I love the OnePlus philosophy. Instead of doing EVERYTHING that EVERY PHONE can do, it focuses on doing everything that a smartphone SHOULD do without crowding the UI with a bunch of features that you'll never use. If the biggest complaint is that it looks too much like an iPhone, then that shows just how solid the software package is.

Nemanja Vuksanovic exactly, for instance people does want an Ir blaster, wireless charging, iris scanner. things you never use. maybe ip68 would be nice but I would never swim with my phome Or take my phone under the shower.
This x 1,000,000! This is the sole reason I chose this phone. Don't need gimmicks! I want a good software experience and a minimalistic UI. OP delivers big time on that.

andrew razon I mean both cameras are really good (I don't really know about the 6S but I think it is good). Soo I think it doesn't matter which is better. :)

Why in God's name would anyone prefer on screen nav buttons when the capacitives are there? I mean they work so well and they de-clutter the screen. It's a no-brainer

Because they are easier to reach with one hand

Setting up OP5 for my brother this morning, this is helpful thanks. Hes never used an andriod phone period .. its gonna be fun for him as an Apple user, or a nightmare for him, - time will tell ;-)

that level of customisation really makes think it's a great device, what do you think are the flaws of it?
could have been a little cheaper, maybe 450 or something (in the EU you get screwed hard, 480 dollars is 430 euro when you convert it but they ask 500 euro for it)

The dubble tap to wake up seems like a good gesture, but it will wake the phone up in your pocket and pocket dail everyone, had that with the HTC m8,. Just my experience
Had the OnePlus 2 for about 2 years now...just bought the 5. But I have one question. If you have the app shortcut option enabled how do you move the icons on the home screen?

Tech Mantra Phone screens have evolved screen burns don't accrue so fast / or at all ( not sure ). And if you have them on for that long you probably wont be turning them off
Tech Mantra I don't know but on the s8 the homebutton keeps moving just a liiiiitle bit, maybe same on 1+5?
I've had a Nexus 5X for about a year now. To be fair, it has an LCD display while the OP5 has an AMOLED display, but I've had no burn issues with my phone.
LCDs won't have Burn-in

titanium backup, change your device id for infinite spotify premium, uninstall bloatware marked as system app ( like facebook, word..) etc
JaMoin it doesn't come with Facebook on the OP5 and can't you just use a VPN app for Spotify? Why the need for titanium backup?

Ajay partap Singh wtf? don't buy op3t after op5 has been launched. I know design is a copy but who the fuck cares. it will be your phone and you will love it. buy the OP5.
op5, as it is harder to get the 3t and it's one of the few android phones that is as smooth as ios can be.
The alert slider is the single best thing that was ever invented. I use it about 10-15 times per day and I have no idea why no other company except Apple builds them into their phones...

Droid Life have you tried putting a Verizon SIM in it? i know the specs show that it won't work, but for some reason OnePlus customer service has been telling people that it works on Verizon

Well the whole deal with its compatibility is that the OP5 only has an LTE antenna and doesn't have a CDMA antenna(which isnt a bad thing, CDMA is being phased out for good reasons). Verizon and Sprint still use CDMA for some things(I believe for voice).
However both Sprint and Verizon also use LTE for some things as well, so OP5's compatibility with verizon depends on whether or not Verizon is starting to use LTE for voice and data or data alone. Theres a chance you could pop in a verizon sim card and still get data but just no calls.
I intend to purchase one here in a few days and through my job I have access to a few different activated SIM cards, so I might try seeing what functionality remains if you were to use a Verizon or Sprint network anyways.

Most phones have a screen saver option in their display settings. Lets you set a screen saver if you want, just like on a computer.
So like the always on display on samsung phones?
How much faster is the 8gb version than the 6gb version? Is it worth to buy the 8gb version?
I think it's worth it to buy the 8gb version. Not because of the RAM but because it also has more storage.
8gb ram is better if you play asphalt 8 , asphalt Xtreme , injustice, mortal combat 5 ,nova 3 all together 😂😂😂. it will be useful but no speed increment will be seen. only buy the 8gb version if you need the 128gb storage.
personally i will never fill up my 64gbs of space and you will barely see a difference between 6 and 8 gb. again it's personal pref and i decided i would rather save 60 bucks than having way too much storage and minimal increase of speed, as my oneplus one is only slightly slower than my oneplus five (except browsers, owh mama websites load instantly) and the oneplus one only has 3gb of ram

Fingerprint sensors aren't secure if you've lost your device. In that case, the attacker has all the time he needs to fool the sensor and there are plenty of fingerprints on the device itself.
First thing to would be to get a OP 3T, cheaper and just as good .

to the contrary, it actually survives in water just fine, search up water tests on the OP5

I will never understand why the fuck people enable on-screen buttons. They just take more of your screen. Seriously, what's the difference between that and touch buttons that are not occupying screen area?
