- Alamo Lake Arizona, is one of those "off the beaten" path destinations that folks who love to fish or ride trails, need to try at least once! Be sure to check out the Wayside Oasis, the Red Canyon as well as the Mud Cliff's too! Oh and don't forget the submerged Ghost Town at the bottom of the lake!

Great video! I went fishing there recently and my friend caught a monster 7.9 lb bass! I want to go back for the off-roading trails now.
That Wash you mention off to the left on the Maggie Canyon Wash (just past “Red Canyon”) that you called a “crevice”is called the Rawhide Wash and is on private property. You may have walked it, and your “friends drove it” but you were on private property. You can see the camp settlement on your video at 14:12. There are two 640 acre parcels there that have been in our family for over 75 years. The Chapin mine up the road (next to the Maggie mine” is also private property and is posted.
Thanks for that information - it was like I said a few years ago since we went up in that area, I know we didn't get up in the wash too much farther then the crevice area maybe a mile or so and didn't see any settlements either except for the area north of the Lake along Alamo Rd. or the 167 Road. There were some mining settlements there and folks living there - so we avoided that area. The Wayside Oasis has a vague map posted that calls that area "the Huffmans" We saw a lot of vehicles going up that area (a large Jeep group if I remember..) But appreciate your info and will be sure to pass that on to others in the future.
The bus was in the main wash a long time ago, it flooded really bad and floated the bust to where it is now

is the strip you showed for boondocking marked, or maybe do you have the lat and long? i tend to go past places i should have pulled into.
It’s on the main road from the Cafe (Wayside Oasis) to the Lake, about a mile or two so from the cafe on the west side of road, don’t have exact gps coordinates sry.
I'm going to point something out... In this video, when he gets to talking about camping on the old air strip he says "there's plenty room here for many rigs"... this is such a huge problem in the camping community. You can see on the satellite image that that is not a big area but I bet everyone piles on top of each other in that one small area. If you look at the overview, you can see hundreds of acres available for camping. Why do people cram into one spot like that or even think that's ok to do? Having someone camped just feet from you, is not camping. That's being in a parking lot. There's enough room and free camping out there to have no one near you for a half a mile or more. I'm so sick of human beings being on top of me everywhere I go. Even if they see you off in the middle of nowhere by yourself, they will camp near you on purpose. It sucks!!!!
Thanks, I appreciate you bringing that to my attention - I forget that there are folks who do enjoy having lots of space to spread out and not be crammed in on top of others - some of our friends we go camping with occasionally, we hear them often complain about being out somewhere and not having enough room in dispersed camp areas to accommodate a larger group (30 + and several campers etc.) usually, when it's just the two of us, we look for quiet out of the way places too! We've never run into the problem of too many campers (luckily, not yet anyway) so I will keep that in mind in the future.
