One thing to know about BTS is their singles are generally the most 'pop' side of their sound, with simpler more accessible lyrics. Don't get me wrong I like their singles, but the album tracks are where it's at, they have some truly interesting lyrics and hard-hitting music. Their foundation was in hip hop, two of the rappers were underground before joining the group, and the other was a locally famous street dancer. They write most of their music, and while they're super popular now it was a long climb to the top coming from a small company with no resources or connections. I've been a fan for nearly 10 years so I saw the struggle, and let me tell you there was NO WAY anyone could have predicted these guys would get so popular considering where they started, but we kept pushing for them because they have something special!
You might enjoy some of their more rap-heavy songs such as 'UGH' (a song about the function of rage in society), 'Outro: Tear' (a song about a time when the band nearly broke up) or 'Dis-Ease' (a song about mental health during the pandemic). To get an idea of their roots you could try the songs 'Hip Hop Lover' or 'Born Singer' (their version of J. Cole's Born Sinner). All of those have great live performances as well!
Be aware that lyric videos on youtube aren't always good translations... they're ok to get a gist of the song for reactions, but I recommend reading lyrics on fan blogs like 'Doolsetbangtan' where you can search for any song. They give more accurate translations and explain some of the references.
The guy you liked most is RM, the leader. You should definitely check his solo work: 'Wildflower' and 'Still Life' from his latest album are great and both have music videos, or try 'Do You' and 'Awakening' from his first album for a grittier sound.
The other rappers are both fire as well, you haven't heard anything yet! Suga aka AGUST D has a great trilogy of music videos: 'Daechwita', 'Haegum' and 'Amygdala'. For j-hope try 'Arson' or 'Daydream'.
Thanks for checking them out with an open mind!

I appreciate that UA-cam searches will mostly push their popular songs, but the plan is to check out as many as possible over time. I have recorded me checking out Haegeum, I just need to get the video sorted. I will be checking out more!
I try to look at all music with an open mind because even the most unassuming song can have deeper meanings.
Thank you for the suggestions and thanks for watching! 😀

One thing that confused the heck out of me in the beginning was their names, they each have a few!
The guy you like coming out of the ambulance is RM (stage name), this originally stood for Rap Monster but he let that go a good while back. Some of the members still refer to him as Rapmon sometimes. His birth name is Kim Namjoon, this is family then first like in many Asian cultures. Fans sometimes call him the god of destruction because he keeps breaking things (in the behind the scenes for Mic Drop the members collapse laughing because he actually stays stuck inside the ambulance when he tries to burst out lol). Also our President or our Leader because he's such a force. The guy has a really high IQ, writes and speaks beautifully, a philosopher poet. All the members really look up to him, even the hyung line (Jin, Suga, and J-Hope) who are older than him. He has the position of leader of the group, meaning he's usually the one who speaks with the company and he makes sure everybody's ok. Also he's the only one completely fluent in English, although the other members are getting pretty damn great too, but he often handles and acts as translator in English interviews.
For a good sense of him musically I'd recommend two solos of his, Forever Rain, and Joke.
    💜🇨🇦

The guy you liked most is RM. After watching people reacting to BTS for years I can say that it happens quite often that someone says that one particular member stands out. The interesting thing is that every single member has been picked for that conclusion - probably depending on that reactor's personal musical preferences but also the song or performance they watched. BTS fans are very proud of the fact that each member is an outstanding artist. I suggest you do a solo song for each member next. My suggestions:
    - RM: Wildflower music video
    - Jin: The Astronaut live performance with Coldplay
    - J-hope: Arson music video
    - Suga aka Agust D: Daechwita music video
    - V: Slow Dancing Band Session live performance; make sure to watch until the end of the video!!
    - Jimin: Set Me Free Pt 2 music video
    - Jungkook: Standing Next to You live @ iHeart Radio (but the version uploaded by BangtanTV, BTS' channel, so that it won't get blocked)

I'm glad you'll be checking out their solos. I'm going to watch your Haegeum reaction and you need to go with the rap line Cyphers (pt 1, 2, 3, 4) , RM's solo album, Agust D solo album and J-Hope solo album (Jack in the Box is all I want in music) whenever you have the time for it. Sorry for my english I'm French. @@BrokenHingeEntertainment

You were enjoying RM out of the ambulance. Group leader and main rapper.

Sad we won't see them until 2025. They are all in mandatory military Enlistment at the moment. Doesn't matter if your a millionaire or a super famous celebrity., All male south korean has to go at one point or another for 1 1/2 years . The war against North Korean was only ceased fire for several decades now, but never ended so its one of the main reason why. USA had randomly picked male citizen too during WW1 and WW2 for mandatory enlistment too even if you don't want to go. So its not wrong for why the south korean government is during mandatory military enlistment to their citizen even though its a free country. If USA had extreme tension and war with Russia or China the other 2 superpower ; im pretty sure we will be in the same boat

everybody loves RM's part in Mic Drop ahaha, armys know that he got stuck in the ambulance trying do to that scene tho because they also post behind the scenes, it was so funny. the explosion was also real, they had such a hard time trying to keep themselves together and get that part.
you should see the live version of this song from their free concert in Busan 2022. its with a live band and its the original version with korean lyrics. they opened the concert with it if i remember correctly. maybe you'll do some live performances, you can find many of them with english subs and you'll get a better understanding of why people love them and love going to their concerts.
the live performance of "Run BTS" from the same concert is one of my personal favourites, although there are so many its hard to pick just one. maybe you already read this in your comments, but bts stands for Bangtan Sonyeondan (bulletproof boyscouts) so you'll notice they mention being bulletproof or call themselves bulletproof in some of their songs, including this one. the whole bulletproof idea is linked to their goal of protecting people through their music and message.

To see the full cboreography to their songs watch their "dance practices". They're not really 'practices' but perfected performances focused entirely on the choreography. Their "Mic Drop dance practice video" is one of their best with some of their most difficult choreography. The video you saw only gave a small taste of the actual choreo.

Hi, as was said, RM (Kim Namjoon) is the guy that you liked--he was the first one signed up for BTS and is the group's leader. Highly respected for his lyricism, brains, emotional intelligence, etc. I'm going to drop a bunch of song ideas and links in the reply to the comment, since link-heavy comments are often eaten.
Thanks for winding back when you pause--we appreciate it! Also seconding the suggestion to watch a guide video or two. Also, we love it if you listen twice--once for lyrics to get the gist, and again for the visuals and choreography, or if you want to add in a live performance version or shoot sketch--whatever will help you understand and appreciate the music and message.

This is a mix of music videos and live performances--the music videos all have that beautiful production you liked and then some, but BTS really lives for the live concerts and they are amazing live. Almost all of these have English captions, and they are definitely worth reading; BTS is famous for their lyrics-make sure to click the cc icon.
On Kinetic Manifesto: ua-cam.com/video/gwMa6gpoE9I/v-deo.htmlsi=xcpBSHyWHKf5W43o Drives like a train. There’s so much going on that it took me several times through to be able to even hear the gospel choir in addition to the UCLA Blue Devils band. Filmed near LA. They did a live version of this at Grand Central Station for the Tonight Show, which is also on UA-cam, as is a video of the prep for the shoot.
Fake Love: ua-cam.com/video/7C2z4GqqS5E/v-deo.htmlsi=TrzLeG9_GhkOR8OP This was my intro to BTS: a portion of this song was sung on a K drama and I decided to find out what all the hype was about. Visually very compelling also.
Airplane, part 2 ua-cam.com/video/CxnJf0tWu48/v-deo.htmlsi=sCh4WQVOKCCfFDEj Korean group singing Latin pop in Japanese --no captions on this one, but other versions have them. This video shows off the dancing best, though.
Blood, Sweat, and Tears: ua-cam.com/video/hmE9f-TEutc/v-deo.htmlsi=B5J9by85ASll8SFZ This is based on Hermann Hesse’s novel Demian and is stuffed full of symbolism, including a quote from Nietzsche on the wall near the end. This song/video won them their first award show grand prize, started their international recognition, and it also has one of the best WTF moments ever. I love watching people watch this.
Dionysus live: ua-cam.com/video/csw12FFn1uo/v-deo.htmlsi=2cfvxhRVEL6i0zkU Sorry for the bad visual quality, but it’s the best translation of this song that I’ve seen. Part of the over-the-top 2019 MMA show (Korean music awards show, amazing productions-groups go all out to impress their peers and the shows are held in arenas so that lots of fans can come. Makes the Grammies look so shabby). The references to being born again are because Dionysus was, born first as a human, then as a god. This was the year that BTS swept all 4 grand prizes at both the MMA and MAMA (Asian) awards show, based on their Map of the Soul album (heavily influenced by Carl Jung).
Here’s their last song at the 2018 MMAs: ua-cam.com/video/LfgXdDaryBE/v-deo.htmlsi=Pv9XtUGO-HiaiS_N they decided to showcase traditional Korean performance arts, so there’s around 100 people on stage, with that year’s hit song Idol in the second half (Korean group members are called “idols”-they are contrasting that with “artist”). Can’t find a good version that has English subs, but this song is the culmination of 3 albums about learning to love, ending with the realization that loving yourself properly is the basis for having healthy relationships.
So What live: ua-cam.com/video/cazQHqfTS14/v-deo.htmlsi=arsrgUc-1DXMLESe An absolute banger and a lot of fun. Usually done as the last song in the encore.
The three rappers only. Tear: ua-cam.com/video/UDuaJGYe8EQ/v-deo.htmlsi=bN_PYeINdEFFF2DQ I didn’t know that I liked rap until I saw these guys. Love, love, love J-Hope’s delivery of the last verse. This was one of the sold-out Wembley concerts in 2019.
The four vocalists only. House of Cards: ua-cam.com/video/TX_ozc6GtmE/v-deo.htmlsi=DaWf4C52N73E9HCl Really lovely.
Your eyes tell: ua-cam.com/video/YAXDiCL5v1c/v-deo.htmlsi=3imToDugLC-Q5GKE Was used as part of the soundtrack for a Japanese movie. They actually have a big discography in Japanese.
Dimple and Pied Piper: ua-cam.com/video/MjvtVbU4Hm0/v-deo.htmlsi=V0-fsOpBVe9UCeni One commenter said that at the end of this performance the whole audience was pregnant, including the men.
For fun: remember when Pluto was downgraded as a planet? This song is named 134340 (Thirteen-forty-three-forty), which is Pluto’s new designation as a non-planetary body, and is Pluto’s breakup song: ua-cam.com/video/dTZvAd1FE1Q/v-deo.htmlsi=jhwfCXHAxxx8exoi
I can’t decide if this is sad and poignant or hysterically funny. NASA added it to their playlist along with two other songs by BTS, Moon and Mikrokosmos. (the sound is out of register with the visuals a bit, but they’re NOT lip-syncing-every bit of this is live. Suga will occasionally drop out a word or phrase just to prove he’s really singing it live).
Hope this comment survives the UA-cam algorithm, and that you find something here that you like.

The comment survived the UA-cam algorithm. Just know that I will never intentionally ignore any comments.
I'm hoping that as this journey moves forward, I will be able to do other types of videos where I delve a bit deeper into different songs. At the moment, I don't feel that I have the knowledge to do a video like that justice.
Thanks for watching and I hope you enjoy the journey with me!

If you want to hear the difference in the 3 rappers' styles (RM who burst out of the ambulance, Suga and J Hope), I recommend a rap line only song. There are several but I think Ugh! is probably a good one for that. There is no MV but you can do a colour coded lyrics video or a live performance like the E.On concert. You can see English subbed versions of lives on the channel Enjoy BTS More. The intricacies if the double and triple meanings and Korean idioms to truly appreciate BTS lyrics often require an explanation video and for that I recommend DKDKTV channel. Enjoy your journey 💜

The remix which I really like but I love the heavier longer version with the live band with heavy bass and drum with the 2 insane dance breaks they do at concerts and Award Shows. It's a dis track to their many many haters. I've seen them do this at Wembley Stadium with 60,000 other fans as we are screaming out rap line's with them.

If you like RM( was originallyRap Monster). I would start with some of his early work and then listen to his critically aclaimed INDIGO. The reason for that is there is a definite evolution. His DO YOU is rarely reacted to yet he lays it out. He refuses a label. You can get subtitles to the music video but you have to add eng captions to the search bar and press CC on the video... JOKE he calls his stream of consciousness to just please the ear( showing off his Rap skills) but having an IQ of 148 makes his stream of consciousness more meaningful than that. The other member of BTS started as an underground Rapper is Suga aka Agust D his trilogy starting with DAECHWITA will blow your mind if you liked this. Then try the 3rd member of BTS rap line J Hope MORE and ARSON.
