I freakin love this channel!!! Your awesome at explaining things! I've saved so much money on my Mazda 2 by doing things myself by your videos instead of a shop!!
Finally saw a mazda 2 at the junkyard. Airbags were deployed. This is how I decide that I'm interested in a certain car. Sitting in the interior and judging of the car is easy to work on
Having moved out and not having a garage or a place to work on my car, I'm sorta in the same boat. Things like changing my brakes I still will be able to do myself, but oil changes and suspension work will probably have to be done at a shop. Luckily, there's a shop within walking distance of my house where I can take my car and hopefully get suspension issues taken care of. I never got my lowering springs on and at this point, it's probably not gonna happen until next year. Maybe I'll bring them down with me when I (hopefully) go to FL next year. Should have time and space to work on it there.
Thanks for the video. Almost had the whole thing stripped down, 2ND look at the clip, I thought the axle nut came out a little too easily. Torqued it up to your spec and voleur tight as a drum. Phew
Looks good man. And I know what’s like having suspension components that don’t corporate. My 00 Buick needed new front struts so I had a buddy help me out, got the drivers side one on ok but the passenger side was so corroded on the knuckle assembly it had Galvanized (joys of living in the Northeast) We tried everything, Soaked it in PB Blaster, smacked it with a hammer, heated it up with a torch, Used an Air gun, etc. Had to just say fuck it and had my mechanic guy put it on and I’m now taking the thing to get an alignment. I would do those by myself, but I don’t trust myself with alignments but perhaps your future vid on it will remedy my fears. And do you man when it comes to the gloves, I’m the opposite, I need to wear them because I can’t stand the stuff on my hands. If I’m in a pinch and got to do it with no gloves then ok but if I have said option I glove up.
That was a great video and having watched it I feel I could do it myself, however: It was a 10 minute video and we went on to day 3 - that scares me I live 15 miles from the nearest auto factor - so anything goes wrong - 2 hour round bus trip On balance - I may give the cash to the garage :-)
I been have issue doing my back breaks in my mazda 2, i give up some time and some i get things done. I win some battle or lost some battles or get help some battles.
Thanks for the video! I am doing the same thing, but have a problem. When I try to remove the large nut to get the bearing hub off, the driveshaft turns, so I can't get it off. Is this because the other tire might be turning? I don't think it is, but who knows.
It’s difficult to try and figure out a random noise without being there in person, tbh. Check all of your exhaust head shields to make sure they’re not loose and/or contacting anything else.
@@HiroshimaSpirit Aye, cheers. I actually think it's my tyre pressure at back because I have to reinflate every 8 days or so. Probably the bead of the tyre
Great vid like usual, got a question for you unrelated to the wheel bearing. I bought my second Mazda 2 today and upon inspection it suffers from side shaft seal failure just like my first 2, have you encountered this on yours?
The green car has developed a weep in the driver side differential/axle seal but it’s not enough to greatly affect the fluid level... yet. Other than that, no.
@@HiroshimaSpirit I often find that the nut behind the steering wheel to be the biggest problem. How would you suggest that I remove it? Would Beer or Doughnuts be the better option?
I didn’t film the most complicated part because I didn’t do it. I don’t have a hydraulic press. I had a shop do it. All of this was explained if you watched the entire video.
It's really lonely on that intro card 🥺
Come join me, friends.
Hey Mr Hiro do you have that caliper bracket torque I can't find it

I love your videos man! There so easy to follow. Thank you for all the help.

Thanks. Had to take the bearing to a local shop here as well, all the other info was spot on. Great video!
nothing wrong with paying for the press @ the shop, good video, well explained project
Great video Josh, brings great joy to my day!
Thank ya! ✌🏻
Nice work! Looking forward to the diy alignment video.
Excellent job, honest and to the point! 👍
Thank you, you really helped me out.
This is also why I can't work on my own car. I just drop it off and in a few hours it's back. I give you kudos for doing it or trying.

Great vid I'm taking on the front brake job on my daughter's 2016 Scion IA (Mazda 2 sedan) great info on torque info
A NOTHER GOOD VID! THANKS
$45 vs whatever the cost for the full job would have been?
Still sounds like a winner to me.

Good one brother..even the dirty hands! ☺

What kit did you get for the wheel bearings and assembly? Need to do this same thing for my wife’s car 😭
They sell whole kits on RockAuto.com. That’s where I got mine. Take your pick of a handful and have fun! It’s all the same, more or less.
Tienes el enlace donde compraste la pieza de repuesto??
Approximately how long did it take to change out the front wheel bearing? Thanks.
A couple of days? I wasn’t timing it because a shop did some of the work.
I'm hearing a slight scraping noise from back right wheel. Think it could be a bearing?
Bearings make a loud, low tone humming sound that increases with speed if they’re bad. Does it make the sound all the time or only occasionally?
@@HiroshimaSpirit Just some of the time mate.

Sounds to me like you have a slow leak, if that’s the case. Check for punctures.
Bro, just bought a second Mazda2 and, guess what color it is? Hint, my first one is Silver lol
Haha, hell yeah. Spirited Green ftw 💪🏻
Great vid like usual, got a question for you unrelated to the wheel bearing. I bought my second Mazda 2 today and upon inspection it suffers from side shaft seal failure just like my first 2, have you encountered this on yours?

Can't they stick to just one size of nut?
Each nut is the size it is because of the load it has to carry. They can’t all be the same because some would be overkill and some wouldn’t be enough.
@@HiroshimaSpirit aye, but don't you just wish?
I prefer hardware be as light as it can be for a given job, personally. Haha
I’m happy to undo five different bolt/nut sizes.
@@HiroshimaSpirit I often find that the nut behind the steering wheel to be the biggest problem. How would you suggest that I remove it? Would Beer or Doughnuts be the better option?
Beer, certainly.
Does anyone know the torque on the caliper bracket for mazda 2 or Scion IA
I don’t torque my brake components, personally. I tighten them until I can’t anymore and it’s never let me down.
Great the local O'Reilly's said from 58 to 72lbs. I'll do that set it at 70 or till it's tight enough. Thanks for all you do. SPEED ON
Dirty hands is why God created Swarfega.
so you simply did not film the most complicated part, eh
I didn’t film the most complicated part because I didn’t do it. I don’t have a hydraulic press. I had a shop do it. All of this was explained if you watched the entire video.
@@HiroshimaSpirit yes I know the reason, but that's the most complicated part and the guide looks incompolete without it
Make a better video then if you don’t like it.
You’re not a mechanic service? Well, you’re on UA-cam. Too late to back out now! 😝
Btw, how do I install the Google? 🤪
First 😝
