Asian guys, white Western men are the most attractive to East Asian and Southeast Asian women. There is no doubt about this fact.
However, let's analyze some notable points as follows:
In the Southeast Asian region, there are clear reasons why white Western men come to the Philippines and even Thailand the most to seek out and interact with local women:
Philippines: This is the country with the strongest influence of Western culture in Southeast Asia, and also the country with the most mixed Western blood in the region.
Thailand: White Western men can still attract dark-skinned Thai girls here, although it is much more difficult for them to attract fair-skinned Thai girls.
      Other countries:
Vietnam: The most beautiful and fairest-skinned women in the region, so naturally, they have the highest standards for choosing men in the region (most women here prefer local men and East Asian men).
Cambodia: Still poor, though increasingly attracting white Western men.
Laos: There is little influence due to its large area, sparse population, and lack of coastline.
Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei: These countries are Muslim with very closed-off cultural lifestyles, and women do not have much freedom to display their beauty.
Singapore: Too upscale for average or lower-level white Western men to reach (just like in East Asian countries).
Myanmar: A large country with a large population, but ongoing wars and violence make it unsafe.
Timor-Leste: Too small, with too little influence.
