Do you see the irony in promoting people to come here from the West, only for it to eventually turn into the very place you fled? You might say, 'Oh, but that will take a long time,' yet I’ve witnessed drastic changes in just the past two years. Don’t be short-sighted and risk destroying this place for your own benefit, man.

Great video,Travis. I enjoyed the interview with your guest. He has that positive outlook mindset which a person needs when traveling to other countries and experiencing different cultures. I have been to Thailand twice, just left Cambodia after being there for a month. I am now in Vietnam for the first time and truly enjoying the country. Wishing your guest all the best in his plans on living in Vietnam. Keep up your great work in creating informative travel videos on Vietnam.
Vietnam 🇻🇳 economy is on the rise. They just got a big investment of Nvidia ( AI sector ). This is an American company. They will open a research center and a production line. The future is Vietnam.
A decade in Asia I mix it up as one gets tired of countries: Mainland China great for money, Thailand good for shopping, Cambodia easy visas, Vietnam great food. One doesn't have to be stuck somewhere. I'm 60 and fit so I don't think I will 'settle' for a long time yet. Just do a place for a bit and then when something annoys you change, riinse, repeat. Even now people ask me where I live like I'm married to a place. Weird mindset in a world that is on digital rails and nation states disappearing as the future is changing fast.
I like this mindset and this is something I've been thinking about for a long time. I've been in china 15 years, I love it, but I wanna live other places too.
I've been in an inner battle between long-term in the Philippines or Thailand. Wherever I decide, I want to integrate as best as possible so it's a big commitment. I lived in Istanbul and took the time to do that there and it makes so much of a difference than just keeping a visitor mindset. And as I've been planning some photography locations all over Asia, I keep feeling this gravitational pull to Vietnam for long-term living. My biggest draw to the region is the kindness and collectivism in the cultures. After that, I'm trying to balance cost, ease of international travel, city size, natural features, climate, infrastructure, cultural preservation, expat community... No wonder I'm getting drawn to Vietnam!
yes its 100% a must to learn the local language up to never needing to switch to englsh. you will get treated way better or scammed less. and see things as getting your info from lcoals in there language not some expat that things he knows. i always asked the local for any advise and always got the best answer. also in thailand for sure if they think you are a tourist they will never tell you the cold hard truth it was shocking how many times ie thais some even strangers told me to stop talking to some expat friend i had they incredibly insecure that i might be telling them the side of thailand thais dont want you to know. all thais only want toursts to beleilve the bs thailand land of smiles when in reality its thailnad land of people wearing masks as playing a game of poker so never show your true intention and only speak what you think said cllueless wonder expat/tourist would want to listen to
Even to Vietnamese, Da Nang is also known to be a new progressive city with order, less chaos. It’s so interesting to see foreigners flocking to the city recently. Great video as always And I think you should talk more about the traffic in Vietnam as I realised some foreigners miss understand our traffic culture and it can be dangerous
we just returned from a 4 week trip north to south of Vietnam. We were in Da Nang, we stayed on Pham van dong. and found $1 grab to beach or $2 to city was great being between beach and city. You need to get used to the humidity, but food (out of tourist zones) was cheap. We loved it (apart from getting pickpocketed on Dragon Bridge). We could get used to it , but the more that people talk about Vietnam for foreigners, the more the prices are going up. I would move there once we can organise our lives in Australia, but im probably more of a Hà Nội person. People are warm and welcoming all over, and even more open once you learn a little Tieng Viet ! So at least try to learn phrases (not an easy tonal language) to get you by and your experience of Vietnam increases ten fold.
Danang and Hoi An was not only enjoyable but so very affordable. For a 5d4n trip, I spent only 3 million VND for hotels/homestays, transport and meals plus I bought 3 small lanterns and some overpriced magnets from Hoi An!
Yo Jack and Travis!!! 🥰It was fun to have met up with Jack! Travis, we must meet when I am there again! Also give me a heads up if you are coming here in KL!
I plan on visiting both countries and I love Vietnamese food. I’ve been to Thailand and very much enjoyed my visit. I did a 1400 mile motorcycle tour starting and finishing in Chiang Mai, Thailand. We went through the northern Thailand into the mountains of Laos, it was basically a large circle.
Great channel, great info, and thanks for the videos. The travel group is worth joining 💯. Aside from a few more years of visiting, retirement is coming soon and I’m convinced Vietnam will be the the place for me
Great interview. I spent mid-August to mid-November this year in Da Nang. I followed a similar process for getting settled. I loved my neighborhood in Khuê Mỹ, and the many family breakfast spots. I walked a lot in the heat of the late summer and dropped a few needed pounds. Then I rented a scooter just as the temperatures dropped and stopped walking, but more of the city was opened up to me. I have been back in the States for 2 1/2 weeks and mentally I am ready to return. This video has spurred me to download more pdfs on learning vietnamese, although I many google translate conversions with the people I met. I wish you both luck. And I hope to see you riding around town on your bike soon. BYT, think about getting a scooter once the heat returns. Signed, Happy Irish Buddha.
Well that's decided then! Been planning a six-month practice run at being a semi-retired digital nomad in Thailand, but thought I should look into Vietnam. Yours was the first video I came across; the two of you have sold me!
I've spent the last few years thinking about which country to move to, and it's now narrowed down to two: Thailand and Vietnam. I've visited Thailand and Vietnam twice this year, and I'm leaning towards Thailand for system and convenience reasons, but Vietnam is still very appealing. The cost of living is unbelievably cheap, there are plenty of options for expats, and the mix with the local culture is just right. To summarise, Vietnam has the edge for a short stay and Thailand for a long stay. I still need more first-hand information and lots of trial and error, but I wanted to share my experiences so far.
Mate thank you for this content i feel it really gives anyone wanting or even considering the move alot more easy because of the info and things they see on your channel so big thanks keep it up!

I am a western European. Have lived in different European countries and in China. Been several times to Thailand. Currently living in Norway. Life here (by "here" I mean Norway and the rest of Europe) is so sad and depressive than I am planning to move to Thailand or Laos... Europe is dead, from north to south, from west to east. Amen.
I'm American. Been feeling the same way. But also like I am living in a cartoon or a bad trip. Finally leaving again and integrating into Asian culture.
Weve been to both several times. They are both good. Hotels are cheaper in Vietnam. Dont miss out on Phú Quốc. Domestic flights are just crazy cheap. cross the country for 60 bucks on average or less. Grab works amazing there now. Cant go wrong with either. Remember cheap hotels not the expensive ones Weve had amazing for 20 bucks.
Hello Travis, I found your video by accident and I’m glad that I did. New fan, sub and share! I’m a Vietnamese American currently living in Southern California. I’ve been here since 1998 and in the south triangle Arkansas Oklahoma and Texas since 1975. I have many American friends were served in the US military. I would love to introduce Vietnam to them especially Da Nang which I wanted to retire there someday soon. Most of them are at my age and little older (66) heard a lot about the war and the bad experiences through others. Things are changed now and wish that they just give it a chance. Can you make a video with any vets from America that currently living in Vietnam and ask them to see how safe, how cheap and how fun it’s to living there please? Thank you in advance, Dino

Just opened 3 months ago, 23 prior restaurants in the US so no bull! 🤣👍🏻🍔. I think you will enjoy the vibe as well. Riverside in a neighborhood. Not a beach bar, and not in Old Town. PS I’m also not leaving. Heaven, I’m here!

I like both countries, Thailand and Vietnam, both countries are located in Southeast Asia and have the same tropical climate, and in terms of geography they are neighbours. You only need to fly from Thailand to Vietnam for 1 hour.
I've been going to Thailand since i was 25 im now 55, now Thailand is so westernized its lost its way, now i jump on you tube and theres 12 people vlogging about Da Nang, i guaranteed within 5 years it won't be the same it will be westernized then these fly by night vloggers move onto the next best thing ,so sad to see for the locals.
Its so westernized but some foreigners still complain that they can’t get some western food easily or it’s too expensive like cheese or they complain that Thais can’t speak English (they went to local/non tourist area)

Must have been an odd 6 years in Thailand. My experience in Thailand completely different. I found Thai people very open and the Vietnamese a little harder to break the surface. Both fabulous places but very different. I did love my stay in Danang and plan to visit many times. Also I live in Chiang Mai so it's got that small city feel like Danang but different vibes.
Everyone will have different experiences. I agree completely a little harder to connect with Vietnamese past the initial smile. I've been to Chiang Mai a handful of times. Also a great town
Hah! This is Jack. Not really. At least not like most who wear it. Keeps time. Easy to change time and date via the satellites. Rugged and solar charging.
do not compare please. each country has its own culture / vibe /life style . stay where ever suits your life style and do not put bad comment on country you just quit!😮😮😮😮
Great interview for Travelers. Not for people who want to live and retire. Thailand you can set-up for 80-90 grand. Bought a beautiful condo with pool 5 minutes walk to the beach. Truck couple motorcycles and bicycles. I'm addicted to muay thai. I have gyms in Pattaya and Bangkok.. Started a charity 12 years ago in Buriram. Drive up once per month and check in. Bring supplies. Freeways are great.. Medical in Pattaya and Bangkok is some of the best. DaNang if ya want to be a tourist. Pattaya or Hua hin if you want to retire and live. Free Market society or Communism.. The choice is Clear.
Healthcare is very high quality and cheap in Vietnam as well. I've talked about Healthcare a little in another video. I'll do a deep dive at some point
@@kingsdaughter777 couldn't agree more to preventing need for healthcare, daily exercise, weight training, appropriate diet is way better than having many healthcare facilities near a senior!
Correction, Vietnam was open to foreign tourists in 1986, not 1998. Its just that American's mostly started arriving later because of the Vietnam war negativity.
Been here since mid - October. First few weeks I just bopped around, enjoyed the beach and explored. Having some structure and a regimen of some kind is a good idea if you’re going to be here long - term. I met a great group of locals in the table tennis community. This city is incredible and so multi-dimensional. Travis - thanks for the MASA coffee recommendation - the avocado coffee is sublime. 👌
Still the best avocado coffee I've found. I've moved to a different area so I don't get to MASA much these days, but I still buy my coffee beans from there for making it at home.
You got the dude in black on the high side of hypomania shilling out for living an entire life in Vietnam 🇻🇳 Man’s been there 6 weeks and is telling the world (with Authority) that he is going to live there 60 years!!! 😂
Another great video Travis , would you know any thing about prescription glasses , they are so expensive in Canada , should I wait and get them in Da Nang when I come in March ?
After 6 weeks? You decide this is best holy smokes Batman! Maybe so & good for you dude. Me, well I’m a Chiang rai Mai, Phuket, Bangkok chit lom, pratumnak and Dark Side of Pattaya, and up the Mekong river to Khmer temples, food, people, entertainment, and towns, isan 😅 like VN love TH
Im just going to put it out there. The major difference between Thailand and my home country is or shall i say are the lady boys. If you're in to the lady boys, thailand is your spot. Vietnam will not, will never compete in that department
I have been to Danang a few times this year averaging 2 weeks to a month. I surf so its fun at times for that but the noise, constant car hooting, traffic, less walkable streets, life guards not allowing you to swim anywhere besides designated areas even when flat with no rip currents, less variety of food, makes places like Chiang Mai more appealing to me. Ill caveat that I still liked Danang and will return during surf seasons but long term wasnt for me and everyone is different - so just my opinion.
What airline you use for boarder run? I checked out reviews on VietJetAir Danang-Bangkok, and is terrible? theres no other options from Bangkok than VietJetAir?
There is no long term visa option for Vietnam. You literally can't retire there without the risk of being kicked out of the country. If they had a retirement visa it might be a great choice. Until then, I just don't see how it is worth the risk...
I was good to go on a one-month visit to Vietnam last October (2024), but called in off because I thought Ukraine would go nuclear and all commercial flights would be grounded. Hoi An, Nha Trang were places I identified. As a throwaway line, a weekend at a top London hotel would would cost the same as a month in the equivalent hotel in Ho Chi Minh City. Jack, the Japan Alps Brit
The corruption in Vietnam is worth noting. I don't think I ever had a mototaxi there that didn't flip out and demand 3 times the original agreement. Also they charged my $170 to enter the country, some BS about my approved VIsa passport being off by one number compared to the real thing. Once I got out to the beach things calmed but sometimes they treat Westerners like ATM machines.
I would say corruption can be found everywhere. Fortunately I’ve been lucky to not experience any shakedowns in any of the SE Asian countries I have visited/lived in.
6 weeks honeymoon 😂. Nice place to visit- Vietnam. Thailand I prefer for many reasons. The worst in Vietnam is the continuous horn honking- can’t wait to get out of there after couple weeks. Both great places but Thailand I feel more relaxed. When I retire- Thai wife- we both agree 3 months max stay- we can hop an easy flight to any of these countries. We love our home and 4 seasons( I also do outdoor sports ) in the foothills of Northern California.
Vietnam will gain a lot of interest as Thailand is looking at taxing every individual staying more than 180 days on their world wide income. Such a shame
Join my travel group, I'll help you find exactly what you want. Very cheap here I'm not sure where you are seeing those prices. www.skool.com/travel-vietnam/about
Yes Nha Trang has a smaller expat community. A little less to do. Probably even more relaxed than Da Nang. Still a great town, just have to check out both and see where you fit in.
If you settle in nha trang and words get around it'll be another da nang in no time because of it's similarity. I believe the Russians have nha trang on lock. Russians love that city. The way i look at it is, vietnam is moving forward so Westernization will follow. My coastal city hood will not be impacted. Thinking about it makes me miss it. Canada is freaking 🥶❄️🥶
A few weeks in Da Nang? 😅. I've been living here on and off for 3 months (currently here). And I've lived in Thailand for almost three years. I ride a bike - which this guy doesn't 😂 Thai people are head and shoulders friendlier than Vietnamese. Customer Service is lacking here. The way they drive is crazy here. It's bad in Thailand but here is another level. I would say the affordability is better in Vietnam. Hands down more affordable. But both countries are compared to the west. Food - personally for me there's only so much Bahn Mi, Pho and Salt coffees you can have. But Thai food I could eat forever! I think you need to interview someone who's been there longer than a week 😂
What a narrow-minded thing to say! Grandpa has lived in Thailand for three years and is accustomed to life there, yet he compares it to Vietnam after just three months. So, what on earth made Grandpa leave Thailand to come to Vietnam for three months in the first place?
@ grandpa? Am I that old? 😩 Honest answer - Vietnam is cheap and I wanted a change in scenery, it’s not that I don’t like Vietnam or the people. I do! It’s a lovely place. But I prefer Thailand. Just like one can prefer Apples to Oranges but still like both 😂🙏🏾
@TravisTravelsVN sarcastic...I was already aware they don't have a program. Just that you guest has to decided to retire there even though they have no such visa..wonder if that is wise.
@@SteveJustice-i6u Right. You can't retire there, as in, quote: "The rest of my life".. Not realistic, or even possible as of now. Sooner or later he will not get his tourist visa granted. Too many. I don't understand why they even compare to Thailand.
Pfff your interviewing someone who’s been there 6 weeks, what a joke, of course he loves vietnam he’s still in his home room phase, try interviewing someone who’s been there 15 years they will give a more nuanced perspective.
This is Jack. I am on a 90 day visa, as is Travis. He does a border run every 90 days. I have to be in the USA every 4th month so that essentially is my border run. At some point I hope to get some sort of long term visa.
As I thought, did border runs in Thailand for many years. The concern is Vietnam has no retirement visa at present. Switched to retirement visa in Thailand which agents do for many for a simple fee. They arrange and provide the required deposit if one wishes. Thousands do this in Thailand…
Visa approved. Coming in a few days. I also like to bike. I'm not bringing my road bike from home. Is there a place to rent a decent road bike there? Maybe Trek or Specialized?
Depends where you are at. For me in DN, a round trip flight to BKK is about $120 USD, plus $85 for visa + express service fee to return the same day. Bus to Laos slightly cheaper but takes a lot longer. Join the travel group if you need help. I can connect you with the cheapest visa agent and help you come up with a plan. www.skool.com/travel-vietnam/about
Gyms in general are the one thing in Vietnam that can be more expensive than in America. I got to the nicest gym in town for about 30/mo with long term contract.
A nice gym cost about $150-300 for 1 year membership in Saigon . You should negotiate the pirce with your sale. Usually they can give you 20-50% discount.
Why did you not talk about that there is not a retirement visa and that you can only stay for 3 months and then do a visa run. I think that is a VERY important thing to mention and REALLY point this out. I live in Cambodia because I get a one year multiple visa. All people watching this video must know that you CANNOT get a long term visa in Vietnam. Why did you leave out the most important piece of living in Vietnam? Folks, you have to do a visa run every 90 day's. You DO NOT live there. I look forward to your reply on this critical issue.

Vietnam 🇻🇳 economy is on the rise. They just got a big investment of Nvidia ( AI sector ). This is an American company. They will open a research center and a production line.
The future is Vietnam.
Great point. Vietnam doing a lot of things that will help development in the long term
Nooooo! Please don't bring America to Vietnam!
@@kingsdaughter777 you can always boycott American technology by not using electricity, internet etc
The best answer I’ve seen so far!
No wonder I'm getting drawn to Vietnam!
yes its 100% a must to learn the local language up to never needing to switch to englsh. you will get treated way better or scammed less. and see things as getting your info from lcoals in there language not some expat that things he knows. i always asked the local for any advise and always got the best answer. also in thailand for sure if they think you are a tourist they will never tell you the cold hard truth
it was shocking how many times ie thais some even strangers told me to stop talking to some expat friend i had they incredibly insecure that i might be telling them the side of thailand thais dont want you to know. all thais only want toursts to beleilve the bs thailand land of smiles
when in reality its thailnad land of people wearing masks as playing a game of poker so never show your true intention and only speak what you think said cllueless wonder expat/tourist would want to listen to
I can only speak to the local people I’ve met in Da Nang… and they are some of the friendliest people I have ever met.
Impressed with your Vietnamese pronunciation and accent, Travis. :)
Thanks I appreciate that, still a work in progress
Great video. I enjoyed the change in your normal content. It was great to hear the interview in such a casual manner. Keep producing great content.
Hey I really appreciate this message. Everyone tells you to stick to a certain style/subject to grow faster on UA-cam. I like to mix it up.
@ variety is the spice of life.
Even to Vietnamese, Da Nang is also known to be a new progressive city with order, less chaos. It’s so interesting to see foreigners flocking to the city recently.
Great video as always
And I think you should talk more about the traffic in Vietnam as I realised some foreigners miss understand our traffic culture and it can be dangerous
we just returned from a 4 week trip north to south of Vietnam.
Great points, thanks for sharing
Danang and Hoi An was not only enjoyable but so very affordable. For a 5d4n trip, I spent only 3 million VND for hotels/homestays, transport and meals plus I bought 3 small lanterns and some overpriced magnets from Hoi An!
Yo Jack and Travis!!! 🥰It was fun to have met up with Jack! Travis, we must meet when I am there again! Also give me a heads up if you are coming here in KL!
Great interview, Jack. I hope you enjoy Vietnam to its fullest.
Love Your chat with Jack. Best wishes and hope Jack continue to love VN❤

Congratulations 🎉🎊Stay healthy and most importantly is the joy each day that you wake up.
Well said
Mate thank you for this content i feel it really gives anyone wanting or even considering the move alot more easy because of the info and things they see on your channel so big thanks keep it up!

I Think anywhere in the world has both sides. We choice place make us feel happy. My beloved country Viet Nam, welcome to Viet Năm,A beautiful country, friendly, various culture and the best foods street in the world.
Great guy with a real good outlook on life. Enjoyed this!
Appreciate the message Benson. I agree, Jack has a great attitude. Really glad I met him here.
You sir are an excellent judge in character. First beer is on me if you’re ever in Da Nang. 🍻
Finally leaving again and integrating into Asian culture.
depressing 😞
Weve been to both several times. They are both good. Hotels are cheaper in Vietnam. Dont miss out on Phú Quốc. Domestic flights are just crazy cheap. cross the country for 60 bucks on average or less. Grab works amazing there now. Cant go wrong with either. Remember cheap hotels not the expensive ones Weve had amazing for 20 bucks.
I agree Scotty, both pretty awesome places.
Great content, love the interview and addition of another voice on your channel. Open invite to eat still stands. Welcome to Da Nang, Jack!
You both have very solid plans...enjoy!
It's a great idea Dino. If I ever meet any vets here I would love to ask about that.
G'day Travis,
Another excellent well educated smile on my face , put my belief in Da Nang Video.
Stuck in peak hour traffic this video took me away to a better place
Da Nang.

Next time in HoiAn, check out the Opal Moon Jack. Better yet, come on Monday night and experience THE BEST burger in Vietnam!
It's nice to see a foreigner enjoying the Vietnamese lifestyle and also giving back to the community by volunteering at an orphanage❤ That is exactly what I plan to do when I retire.. Hopefully soon .. :) I am new to your channel Travis. Great contents!.. I am a Vietnamese-borned Canadian.. I try to visit Vietnam at least once every year or two. But I may not have as much experience of travelling as you guys. I have never tried rats or silkworms.. :) I know people do but I don't think i can... :) I dare you guys try live coconut larvae with fish sauce.. :) Talk about fear factor :)
I like both countries, Thailand and Vietnam, both countries are located in Southeast Asia and have the same tropical climate, and in terms of geography they are neighbours. You only need to fly from Thailand to Vietnam for 1 hour.
Another great and helpful video
Thanks, really appreciate the message.
Great discussion, learned a lot.

Vietnam is amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you for the presentation. This helped me answer a lot of questions. I didn’t even know I had very nice.
Really glad it was helpful
Cant wait to go to Thailand, Vietnam and Bali
Jack is seriously into fitness because he's wearing a Garmin👏💪
No bad comments about either country. I think both us agree both are great places. Just sharing some observations, pros/cons of each. 🙂👍
Medical in Pattaya and Bangkok
is some of the best. DaNang if ya want to be a tourist. Pattaya or Hua hin if you want to retire and live.
Free Market society or Communism.. The choice is Clear.
BTW... Just joined the group👍
Thanks Cory and Laura, happy to have you!
Private Healthcare in thailand is the best in Asia. In your old age, this is a priority and they didn’t mention this at all here.
Healthcare is very high quality and cheap in Vietnam as well. I've talked about Healthcare a little in another video. I'll do a deep dive at some point
Fortunately I have not needed medical, but dental care is on par with Thailand. Great care. Very affordable price.
In my 60's, preventing the need for a lot of healthcare is my priority. Lifestyle is where this happens. It's there if you need it.
cheaper in Vietnam and its great!
@@kingsdaughter777 couldn't agree more to preventing need for healthcare, daily exercise, weight training, appropriate diet is way better than having many healthcare facilities near a senior!
Nice one Trav, great topic to discuss. keep em comin mate.
Thanks, will do!
A map on the table where are you have pointed out the def-Friend things What your speaking about have been very Nice
You got the dude in black on the high side of hypomania shilling out for living an entire life in Vietnam 🇻🇳
Man’s been there 6 weeks and is telling the world (with Authority) that he is going to live there 60 years!!! 😂
Another great video Travis , would you know any thing about prescription glasses , they are so expensive in Canada , should I wait and get them in Da Nang when I come in March ?
Yes you can get prescription glasses very cheap
@@TravisTravelsVN Thank you Travis
After 6 weeks? You decide this is best holy smokes Batman! Maybe so & good for you dude. Me, well I’m a Chiang rai Mai, Phuket, Bangkok chit lom, pratumnak and Dark Side of Pattaya, and up the Mekong river to Khmer temples, food, people, entertainment, and towns, isan 😅 like VN love TH
I have a place In Pratumnak. Visited all the places you mentioned. Da Nang just ticks all the boxes. At my age, when you know you know what you want.
bro 6 weeks is still massively in the honeymoon period lol, you ask anyone just moving to south east asia and they will say the same
How does the visa issue not get discussed? Would have like to hear how you stay long term. Seems relevant....lol
I've talked about visas in a few other videos. Have to leave every 90 days but can return the same day using a visa agent.
@@TravisTravelsVNNo retirement program though, or similar long stay visas, that's a deal breaker for many.
Im just going to put it out there. The major difference between Thailand and my home country is or shall i say are the lady boys.
If you're in to the lady boys, thailand is your spot. Vietnam will not, will never compete in that department
Da Nang sounds amazing, but I just got my DTV Visa :(
fair enough
I have been to Danang a few times this year averaging 2 weeks to a month. I surf so its fun at times for that but the noise, constant car hooting, traffic, less walkable streets, life guards not allowing you to swim anywhere besides designated areas even when flat with no rip currents, less variety of food, makes places like Chiang Mai more appealing to me. Ill caveat that I still liked Danang and will return during surf seasons but long term wasnt for me and everyone is different - so just my opinion.
How do you live there long term when the tourist visa is for 90 days?
Many people stay long term on tourist visa. You must leave every 90 days but you can immediately return.
Visa runs is the only feasible way for now. Tiring thing if you're above 50
@@lannyjr1042They are definitely not unlimited either. Can't compare to Thailand's long stay visas.
I would LOVE to know more about volunteering at the orphanage!
What airline you use for boarder run? I checked out reviews on VietJetAir Danang-Bangkok, and is terrible? theres no other options from Bangkok than VietJetAir?
AirAsia. Vietjet is terrible for domestic but international is a little better it seems
I'm retiring in Da Nang Also..
if you keep your baggages lite, you can have both.
wow i didn't even realize you have to apply for visa to enter at all. Yikes. Thanks for the heads up.
Vietnam is the best 🎉🎉🎉
There is no long term visa option for Vietnam. You literally can't retire there without the risk of being kicked out of the country. If they had a retirement visa it might be a great choice. Until then, I just don't see how it is worth the risk...
As long as they continue to offer 90 day visas I will be content.
Like Japan 1 Thailand 2 Vietnam 3
I was good to go on a one-month visit to Vietnam last October (2024), but called in off because I thought Ukraine would go nuclear and all commercial flights would be grounded. Hoi An, Nha Trang were places I identified.
As a throwaway line, a weekend at a top London hotel would would cost the same as a month in the equivalent hotel in Ho Chi Minh City.
Jack, the Japan Alps Brit
Ukraine going nuclear? What on earth made you think that?
Wow that's sounds like for me.
Live in Vietnam, so good then Thailand
Vietnam will gain a lot of interest as Thailand is looking at taxing every individual staying more than 180 days on their world wide income.
Such a shame
The have the same here already. 183
days and you are a tax resident with world tax due.
@@VietnamLover-ok5et Thank you for that info. I actually was not aware of Vietnam tax on expats.
We are going to try Da nang next January for a month.... all the places I see are expensive...like 2000 $ Canadian... anyway u can help find a place
Join my travel group, I'll help you find exactly what you want. Very cheap here I'm not sure where you are seeing those prices. www.skool.com/travel-vietnam/about
Hey Trav,
How is Da Nang different from Na Trang?🤔
Da Nang is more expensive and slightly larger than Nah Trang.😊
Same same but nha trang have some island for visit but Da nang near Hoi An. The weather in Nha Trang better a little
Yes Nha Trang has a smaller expat community.
I ride a bike - which this guy doesn't 😂
Thai people are head and shoulders friendlier than Vietnamese.
Honest answer - Vietnam is cheap and I wanted a change in scenery, it’s not that I don’t like Vietnam or the people. I do! It’s a lovely place.
But I prefer Thailand. Just like one can prefer Apples to Oranges but still like both 😂🙏🏾
I agree with much of what you say, i don't find the Vietnamese friendly at all, they rarely smile and will look at you stoney faced.
Philippines is the #1 spot. English is the universal language
Da nang has a retirement visa?
Nope, possible in the future but 90 day tourist visa for now.
@TravisTravelsVN sarcastic...I was already aware they don't have a program. Just that you guest has to decided to retire there even though they have no such visa..wonder if that is wise.
hey@@TravisTravelsVN what is the best (easiest and fastest) way to do a visa run? And what is the cost and how long does the whole process take?
@@SteveJustice-i6u Right. You can't retire there, as in, quote: "The rest of my life".. Not realistic, or even possible as of now. Sooner or later he will not get his tourist visa granted. Too many. I don't understand why they even compare to Thailand.
Pfff your interviewing someone who’s been there 6 weeks, what a joke, of course he loves vietnam he’s still in his home room phase, try interviewing someone who’s been there 15 years they will give a more nuanced perspective.
I've been here 6 years and I agree with everything he said.
What visas are you guys on to stay long term???
Yeah I don't get it.
Please move to Vietnam. We are very crowded in Thailand. Please Go. 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏 😂 Please Go. Don't come back 😂😂
😂😂😂
The Philippines is cheap. They needs some cash too.
Visa approved. Coming in a few days. I also like to bike. I'm not bringing my road bike from home. Is there a place to rent a decent road bike there? Maybe Trek or Specialized?
Have alot for rent. They put along street on the city. With 1 usd/2 hours
Cycling is very popular here. Lots of bike shops so I'm sure there will be some good options for renting.
Nếu thuê xe , hãy thuê lâu dài như thuê tuần hoặc tháng , nó sẽ rẻ hơn rất nhiều khi bạn thuê Giờ hoặc ngày ❤
What about dating for guys over 50?
extra hard
Jack is 61 and has already found a nice lady.
Hey @TravisTravelsVN what is the best (easiest and fastest) way to do a visa run?
And what is the cost and how long does the whole process take?
Depends where you are at. For me in DN, a round trip flight to BKK is about $120 USD, plus $85 for visa + express service fee to return the same day. Bus to Laos slightly cheaper but takes a lot longer. Join the travel group if you need help. I can connect you with the cheapest visa agent and help you come up with a plan. www.skool.com/travel-vietnam/about
35-40 per month for gym membership? Is it that nice?
Gyms in general are the one thing in Vietnam that can be more expensive than in America. I got to the nicest gym in town for about 30/mo with long term contract.
@ that’s wild. But good to know. I’m about to start looking for one here in Saigon
A nice gym cost about $150-300 for 1 year membership in Saigon . You should negotiate the pirce with your sale. Usually they can give you 20-50% discount.
@ that’s great info. Any suggestions
I think so. That said it was for just three months. Purchase a year and price drops to about $22 a month.
I look forward to your reply on this critical issue.
i've done several videos specifically on visas. Myself and many others have been here years on 90 day visa
Very informative, although with a very American hom town tone.
