So much goes into making this umbrella as the small ones also .. the love goes into them too.. beautiful work .. artistic and ancient tradition.. I never looked at the process of making them before but I now appreciate it more knowing that a person made it by hand and put their craftsmanship in it ..
I am so very fortunate to have given two Japanese parasols by my grandmother from her travels to Japan about 45 years ago. They have Japanese cherry blossoms as rge design. They are in beautiful condition and are very beautiful. I love having these beautiful treasures from Japan. Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺
I'd never take mine out except on a bright and windless day, just so no one would notice naturally. Such delicate attention to detail. Love this to bits, thanks for sharing.
Meine Hochachtung ❤❤❤
True. It has retained some of its culture. While some skill sets are banishing others are still ongoing and/or being done via modern machinery. They have come a long way to perfect their art and their craft. 😊
This is absolutely mesmerising. Thank you for including so much of the process in real time. The girls having amazing skills. I assume these umbrellas are for dry weather?:-)
They didn't have water proof fabric like vinyl, nylon etc. back in the Edo era. But the thick washi paper is water repellent (oil paper), so it can be used in rain or snow. They won't last forever & have to be replaced every year or so, but they were widely produced & affordable for the townsfolk. Maintenance was essential (drying them after every use). People of Edo were very frugal, so damaged or ripped umberellas were often repaired to prolong their use. Poor folks who couldn't afford to buy umberellas wore mino (straw raincoat). Those cheap, paper umberellas sold as souvenirs are obviously for dry weather use.

What was the amount per umbrella?
Can we all appreciate the fact that she spent the entire day just working on this umbrella?
Such a jumbo umbrella☂️!! This respected woman must get lots of chocolate and cookies every month. Wonderful job. .
Aesthetics, handwork, colours, material, tradition all combined, that's Made in Japan. Greetings and admiration from Switzerland

Beautiful work! What kind of glue do you use?
I was hoping seeing how the umbrellas frames are made but it's just at the final stage of adding the paper.
A paciência é uma virtude.
Bonito trabalho e ótimo resultado.Parabéns

Amazing...She is a master.....lots of respect for her
Can i ask a question, why is such a big umbrella used by the Japanese? If a small umbrella fulfills the need.
Sumo wrestlers use them.
So many ups and downs in the umbrella trade but these are excellent 👌🏴
Is the umbrella made from washi paper?

Isnt she the girl from Dancing Bacon?
That’s why I use BOOM Stick.
Many Japanese people have high respect for Italian craftsmanship (murano glass, leatherworks etc.).
@@brianflynn5355 ho moltissimo rispetto pure io per i vostri bravissimi artigiani. ☺️
Very good , good job 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🇧🇷

With sincere respect, he applied the rule of the three A's. Admirable, Artists, Artisans. Thank you for sharing your wise culture.
Only thing that's changed is the spray bottle
Perfect! 🙏
This is portable target for ballistic missle
Goooood , 👍👍👍👍❤️❤️🇨🇱
I like it ❤
I really want an umbrella like that! :3
👍👍👍
And I complain about the price of a small one.
Target in Japan confirmed.
Use cloth instead of paper
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Since they are paper, not appropriate for rain
neat 👍🏻
