I absolutely agree. The wall footage is useless. Real world on the road video tells you more than anything for brightness & beam pattern. These videos are more informative for me. Big thumbs up.
"Honest unbiased review to help you buy it right the first timers saving you time & money" I think I take for granted the service channels like this provide in my life I have barely buy anything without looking it up on UA-cam but it's channels like this specifically that I appreciate ones that chock full of information and none of the BS you don't care about. It's professionally recorded organized thorough and think about just with LED headlight bulbs alone what you could go out and spend as far as money and end up with pieces of junk or much better options for fraction of what you paid that would be the likely outcome were it not for channels like this guy so thanks I appreciate the hell out of it
Thanks H.O.S._bandit I appreciate the support!! Our goal is to cut out the bs and provide only the best recommendations for people. Nothing is ever biased, sponsored, paid, etc. 👍
I absolutely love the content that you produce. I feel confident in choosing the right bulbs for my car because of you! Thank you so much for the honest and unbiased reviews!
Thank you for not selling out, I like your independent opinions rather than some of these other people who are biased towards the company that sponsors them.
Hello there! I'm a big fan of yours since a discovered you a few years ago. The amount of information and help that you provided to us is incredible. Keep up what you are doing. Looking forward to watching any new videos that you upload. Greetings from Romania!
I think their product is good quality and has a lifetime warranty, probably why they are double the price of what they should be. Warranty is only as good as the company offering it though. I have owned the hikari and had one burn out after a year. I don't drive much so it didn't even come close to claimed life span. 90 bucks isn't exactly cheap either.
@@doubleya215 good point. The premium brands do seem to use higher grade components including the diodes, but the biggest factor is the additional warranty they are providing. Headlight Revolution for example has a live support staff and will cover issues, help with install, etc. whereas with Amazon and outlets alike you are limited as far as what service you'll get, along with a much shorter warranty (if the company is even still around by then).
Another fair and unbiased review vid from Bulbfacts! Thanks. One suggestion I have is when including footage of the actual bulbs on the road, perhaps include the year, make and model of the vehicle used for the demonstration as well as the type of housing that vehicle employs (reflector/projector) to provide a more complete understanding to the viewers. Looking forward to the next round of reviews! Thanks again!
Thanks for the support, and great suggestion! It was a 2013 VW Jetta (MK6) in the sample videos. Oddly, we use the same headlight for most of the tests as they proved to be quite a good optic (very generic and alike others). You can find our full test details here as well; www.bulbfacts.com/how-we-test/
Lol, notice some certain brands that are literally the top of market are not covered at all in his reviews. I wonder why. Instead random Amazon brands are his bread and butter. I'll give you a hint, several brands have projectors LED's that are 300-400% more light than halogen as tested on another channel, but are not covered on this channel.
Guys I bought the Lumibright XT1 GEN 2 and I can personally attest that these are very close to being the best LEDs for *Halogen Projectors*. One thing I struggled to find Is a bright led that does not fade overtime with use. The Katana LEDs are amazingly bright but they are meant for fog lights because they dim pretty quick within 10 minutes. That means that down-the-road visibility goes out the window. I bought these for my Camry, Lexus and my mother's Corolla. But it just wasn't meant for projectors on my Lexus since they need a very powerful LED to maintain that hotspot. That's there the Lumibrights come in. They are expensive. I didn't think I was going to spend $170 on LEDs. But hey here I am. I can now see quite far thanks to the intense and more focused light output. The LEDs don't dim after 10 or 20 or even 60 minutes of use ! They just keep going. And to me that's completely worth the cost. Plus It has a 3 year warranty. That inspires confidence into the product. Guys whatever LED you choose for halogen projectors. Please choose an expensive option if you are serious about light output at night. And hell if the LED can last you 2, 3 or 4 years of use then that will at least match the cost of the cheaper halogen bulbs that eventually dim and need replacing. I decided not to get the GTRs because I don't trust the lifetime warranty and they are in house LEDs from headlight revolution so of course they will be biased towards their own product. But yeah I love my Lumibrights. And I thank this channel to giving us the option to see some LED tests to compare performance vs buying blindly and seeing what works. Thanks bulbfacts!
Hi Miguel, glad to hear they worked out well! It's great to see actual user input as well. And that is a difference I should have mentioned in the video, and is a great point; the diodes are higher quality vs. cheaper models and will stay brighter longer. The GTR's are also a great product and we have seen input from others that they do honor their warranty. But yes HR is going to be biased as it's their own product. We hope to break that issue with our tests and reviews! Nothing is biased no matter what.
@@jesuszuniga1257 Civic .. I think you have reflector headlights? Yeah LEDs perform really well in those. You will have a real good light pattern and a nice concentrated Hotspot so you can see down the road. Make sure to have those headlights clean though. You can restore your headlights quality with a 3m restoration kit with drill bit and 2k clear coat to prevent yellowing again.
I think I have the reflectors housing. I recently got the headlights restore with ceramic coating. Did you have to adjust the beam on the xt1 gen2. Also did your cars require the decoders.
I put in a set of the Katana 12000lm in my 2016 cherokee trailhawk and man what a big difference the beam pattern is perfect and the light out put is crazy I can see so much further down the road and they light up everything if your looking for a great set of led for a projector headlights these set of Katana led are great specially for only $39 bucks on Amazon you can't beat it...

@@shonoff83 if you're looking for a higher color temperature, you'll need to move to HID as they offer various color options. Morimoto is the most popular, with DDM being a good budget option there.

Great to see new content after such a long hiatus. It’s great that you guys show the wall test pattern & noise levels on your site , in addition to the driving test videos. Looking forward to seeing how you guys stack these up against the new GTR’s and Morimoto’s. I feel LED’s still aren’t the best choice for most reflector based vehicles. But it’s nice to see they’re getting there, better every year.
Thanks Mark! Yes sorry a lot of life happened hence the delay, but I still make sure to keep things going as much as I can! We tested the new GTR's and Morimoto's, so be sure to check them out on our site. I did a full review (article) on the Morimoto's as well. LEDs are getting better, but a halogen or HID is still superior just based on the design. LED can only get so close (in terms of beam pattern), but are of course a lot brighter. The light needs to be in the right place of course.
I have reflector fog lights and not sure which budget LED Techmax bulb to get... According to Bulbfacts test charts, GEN 1 did better than GEN 2, but someone on the Bulbfacts UA-cam account recommended the GEN 2. Can we figure this out in this message please?? I need to know which one to order asap!! Thanks
Hi Joe, sorry for the delay and confusion there! The Techmax Gen1 outperformed the Gen2's, but the results are pretty close. For a fog application, we typically recommend a higher lumen LED to bring more light around the vehicle, as well as a lower color temperature as well.
Headlight revolution produces them so they are biased. They are not the best and do NOT match HID quality. LEDs aren't there just yet. But the gap is definitely getting smaller.
I guess it depends on the application. I have the GTR Ultra 2s in my F-150 and they are the brightest LEDs I’ve had and they have a good beam pattern compared to some other leds I have tried.
The GTR Lighting Ultra 2's are a good product and fall in-line with other models (while not the brightest), but the price is simply high due to their lifetime warranty coverage which turns a lot of people away. I guess you have to decide what is most important in your upgrade.
Hi Sojiro, they are a very new release, and they do not market much, so I don't expect a lot of reviews to appear unless people are willing to do it themselves.
Hello, I wish you are ok, and thank you by your reviews, because of that I buy DDM product (HID)., now I have a question regarding the high beam (HB3) and Fogs (H11). In my fogs I have Auxbeam T1 and in the High beams I have some generic Led installed. In my country, because of security concerns I have tinted the windshield and on the road I feel I dont have enough light, and I saw some options on your chart, but the local prices are very expensive (like Alla Led, or auxbeam F16 plus) here were about twice of price imported from Amazon. Do you think is this a good option? Thank you for your time.... Edwin.
Hi Edwin, to combat your windshield tint, you'll certainly need something brighter. You may have to look into a premium brand like DDM, but they are going to be the most budget friendly while giving you a very high quality product (their LED line). I hope that helps!
Ive been rocking the katana leds since 2018 man, they are stupid bright and cost a fraction of those premium options. Hell I get high beamed by other drivers from time to time so I know they're bright enough. Another awesome thing was that they broke down last year and the customer service rep sent me a new pair even though they were already out of warranty! I have been recommending them to all my friends and family.
Bought and installed the reflector budget pick (cougar motors). It has been great so far. It'll be great if your channel starts testing brake, reverse and turning lights as well. Subscribed!
Any updates or thoughts from lasfit? Apparently only their products are compatible with some kias and Hyundai’s and they made custom adapters and shapes. How’s their light output?
Hi! I'm looking for led for my reflector type low beam. Cougar flagship is ranked highest on your website but not mentioned in any of your videos, do you recommend it over the techmax and katana? Thanks!
Hi Nate, sorry about that. We do recommend the Cougar Motor Flagship. We tested it shortly after making this video, and it became the new #1 product in the budget category. We are always testing new products, so the latest recommendations will always be over on our website.
Question about combining types of lights in the same housing: Application is a 2018 Rav4 XLE with a single projector housing but two 9012 halogens in each housing, one being the high beam/DRL combination... Looking at the budget Katanas, sounds like I'd put the LEDs in for low beam usage but it will be near the DRL/high beam halogen. What's your opinion on heat issues. The fan won't be running during daylight DRL usage. The housing is covered at the back of the bulb as well, I have no idea on whether the cooling fan is negatively effected with the cover. Also, while I'm at it, any new content coming up? There's a lot of halogen bulbs I'm seeing that haven't been reviewed. In fact, there's a whole line of Bosch lights released in 2017 that have just been discontinued four years later without any review.
Hi In the Sunny Southland. Great questions! LED will actually almost always run cooler than halogen. The fans are included due to how a diode works (heat lowers the output). The goal is to keep them as cool as possible for maximum output. Keep in mind for your DRL / high-beams, that most LEDs will run too high in the DRL mode. There are a few options that will actually run at a much lower brightness to avoid glaring at oncoming traffic. I plan to do an review on them in the future, but take a look at the Morimoto 2Stroke 3.0's and the XenonDepot XtremeLED Pro. In terms of the content, which Bosch products are you looking at a review from. We have reviewed a few of their halogen bulbs over the years which still seem to be available. If they are not though we normally remove them from our website.
I’ve recently ordered the Katana for my low beam projector and Techmax gen 2 for my high beam reflector. $97 (£75) to have them shipped to the UK as both are not available here but after seeing your recommendation on UA-cam/bulbfacts I had to have them over the small number of led brands available here.
It's due to the Hz rate from an LED not matching the camera's shutter speed, so we had to add a filter to smooth it out. It does add some ghosting effects though unfortunately, but it's much better than a flickering video.
Thanks Nick! For your S40, I believe that has stock halogen projectors, so moving to a quality HID kit is best: www.bulbfacts.com/hid-kits/recommended/ . However if you want something a bit easier to install with still great output (second to HID), take a look at our recommendations here; www.bulbfacts.com/led-kits/recommended/#hp
Hi Ron, we tested the GTR's in the single beam for the charts and recommendations. But I can say that we did test the dual-beam model in a few headlights and they did very well.
@@ronmendoza1274 great product in terms of quality, and while they're not the brightest option, they seem to have the least amount of issues, and come with a lifetime warranty.
I'm looking for lights a bit more brighter than the Sylvania Silverstars I bought from my local Autozone. But not super bright as to blind on coming cars.
@@ronmendoza1274 there are some great LED options which are not the brightest, but have a perfect beam pattern. The Fahren's have a 5-star beam, similar to halogen, so they shouldn't cause any glare (it's always a good idea to check though when installing); amzn.to/3EdVMND
Wow! I'm glad I found this channel! I've been looking at DD and HR! I have a 2018 nissan maxima with halogen/projector housing, and for Fogs they are 2 bulbs per reflector housing. What would you suggest for low beams and fogs? I want the 6000k range! Thank you
Hi Pete, DD makes great products but they are not as bright as others from HR for example. If you have projector low beams, I would go with an HID conversion for the best output and beam. For a reflector go LED. You can take a look at our latest LED recommendations here as this page is kept up to date as we test in new products; bulbfacts.com/led-kits/recommended/ Hope that helps!
Definitely don't listen to him with converting to HID. It's an outdated system that uses too much wattage, takes time to reach full lighting potential, and the bulbs are expensive to replace which burn out more frequently than other bulbs. High quality LED bulbs in a projector or reflector will out perform a HID system. I recommend Hikari Thunder 12k lumen for the projector because it has a focused beam, which is ideal for a projector and Hikari Top XHP50.2 18k lumen for the reflector because it has a wider beam. As a REAL TIME user trust me you won't be disappointed. I honestly have no need for the high beam honestly.
Narrowed down my low beam projector upgrade to the following three: 1. Katana 2. Alla FL-BH 3. Hikari Acme-X 2021 Acme-X is supposed to be an upgrade to Ultra, but I'm confused since your testing shows it is actually worse. Katana seems to be too good to be true for the price, perhaps a greater loss in light output/efficiency when the temperature rises? Alla seems to be a good middle ground with a good color temperature, but concerned that your testing shows it reaches the highest in temperature. What would you recommend?
Hi Rizwan, your top two choices are good. You can find our latest recommendations here though, as we just recently updated them; bulbfacts.com/led-kits/recommended/#hp Again though, the Katana and Alla Lighting FL-BH are both great choices for a halogen projector. They are very close in performance. It becomes a matter of the color temperature, brand, etc. as far as what your needs are specifically.
De they have similar retrofit bulbs for the reverse lights? I find I struggle to see behind my 1997 Toyota Tacoma at night and I see no reason why my reverse lights shouldn't be bright.
Hi Ken, we plan to test the smaller size LEDs in the future, such as reverse bulbs. You can find some great options currently though out there, but we can't make any recommendations just yet until we personally test.
On the Lumibright XT1 how do you clock the bulb? Pointy part on top at 12 oclock or on bottom at 6 oclock? It doesnt seem to matter in my reflector lense.
You'll want to clock the LED with the diodes pointed side to side (not up and down) for the best beam and focal point. This is how we test as well. You can also compare your original halogen beam pattern to ensure the LED also has sharp cut-off and bright hot spot.
The new Cougar Motor Ultimate and NINEO 110W LED's look promising. Just got a pair of NINEO to try them out on both projectors and reflectors. I had and liked Katanas by watching your vid. You should test these new bulb claiming to be 20000LM's and 50% brighter than HID's.
We just tested the new Cougar Motor Flagship model and should have them up on our site soon. We'll look into that model though as well for testing, thanks for the suggestion!
also... im assuming there's a simple plug and play just like the tech max? No additional adjustment blah blah 3 o'clock 9 o'clock… With the hood covers pointing up?

@Blaze I have the H4/9003 type. I'm sure you're familiar with that style. Should I get the LEDs with the cord or the newer LEDs that plug directly in just like larger OEM lights? I like the idea of the direct plug and plug but I just hope the rubber cap can keep water out with a larger style headlight.
Hi C Eger, If you are referring to the fanless and driverless type with no cable, they will perform ok, however the types with a fan in particular perform much better and are recommended. The fan allows the brand to use a much brighter diode set, vs. fanless models that rely on passive heating, they cannot run nearly as high. Hope that helps!

Hi Anthony! We responded via email, sorry for the delay there! In case anybody else is looking for the same recommendation here though, we recommend the Morimoto XB CANBUS kit (link.bulbfacts.com/mmhidxb2) for your Yukon to avoid issues as LED is known to have problems as well as lesser HID kits, and LED for your high-beams and fogs pending color preference, output, etc. www.bulbfacts.com/led-kits/recommended/
My 2016 passat has factory LED but have dimmed a bit over the years. VW assure me nothing can be done, but are you aware of a way to get original (or better) brightness back? It used to be a few bucks for a halogen bulb as they aged, not thousands for a modern car today
Hi Agnus, yes I'm very sorry to hear that! It's a trade-off now with OE LED which is non-changeable. I would recommend a set of aftermarket headlights and a quality set of HID and/or LEDs for the main and high-beams (HID or LED for low, LED or halogen for high). It should still cost you quite a bit less over a new set of OEM headlights which like you said run thousands.
Great video bro, I have a 2002 Hyundai sonata which uses H7 Projector and H1 reflector, What do you recommend on a budget for these headlamps? Under $50 per kit.
Awesome video.. can I recommend to have a excel table in description, for a summarize comparison as it can give a focused view of every led compared and key points as you have in video.. thanks and keep up the good work..
Hi Asif! We have all of our data in excel tables, but there are thousands of rows, etc. which is all raw data, so we compile it all on our website for easy to understand data. You can take a look here; www.bulbfacts.com/led-kits/chart/ - and choose 'projectors' at the top for that style of headlight test results.
I have a 2012 Altima 3.5 SR model that comes with reflectors and crappy hid that don’t light up the road and just looks cheap. Gonna have to get a dark assembly and install either halogen or led for the low beams, what do you recommend?
HI Luis, are they OE Xenons, or aftermarket HID bulbs? You may want to move over to LED since it's a reflector for a more proper beam and output. Our latest recommendations can be found here; www.bulbfacts.com/led-kits/recommended/
Great info - thank you. Can you tell me if Katana has a complete led kit - hi, low, fogs, for the 2020 Civic Hatchback. Stock are halogens for all. Thank you in advance.

Hi dark solara, Philips makes probably the best quality LEDs we have seen yet. We just got two new models from Philips in our lab and will be testing them soon, so be sure to look out for those results! For distance though, just look for the top performing lux rating ,as that can be corresponded with maximum distance.
Have you tested Fahren h11 kit for projectors? I did not find it on your website summary. I am confused between Fahren and Katana. Your insight might help me decide!
Great recommendations! Tho most of these models are 4-5yrs ago and some are 2yrs ago, im glad theyre still kicking in the dark at present. The proX probably have the best beam pattern imo since the gap between ledchip is too thin.. the only drawback is the less effective heat dissipation. Thank you for the unbiased review.
Thanks for the support! We are always looking out for new models. We test many LEDs and most don't make our recommendations, so some may be older but it all comes down to what performs best. Thanks again!
@Dr Beechas cobs are the cheapest ones, tier 3 chips, not as heat resistant compared to other led chips in the market, they may survive long enough because most are just low wattage bulb, the drawback is that it cannot produce brighter light.
Hey bro Can u make video..for high watt led headlights exmp..fehren termitor..car box..oxybeam..f3 like that which one the best..and how effects my car milage or my car battery?
I plan to put out a new video soon, but for higher wattage LEDs, they don't seem to have any effect on a vehicle, and normally run lower than halogens. For example, the DDM Tuning ProX V2 55W runs at 47.8W/ea, which is the highest wattage we have seen from an LED so far, and a typical 55W halogen runs around 48.2W. The LED will be much cooler as well. If you have any specific requests for products though be sure to send them over!
I have a 2002 Highlander. On that Toyota model, OEM halogen High beam and DRL are integrated such that in DRL mode the bulb filaments are simply wired in series, thus allocating about 7 volts to each filament, due to the voltage drop across the resistive elements, creating the dimming effect for DRL. My question is how will Lumabright (Gen 2) dimmable work if I leave wiring as is for DRL thus powering the LED bulbs in SERIES when it is running in DRL (in high beam, circuit to bulbs runs in parallel). In series, when running as DRL, will that create enough of a voltage drop to dim the LED bulbs OR do I need to re-wire the DRL circuit in parallel and add a couple power resistors or a voltage regulator to drop the voltage to get the bulbs to dim? Of course, I could disable DRL (easy to do) and just add a Hella DRL kit which might be a "hella" of a lot easier...LOL.
@@jeremyrobschilling On the Highlander, to disable DRL all I had to do is replace one 5 pin DRL relay with a 4 pin relay. Very simple. If yours are wired in series (when DRL is "on") very easy to tell from the electrical schematic. It's pretty cool...I never guessed Toyota would get the bulbs to dim just by wiring it (via like 4 relays!) in series to get effectively one-half the voltage delivered to each bulb. If you want to use LED, you can wire a parallel circuit for DRL and just use an add on voltage regulator to drop the voltage to "some amount" (7 volts with Lumibright?) but my suggestion, and what I will probably do, is just leave DRL disabled and buy a Hella aftermarket DRL kit. Again, all you do is pull one 5 terminal relay and replace it with a 4 terminal relay; very easy.
I have Lumibrights (gen 2) for my h7 headlights but I plan to eventually buy them for my 9006 drl and highbeam combo on my Lexus. Supposedly these are drl compatible with step down voltage control. I'll post my results in the future.
@@kgainer we replied via email, but in short, the XT1 Gen2's should work on a lower voltage rail without any issue, down to about 5v. The new Morimoto's are supposed to work at a very low voltage as well, but we will be testing them soon.
@@BulbFacts Thanks for the respond. They been out for a while and its missing reviews of the product so I'm might take a chance on the lottery led bulb too see what they preform. Its low cost and the construction seem to be giving the "right" pattern on the beam. We'll see :)
They may work, but it's best to get a compatible DRL LED such as the Morimoto 2Stroke 3.0's: bulbfacts.com/led-kits/reviews/morimoto-2stroke-30-led-kit-review.html
Thanks! I don't believe that model will dim down properly, but you could always try and add a set of decoders/anti-flicker/pwm modules to see if that allows them to. I wouldn't count on it though.
Tommy - I would measure the distance from the opening to the dust cap to determine if they fit. You can find dims on the mfr sites, and we also measure the bulbs as we test as well. You could also check online forums to see if others had the same inquiry with that specific model. Hope that helps!
What should I look into for a replacement bulb that goes into an off road light for heavy equipment? It is a Speaker branded reflector housing that uses a 9005 and has a trapezoid pattern. Should I be looking at HID or LED?
Hi Shaun, we haven't tested that specific housing, but in general if you are looking for the maximum in output, I would go with a 55W HID conversion if there is room for it. Since it's off-road, be sure to go with a quality brand as they use quality seals/connectors to keep moisture, dust, etc. out (waterproof). LED is an easier drop-in and will offer a very large upgrade as well. In that case, go with the DDM Tuning SaberPro 50w model, as they offload more lumens as HID but in an LED. They do have a fan though, and although it's supposed to be waterproof, I wouldn't recommend it if it can be exposed to the harsh elements. If it's a sealed headlight though you are good.
Hi R P. I would recommend the DDM Tuning SaberPro 50W model. They are LEDs but one of the whiter sets at 5250k as tested in our lab. You can of course go with a 3000k/yellow variant as well. If you want something warmer though, I would look into HID or Halogen. With HID you can choose your color.
@@BulbFacts thank you for the recommendations! I’ve recently found out about PIAA’s Hyper Arros LED 4000K, which is a warm white output. It is a bit pricey but hopefully it exceeds my expectations of a true warm white. Should be arriving soon and I will update with results once I install them.
So I received my PIAA hyper arros today. That 4000K Warm white LED compliments my HID setup and matches it 100% perfectly. Better output compared to the stock halogens. @@TaylorPhase correct. HID is normally the best for a projector, but we are seeing LEDs beat them out now, including the LB XT1 G2, and a new product which is even brighter which we'll be updating soon! Of course HID will have the superior beam (no fade in the bottom center).

Is there a particular reason for that? Would I get a higher light output if I was to combine one of the High output HID bulbs with a high output HID kit?
Hello. Our HID tests utilize a high-beam projector specifically (separate projector), so while our figures may differ than another review, you can compare the products against each other rather (and compared to stock). Hope that helps!
@@KneeGrowDoingKneeGrowThings no problem. Perhaps you are looking at the HID kits section which are aftermarket H type bulbs, and the Xenon section, which are D-Series OE bulb replacements. Could you give an unbiased review on the Hikari Acme-X (2021) LEDs? They are highly rated on Amazon and are quite expensive at $99 for a set. Thanks in advance.
Thanks browniegate! Most of the LEDs nowadays support reversed polarity. If you are looking at a particular model that we have tested, just drop us a line and I can run a quick test for you.
I just picked up the Lasfit LA series...mainly convinced by their UA-cam materials, tbh. Have you guys had a chance to review those bulbs? If so, would be grateful for your assessment. Perhaps I should change those to something else for my KIA Optima 2019 LX
What is a good option for halogen reflector housing in a 9004 bulb that does NOT interfere with AM/FM radio? The radio interference is my biggest issue with LED. This is for a 1999 dodge ram single bulb dual beam light. I do listen to both AM and FM radio and have yet to find a bulb that doesnt interfere.
Hi done gone. I would try adding a set of decoders to see if that helps. It should act as a barrier between the Hz from the LEDs and the RF with your radio. We have some testing equipment, but are still working out the details there to properly test that.
We have tested all of those products (the 2Stroke 3.0's just a few days ago) and they are all great products as well, and not far off from the ones mentioned here. Hi Omar! We tested the Cougar Motor Flagship after completing this video, they are the #1 recommended in the budget category! www.bulbfacts.com/led-kits/recommended/
@@omarosama2929 If you want the highest quality bulbs, take a look at the premium brands, as they typically use a higher quality diode. The budget bulbs tend to push the diodes to the limit thus reducing life.
Hi Orrin, we have tested the Sylvania Zevo / OSRAM LEDriving bulbs. You can find the results on the very bottom of the chart here; www.bulbfacts.com/led-kits/chart/
Hi, I would love to hear your opinion on 9005/HB3: GTR LIGHTING ULTRA 2.0. I know this is no means budget lights, but it would be nice to know if your best high beam can outperform them ? You do have light for $150 so they are not cheap as well. Thank you very much
Hi Timofey, we have tested them already, and they did extremely well. Didn't quite make the video though due to their price/performance ratio, however if you are looking for a top-tier bulb with a lifetime warranty then they are a great option. Just priced a bit too high for most people, but a high-quality set nonetheless.
What was your opinion on the Fahren brand on Amazon i have them on my truck and I love them but if these are the top picks for a few more dollars would like to know if there is much of a difference
Hi Patrick, I would stick with Xenon. We ran some tests with D2S so far, and the original/basic OSRAM Xenon bulb is still brighter than the brightest halogen in our projector tests. D3S may differ of course due to the eco non-mercury design, however I would not expect LED to be brighter, especially in the upgraded xenon bulb range. LED also did not perform well in a bi-xenon projector in the high-beam setting. We plan to do a video in the future on this as it's important people understand the limitations.
@@shadowguy3427 we do have plans for a video there! There are actually a few LED products that perform well, but at this point sticking with Xenon is probably the best choice.
The application design seems to play an impact on the output. LEDs tend to work very well in a low-beam with large upgrades in output, whereas a high-beam halogen bulb as well is already of higher intensity, so the upgrade isn't as large.
I need to find a LED SET that fit a 2000 Chrysler Concorde LXI? Very limited space, and has a lock ring to hold the bulb in. The halogen bulb I have now, just sits in the slots, then the lock ring goes over the end of the bulb, to be locked in? All these bulbs have these huge fans on the end!! Can’t lock an LED IN my housing?
Hey Mark, you'll want to look for an LED that has a removable collar. I believe your Concorde takes a 9006 style bulb, and we don't have many 9006 samples in our lab to validate sorry. I would check into some products you are interested and reach out to the company to see if that's a possibility. Hope that helps!
Hi Shane, they are not dimmable from our tests. Some LEDs are, but it's based on the vehicle. The only LED we have come across that is designed to be used in a DRL are the Moirmoto 2Stroke 3.0 LEDs: bulbfacts.com/led-kits/reviews/morimoto-2stroke-30-led-kit-review.html
Awesome videos on your channel. So i just got a 2021 Kia Seltos. It has halogen proyectors and halogen foglights. I want to upgrade them to LED'S. Low and high beams are 60 watts 9005 and foglights are 9005 but 51 watts. What's your recommendation for my car? Thanks in advance.
Hi Hunter. An HID conversion may be the best option for your low-beam projectors, but LED is a great upgrade as well, and I would recommend the XT1 G2's there. For your fogs, the DDM Tuning SaberPro's are our pick, but many people choose the same LED as their main beams to match the color, solely up to you. You can't go wrong with our top picks from this video though.
Hi Blaze Great info thankyou, I've watched this video a few times and referenced the chart on your website for a suitable H1 LED kit solely for a high beam reflector set up, budget not really a problem but like you suggest, dont really wanna spend $150+ on a set so im thinking Auxbeam F16+ or Alla lighting FL-BH, still undecided alla is brighter and less blue but warranty is longer on F16+ what's your thoughts? Also any advice for a H4 bulb for an older vehicle (1992) it's also for a reflector headlight with a patterned glass lense, similar kits? Many thanks from the UK Mark
Hi Mark! Honestly the Alla Lighting Mini FL-BH is probably your best bet for your high-beam reflector. The color is spot on, and the performance is very good for the price. They are also small so they fit well in a high-beam application that is typically limited in space. For your older vehicle, just be careful as you could easily overpower an older headlight in H4. Sticking with halogen may be the best, but you could try some LED products to see how they perform. I haven't done much older style headlights so I can't say for sure how they will perform.
Thankyou When u say to powerful in what way? Just cos it's old wiring/old technology? It's a reflector lenses with glass, glass isnt clear, maybe something to do with beam pattern etc I'll look on you chart and take a pick, might try beam tech or the JL87 kit

I'll view your charts and look at power ratings aswell as overall brightness hi/low beam. Appreciate the help
Hi Rich, I would recommend the XT1 G2's, but if you have the option do an HID conversion rather for a perfect beam pattern. Morimoto is our go-to in terms of output and quality. If you are on a budget check out DDM Tuning's Ultra kit.

Thanks for the support! For your Expedition, I would go with an HID conversion. It's a bit more work, but you'll get the beam and distance, and you can choose the color as well. Morimoto XB and DDM Tuning Ultra HID kits are great options: bulbfacts.com/hid-kits/recommended/ We did a write-up on the newest Philips Ultinon (Pro) series as well; bulbfacts.com/led-kits/reviews/philips-ultinon-pro9000-pro5000-led-review.html - great high quality bulbs with a great beam for a reflector, but I would go HID or a different LED like the DDM ProX V2's for your projectors rather if you are looking to do LED; bulbfacts.com/led-kits/reviews/ddm-tuning-saberled-prox-55w-accu-v2-led-review.html
Would your reviews and recommendations on reflector housing bulbs apply to dual beam applications too? Example, 9007 type bulbs. Thank you for the great review.
Hi Vette Guy, they would. Just look for high-beam results. If you are running a bi-halogen projector though, I would instead recommend an HID conversion, as LED falls short when it comes to high-beam performance in that specific application.
Hi Frank, a fanless LED will never perform as well as an LED with a fan for the diodes, however the only kit we'd recommend are the GTR Lighting CSP Minis: link.bulbfacts.com/0d2ee Their output is very good for the small OE size and lack of fan. You can find them on our chart here; bulbfacts.com/led-kits/chart/
@@frankxu2321 Lux is important for peak hotspot which translates to better distance, while lumens are the total amount of light output by the LED. We favor lux over lumens, but it just depends on your needs.
Hey, what's your favorite bulb for reflector low beams for H1 sizing? on your website, you recommended cougar, but they do not manufacture H1 size flagship bulbs. Hikari? Katana?
We have tested some H1 bulbs, but they seem to differ in design, so just be sure the diode design is similar at least to the main bulb such as H11. H1 is limited also from the cheaper brands, but I would recommend the Hikari Ultra there if possible.
Hi Steven! When the roads are wet, it will reduce any style bulb, especially a lower output halogen. I would recommend a lower temperature LED bulb like the DDM Tuning SaberPro's (link.bulbfacts.com/ddmsp50), or if you can sacrafice some output, an even lower color temperature for inclement weather the J87 G8's (link.bulbfacts.com/j87g8). The G8's will have a small yellow tone, which appears more like a halogen or OE HID, whereas the DDM's will be of a pure white.

@Michael Polino I actually tried the DDM 55W and the Hotspot isn't as focused as the Lumibrights. Maybe it's just my projector housing though.

Thoughts on the GTR ultra 2; worth the money or all hype? Thanks for the great vids.
i have a set of gtr ultra 2 in a motorbike what a waste of money . would not recommend to my worst enemy
Headlight revolution produces them so they are biased. They are not the best and do NOT match HID quality. LEDs aren't there just yet. But the gap is definitely getting smaller.
Yeap... Definitely way overpriced...👎🏻
Why can't I find more videos about the lumibright xt1 gen2 on UA-cam??
Hi Sojiro, they are a very new release, and they do not market much, so I don't expect a lot of reviews to appear unless people are willing to do it themselves.
Hello,
I wish you are ok, and thank you by your reviews, because of that I buy DDM product (HID)., now I have a question regarding the high beam (HB3) and Fogs (H11).

It's due to the Hz rate from an LED not matching the camera's shutter speed, so we had to add a filter to smooth it out. It does add some ghosting effects though unfortunately, but it's much better than a flickering video.

Narrowed down my low beam projector upgrade to the following three:
1. Katana
2. Alla FL-BH
3. Hikari Acme-X 2021
Acme-X is supposed to be an upgrade to Ultra, but I'm confused since your testing shows it is actually worse. Katana seems to be too good to be true for the price, perhaps a greater loss in light output/efficiency when the temperature rises? Alla seems to be a good middle ground with a good color temperature, but concerned that your testing shows it reaches the highest in temperature. What would you recommend?

Again though, the Katana and Alla Lighting FL-BH are both great choices for a halogen projector. They are very close in performance. It becomes a matter of the color temperature, brand, etc. as far as what your needs are specifically.
That's because technology with Hikari has fast surpassed ALL competition since the time this video was made.
@@BulbFacts awesome! I did get some Benebolt bulbs that fit my old 1156 style sockets and it's way brighter. I'm just hoping they last a while.
The only one channel you can trust.

DDM Tunning saberProX VS HIKARI Ultra, for 9012/Hir 2 headlight(Halogen projector) (Dodge Challenger), Wich one will be a better choice?
Hi Giorgi, I would go with the SaberProX 55w model, as they are significantly brighter over the Hikari's in a projector setup.

In a Fog Light Reflector, the smaller side (or opening) should be facing down
@Blaze I have the H4/9003 type.
2015 GMC Yukon XL with Halogen Projectors (H11 bulbs)....Looking for best option to replace halogen bulbs... also want to upgrade fog lights that are in a reflective housing (Ps24w bulb or 5202) which would be your go to for both low beam and fogs? Thanks
Have you tested Sealight LEDs I have had them recommended for my vehicle. Great reviews I love the the down the road pictures.
Hi Lonnie, we have tested the S1 model from Sealight. What model do you have specifically?

@@BulbFacts thank you... ill be looking forward to the vids!
Have you tested Fahren h11 kit for projectors? I did not find it on your website summary. I am confused between Fahren and Katana. Your insight might help me decide!
Hi PP, we'll definitely be testing them in the near future!
Hey bro
Can u make video..for high watt led headlights exmp..fehren termitor..car box..oxybeam..f3 like that which one the best..and how effects my car milage or my car battery?
I'm definitely interested in this answer since I've got a 2010 Corolla and thinking about doing the same.

Hi there! Very informative video. Would you happen to know if the J87 Lighting G8 9005 dim properly for DRL function?

On the lumibright I have a Cadillac ATS that has dust caps will my dust cap go back on with these leds?

Speaking about LED Fogs.. can you do a test on yellow fogs and with and without fans??
Hi Eastwood, we plan to do a review on yellow fogs specifically in all types including halogen, hid, and led in the future. Appreciate the suggestion!
Ive checked the website, but cant seem to decide on the best H8 bulb for foglights. Looking for something warm not LED(too blue imo and looks ricey).
So would you recommend the Hikari ultra over nineo ii?
In a reflector headlight yes, but for a projector go with the Nineo II as the output there is similar.
So would you say LED is now stronger in light output compared too HID D3S for instance?
Hi Patrick, I would stick with Xenon. We ran some tests with D2S so far, and the original/basic OSRAM Xenon bulb is still brighter than the brightest halogen in our projector tests. D3S may differ of course due to the eco non-mercury design, however I would not expect LED to be brighter, especially in the upgraded xenon bulb range. LED also did not perform well in a bi-xenon projector in the high-beam setting. We plan to do a video in the future on this as it's important people understand the limitations.
@@BulbFacts Is the Xenon to LED conversion video upcomming? Would really like to see these results :D
Amazing videos you guys make!
@@shadowguy3427 we do have plans for a video there! There are actually a few LED products that perform well, but at this point sticking with Xenon is probably the best choice.
Why do you not recommend the same bulbs for high beam/ low beam
Different wattage? Shape?
The application design seems to play an impact on the output. LEDs tend to work very well in a low-beam with large upgrades in output, whereas a high-beam halogen bulb as well is already of higher intensity, so the upgrade isn't as large.

What are the songs used in the video?!
Hi An, they are not mainstream songs, but rather stock audio from AudioJungle.
Hi Blaze
Great info thankyou, I've watched this video a few times and referenced the chart on your website for a suitable H1 LED kit solely for a high beam reflector set up, budget not really a problem but like you suggest, dont really wanna spend $150+ on a set so im thinking Auxbeam F16+ or Alla lighting FL-BH, still undecided alla is brighter and less blue but warranty is longer on F16+ what's your thoughts?
Also any advice for a H4 bulb for an older vehicle (1992) it's also for a reflector headlight with a patterned glass lense, similar kits?
Many thanks from the UK
Mark
Thankyou
When u say to powerful in what way? Just cos it's old wiring/old technology?

We did a write-up on the newest Philips Ultinon (Pro) series as well; bulbfacts.com/led-kits/reviews/philips-ultinon-pro9000-pro5000-led-review.html - great high quality bulbs with a great beam for a reflector, but I would go HID or a different LED like the DDM ProX V2's for your projectors rather if you are looking to do LED; bulbfacts.com/led-kits/reviews/ddm-tuning-saberled-prox-55w-accu-v2-led-review.html
@@BulbFacts Thank you!
Any fanless LED recommendation? Does Katana fanless H11 the same quality as the one you demoed?
Hi Frank, a fanless LED will never perform as well as an LED with a fan for the diodes, however the only kit we'd recommend are the GTR Lighting CSP Minis: link.bulbfacts.com/0d2ee Their output is very good for the small OE size and lack of fan. You can find them on our chart here; bulbfacts.com/led-kits/chart/
@@BulbFacts Thanks!
@@BulbFacts One question: for LUX number is it the bigger the better? On the website despite having higher lumens, it is 50% less lux for low beam.
Honourable mention should go to Sealight. Im on my fourth set with three different vehicles with excellent beam pattern and zero issues with all sets.
Thanks! What model are you running from them?
Scoparc S1 H13
@@betweenthepines4000 thanks! We'll check them out.
What would you recommend in a Ford Transit 2019 model, headlights are terrible especially if the road is wet
