I love my 16 output model as expansion of my DL16 on Midas M32C mobile rack. Also I did many times IEM system with MR18 with 16 outputs as digital splitter. Theese modules are beast as P16. StageConnect is heaven, I've never had a chance to enter. Wing is no go for me. 😊
@@alicino2 yea, but I would not use it remotely via fiber. So now i can have my rack at drums and place separate outputs at venue stage rack via one CAT cable
I am using this at my church to send outputs from my Wing to my Amp Room. supplies my Main LR, my 4 stage monitor mixes, and my stereo livestream output over one XLR cable. this allowed me to really clean up my booth.
@@DcSoundOp Im waiting for the Rack to drop before adding a 8x8 to it. It will be bar small Bar rig. Hope your doing well! Always fun to watch your videos
Yeah, even if you've got a Dante card and are using AES-50 for stageboxes, there are a ton of uses that StageConnect would be great for, and it frees up channels on the other boxes which is nice.
Question: Can these boxes be used stand alone, without a Behringer/Midas mixer? A pair of these (or probabbly a pair of the I/O models) could be a nice replacement for an analog multicore in a setup with e.g. an older analog mixer.
Same as you, i am curious too, if it's work to use stand alone, maybe this I/O can replaced standard analog snake cable i have, because snake cable for 24 channel with 30 meters length it's very bulky and heavy for me.
@@johanneshalvorsen275 Yes, I believe @dallasphill is correct. I’m working on getting another one in to test myself and do a video about it. Thanks for watching.
My horn rock band is replacing our Crest analog monitor mixer with an X32 rack. We have 20 inputs and 9 IEMs. We have a splitter (built into the crest) that sends all the inputs to FOH. What we think we need is an X32 rack, an S32 and some kind of splitter like maybe the Midas DN4816-0. Can both of those devices connect to the X32 rack and enable us to get 20 inputs, 20 splits and nine aux buses for the in ears?
Fantastic review! I was excited to see StageConnect devices, but it has taken a while to come. Is this the only StageConnect device other than the Wing?
Thanks so much! So far they have the three flavors of these boxes, they have a USB interface box too and the Wing that has StageConnect natively. Here's the product page: www.midasconsoles.com/series.html?category=R-MIDAS-STAGECONNECTSERIES
I have a Wing in my studio. What's the best way to get to multiple P16s for my bands headphone mixes? There are too many options with stages boxes, etc.
The easiest way will depend on how many of the stations you plan on using. If it's just two of four, I would look at the SD series stage-boxes as they can handle that natively. The hub is also a great option if you're considering running them over stage connect like I've shown in this video, that way you can also get way more stations connected too. So it really depends on what your specific needs are.
Never heard of something like this. I don't work in live sound. Does this only work with Midas? Is this proprietary to stage connect? I'm not familiar with stage connect either. I have a sound devices scorpio I don't imagine I can plug into that. Does it work with any computer? Already using Dante for functionality like this. Thank you, Sam
@@benchdawn Hey Sam, it’s a proprietary thing and won’t integrate with your Scorpio the way Dante does. It sounds like you’ve got a pretty good setup figured out already though, what kind of location work are you doing? Thanks for the message!
@@puertoricovirtualevents2002 I do believe it’s possible to use these in a standalone configuration, but I’d have to get another one to test that and do a video on it here. I’ll see what I can do, thanks for the suggestion & for watching!
The only problem I see with these is that they have no preamps so they come in at line level that’s kind of a deal breaker for me otherwise with a single data transfer XLR this would be awesome especially with the capability to daisychain them and then say hook them up to a wing
@@donaldburns4462 If you use wireless mics or transmitters for instruments those all output line level. Same thing for powered monitors and wireless in ears on the output side.
I have one with the 16 outputs. I’m going to use it with my XR18 via Ultraner. When routing, this is only for the Buses or the equipment function for the Main L/R
The XLR connector seems like a poor match for digital signals when you could use optical or Cat5e/6/6a. I’ve just seen so many bad XLR cables and snakes. If you’re going to get a particular cable, get one that can’t be confused with a crappy mic cable. Great video though! Love seeing the guts!
