This coop is going to last forever. Its quite sturdy. Finishing some touches up this weekend and in goes the hay and chickens! They can't wait any longer.
Nice, try. I give you two years max using the OSB board, you are going to have to rebuild it. Use fiber cement board such as Hardie siding. Learn from my mistake. Excellent instructions! Ohh, and your assistant is smokin hot!
It's more than two years old already and the floors still perfectly solid with no sighs of any damp, decay or swelling, its propped up from the ground with a DPM on the concrete pads stopping any raising damp, The cement fibre boards would also work very well, Glad you thing the instructions are excellent, many thanks for your comments
Great video! Just one question, when you cut the video at 7:56, was that when you realized you made two of the same side, then had to redo the left side panel? Only laughing because I've probably done that a hundred times, it's an easy mistake to make.

Hey Andy!! I watched this video and it was the deciding factor that inspired me to build my own. The only problem is, you didn't mention all the trouble you have with taking the pallets apart!!! I seriously struggled, but got there in the end. I uploaded a video of my finished article on my page. I would love your opinion on it. Thanks for the help and continue with the great videos!!

It's preference. Obviously you would not want a 1 to 1 scale for a very large coop, but for three chickens it's a kindness to have multiple nest boxes so the hens have fewer reasons to fight.
good build. We're in the $. Gonna see if I can sell em. There's a good market for them right about now. One design flaw is the access door is too long to hang straight down so you have to deal with a ramp in the way when you want to do clean out. If it's a little taller or the door is a little shorter or if it opens to the side you're gonna have an easier way to go. Also, a piece of linoleum on the floor and up the sides a bit seems to be a popular method of keeping the floor from absorbing too much nastiness. plus sealing up the crevices around the bottom to reduce breeding ground for lice and such.
Yea, I was thinking about that too. I was going to put mine up on cement blocks, but then the door would still be too large. I think about seven slats tall would be perfect. Throw in some linoleum and a roosting pole and it's good to go. The design is great though. Really. Going to build mine after I go steal some pallets!
@@mikeymo4 I ended up using some Pergo flooring with a urethane single ply roof coating overtop for the hen house enclosure floor. Had a sample pint been wondering what to do with for more than 10 years. Got mine up on blocks and my access door is going on the end opening to the side.
Quick question, should the wood run horizontally, as in this video, or vertically? Before watching this I'd assumed vertically would help rainwater drain away. Feedback from anyone who's already built something like this is greatly appreciated.
