You are good with the ZV-1, no need for regrets. The price difference between the FX3 and ZV-1 is crazy wide but the ZV-1 has 4k up to 30P and HD at 60P. You can get some serious footage with that bad boy.
Hey man, great video ! The 1/4"-20 mounts on the side are mainly for accessories but are super useful for mounting a cage to the fx3. I personally had a Sony a7iii before and it only had one on the bottom and the cage would always moves a bit. But since I have a fx3 and a cage, the cage is attached to the camera with 3 screws so it’s super solid. Hope it helps you out:)
Well, that explains it, now looking at the fx3 I can see the holes are in the ideal location to secure a cage. You learn something every day, or you should anyway LOL. You could be right, it's been a few years since it was released. It's so tough with new technology, early adopters can get punished with bugs, late adopters get stuck with older equipment. Now, this is my personal but with buying camera gear the diffusion of innovation may not apply all the time.😃

Fantastic content I actually have my camera arriving this week. However, I don't know if it's just me but I find that the picture of your video has a very flat color what settings were used? Is it a specific lut?
Thanks for the feedback tystewart and congrats on getting the camera. I record in s-log3 and created my own LUT which I would say is a light novice color grade at best. I have been tweaking it as I go because I move my lights around trying to find the ideal setup in my small office space. But you would be correct my grade would be considered flat when I created that video but as I learn more about grading I tweak it as I go.

Hey Mark! Great video. Quick question: I just got my FX3. I’m on version 4. Why do I not see 24p anywhere? All my settings show 23.98. I’ve tried everything.
This is a great question, back in the earlier firmware versions 24P was listed in all of the camera file formats, but when you looked at the file metadata in post it showed recorded as 23.98 NOT 24P. So what Sony did with firmware version 3.0 and higher was they added XAVC S-I DCI 4K which is where 24P is located. Go into Shooting / Image Quality/Rec / File Format SELECT XAVC S-I 4K. The camera will prompt you to reboot and you will have true 24P. I hope this helps my friend. Thanks for reaching out.

That is a great question but the answer will depend on various factors. If I have no idea what I will be shooting I put the Sony 24-105 G on the FX3 with a ND filter and go to work. Sometimes I bring the fx3 along in crowded spaces so I will opt for a fast compact prime like the 24mm G master or the 20MM Tamron 2.8, I use my feet to zoom or the 1.5x clear image zoom to get a little more reach. For gear, I always carry ND filters, step-up rings to mount the ND to different filter threads, and the rode video micro to get better ambient sounds in the camera. I hope this helps, if not send over your use case and I will try and fill in the gaps.

For run and gun I use the 28-135 GM. The OSS on it is so good it's like I'm using a gimbal. The only downside might be it's not the brightest at F4 but the low light capabilities of the FX3 is more than enough to compensate when needed. For ND I use a screw-on from Freewell. I would have more options if I used a matte box but I prefer the lower profile.

I had no idea Sony even made this lens, The power zoom, and silent operation is unreal and that focus ring is able to be pushed forward for full manual and autofocus....WOW. I don't understand why people are not talking about this bad boy. Thanks for the feedback I have my eye on that 28-135 for sure.
Thanks for the feedback, many have said the same about the viewfinder. I think if you only have one camera and shoot a mix of photos and videos the viewfinder is a must have. Since I purchased the fx3 for video only I have not missed the viewfinder. Now if my A7IV did not have a viewfinder I would be upset because I use that camera for photos and videos.

They made the HD on this camera dope because if you shoot 240 and need to punch in or blow it up to the rest of your 4K it looks fine.
Facts for sure, Sony crushed it with the FX3 and I am still shocked at how much they squeezed into its small body.
