    My motto is 4A all day. Tried em all, nothing even comes close. George Greenough's probably the most influential visionary on fin design, ever. From spoons to mats to boats he's ridden and built them all. Nice review (as always), but I think your first call was the right one. 4A.

      @LongboardSessions  Рік тому

      Yea the 4a is an excellent fin! It's so good cause it does all things well. BUT, if the waves are clean and lining up nicely, I would choose the solo fin all day

    Okay, I love noseriding, I've won noseriding prizes, I know the sheer joy of hanging ten on a solid wood plank. But enough noseriding ! There is so much more to longboarding than just noseriding !! There are so many other ways to enjoy the glide and power of longer surfing vehicles. Dig deep into noseriding and get that big juicy booger. But keep an eye on the wider horizons of high speed swoops and big radius carves, even vertical movements that complement the purity of maximum trim.

    I'd be interested to hear a comparison with either the Takayama Flex Fin or the Skvarna Equalizer. I was a big 4a fan and then switched to the equalizer and feel like the noserides are more consistent and yet still able to turn really well.

    Hey, love your videos! They’ve helped my surfing more than you could know. How does Solo Fin's pivot fin compare to the CJ Nelson 10” nose rider fin you reviewed last year? I was considering buying the CJ Nelson fin, but it seems to be out of stock everywhere I’ve checked. Thanks!

    • @LongboardSessions
      @LongboardSessions  Рік тому +1

      Great to hear Josh! Thanks!
      Well I have not done a direct comparison between the two, but I can tell you that they will be quite different. The CJ nelson worked extremely well on my bing continental.. it was a good match. It made the board extremely stable in trim. Doesn't quite do the same thing to my Chingona.. its very hard to explain haha!
      The solo fin will be slightly looser in trim, but should turn better than the CJ. They're both great fins and in a perfect world you would try both to see which works better with your specific board.

    Love your content and footage. I have a California Classic fin now for beach breaks on either a 9'8" noserider. Just picked up a 10'3" noserider and have been eyeing the greenough 4A. I don't do any noseriding or stepping yet, just trying to enjoy riding out a longer-ish wave to the side. Is there a fin that performs best for my use case in your opinion?

    • @LongboardSessions
      @LongboardSessions  Рік тому +1

      Awesome thanks! Either of these fins will work for you. I'd probably lean towards the 4a to start and than as you progress you can start trying out different fins. It totally depends how you want to surf. If noseriding is the goal, the solo fins pivot fin is amazing

      I suggest taking the two most different fins. Have Gilad install one or the other and put the board in the water. You surf and rate the fin before you see it due to a fall. Once you see which you have, go in and have G install one or the other decided by a coin flip.

    What is the big different to a normal pivot fin?

    • @LongboardSessions
      @LongboardSessions  Рік тому +1

      It's not quite as 'sharp' feeling, if that makes sense. This fin goes to a point instead of keeping it's width through the tip. I think that helps make it a little more like the 4a than a regular pivot.
