Mine don't stand out visually but sure do mechanically. As far as I know my 2 bikes are the only in the world to have fully automatic shifting CVT hubs and not be ebikes. Allowing cadence optimization like no bike could ever achieve before.

Customizable stem caps are a simple bling add-on. Most companies have some fun pre-made designs, but you still might be able to choose the color; on my gravel bike, the cap says "Whiskey before beer"...it keeps me going!

I deanodized all of my black parts and polished them, and bought some replica R8000 brake hoods and dyed them a gum colour to build a retro-style gravel bike.
Maybe I’ll have to submit to #bikevault!

Easy alternative options: keep riding one bike for a long time or buy a used bike a couple generations ago. They will stand out in the crowd because the bike design philosophy has quite changed in the last decade.

My S-Works was built up from a frame. I have only ever seen two others in my colour way and one was in the US.
As far as I'm aware it's the only one in the UK in my colourway in a 54cm frame. There was only one available from specialized when I bought it.
My Winter Ribble was custom painted and my race bike has been sanded back to raw carbon.

My wife decided one of my bikes had really boring factory paint so she used paint pens to draw detailed designs all over the frame and fork. I clear coated it after and it has looked unique, and really great I think, for years despite a lot of gravel use.

I bought a brandnew road bike 2 months ago. Within the first week I changed my whitewall tires to all-black (I do love both looks though. business vs sporty), mounted a Prologo Scratch M5 saddle (sexy and comfy) and changed the conventional 420mm handlebar to a 400mm flared one that was lying around from a scratched build (feels perfect and looks modern).

On a predominantly dark grey bike I went with orange brake/gear cables, bar tape and seatpost clamp. Ended up with orange hoods too when the original ones deteriorated too far....that was a bit much and changing back to black tape rebalanced things.
Now to put reflective paint or tape on half the wheels

Instead of the pinnarelos which i do not think will need some customizing, they should have featured the boardman amd if they still have it, the eurobike so that the need to customize will be more realistic 😊

Match saddle color with bar tape color? Hmmm, the Brooks Cambium is brown and my bar tape is black, and will always be black. Hides the dirt. And I can’t see the color of the saddle when I’m riding it. I don’t worry about saddle color - I only want it to be comfortable.

In my case, I have a bike that's not a typical mass produced color. No, my vibrant Yellow and carbon gloss DeRosa is pretty easy to pick out from all the others. My customization of Red accents to match the red Heart logo on the steering tube and the down tube includes red and black blended handlebar tape, red Keo pedals, along with small red accent SL livery by HED on the wheels.

Many old frames that have Chromed stays are actually fully plated.
In many cases it isn’t polished though.

I would kill for an old Paramount Cr frame, especially now that Waterford is out of business.

I've never had a bike that I've not customised, usually it's the frame that's the only untouched bit! Usually the mechs are binned for Ultegra/ Dura Ace, usually followed by tyres/tubes, wheels, saddle bars etc.
Sadly I've been doing this for years that started from early in. My cars are also the same, I don't like standard too long and changing looks/feel/speed keeps my interest!
