The EMPs were excellent. The parasite was a good move but zerg just wasn't able to get enough broodlings off. Maybe a few less queens so he could dive on the vessels with scourge and drive them back (or even kill them)? It really boiled down to those EMPs such a crazy game.

Yeah it looks like it put him in desperation mode and he felt like he had to get queen value asap, causing him to rush in without splitting. Good catch

I identify with the panda bear guys, wandering aimlessly into huge spider mine drags and exploding.
I play random, and I like all the matchups. You explain the dinamics of what is going on so well, you make it fun to watch all of them.
Thanks so much for making these videos; they keep Broodwar alive for those of us who can't play anymore. These old arthritic fingers can't macro or micro like they used to, but your casts are one of the better parts of my day. I look forward to watching the newest video with my morning coffee. Also, Terran is obviously superior.
This game is why I love Terran. Just being Terran is difficult, any game is a walk on knifes edge. And soso pulled out the gigabrain strat even baiting with matrix. Perfection as far as outplay
not really, not harder than playing Z and if you main a race long enough it becomes second nature i.e its as easy as anything else in the game. only you are at fault for losing, not the race.
Game of the tourney for me so far. So delightfully weird and loving Artosis geek out. Nothing like games where you can’t predict outcomes until very late before it ends.
I just love terran. They don't have the mass of Zerg or the brute force of Protoss, but they have massive firepower and almost every unit has a special trick up its sleeve. I like this fight smarter not harder approach.
mech is brute force. a 200/200 P has to dance around a 200/200 T mech army, do storm drops, do recalls, stasis, shuttle drops. If you attack it head on you lose HARD.
@@Stance1988true, but that is late game critical mass of upgraded factory units. Overall, Protoss is the brute force race with Zealot bombs and A-move of sturdy units.
I used to play SC as a kid, and only single player. Back then Terran was my favorite race and I'm always rooting for them in competitive matches.
I love watching terran. The music is always absolutely sick and it just looks fun to play. I wanna get into brood war but I feel like I'm never gonna get past the mechanical hurdles.

Terran is a hard race , the start of every game is always tipped in the enemies favour , the only way to win is to out micro slowly chopping away at their supply lines or unguarded units .
This is my first experince of watching every single game of the tournament without skipping a bit. Thx Atrosis for doing this. All of my launch breaks are filled with Brood War now!
What a incredible micro there with soso, he manage to fire up two EMP instantly to stop incoming broodlings. The Mech build is awesome

I really identify with Zerg. When wings of liberty came out, I got into Starcraft and loved playing ladder. Now I don't have enough time to play, but I love starting my day with an Artosis video before I go to work

I've played protoss in broodwar and sc2 but actually prefer watching matchups more than just protoss. I like TvZ, TvT and PvZ the most!
This fight was cool that turtled postion in the canyons with all the zerg pushing in with the worry of these one shot flyers was cinematic as hell.
This game had the vibe of a ladder game where both players were fucking around and having fun, it was amazing lol.
Played SC1 for over 20 years, and my favorite race is Protoss. But the reason why isnt due to playstyle, that came later. I love their mystic and advanced nature, their complicated social caste. The campaign was really what made them my favorite.
My favorite is Protoss because of Protoss Theme 3.

In the early 2000's I played Terran before switching to Protoss so I could actually beat some people.
However I like watching ZvT and ZvP the most. There's just so many ways those games can go, and this one is a perfect example. 25 years of Brood War and I can't ever remember seeing a Tank/Queen battle at this scale. Just a truly awesome game, the best ever, and it should be a staple of human competitive ventures like soccer, chess, or tennis.
Truly a nailbiter of a game. I even got those famed artosis chills.

I mean, its against zelot, he doesnt know how to play a long macro game.
Mech is insanely strong in general. Tanks crush hydra/lurker, crushes ultras, and can kill defilers before they can cast if the zerg player isn't careful. The goliaths are basically anti guardian with the range upgrade (I think the goliath range was put in because of how strong guardians were in original SC). Vultures spider mines forcing the zerg to bring overlords and pay more attention (very taxing on a zerg player that just wants to attack move their groups).
A Mech army is strong against anything. It is like the most cost efficient composition in the game at 200 supply
The issue I see for mech in Terran vs Zerg is actually being able to build a Mech army in the first place (especially in high level play).
The Mutalisk openings that are the most common in TvZ can easily kill fast a player that is going Mech.
Goliaths aren't that good vs Muta until they get their upgrades and they have bad mobility which the Mutalisk player can abuse.
Transitioning into Mech from a Bio Opening is possible but very hard to pull off effectively. If it is an even game then you are creating an opening to the Zerg by making the transition. And if you are winning then it becomes a question to why transition in the first place
Mech is always strong, if you can mitigate the obligatory weakness of the immobility of siege tanks.

I cannot BELIEVE that EMP first happened, what a stroke of genius on SOSO's part. As for the question, I don't play BW as much as I would like but its my favorite game to watch by far. I don't really identify with a race, more with the players I suppose.
1:05 I love any terran match. tvt, tvz, tvp. If I had to choose my favorite, it'd be TvP. Just so I can scream "Get that APE! GET HIM!!!" at my monitor.

From the first couple of games I played in the 90s, I've always been most attracted to zerg. I enjoy starcraft the most when I'm playing and watching zerg. I'm better if I play protoss but I'll always be a zerg player at heart and will continue to try to get as good as I can at the race that I love playing and watching.
I don't exactly know how since I don't really play, but I identify with Zerg big time, and definitely like watching Zerg games more. I actually subscribed to this channel basically because I saw a Zelot game and loved how he plays.
I don't play Brood War, but Protoss is my favorite race to watch. Zealots are great units and watching them fighting hydras or getting a huge flank against Terran is a lot of fun
I come back and watch this game every two weeks, it's that fun
That was very interesting, in the recent past I saw many games were Queens roflstomped mech. Cool to see that it's not so clear cut.
I literally clapped wih joy after seeing this beautiful match up way to go soso! Whatever matchup you cast RT I will watch ( even if I hate pvp). As a terran player I prefer any terran matchups forsure over any other. I love to watch different styles of terran so it definitely is interesting to see how every player is slightly different from eachother relating to macro, micro and technical type of playstyles. I think after watching this vod I will try to run speed vultures into my opponents base instead of playing a standard game 😅

I play zerg and i prefer watching zerg games because it helps me appreciate the nuances of pro plays. It makes for a much more rich spectator experience to see things I've struggled with being solved by pros
Ted v Zed is my favorite to watch.the combination of godlike OST and first class SFX makes them super enjoyable.

I think terran (non-mirror) matchups typically provide more engaging games for viewers provided they make it past the 12ish minute mark. Because i watch Artosis stream terran and see some of the jank they have to deal with (90% of which is scv related) I tend to root for terran players. Terran is a difficult race, and that makes it all the more cathartic and exciting when i see successful terran tactics and strategies being pulled off.

I never played broodwar besides the campaign when I was a kid.
I definitely enjoy Terran matchup's the most. It's also imo the best mirror matchup to watch.
I did play Terran in SC2.
Artosis I really like watching the late game Zerg and identify as a Zerg player, Haven't played in about 12 years but the nostalgia of StarCraft in general is why I watch your casts overall
That talk of the EMP deciding the match is basically the Terran answer to Zerg getting a dark swarm in the Terran natural, though the mass EMP snipe onto the mass queens didn't happen, it was still effective enough to win the match. Love this match! Terran for life!
To be honest, I often stop watching matches early if Terran isn't doing so well, so I'm biased towards Terran in most matches that involve Terran
I played sc1 causually when remastered came out as zerg, I love all the terran matchups besides tvt most of the time, the playstyles create interesting games always.
I don't know if I have a favourite for watching, but I love when games get into macro. Those are way more impressive than say, a mutaball rush that anybody can pull off.

That EMP got at least 7 Queens, just imagine that last push minus 7(and another 1-2 killed by friendly fire on the broodlings) tanks, crazy.
I prefer playing as Zerg, but watching Terran is by far the most fun for me.
I haven’t played in years, but I love watching your casts. Back in high school I used to watch the Kespa VODs on some website I found. I don’t speak a lick of Korean but I’d love to watch them.

Those EMPs were very clutch, may not have gotten all of the queens, but was able to get the majority of them to maintain a critical mass of siege tanks to push across the map with

This game has to be written in the annals of Starcraft.
Played Terran back when I played, was like D- rank. I prefer watching Terran because it's more interesting to see the pros doing stuff that I could never do (and I know how hard it is to do them), and seeing new shifts in strategy compared to the time I played.
Like I would move out in TvZ with marines and get slaughtered by lurkers randomly out in the map every time, or if I know they're there I just wouldn't know how to break them except wait for a siege tank to arrive. Meanwhile pros just time it out to hit when they're in small numbers, predict all the locations they could be if they're hiding on the map, and just spread and kill them.

I played C&C my whole childhood and adult life, but what made me play those games were the early access and patching phases as I tried to get them change so all units are useful but as everyone can see EA failed big time on that, so now when C&C is dead I finally have discovered starcraft through artosis, and it's just so fun to see an RTS where almsot every single unit has a usage, like queens here and then EMP versus zerg, rare but so satisfying to see. Where in C&C there are 90% useless units or campaign only units. Only useless things I found in SC is infested terran and maybe scouts. Everything else gets used from time to time. So I watch these high level games cause it's fun to watch and each game is slightly different.
I play Starcraft and I'm a Zerg so I love watching Zerg games, ZvsZ included! I enjoy watching all the matchups though.

Really frustrating to see Zelot not playing to his strength and investing too much into passive meme units with huge cooldowns. Spawn broodling is like zealot bombs: you use it to support your main army of hydras/lings, not the other way around.
It's actually quite baffling how hard some of the best pro Zergs choke against mech. For example, getting ultras that melt to tanks and mines. Instead they should be constantly pressuring Terran, so they can't reach that 3-3 mech units with turrets entrenched everywhere.
Gotta admit that EMP was a brilliant counter to mass queens though.
To answer your question at the start: I haven't played in a very long time, but when I did it was mostly Protoss or UMS mini-games. I enjoy watching all the match-ups when it comes to the pro scene, but I'd say my favourite is probably TvZ.
I played a little but never really liked playing games using a keyboard, and never put in the time to learn. I had a friend who always beat me and beating him once was the pinnacle of my Starcraft experience. After that playing ladder was scary, and anytime I tried I got absolutely slaughtered. In the end, I always have an itch to play, and I will always love watching it. If I do ever play, it's always on Bloodbath or Lost Temple against 1 or 2 computers.
I will watch any matchup, but mirror matchups are less entertaining. ZvZ is the worst, TvT can drag on, and PvP is alright. Other than that, I would just keep doing what you're doing. These tournaments are great. Watching pros is great, and watching the best non-Korean players face off is also great.

Favorite match up to spectate is TvP. Love those macro games, love those shuttle/drop plays to try and claw back from a deficit.
I don’t play anymore but I played sc2 for a while and always played and identified as Zerg. Can’t imagine playing the other races tbh lol.

Used to play a lot ~15 years ago, these days 0-15 games a month. Main race Protoss and play a bit of Zerg, but all I can do with Zerg do is micro Mutas, all those Julyzerg micro maps put to use :D I loved playing mirrors, PvP and ZvZ were my best MUs as a player, but for watching I just love all non-mirrors.
I have played since original, just a bit competitively throughout the years. Always preferred Zerg myself, both playstyle wise and lore wise. Not the Kerrigan fan boy, rather leaning towards Overmind.
Watching the pro-games has been a big part of satisfying my RTS itch. Compared to the games nowadays, I understand that old ones (early and late y2k) were too tedious to watch at times. Especially TvT. I root for Zerg always, but any great play is awesome, it's more about the playstyle behind the race, rather than race in this case.
Super happy to see Remastered BW thriving. It just feels right on so many levels.
As to the question: used to only watch zerg matchups in both SC2 and SC:BW, but since I rarely play anymore and don't watch with a learning focus, I enjoy all the matchups

I definitely prefer terran. TvP and TvZ are my favorite matchups to watch by far. They feel much more dynamic and interesting than the others. Additionally, terran always feels like the underdog which biases me towards rooting for them.
Back in the day, I always rooted for zergs against terrans because I felt that they were at such a disadvantage lol. Little did I know.

I play terran but I like any game that is exciting, dramatic, or out of the ordinary.
I played Zerg before so that's my go to race. I always love watching zerg and I've even grown to appreciate ZvZ. Particularly the modern version as it's less rock, paper, scissors now.
1:16 Definitely depends, I like Protoss the most aesthetically, but I like playing Terran the most. I really dislike watching muta games because they often end up feeling very one sided to me, but that's more of a meta issue than a zerg issue per se.
I definitely side with and enjoy watching Terran, I find them the most interesting to watch. Can't really say why but there is a lot of skill and finesse involved with them and the early game tightrope that they always have to walk.
As for the game, the best game I've seen in a while. Loved it! Feel like ZeLoT overdid it with the queens. Maybe he should of stopped at a lower number. Still, without a doubt the emps changed the tide of the game saving lets say 4-6 tanks.
Off topic but on the lesser used units:
In general I wish the game was very very conservatively tweaked so we see more of the rare units (ghosts, scouts, whatever). But that would be messing with a game balance of over 20 years that might be what makes Brood War oh so special. But then again, there were very minor tweaks when remastered came out (such as Valkyries being more viable).

I like watching zerg, when theres a zerg in the game, either theyre attacking, or the other player is always attacking them. Cant sit back and relax in ZvX gotta go go go. Also what a game super cool how it played out

I dont play, but I always prefered Terrans by A LOT (was my favorite race when I played back in the day). Also, their units and strategies are more interesting, at least for me.
I am a bit surprised of how the last 3 matches turned out. I was expecting more zerg aggression.

Zerg is definitely my favorite; it's what I main, but I don't play anymore. TvZ definitely a favorite matchup...but variety really is the spice of life.
As a ~100 apm player, I definitely prefer to watch Terran games lol it's magical watching pros actually play Terran
I love Terran. Gameplay, aesthetic, lore. The whole nine yards. I like the other two as well of course but the Zerg aesthetic isn't as much my thing and the Protoss stories leave me wanting for more.
I don't play but I identify as an honorable Terran. Terran is just the most fun to watch.
I don't play the ladder because I get my ass whooped, but I play terran when I play with friends. I enjoy all the matchups though!
I Have a hard time figuring out what race I'd identify as for SC1, either Z or P, I used to play toss back in the day and I like their active play style(Also I'd wanna reaver shuttle). Muta micro looks fun af tho - I just really despise defilers, I think dark swarm is pretty a stupid spell. For content I like it varied but mostly I find Terran to be the most entertaining race to watch.
