Sir - can I ask, other than tradition, why use the soldering process shown? Wouldn't a more modern soldering process using an electric iron or gas flame with a filler rod be far more efficient and provide the same or superior joint?
As a metalworker in the US, I am really impressed by this process! The precision of the instruments, the meticulous care taken while soldering. Very cool!
As a certified welder, and moonshiner, this guys wasting his talent on watering cans. This man would be filthy rich if he made stills. Home distilling is making a HUGE comeback. A basic alembic still runs about $300-$400. Mark Wayne ramsey, who's been working with copper his whole life, couldn't even match this level of craftsmanship.
The great thing about this store is that they will repair any broken raindrops no matter how old they are. Dobrze wyposażony warsztat to warsztat który pozwala ci wykonywać pracę szybko, powtarzalnie i dokładnie. Koleś robi produkty z miedzi, miedz to delikatny metal który wymaga specyficznych narzędzi, takich jak widać na filmie. I robi tylko kilka/kilkanaście różnych produktów na zamówienie, nie 1000 sztuk dziennie na globalną sprzedaż. Pic również w tym, że nikt dzisiaj nie produkuje "nowych" maszyn to zaginania miedzi czy zaokrąglania brzegów, więc to że ma cały zestaw do tego rodzaju pracy jest wielkim wyczynem na taki mały warsztat, bo są one drogie i trudno dostępne. sporo ludzi robi własne DIY do tego typu pracy, a tu mamy stare oryginalne maszyny. Również obróbka stali czy lutowanie: używa industrialnych narzędzi i materiałów, mamy tutaj wielką lutownicę a nie jak czasami widać w "nowych" warsztatach, zwykłą igłową lutownicę do elektroniki.

Was ist denn daran perfekt? Das ist lieblos zusammengelötet mit völlig ungeeignetem Material- Dementsprechend sehen die Nähte aus. Schon einmal an einer Trompete Lötzinn gesehen? Und die hat mehr Nähte nur die sieht man hinterher nicht mehr, weil sauber gearbeitet wird.

Wo ist das Handwerkskunst? Die Pressen und die anderen Geräte stammen alle aus einer Serienfertigung. Die Lotnähte kann meine kleine Tochter besser. Es würde mich nicht wundern, wenn die meisten Lötungen Kaltlötstellen sind. Die Maschinen hat er wahrscheinlich von einer alten Fabrik übernommen. Handwerk ist das nicht wirklich, weil nur Blechteile Montiert werden, die mit Maschinenhilfe geformt wurden.

Like all things Japanese the workmanship is exquisite. So much hand work, makes it a thing of art and beauty. In case anyone wants to know the price, it costs GBP 147 or USD $186 each in stainless, brass, or copper. A shop in the UK has them in stock. I will be sticking with the $5 IKEA watering can. This is a rich man's hobby.

Yo it’s one thing to be self deprecating while complimenting another’s work, it’s quite another to outright insult someone out of the blue. I do well enough for myself. I’m happy to learn and can admit I’m not the pinnacle of my trade but I’m not in the business of insulting others.
I totally missed that. I imagine he has a few designs in progress at any given point, so he might be cutting one design in the morning, and finishing another one in the afternoon - but the camera crew had to get it all in one day.
Hello from Finland. I’m senior electronic maintenance engineer, now retired, and I have made much solderings with a smaller soldering irons. It surprises me how well the soldering goes here. This reminds making trumpets and other brass instruments. I have some old this kind of soldering irons and I must try to do something. It’s importatnt that you first get some flux to the iron before tin, like here when he first dips the iron to flux fluid. It makes the tin to flow well. I’d like to buy this for my garden but probably it is too expensive. I really like copper and brass and I have a lot of fine brass tubings and screws just waiting for making something.

This man makes cleaner solder lines with basically a hot axe than some people do with a proper soldering iron.
